The Viktor Wilt Show

If there was ever an episode that felt like someone emptied an entire junk drawer directly into your brain while feeding you coffee and fireworks, this is it. Viktor kicks things off battling the eternal struggle of summer: installing the air conditioner, immediately destroying his already-injured wrist, and discovering yet again that his house absolutely refuses to let the microwave and the AC exist peacefully in the same universe. A 3 A.M. breaker trip thanks to Becca's midnight snack becomes a philosophical discussion about first-world problems, aging houses, and why our own stupidity is somehow always on a repeating schedule.

From there the show spirals into a globe-trotting expedition through internet insanity as people from around the world reveal what shocked them most about visiting America. Apparently we're all too used to things like lakes the size of oceans, roads that stretch forever, gigantic food portions, and the fact that you basically can't function anywhere outside of New York without owning a car. Viktor somehow turns a wholesome travel discussion into an existential vacation crisis while realizing he desperately needs time off but probably isn't getting any anytime soon.

Then comes Hollywood's comedy identity crisis. Viktor mourns the apparent extinction of genuinely funny movies while diving into legendary classics like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Office Space, Step Brothers, Hot Fuzz, Tropic Thunder, Airplane!, Galaxy Quest, Superbad, The Big Lebowski, and dozens more. After checking the surprisingly mediocre critic score for the newest Scary Movie, listeners call in with recommendations, proving that the funniest movies on Earth somehow all came out twenty years ago while modern cinema keeps feeding everyone horror films. Thankfully, horror still manages to sneak in enough laughs to survive.

Things immediately become exponentially weirder thanks to one of the most baffling gambling concepts ever conceived: prediction markets where people can literally wager on wildfires. Viktor tries to wrap his brain around the idea that allowing people to financially benefit from disasters seems like a spectacularly terrible idea before wondering if authorities are secretly using the site to catch future arsonists. Somehow this naturally transitions into one of the greatest thrift store stories imaginable, where a teenager buys a three-dollar Lakers jacket at Goodwill only to discover it belonged to NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain and could be worth a quarter of a million dollars. Suddenly everyone listening is mentally planning a thrift store road trip while Viktor discusses rare Stephen King school editions and why your relatives should never donate your collectible books after you die.

As if reality hadn't already dissolved, the show dives headfirst into dinosaurs worth nineteen million dollars, giant metal T-Rex sculptures for front yards, and the return of self-proclaimed psychic Yuri Geller, who now claims a magical crystal skull helped England win soccer matches. Naturally this leads into conversations about James Randi exposing fake psychics decades ago before Viktor questions why anyone with supernatural powers would waste them helping a soccer team instead of... literally anything else.

Then humanity completely falls apart. A woman celebrating a soccer victory hangs topless out of a moving car before tumbling into the street. Nude Recreation Week officially begins, prompting discussions about the legal complications of celebrating it in Idaho. Fourth of July madness erupts in Newport Beach with more than 400 arrests, endless fireworks, viral chaos videos, and discussions about local fires near Rexburg while Peaches joins the show to roast Facebook rumor mills where every wildfire somehow immediately becomes a plane crash according to someone's cousin's neighbor's aunt.

The Freak News segment absolutely refuses to obey the laws of reality. A Scottish man allegedly attacks someone using TWO LIVE SEAGULLS as dual-wielded biological weapons. Nobody knows whether he was swinging them like feathery nunchucks or simply unleashing airborne chaos upon his victim, but everyone desperately wishes surveillance footage existed. As if that wasn't enough, fireworks injuries begin rolling in after people ignore every warning label ever printed and start launching mortars from their hands. The lesson remains timeless: explosives belong on the ground, not in your fingers.

Just when you think the episode has reached maximum absurdity, a bank robber somehow successfully escapes police... in a wheelchair. Neither Viktor nor Peaches can understand how someone outruns law enforcement at wheelchair speeds unless the chair secretly hits ninety miles an hour like something out of Grand Theft Auto. Their confusion somehow feels perfectly reasonable considering the episode already featured weaponized seagulls, psychic crystal skulls, million-dollar dinosaur skeletons, and exploding fireworks.

The final stretch bounces between social media addiction, why deleting your apps might actually save your sanity, behind-the-scenes stories about Dokken being forced to perform after Metallica during the Monsters of Rock tour, and a collection of gloriously unpopular music opinions involving Prince, KISS, Phil Collins, Coldplay, Incubus, Sleep Token, Five Finger Death Punch, and the eternal debate over whether perfect vocals actually make music worse. By the time the credits roll you've survived malfunctioning air conditioners, priceless thrift store treasures, naked celebrations, psychic soccer magic, giant dinosaurs, bird-based assault, wheelchair bank heists, exploding mortars, and enough internet insanity to make you question whether reality quietly gave up sometime around breakfast.

What is The Viktor Wilt Show?

The Viktor Wilt Show daily recap! If you miss the show weekdays from 6A-10A MST, you've come to the right place.

Speaker 1: Well, hello everybody. Welcome to the show, the Victor Will program. It's Tuesday. Yay for Tuesday. Oh man, really wish it was a little bit later in the week. Still don't feel like I had a weekend, so I guess I'm not going to at any point. Well, other than the one coming up, I guess. Do got that ahead, which will be good. Though it is gonna be a little bit uh toasty this weekend.

Yeah, we could hit them uh triple digits by Sunday. Hope you're staying cool. I finally got around to putting my air conditioner where it belongs in my house to hopefully keep the main floor just comfortable. But in doing so, I think I screwed my wrist up again. I mean it it wasn't all better, but a little bit sore this morning. I mean I didn't lift that much, and it didn't seem to be bothering me that much.

Just never learn. I don't know, we'll see how it goes by the end of the day, because I got more stuff I would like to do, but uh at least it'll be comfortable in there. You know, when you start sweating in your house just sitting there, you're like, well, I'm either like fat or it's too hot in here. I it's probably a combination of both. You know, when we're talking about me, but anyway, hopefully by the time get to the house, it'll it'll be sitting nice and cool.

The only problem with my air conditioner is if you use the microwave and the air conditioner at the same time, uh, you'll pop the breaker. So it was probably I don't know, three in the morning. Becca wakes me up, apparently needed a uh middle of the night snack, and she's like, the power just went out, but only part of it. I'm like, you turn the microwave on. Yeah, okay.

Alright, let's here's how we fix it. Alright, I'm going back to bed. Got to bed too late last night anyway, but I I was able to get back to sleep quickly, so hopefully by the end of the summer, we'll all be in the habit of not using the microwave while the AC is running.

But for my personal experience, no, I do it over and over and over. Just sit there and kill the power. I'm an idiot. Ugh. I know. First world problems.

Oh, my air conditioner and my microwave at the same time kills the power. I know. I'll stop whining. Let's let's get through this day, people.

Let's do it. Well, I hope your summer has been going well. I hope you get to, you know, maybe get out and do a little bit of road tripping or vacationing or something. You know, there's a lot of great places to see.

Right here in the region. You know, You can sort of get out of town affordably. The gas prices are down a little bit.

You know, they still suck, but they're they're down a little bit. And you know, you might take it for granted, all the stuff we have around us. I saw a thread online where people were asked, alright. Hey, people who visited the USA for the first time, what was the biggest shock you got? We're here all the time, so I don't know, maybe we're just oblivious to these things. Maybe this'll help us find a little bit of uh appreciation for the world around us.

Or it's gonna be a bunch of people complaining about something. I don't know. Let's dig in. First answer, the size of Lake Michigan. I asked other passengers what ocean we were flying over. Uh the Great Lakes.

Very large. Uh, if you've never been to any of them, it does appear like you're at the ocean when you're at a uh a Great Lake. I don't which one did I go to? Lake Superior?

I think so. Anyway. Alright, big lakes. We do have some of those. Yellowstone Lakes massive as well. Uh let's see here. Oh, this person says I came from a small island.

The fact that you can drive in a straight line for hours is so weird. Yeah, that would be. Kind of like if we went to Hawaii or something. Alright, we're gonna we're gonna take an hour drive. Okay, we're back where we started.

Hmm. We saw the whole island. I don't know how long it takes to traverse an island in Hawaii, okay? Um it's gonna be out of my budget to go on vacation for a long time.

Not only my budget, but my PTO budget. This is not happening. Alright, let's see.

This person said to be honest, people were way nicer than I expected. Yeah. Depends where you go. They didn't say where they were on vacation. Like people around here are definitely friendlier than in other places I've been. Okay.

Alright, let's see here. Yeah, a lot of people are just like, I can't believe how nice everybody is. We must have a bad reputation. Well, you see how people are online. If all you saw was how people behave on Facebook, as far as your representation of what people in America were like, you'd probably think everyone's a jerk.

All people do is fight about everything. Alright, uh, this person says how big everything is. Roads, buildings, food portions, people, attitudes. Alright, yeah, I mean, the country itself is extremely large.

Yeah. Try to take a drive across it. It'll take you a few days. Alright, there's another person mentioning Lake Michigan. If you were gonna come to the U.S., why would you be near Lake Michigan?

Chicago, maybe. Because what you wouldn't want to go to Michigan. What I'm gonna fly from overseas and go to Detroit. I don't know, I've never been to Detroit.

Maybe it's pretty cool. Sorry if anybody's listening in Detroit. I'm not trying to judge. Just never been there. I really wish people online would see if somebody has left the same response as them before they leave another one.

More and more. People are nice. People are nice. How difficult it was to exist without a car. Yeah. Uh, unless you're like visiting New York City and just staying in Manhattan. You're not gonna have a very good time without a car on vacation here in the US.

Like pretty much anywhere. Alright, this thread's kind of bumming me out because I want to go on vacation. It's my own fault. You know, taking time off when I could have just powered through. Gonna power through today.

Alright, here we go. You know what I could use? I could use a good laugh. Eh, it's been kind of stressful lately. Screwed up my wrist. Been all sore.

House is a mess. Fourth of July. I could use a good comedy movie. Have any good ones even come out recently? We're like in the era of horror. Everything good that's coming out, it's all horror, which I ain't complaining. Alright?

By any means. You know I love my horror. But it would be great if uh well, what what's the scoop on scary movie? The new scary movie. Haven't even looked at the reviews for that. Is it scary movie six? Let's see here. Scary movie six.

All Alright. Twenty four percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, you just never know. Like the movie Joe Dirt. I think it's got like four percent on Rotten Tomatoes. And I think it's a funny movie. I like it.

Makes me laugh. So 24% for scary movie. Alright, audience meter, they gave it 65%, so it might be pretty good. Alright, let's uh go to the phones here. Maybe somebody's got a good recommendation for me. K-Bear, you are live on the show. Keep that in mind. Who's this?

Speaker 2: Josh. Okay. What's up, dude? Uh nothing you would talk about funny movies.

Speaker 1: Yeah, what you got any good uh good recommendations? Tucker and Dale versus Evil. Tucker and Dale versus Evil. You know, I haven't seen that in a really long time. That would be a fantastic movie to go back and watch again. And it's got, you know, the the horror element to it as well. It's really good. So yeah. Appreciate the reminder on that one, man. Yeah, hey. Have a good one.

Speaker 2: The actors are coming at Salt Lake. Comic Con.

Speaker 1: Oh, are they? Cool. Yeah. Alright. Well, if I can uh save up some dough for road trip, uh that that could be a pretty good time. I'll have to look at their full lineup. Okay.

Speaker 2: Cool, man. You have a good one. You too. Thanks. Yeah, bye.

Speaker 1: Yeah, if you've never seen Tucker and Dale versus Evil, it's so good. So good. Yeah, scary movie. Uh is that playing around here? I might have to get out and see that one. Just to see something new that might give you a laugh. Online, you know, looking at 10 out of 10 comedy movies.

My cousin Vinny. I've been a long time since I've seen that. Doesn't stand out in my head as one of the uh best comedies ever, but maybe it's just been too long. Maybe I watched it when I was too young. Office Space. It's another classic.

That'd be a fun one to sit down and watch. Seems like we watched Super Bad recently. That always pops up on the list of the best comedies.

Super bad, it's pretty good stuff. Step Brothers, classic. Hot fuzz, really good as well. Tropic Thunder.

See, I've seen that too many times. I I could probably sit down and watch it again, but Becca said she didn't like that movie, which I thought was crazy. I think it would be right up her alley. It's so out there. I'm noticing that uh these movies that are being listed are what, about uh 20 years old?

Yeah. Airplane, the classic airplane. Loved that movie when I was a kid. Alright, blazing saddles always pops up on these lists. The big Lebowski. I haven't watched that in a while.

Did recently watch the 40-year-old Virgin. That's that's pretty funny. Galaxy Quest. Have I ever seen that?

I don't know. Well, you there you you do sure seem to see the same movies pop up on these lists, don't you? Like the hangover, okay. Dumb and Dumber, alright. Monty Python in the holy grail, okay. Something about Mary.

Haven't seen that in a long time. Friday, same deal. Okay, Hollywood, you need to get on the comedy thing. Alright. Again, not complaining about being in a golden era of horror, but we need some laughs.

Alright. There are some pretty good laughs in some of the recent uh comedies. Well, or horror movies that have come out. Like I think Obsession was pretty funny a lot of the time. Weapons, it had some funny parts.

So, yeah, gotta like when they throw in a little humor. Yep, lucky for you kids. School is out.

Hope you're enjoying summertime. Wish work was out today. Hey, speaking of work, maybe you're dissatisfied with your job.

Go check it out. So I don't gamble. I always lose. It's just a waste of money. Might as well just like that money on fire if I'm gonna do any gambling. So I'm not super familiar with how these prediction markets and things are working.

I think you can just basically bet on anything, right? What are some of the names of the sites? I don't know. I had uh an article up here about one I'd never heard of.

This was one where you you could bet on wildfires. Um this does not sound like a good idea to me. Because here's the thing. We've seen with some of these prediction markets, suspicious uh suspicious bets and things like that. You know, people betting thousands of bucks on oh uh maybe we're gonna go ahead and take the leader of Venezuela or whatever, and then all of a sudden, you know, they end up winning tons and tons of money. Yeah, if you have a prediction market that's based on on fire, um to me that would probably encourage people to bet money and then go start a fire. Yeah, this is wildfire.

That's the name of the market. You gotta be kidding me. I this stuff's not gonna be legal for very long, is it? I'm kind of surprised it's allowed at this point.

Aside from the fact that, well, maybe people with some insider knowledge can use these kind of things to make a lot of money, and maybe that's why they haven't been banned. Uh, I don't recommend gambling, okay, everybody. Too easy to just lose all your money super fast. You know, we're living in tough times, everything's really expensive. I don't know how much you blew on fireworks, for example. Yikes.

Yeah, don't. I guess uh spending your money on fireworks at least, you're getting a show. It is technically lighting your money on fire, but you get a show out of it.

You get something. It's better than just gambling it away. So uh this wildfire site can't last very long, right?

Can't allow people to bet on I have a feeling that this portion of California is gonna burn to the ground. Huh, how weird. Well, I guess it's a good way to catch arsonists. Maybe. Ah. Maybe that's another reason they haven't left these things up. Maybe they're gonna crack down on crime.

Yeah. It's kind of amazing what you can find thrifting sometimes. Wish I could have this kind of luck. This kid, he was at a uh Hillsborough, Oregon Goodwill, and you know, he's just looking around, spots a golden purple LA Lakers jacket, and he's like, well, I just gotta have it. I gotta have this three dollar jacket. So he he takes it, and he's like, I don't know. I feel like I feel like this is a important jacket. What would give somebody the inkling that some random jacket was something important?

I don't know. Maybe this kid was really into basketball. But he posted it online and wanted to verify. hey, Was this worn by an NBA player? And turns out, it in fact was. Looks like it was authenticated as being uh previously owned by Wilt Chamberlain, who I'm not even a sports guy, but I've heard his name before. Uh the jacket has been matched to the 1972 NBA Finals.

Uh, they sold a jersey recently uh from that year NBA Finals for about five million bucks, and this jacket was what the guy would have worn over the jersey. So they say the kid, you know, you're probably gonna take home 150 to 250,000 bucks, but you never know. People with too much money to spend collectors, uh they'll drop some serious doll. Uh makes me want to go to the thrift store. I tend to only look at books at the thrift store, but I have had some some pretty good finds at the thrift store before. You know, as a book collector, every once in a while something really weird will pop up at the thrift store, and you're like, I can't believe this is 50 cents. Yeah, what person's family in this town took their expensive books and dumped them off, you know, at the youth ranch. Yeah, if you're a book collector, make sure your family's well informed. Yeah, on the potential value of some of those.

They can they can be worth some dough, they can be worth some dough, but I don't think I've even got uh thrift store money right now, so no thrifting for me. I bought a book yesterday. Well, it it was one of these weird ones. A homie hit me up, like I got this book in stock. It's a dark tower book that was originally printed specifically for schools, and I was like, Oh, what I've never even heard of such a thing looking at pictures of it. I'm like, this is bizarre. I've never seen this. I must have it.

Because I would think maybe that could someday hold some kind of value. It's a Stephen King book that was designed for a school, like strictly printed for schools only. And who is the most banned author in America in our schools? Stephen King.

So that seems like a collectible to me. Anyway, I better dig up some freak news. I'll be back, okay?

Hang on. You Got a few million bucks to spare. I would like this uh T Rex skeleton for my yard. I mean, it's only what 19 million, not too bad for a real T Rex skeleton. Well, that's the starting bid. 19 million bucks for Gus.

One of the biggest, most complete, and most expensive dinosaur fossils ever to be sold via a commercial auction. That would look pretty sweet. Just just parked out front for sure, but a little out of the budget. I did see on Facebook Market. Somebody was selling some like life-size dinosaurs in Rexburg. They were like made out of metal. A little bit more affordable, but...

Still out of my range, unfortunately. I don't have a few thousand dollars to put one of these awesome metal dinosaurs in my yard. The one they've got a picture of here, It uh it looks like a T-Rex eating a raptor with another raptor on its back. I mean, it's awesome.

It is sweet. Uh 7500 bucks, though. Dang it. Alright, well, my birthday's over, so I can't ask for that.

Let's see here. Are you familiar with the uh self uh what what phrase am I looking for here? He calls himself a psychic self-styled, I don't know. Are you familiar with Yuri Geller? Now I became familiar with Yuri Geller years ago when I was I'm pretty young.

Started getting into magic, you know. How does this stuff work? How are they doing these stage illusions and blah blah blah? And after you know, watching a variety of material on magic, stumbled across James Randy, who was uh another magician from back in the day, and he had a million dollar challenge where if anyone could prove like psychic or supernatural abilities, he'd give them a million bucks.

And uh Yuri Geller was one of these uh self-proclaimed psychics that James Randy kind of debunked. Um, you can check that stuff out on YouTube. Very interesting stuff, you know. If you're into the paranormal and supernatural and blah blah blah, uh you know, James Randy and some of these kids, they managed to fool scientists into thinking they could do things like Ben spoons and all kinds of stuff like that, and then they come out at the end and are like, yeah, uh, we faked everything.

Uh maybe they should start you know promoting those videos on YouTube. People believe some wacky stuff nowadays. All right, oh Yuri Geller. The reason I brought him up, he was in the news claiming he used a uh a crystal skull from a Mayan Pyramid to help England get into the quarterfinals of the World Cup. I didn't even know this guy was still around because the whole uh James Randy debunking thing, I mean that happened way back in the day.

Okay, it says he's 79 years old. Yeah, I have a crystal skull, it helps soccer players win. Uh isn't there something better you can do if you have a magic crystal skull than make your country's team advance one game? What if they don't win overall?

Have they already been booted out? I haven't been keeping track of the World Cup. Alright, what else we got here? Another World Cup story. I guess this woman, she was she's celebrating.

She was really excited about somebody's victory. Let's see. This is an article from uh the US Sun. Well, basically, it doesn't really matter what she was celebrating. We'll just talk about how she celebrated.

She was hanging out the window of a car, and then she rips her shirt off, so she's totally topless, and then she just falls out of the car into the street. It looks very painful as someone who has fallen down recently. Um, yeah, it didn't look very good. And I'm sure it's just all the more embarrassing when you're topless. Like, had I been topless when I, you know, ate it in the driveway. I don't think I would have shown that video to uh Jade and Josh. I don't even know why I showed it to him. Jade was like, come on, you gotta show me the video. I was like, no, dude, it's really embarrassing. He's like, come on. So I showed him, and then I'm like, all right, I guess I could show Josh too. And Josh said some really rude things to me. Very insulting. Not very classy of him. Was it all right? We reached eight. Only what do I got here? Seven more hours to go.

Oh, it's alright. We got this, people. We got this.

I'm gonna drink more coffee. Well, we're a day late to the party, but I guess better late than never. Time to celebrate. It's nude recreation week.

According to the internet. Yeah, not even just a day. It's a full week.

Which started yesterday. Nude recreation week. Inviting everyone to explore the benefits of naturism and body positivity. Uh, you probably don't want to engage in nude rec- Why is that so hard to say? Nude Recreation Week.

Jeez! Anyways, we'll just call it uh nude week. If you were to celebrate it around here, you might have some legal problems. So I you probably need to celebrate in your house. You know. All I'll say is, yeah, don't come to my house this week.

Nope. It's a great way to keep people away, right? You don't want to see it with behind that door. All right.

What else do we got? Floating around in my tabs here. I got like a million of them open. Did you see any of the videos of people partying in Newport Beach over the Fourth of July weekend?

Becca and I were watching some of these videos on YouTube last night. It was pure chaos. 402 people arrested. Uh, none of them nude. This was prior to nude recreation week.

Um, yeah, maybe there would have been less arrests. No, trying to engage in fighting and things like that when you're you're naked. I don't know. It just seems like not gonna be as chaotic.

It's gotta be pretty rough to fight in the in the buff. Uh anyway, if you want to see some wild 4th of July videos, um, it was pretty much mayhem. So go check that out.

Peaches, did you see these videos? Newport Beach. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. They uh they had quite the party for the 4th of July. They were blaming it on people from out of state.

Speaker 3: Usually that city, it's the most uppity, like you know they're there's so upper class, it's not even funny. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I don't think I've been there. The people there will report you if you're wearing a hoodie walking around.

Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Okay. So no peaches walking in the hills happening around there. Sure, yeah. Oh, I just got the hiccups all this.

Speaker 3: If you want to find yourself uh a nice, rich, significant other, go to Newport Beach.

Speaker 1: Alright, I'm out, peaches. I need to. Oh, sorry, just playing, Becca. Just playing.

Speaker 3: Jeez. That was quick.

Speaker 1: Ah, no, I meet me and Becca were watching these videos last night. They were they're pretty entertaining. Even though, you know, you don't like to see explosions, violence, and things like that. Uh you know, it wasn't happening here. Our 4th of July festivities went great.

Speaker 3: We just have Rexburg currently on fire.

Speaker 1: Uh, is it still on fire this morning? I don't know. Yeah, I hadn't seen any updates yet, but I did share the uh the stories yesterday. Hopefully, everybody near Rexburg's doing fine. I don't know. Don't be dumb with fire people, okay? Don't be stupid.

Speaker 3: I did see the comments on the article that was posted about the fire, and some lady was like, I heard it was a plane crash. What? Like I heard. There's that thing again. I heard. Did you hear the...

Speaker 1: I heard is is not acceptable.

Speaker 3: Did you hear? Did you actually hear the plane crash into the ground? Yeah, or see it. Yeah. No, no, she was I saw. Oh, she said I saw it. No, she would have said that if she saw it.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Because I heard, I mean, I hear all kinds of things, but I don't share them with everybody. If I shared everything that I heard on Facebook. You I wouldn't believe the craziness going down today. Anyway, Peaches, I hope you're having a good morning.

Speaker 3: There was a listener one time that walked up to me. He's like, I heard you hate lunchables. Like, where'd you hear that from? What? I guess we were talking about lunchables in the year one time. Probably.

Speaker 1: Uh, because Josh was making fun of me one day because I was eating. It was an adult lunchable. It's the one that doesn't come with candy. It's just crackers and cheese, and

Speaker 3: he was he was making fun of you for having a lunchable. Yeah. Do you do you see their studio right now? No. What do you got going on in the middle? They're celebrating 500 episodes of the Wake Up Classy 97 morning show. So there's five, there's a balloon that says 500 on the outside of their door. And then there's all these like gold balloons on the inside. Wonder how many shows I've done. I I was gonna say you've done 20 years worth of shows here.

Speaker 1: I'll beat you on the number of shows, classy.

Speaker 3: I've done more shows than Josh here.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, because you've been around longer. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, good for you and your 500 shows. Weak sauce, bro. Get those numbers up.

Speaker 3: I bet the company also paid for their balloons, too. Probably. We can't get new chairs or anything, but they get balloons.

Speaker 1: I know. I got this cruddy chair. Oh. All right, everybody. It's break time. Peaches and I, well, I don't know. I'll be back in a minute. So a few minutes ago, Peaches and I were talking about the videos out of California. People just losing it on the 4th of July. Over 400 people arrested. And I pointed out that you know you don't ever want to see this kind of chaos, even if the videos are dare I say fun to watch.

Is somebody gonna get mad? And listen, when you see people shooting mortars off, and I don't know. There's something to be said for chaotic internet videos. Wish there was video of this. Even though I don't I don't ever want to see somebody get attacked. This is kind of an impressive attack. All right.

Now just hold on. This was in Scotland. A guy has been charged with assault after he grabbed two live seagulls and attacked someone in the street outside of a railway station. This was in Oban, Scotland.

Um I guess they didn't arrest the guy. All right. I've never picked up a seagull, okay. But I am trying to imagine what it would be like to dual wield uh two seagulls and all right. Did he hit the guy with them? Or did he just let the seagulls bite and claw the crap out of them?

You know. How was he holding them? Where is the video when we need it? There's cameras everywhere.

How do we not have footage of this? Um, no word on the well-being of the victim. I hope they're okay. They did say the seagulls were uninjured. Um, so they could take flight and uh continue doing things like I guess pooing on the king of England. The latest story prior to this one that I saw about seagulls in the news. Um the article goes on to mention ways that you can deal with seagulls. And this part I found funny as well. They're like, yell at them.

That's what it's what it says. Those are seagull trying to steal your food. Yell. Physical violence is not necessary. So you just yell. Hey, did you learn something new today? If a bird's messing with you, yell at it.

Yeah. Uh I really hope some video footage of this shows up because I I need to know more. I need to know more about exactly how this played out. But there was a man in Scotland who dual-wielded live seagulls in an assault on another person. And again, assault never good.

But using seagulls as your weapon, it's sort of impressive. All right, I better move on. Well, I knew we'd eventually get the firework mishap stories rolling in. And uh apparently it took till today.

But as happens every 4th of July, a number of people injured. I don't know about around here. I haven't seen any local stories yet.

Was looking at one out of Minnesota. Sky was just blasting mortars off out of his hand, just holding the tube, shooting them into the air. Well, one of them blew up inside of the tube and sent a projectile into his side, resulting in a uh trip to the hospital there. Um injuries that have not been detailed.

Uh, projectile inside. That is uh the only details on that one here. I mean, I hope there wasn't any that were like really horrible. Oh, there's somebody who lost most of their hand. Uh, let's see.

This was a child. Let's find out. Uh oh, it looks like another mortar situation. I got have to watch a video.

I don't want to watch the news. Don't hold mortars in your hands, is what this ultimately comes down to. It's a stupid idea. All right.

Highly explosive, very dangerous. Okay. Oh, yeah. There is some bleak news as we continue scrolling through firework mishaps.

Um, I think when people end up dead, we should, you know, maybe call it a little bit more than a mishap. Alright. Jeez. Alright, well, that I'm not gonna get into these stories.

I'll just say they're dark. Be careful with fireworks. They can be extremely dangerous. Ugh. Well, I I hope you've got all of your fingers and most of your hands. Uh, as we've you know, been rolling out of the Fourth of July weekend. Yikes. Well, I've got another news story here that's just kind of baffling to me.

You know, earlier I was trying to figure out how you dual wield seagulls as weapons. How about getting away with robbing a bank in a wheelchair? All right, Peaches, we're headed back to your stomping grounds, Pasadena. That's a So far.

Alright, well, I'm I don't know my LA geography that well, but I know it's somewhere in there. This guy shows up at a bank in the middle of the afternoon, 247 p.m. He's in a wheelchair, passes a note to the teller saying he's there to rob the bank and had a gun, and he he had one. Uh so they gave him a few thousand bucks, he takes off, was last seen heading south on Lake Avenue in his wheelchair, and then they just never found him. How do you get away in a wheelchair?

Did you hear my story earlier about the guy who used two seagulls as weapons to attack somebody on a beach? No. Okay.

I'm just I'm finding a lot of stories today that just don't make any sense to me. I'm trying to envision how you you know use seagulls as weapons, but I'm also trying to imagine how do you get away in a bank robbery. You played Grand Theft Auto. You know, the cops roll in. You gotta have uh an escape vehicle ready. I don't know, pretty impressive, dude. I mean, I'm not saying people should rob banks, but I'm impressed.

Speaker 3: I like how you think Grand Theft Auto prepares you for robbing a bank in real life.

Speaker 1: Well, all I know is you gotta get out quick. Same thread dead, you gotta get out of there quick. And wheelchair does not seem quick. I mean, even if it's motorized, it they don't go that fast, right? It doesn't say it was souped up, just that he was rolling down the road and disappeared.

Speaker 3: That'd be That'd be hilarious. You see some guy going, like, what was that unicycle we talked about up to 93 miles per hour? Yeah, you just see some guy in a wheelchair 90 miles per hour down this down the street.

Speaker 1: It's the only way it makes sense. Well, the Pasadena Police Department and the FBI are on the case. Not the PPD. Not the PPD. Uh yeah, it's been kind of fun day of news. Good people blowing their hands off, attacking people with birds, and I guess getting away with robbing banks in wheelchair. I don't know. It'll be fun to see what we come up with for the next hour of this program. So stick around and find out. Got a little bit distracted because my phone was annoying me.

I'm not gonna get into why. Uh, but my phone was annoying me. And then I, of course, stumble across this article about how maybe you should put your phone away and you'll never be happier. Uh yeah, this woman banned herself from social media, and she's loving it. Well, no kidding. Social media is bad for your brain.

I think most people know that, right? It's just so addictive. The endless scrolling. You know, you you fire it up, there's always some kind of a notification or something to check or something to do.

You can just sit there and waste away and maybe you've had a situation where somebody interrupts you and you're in the middle of doing something on your phone, and you feel that tinge of uh you bothered with me. That's not good. The real world. I mean the real world can be an irritation, for sure, without question. But the real world you shouldn't get a jolt of anger when it interrupts your social media scrolling. So if you can get away with it, I would avoid social media as much as possible. I mean, I gotta go through it to try to find content for you and post stuff or the stations, this and that, but man. I tell you, I know my brain would just in general be in so much better shape if I didn't have to read some of the stupid garbage that I subject myself to day after day with social media. I get myself frustrated with it. Because like, why are people this way?

Why? So yeah, uh, apparently it helped out her relationship with her children. Um, you know, they think she's more present. Well, yeah, she's not staring at her phone. Alright. So obviously, if you're paying attention to your children instead of scrolling Instagram, uh, they're they're gonna feel like you know, they they have a little bit better connection with you.

Uh uh children like, you know, attention from their parents. So just something to consider. Uh, stupid phone.

It's right. I should be able to fix the issue I'm having with uh my phone, I don't know, at lunchtime or something. It's just something dumb. I had to put my wrist brace back on, and it makes it hard to put the headphones on and wham wham, well, I'll just keep crying about it. Um just read a pretty brutal story about the band Docking. I I never really thought I'd feel bad for docking. I mean, I got nothing against the band Docking or anything like that, but apparently back in the late 80s, docking was huge. You know, they were like massive. And let's see here, were they were the support act on the uh monsters of rock tour. This hit 30 stadiums uh across the US. So the headliner was Scorpions, then he had Dockin, then Metallica, and Kingdom Comes. So this is right when Metallica's starting to blow up, and every night, Metallica would come out, crush it, and then docking had to go on right after Metallica. Alright. And Dockin, I have you heard him?

Alright. We uh we don't play much docking on K-Bear, but you know, tone wise, they're a little bit uh more mellow than Metallica. So following Metallica would have to suck when you're talking on this particular tour. So the band was talking to their manager, and they're like, hey, please, can you just let Metallica uh play after us? You know, after Metallica plays Master of Puppets, we sound like the Partridge family.

And because the bands shared their manager, uh Cliff Bernstein. He's like, no. No, you can't. You can't change places on the bill. And Dawkins, like, we don't care, you know, like we know we're making twice as much money as Metallica, just let them play after us. No. So, uh, according to uh Don Dawkins, the band's humiliation was complete following a show at Giant Stadium in New Jersey. There was a huge review in the New York Times, and it said, oh, where did where did I not see Van Helen up on this list?

Anyway, they said Van Halen was great, Scorpion's super amazing, Metallica, the new upstart's just breaking out in America, Kingdom Come was good, and Dawkins set a record number of hot dogs sold. Ooh. Yeah. You know, I've been in a number of local bands, and there have been certain bands that I'm like, yeah, why don't you guys go ahead and play after us?

Like, no local band would ever want to go after neck brace back in the day, right? You know, it's like, yeah, you guys go ahead and why don't you guys you play after us. Sometimes you gotta put your pride aside. Well, let the kings take the stage. Well, I think Peach has said he talked about this either on his Z show or maybe on his K-Bear show yesterday or today, but whatever.

He's like, you might like this topic. What are your most unpopular music opinions? Well, let's see if these are actually unpopular opinions, or if, as is usual, the internet doesn't understand the question and just throws out a music opinion that maybe a lot of people share. Alright, top answer right now is KISS is absolutely painfully terrible.

Alright. Um, I disagree with this statement. I think they got a few good songs, but Kiss is one of those bands that takes a lot of grief. I don't I don't know if that's an unpopular music opinion. Because it seems like you either love Kiss or you hate Kiss, right?

Not a lot well, I I guess I am in between. They got a few good songs. Uh, let's see. This person says Phil Collins was a great songwriter. Now, I'm not big on Phil Collins or Genesis.

They're fine. But I don't think that's uh an unpopular take there. I think Phil Collins is pretty popular. So saying he's a great songwriter. I think if you want an unpopular opinion, you'd have to go, Phil Collins sucks.

There you go. That might be an unpopular opinion. And I even know a lot of metal heads that like Phil Collins and Genesis, so let's see here. I don't care how talented Prince was, his music was mid. That would probably be an unpopular music opinion. And I agree with that one. I I don't know. Throw in some Prince. I just can't get into it.

Okay. And my family, half of them are from Minnesota. It's like if you're from there, you have to love Prince.

Last time I was there, they had a channel that played the Purple Rain movie 247 on cable. Like the why do people like this movie so much? Well, people like Chick Flicks. Alright. What else do we got here for unpopular music opinions? Imperfect vocals make a song better than completely perfect vocals. The super technically great vocals just feel so sanitized and soulless, but some slight missnotes or imperfections are what make the song great. Well it depends on the singer. Some singers are just great. Now, if you use computers and things to make the vocals perfect, then it's kind of boring. But you go see somebody live who can like really belt out some like perfect vocals. Someone like Devin Townsend or Maynard from Tool.

I don't know. I think if they screwed up, it wouldn't be as good as when they sound great. Let's see here. Another unpopular music opinion. Cold play don't deserve anywhere near the level of hate they get on the internet. Do they get a lot of hate on the internet? I don't I don't see a lot of cold play hate. You tend to see who would I say they're the most hated bands on the internet?

You know, Sleep Token, Five Finger Death Punch. Who else do people just like lose their mind every time they're talked about? Corey Taylor. Just as a person. Alright, what else do we have? Incubus are grossly underrated and underappreciated. Umpopular opinion? Prob probably, but I think they are underappreciated. If you saw him at the fair a couple years ago, they were great.

They were amazing. Let's see, this person says saying I hate blank is not really a music opinion, but merely an expression of personal taste that doesn't leave place for discussion. Yeah, I guess. Don't hurt my brain. I mean, it is, I guess is an unpopular opinion to people who like to say I hate blank. All Alright. Just because you don't like it does not mean it's not good or that it sucks.

I'd say that's fair. There are a number of very talented bands out there that I just don't get. Prince! We talked about Prince. I saw the guy play the guitar, seen many videos.

Very talented. But I just don't get it. Doesn't mean that it sucks.

I just don't get it. Thank you again for tuning in to the Victor Wilch Show. This program's a production of River Bend Media Group. To contact the show or for more information, hit us up at Riverbend Media Group.com.
