And here’s today’s news from Public Sector Executive – on Monday the 25th March 2024.

The Local Government Association is calling on the government to remove the bureaucracy that surrounds climate project funding.
A survey has found that councils are being inhibited by the red tape that surrounds funding for projects to achieve net zero, with 90% of councils being under the impression that funding is not sufficient to ensure the delivery of net zero by 2050.
By making it easier for councils to achieve net zero, costs can be reduced and the financial returns can be tripled.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority has announced that it has made additions to its corporate management team, to support it as it evolves.
Approved at the authority’s meeting last week, Janice Gotts will come into the role of Executive Director Resources, taking over the responsibilities of the most senior finance officer.
Matthew Cumberbatch will become the Director of Legal and Governance, taking over the council’s most senior legal position.

Glasgow City Council has announced that it has agreed on plans to create a specialist team that will help to unlock investment to support net zero ambitions.
The team will work to develop the council’s relationship with private sector organisations, with this bringing the possibility of £40 billion to contribute to net zero projects.
Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of the Council, said that "here is no question that the climate emergency is the issue of our times. To reduce our carbon emissions while also adapting to and mitigating the impact of climate change creates a massive challenge for the city.”
