[00:02:28 - 00:02:33] There are a few good moments in here. I agree there are few and far between I agree
[00:02:33 - 00:02:39] This movie is I mean honestly, it's just a superhero movie with spider-man and it's
[00:02:39 - 00:02:44] Like it's not like you could slap any other superhero on this and be like kind of the same thing
[00:02:44 - 00:02:48] This movie leans the most into like at the MCU
[00:02:49 - 00:02:53] Comedy and this is kind of when it was at its peak and it just doesn't
[00:02:54 - 00:02:59] Land I think like it's age poorly whereas. I think homecoming is aged like decently. Well, I agree
[00:03:00 - 00:03:07] This I mean we had just finished in-game when we watched this movie. This was peak MCU and
[00:03:08 - 00:03:10] So I remember watching some theaters and being like, oh, that was good
[00:03:10 - 00:03:15] We're leaving and I low key don't think I've seen it maybe more than once or twice since then
[00:03:15 - 00:03:17] So when I think about the same it had been a while
[00:03:17 - 00:03:21] Yeah, and so I think when I was seeing about far from home
[00:03:21 - 00:03:25] I was like, oh no, it's a fun movie set in Europe, you know
[00:03:25 - 00:03:29] He's trying to kind of like I don't tell MJ that he likes her
[00:03:30 - 00:03:35] Mysterio's a good villain. I thought all of that then I watched this again. I was like oof

[00:03:36 - 00:03:38] It's not that great. I
[00:03:39 - 00:03:41] think
[00:03:41 - 00:03:43] Yeah, I mean, I think I agree with you. I think
[00:03:44 - 00:03:51] All the parts here are worse than homecoming. Yeah. Yeah, I think the setting is relatively interesting

[00:03:54 - 00:03:58] like just not that good at all like it has that
[00:03:58 - 00:04:02] Blend MCU look yeah, like I think people associate with the MCU

[00:04:06 - 00:04:10] Mean, there's like a few shots. I'm like, this is kind of cool that they're in Europe
[00:04:10 - 00:04:14] I like that we're outside of New York for like one movie. I think it's interesting

[00:04:16 - 00:04:21] I think it's true and the setting doesn't really play any part at all in this movie. No, not a single part

[00:04:27 - 00:04:31] And I know that we're in a bigger universe and context matters
[00:04:31 - 00:04:35] So I don't even hate that Peter is grieving Iron Man
[00:04:35 - 00:04:40] Even though I don't like the Iron Man centric storylines. Yeah, like I think that that's healthy
[00:04:40 - 00:04:44] And that's what his character should do in this movie based on what happened in endgame. Sure

[00:04:46 - 00:04:52] Don't like Nick Fury. Yeah, Nick Fury is stupid in this like I don't know why he's here. He doesn't make I

[00:04:54 - 00:04:55] the most
[00:04:55 - 00:04:59] Paranoid person in the world literally they say that in the movie instantly trusts
[00:05:01 - 00:05:06] Quentin Beck when all you had to do is like run a simple DNA test or something and figure out
[00:05:06 - 00:05:10] Oh, wait, this is not Quentin Beck and this is the guy who worked for Tony. No, yeah
[00:05:10 - 00:05:13] That's pretty stupid. It would be so easy to figure out who this guy is
[00:05:14 - 00:05:18] And I know he's not actually Nick Fury, which is also stupid
[00:05:18 - 00:05:21] Yeah, I think that is also a very stupid plot point
[00:05:21 - 00:05:26] But whatever. Yeah, and then Jake Gyllenhaal. I think gives a fun performance
[00:05:26 - 00:05:32] But I don't love Missirio as a villain. No, I would completely agree. I think he's pretty watchable. I
[00:05:33 - 00:05:37] Think he like there's some good sequences. Sure. I think he's
[00:05:37 - 00:05:40] He's not just a placeholder villain. I
[00:05:41 - 00:05:43] guess
[00:05:43 - 00:05:46] But like he's above average maybe yeah
[00:05:46 - 00:05:48] I think Jake Gyllenhaal honestly like
[00:05:49 - 00:05:53] He's the reason why it's a decent villain to watch
[00:05:53 - 00:06:00] Yeah, I agree. I agree. But yeah, I think let's talk really quickly about Iron Man and Spider-Man
[00:06:00 - 00:06:04] Okay, because we didn't really talk about it and homecoming even though that's like a big part
[00:06:04 - 00:06:08] Yeah, we didn't actually that's kind of well, but I think it's worth talking about here because this kind of like
[00:06:09 - 00:06:12] Ends that part of the whole thing. Yeah, that's true
[00:06:13 - 00:06:16] Iron Man isn't really referenced much in No Way Home at all. So like
[00:06:17 - 00:06:21] Peter and Iron Man kind of that whole story arc whatever ends here. I
[00:06:22 - 00:06:25] Think here's my opinion on it. I don't like it
[00:06:26 - 00:06:28] overall, but
[00:06:28 - 00:06:34] It also does make sense in universe that he would idolize Iron Man and see him as a father figure
[00:06:34 - 00:06:37] Like that makes sense in the universe
[00:06:38 - 00:06:39] Yeah
[00:06:39 - 00:06:42] And honestly I'm torn. I think I don't even hate
[00:06:43 - 00:06:45] Iron Man and homecoming
[00:06:45 - 00:06:51] That's not like one of my biggest problems with that movie. I think it's fine. And again, I like that Peter is grieving Iron Man
[00:06:51 - 00:06:56] I think in context it makes a whole lot of sense. It takes up a lot of the movie. It takes up a lot of the movie and
[00:06:59 - 00:07:04] Yeah, I also just think the Edith glasses are kind of a dumb gimmick. Oh my gosh this and like
[00:07:06 - 00:07:10] Homecoming is fine. I think Volter makes sense as a villain, right?
[00:07:11 - 00:07:14] Yeah, I think this movie low-key nerfs Peter's intelligence

[00:07:17 - 00:07:21] It's like Mysterio doesn't actually pull off like the craziest like
[00:07:22 - 00:07:27] No, curry if that makes sense like if Peter is supposed to be this genius kid, which he is

[00:07:31 - 00:07:36] I mean he just gets himself in like these dumb teenage situations where it's like all you had to do
[00:07:36 - 00:07:42] Think for 30 seconds and make another choice and it would have been way better for you. I also think like
[00:07:43 - 00:07:50] Yes, he's a teenager, right? This is also Peter post-ingate. Yeah, he has gone to space and thought exactly
[00:07:50 - 00:07:54] Like if he had made some of these decisions in homecoming, I think I could have been like all right
[00:07:54 - 00:07:58] Whatever, he's kind of done nothing besides show up in Civil War for a little bit
[00:07:58 - 00:08:03] Yeah, like Peter's had a little bit more experience by this point and the drone stuff is really silly
[00:08:04 - 00:08:10] I think like this is trying to mimic some of the Ferris Bueller's day off John Hughes
[00:08:10 - 00:08:14] Vives of like Peter has a secret and he doesn't want anybody to know
[00:08:15 - 00:08:20] So it puts them in funny situations, but I don't think that's executed very well in this movie. No, I think

[00:08:24 - 00:08:29] Again, I mean this movie is lean so hard on comedy and it's not good comedy. Yeah
[00:08:30 - 00:08:37] Did it makes it pretty hard to watch now I want to talk about some things I like, okay? I think and it's really not much
[00:08:39 - 00:08:42] Like I get less seven different things off the dome that I don't like about this movie
[00:08:42 - 00:08:44] but what I do like is
[00:08:46 - 00:08:49] The Spidey sense stuff at the end think it's sick. I think it's sick
[00:08:50 - 00:08:55] I mean the moment at the end when he stops, you know quitting back from shooting him
[00:08:56 - 00:08:57] Anymore
[00:08:57 - 00:09:04] Good great moment. I would say even a good spider-man moment. Honestly to like kind of learn a bit more about how to use his powers
[00:09:04 - 00:09:09] It's a decent. I'll give you that. That's fine. No, listen. I'm not liking this movie at all
[00:09:09 - 00:09:12] I'm just saying that's a decent ish moment and then like
[00:09:13 - 00:09:18] Yes, this movie is about Peter in high school. So from like that perspective, I like him in MJ. I
[00:09:19 - 00:09:22] Don't think she's the best love interest for any of the Peter Parker's
[00:09:23 - 00:09:28] But she's okay in this movie like it. She's a decent high school love interest for Peter right in this country
[00:09:28 - 00:09:34] She's serviceable. I think that's fine. I think Zendaya has a little bit more room to shine in this movie
[00:09:34 - 00:09:36] Compared to homecoming so I like that
[00:09:37 - 00:09:41] Like that. That's I mean, that's kind of it. I agree. I I
[00:09:42 - 00:09:47] Do you think Ned is funny? Yeah, and that is funny. I think when Ned and Betty
[00:09:48 - 00:09:53] Act like so much wiser than they are you can be like, I know people in high school
[00:09:53 - 00:09:59] Who do this who thought that they had it all figured out and they were exactly this way. Um, yeah, I
[00:10:00 - 00:10:05] Think really quick. I think that's why partially I liked these movies when they came out
[00:10:05 - 00:10:08] It's because I was in high. Yeah, that's there when these came out
[00:10:08 - 00:10:12] And I know I mentioned that in homecoming but like part of it is oh, I was in high school
[00:10:12 - 00:10:15] I like being in high school with Peter Parker. That's cool
[00:10:16 - 00:10:20] But to like they capture that vibe and that's really great if you're in high school
[00:10:21 - 00:10:26] If you're not also again, this movie has an ace great. If you're not, it's not really the vibe. Yeah, I agree
[00:10:26 - 00:10:31] This feels very filler in the spider-man mythos and even specifically in
[00:10:32 - 00:10:38] Holland's quad trilogy at this point. We haven't seen brand new day, but there were four movies now
[00:10:38 - 00:10:40] like
[00:10:40 - 00:10:44] This doesn't do anything really this doesn't push Peter Parker's character forward
[00:10:45 - 00:10:48] really at all other than I
[00:10:49 - 00:10:54] Mean yeah, like the only thing this movie does is at the end it revealed Quentin Beck reveals
[00:10:55 - 00:11:01] Peter's identity which is important ginormous. I also like I know you talk a lot about consequences for actions
[00:11:01 - 00:11:04] This is a consequence for Peter's actions
[00:11:04 - 00:11:10] It's not the best, but it is it is something that happens because Peter made decisions. I
[00:11:10 - 00:11:14] Don't think the decisions Peter made were great character decisions
[00:11:14 - 00:11:20] I don't think the way we got there was good at all, but I like that this happens at the end of the movie. I do yeah, I

[00:12:02 - 00:12:08] Yes, but like if you compare that to Peter's journey with MJ in the rainy trilogy like right very different
[00:12:08 - 00:12:12] Again, I know these are set when he's in high school, but like this could have been done better
[00:12:12 - 00:12:18] I Loki think Peter's dynamics with Liz are more interesting than Peter's dynamics with MJ in this movie
[00:12:18 - 00:12:21] Yeah, I kind of agree and I hate saying that I'm not saying that like long term

[00:16:24 - 00:16:31] It is that it's so bad. It is bad. I'm not saying it's good and then Harry has like no nuance basically I
