More Than We See is a grounded, practical conversation about intuition as a human sense and capacity.
Hosted by Natalie of Immersive Spirit, this podcast blends lived experience, nervous-system–informed insight, and real-world tools to help people better understand how perception, sensitivity, and intuition are experienced—and how to work with them in everyday life across kids, teens, families, and adults.
Episodes explore the many ways intuitive awareness is felt and understood—from curiosity and excitement, to subtle noticing, to moments that challenge what we thought we knew. Along the way, conversations offer practical perspectives, simple tools, and steady ways of relating to intuition so it supports daily life rather than overwhelms it. This is a place to land for people who are curious, overwhelmed, skeptical, sensitive, living intuitively, or simply paying attention in a new way.
No hype. No dramatizing. Just clear conversation, lived insight, and practical ways of working with what we sense—alongside the quiet truth that there is more than we see, and that understanding it can make life feel steadier, clearer, and more alive.

You're home alone tonight. It's late. You're in bed, maybe reading or scrolling through your phone, and the house has gotten quiet. Then you hear something. Not a crash. Nothing particularly dramatic.\
Just a sound somewhere else in the house. You stop. You listen. Nothing.\
And after a few seconds, you go back to whatever you were doing.\
Then you hear it again.\
This time, you're pretty sure it was a footstep.\
What just happened in your body? Maybe you stopped breathing for a second Maybe your heart sped up. Maybe you sat up in that bed that you were so diligently relaxing in. Maybe you're suddenly hearing every tiny sound that your house makes. But here's what's you don't actually know anything yet.\
Sure Maybe somebody is in the house. Sure Maybe your house makes a ton of weird noises or when the heat kicks on. Maybe the cat knocked something over or the dog was scratching their leash. Maybe you've been listening to a podcast that just put an idea of footsteps into your head. But your body didn't wait for you to figure any of that out It reacted.\
And most of us would probably say that's a good thing Your body notice something That might matter. Okay. So let's change one thing. There wasn't a sound. You are laying there completely comfortable.\
And then for absolutely no reason, you opened your eyes. Because you knew someone was in the room. Do you trust that too\'85\
Welcome to more than we see. I'm Natalie So let's get into this. Because apparently the stores have decided spooky season starts in August now And Halloween decorations are appearing in skeletons are coming out and honestly I'm okay with that. So I thought we would get just a little uncomfortable today. Because I have been thinking a lot about intuition and fear.\
We talk about trusting your intuition a lot like trust your gut listen to your body, If something feels wrong it probably is And I agree with most of that. But there's a problem because fear lives in your body too. Just anxiety and experience and the memories and your imagination. And sometimes\'85I believe so does information that we pick up intuitively\'85\
Those things don't arrive neatly lay Your stomach doesn't tighten and then set a notification saying Hey this one's intuition. So what are we supposed to do with it? And can you trust yourself when you're scared\'85\
So let's try another one. You're walking back to your car It's evening not especially late and you've walked in this area for. There's someone behind you notice him Maybe a minute ago but there's nothing particularly strange about that. He is just another person walking in the same direction. Then something changes.\
Except you couldn't tell me what that was. You didn't hear anything. You didn't see anything happen. That something inside of you says, get out. Not pay attention, not maybe cross the street.\
Get out. So you cross the street. He crosses two. Do you leave? Of course you do At that point I don't care whether it's intuition or a subconscious pattern mission or survival and strength, whatever\'85caught that in your peripheral vision, I don't care what it was.\
Just go\'85\
But change one thing. Same walk, same evening, Same feelings, but there's nobody behind you. Nothing happened, nothing moved and suddenly get out. Now what? Would you still leave?\
I think I would It cost me almost nothing to listen to that But let's change it to something else. You're about to sign a contract. You have done your research Everything looks fine. The person across that table slides it towards you and something in you says, don't\'85\
Now what? Because walking away an empty parking lot is easy walking away from a house a job a relationship an opportunity that you spent years working towards\'85that's different. And I'm gonna talk about sunk cost but How much evidence do you need before you're gonna trust that feeling And does that answer change to depending on what listening to it's gonna cost you. There's a piece of spiritual advice I've heard plenty of times. Intuition was burst fear screams I understand what it's trying to say, I'm just not convinced that that's always true.\
If you're walking through a parking garage and some part of you suddenly says get out I don't particularly care whether your intuition remembered to use the inside voice. And there's another one Like intuition feels calm. Sometimes it absolutely does I've had those moments there's no argument happening inside of me. I just know something. But what if the information itself is frightening?\
Maybe the intuitive part happens first something isn't right And then your nervous system responds\'85to that information. Now your heart is racing Your stomach is tight You're scared. Five seconds later, which part was intuition and which part is fear. Good luck separating those And this is where I think we sometimes make trusting ourselves\'85\
really harder than it needs to be. Maybe the first job isn't figuring out exactly\'85what the feeling meant means. Maybe it\'85is simply noticing. Like something in me wants my attention. I spent a lot of time working with paranormal.\
I've investigated some places that are really well known for being haunted like the Stanley or hotel Congress there are lots of different places but places where people book a room partly because they're hoping something happens. You know the paranormal haunted goes to zoos. There is an expectation\'85when you walk in. So you're paying attention. You want that flashlight turn on you want the equipment to react.\
You want something to go bump in the night\'85\
Right? But one of the investigations\'85that frighten me the most wasn't anything like that It was a farmhouse in Wyoming. It was somebody's private home, and I think that's exactly why it was different. This family wasn't there for the entertainment. They believed genuinely\'85that something was happening in their home, and they were scared.\
And when we packed our equipment and drove away, they still had to live there. So getting it wrong mattered. And we started by investigating the house not for the ghosts like the house itself We looked at the airflow and the plumbing, where rain traveled thunder\'85carbon monoxide we established of the baseline EMS, the granite crystal all of that in the area. If there was a physical explanation for something, they were experienced. I wanted that because finding out the scary noise in your wall as plumbing\'85is not a failed paranormal investigation, that's just a really good answer.\
And that night there were things we could explain, but there were also things we couldn't We heard footsteps and sounds that we couldn't trace. There were shadows There were things that seemed to move past us. Some were captured on camera, some weren't. And I was also picking up something that felt connected to the history of the property with my abilities. It seemed to be\'85\
like previous owners were involved\'85older land based energy what I would describe as like elemental energy\'85probably connected to the property itself. Now imagine if I'd walked into that house and decided that everything I felt was automatically true. That's not intuition. That's not discernment. That's me deciding I already know the answer.\
And what I had to do that night was something I think applies far beyond paranormal investigation. I had to trust what I was experiencing enough to pay attention to it\'85\
and question it enough to investigate it. And I don't think that those things are opposites\'85So we did eventually, you know of course left that family with some things to do and they weren't particularly traumatic We talked about honoring the history of the property\'85feeding a special garden walking the tree line acknowledging the trees\'85\
for you know what I perceive to be those elemental owners of the land. Essentially what we did was kind of change the relationship that they had with that property. And afterwards things not old. Why? I don't know Maybe acknowledging\'85\
What was there? Change the energy? Maybe giving the family something they could actually do\'85changed the way they felt in their own home. Maybe once they weren't frightened and watching for something around every corner, they stopped interpreting\'85every ordinary sound as evidence. Maybe all of those things were true.\
And I don't need to force an answer onto it It was the guidance I was given and I think That's another part of trusting yourself that we don't just talk about enough. Hey quick pause before we keep going If you're listening to this show you're probably someone who think about this stuff even between episodes. You notice things You have questions maybe you don't always know who to ask. And maybe the people around you aren't quite in this conversation with you. That's what IS Town Square is for.\
Is the community space inside of a Mercer, where people like you grounded curious, come to connect. There are resources and tools and just amazing people with the four to five live events every month, and people who get it without having to explain yourself first. If that sounds like what you've been looking for You can find us at w w w dot immersive dash spirit dot com. And the link is in the show notes too Alright Let's get back to it. So sometimes you can trust your experience without pretend you know exactly what caused it\'85\
Alright so let's get back to where we started. You're lying in bed. You're drifting in and out of sleep. And you become aware\'85that someone has walked past you. You don't see them You feel them move through the room.\
You wake up a little more, and then someone else enters. This one stops and you can almost feel them looking at you. So this isn't hypothetical. I was in room two forty two at the Hotel Congress One of those zoos. It's the one with the bathroom that has a little small step up and the room is not particularly large so you can feel somebody looking at you.\
I had gone to bed I felt somebody passed me. And as I became more aware of the room another person entered, and I could feel them looking at me Now there's something important to this story and the reason I bring it up because I've been in a lot of a lot of zoos\'85\
I was around sleep. So that's information too There are perfectly legitimate reasons to ask what my state of mind was what my brain was doing was I dreaming was I partly asleep was there's something happening in that space. Those questions would never offend me They're really good questions because questioning and experience doesn't erase the experience. I still experience someone standing there. The question is is what did I really do with that information\'85\
Questions investigation, all of that And earlier that same night I was in my sister's room at the hotel and she's in room two twenty. I walked into that room before we really got going anywhere I felt like sorrow and pain and all of the things I had in my stomach I smelled smoke. And later we did you know, what we sometimes do when we're investigating is a little like invited in interaction we do a dance party with our EMF stream lights, um laid out and they all began lighting up at one point. I had opened the door and asked if anybody wanted to leave. And I felt like I was experiencing people stream past me but again this is kind of what I expected.\
What enters me for this conversation isn't proving anything that happened in room two twenty. Kinda it's the order. My body reacted first before the equipment before the interaction\'85\
So what was it responding to? I can tell you what I believe, but belief and discernment\'85can live in the same room. And then Sometimes your body isn't the first thing you know. Maybe your eyes are And I know your eyes are part of your body When I was at the Stanley hotel with my youngest son and a friend, We were visiting doing a little investigating And honestly we weren't having too much luck. Nothing particularly interesting was happening.\
And then the flashlight went off They'd been there for hours. And I looked over and I saw an older woman bent over it. I saw her. That was the first time I'd ever visually seen a spirit. I've seen many scents, but that was the opening moment for me.\
And suddenly that a certain question wasn't\'85why do I feel weird is\'85did I really just see that? And she saw me see her. Well anyway because sometimes the frightening part isn't the information. It's what becomes possible once you trust yourself about what you're experiencing\'85\
Most of us aren't gonna spend tonight investigating a farmhouse in Wyoming. Maybe you are that'd be cool. But you are gonna have these moments someone says something and something and you titans you walk into a room and immediately wanna leave. You're offered something you wanted and your stomach drops. You're about to tell someone something and suddenly\'85don't.\
That's what you hear. What do you do\'85\
I don't think the answer is treat every uncomfortable feeling as a prophecy. I also don't think that the answer is to explain every uncomfortable feeling away. Maybe start smaller Like what do I actually experience? What do I actually know about this? What could explain this?\
What is my history bringing into it And after I've looked at all of that, what's still here? Sometimes you're gonna find it's the plumbing Sometimes you'll realize you're scared because something reminds you of an experience that you have already had. Sometimes you'll realize you simply don't have enough information yet. And sometimes, something remains and you don't have to say what that is You don't have to know. And you don't have to prove it.\
You can simply just pay attention\'85\
I've been learning a lot about aviation over the last couple of years and there's something\'85that pilots are taught that I think belongs here. Like a pilot can be completely legal to make a flight still decide not to go. The weather might technically be within limits the airplane might be fine The trip might have been planned for weeks The hotel is paid for There's people waiting for you on the other end. Maybe it's a wedding like uh whatever, and still something about the whole picture says this isn't a good idea today. There's even a name for this pressure to keep going because you've already committed to the plan.\
It's called get their itis. And good pilots are trained to resist it. Because the money you've already spent doesn't make the weather better. The two hours you've already flown don't make the next hour safer\'85\
The people waiting for you don't change of the airplane is telling you you reassess with the information that you have now\'85\
I think we could stand to do more of that in the rest of our lives. Maybe you've already put ten years into a relationship\'85\
Maybe you have spent six months working towards this amazing opportunity that you've manifested. Maybe you're already paid for the trip\'85\
Maybe you've told everybody that you're going to do it\'85\
None of that gets to decide whether the next step is right for you. Sunk cost doesn't get a vote. And if something in you says stop, you can stop. If something says wait\'85\
You can wait. If something says get out\'85\
By all means man Get out\'85\
You can figure out why from somewhere safer. Because trusting yourself doesn't mean you'll always know exactly what every feeling means. Sometimes it means recognizing when something deserves your attention. Sometimes it's meaning investigating\'85Like that's that's where I that's where I go. Sometimes it means changing the plan, and sometimes it just means to walk away, even if you cannot prove why And you don't have to.\
Your body doesn't always tell you what something means. Sometimes it just tells you where to look And when it does\'85\
I invite you. Pay attention. Pay attention to that. So if you're lying in bed tonight and you hear a footstep\'85\
Well sorry I put that in your head. But before you decide there is someone standing in your hallway, Listen\'85\
Notice what happens in your body\'85\
Check the house. Check the locks if you need to. Check your animals but be smart. And if you know you're safe and that feeling is still there get curious. Because maybe trusting yourself isn't knowing exactly what every feeling means.\
Maybe is knowing yourself well enough to recognize when something deserves your attention\'85\
Your body doesn't always tell you what something means Sometimes it just he wears a look And every once in a while, You might wanna look towards the doorway too. I'll see you next time\
