Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Thursday, December 22nd.
November sales were weak, so retailers hope a hurry-up offense will save the day. We are in the middle of 4 of the top 10 busiest shopping days of the year. Yesterday, today, tomorrow—and next Monday account for roughly 40% of all holiday retail traffic.
It might be a tough putt. The last thing retail needed was a once-in-a-generation storm to roar through most of the US. Between airports and airlines struggling with cancellations—millions more will be navigating blizzard conditions over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house.
The kids might not understand why the Melissa and Doug Paw Patrol Activity Center isn’t under the tree—but hopefully we can all realize it’s not about the gift--it’s about the people we love.
