The audio edition of the Stewart Vickers AI YouTube channel. Each episode takes one AI release - a model, a tool, a price cut - and translates it into money for business owners: what got cheaper, who got undercut, and what to do about it this week. Operator credibility over theory, specific numbers over vibes. Every episode links the original video and the free Church of SEO Jesus community where the prompts and workflows live.
Open AIShip's GPG-6 tomorrow. Two new Modal names hit the pricing page overnight. If you route the wrong task to the wrong one, your monthly bill goes up 18 times. Same output, same prompt, 18 times the invoice. The window to decide which task belongs where opens Tuesday morning and closes the second your competitor's router beats yours to it. Most operators will miss the hour that mattered.
I'm Stuart. Sol and Luna land tomorrow, and I'm going to give you the routing map I'm putting on my own stack the hour the docks open, plus the three prompts that stop paying ASSTRAW rates the same day. Here's what's real. OpenAI's product lead confirmed a major release for Tuesday on X. Testing catalogues leak names three tiers under the GPG-6 banner. ASSTRAW is the heavy Modal you already know, brilliant at reasoning, expensive to run.
Sol is the middleweight daily driver. Luna is the cheap high volume one built for routine work. Dev day lands seven days later in San Francisco, so pricing could shift twice inside a week. Here is where operators get punished. The default reflex when a top Modal launches is to point everything at it and worry about the invoice later. On the old single Modal world, that reflex was survivable.
On a tiered world, it's a five-figure mistake. Classification, tagging, lead scoring, log monitoring, first draft rewrites, receipt parsing, routine code edits. None of that needs ASSTRAW class reasoning, not one of those tasks. But if your automation script has one API string pointing at the heavy Modal, that string bills every one of them at heavy Modal rates. I've watched an operator's OpenAI bill triple in a quiet month because a Zapier action was 5,000 tag classifications a day to the top tier. The tag was correct either way, the bill was not.
Here's the routing answer. Classification, tagging, monitoring, first drafts, Luna. Agent turns, replies, daily briefing work, Sol. ASS try only for the prompts that measurably fail on Sol, not the ones you assume fail, the ones you tested and they did. Quick ask. This channel covers every major Modal drop the day it ships, so if you want the next GPG, Claude or Gemini release to find you instead of you finding it weeks later on a bloated invoice, subscribe.
The copy-paste routing map for this video is in the pinned comment, exact commands and prompts I ran, and the Church of SEO Jesus is my free school community where the playbook version of this lives and where I answer when your setup breaks. Link below, watch this. Here's a real support ticket classification, one line. My card got charged twice this week, can you refund one? That's a billing question, obviously. I ran it against the heavy Modal, top of Anthropix line, Opus tier.
Correct answer, billing. Then I ran the exact same prompt against the Haiku tier, the cheap one. Correct answer, billing. Same word, same output. The task did not need the heavy Modal, the task never needed the heavy Modal. And every operator running ticket triage, review sorting, sentiment tagging or intent detection through the top tier is paying premium rates for a question a cheap Modal finishes in one word.
Multiply that by every ticket you get in a month, that's the leak. Now the math. 100,000 routing tasks a month, 200 output tokens each, that's 20 million output tokens. On the heavy tier, roughly $15 PR million out, $300 a month. On the cheap tier, roughly 80 cents PR million, $16. Same tasks, same answers.
$284 a month burned for zero quality gain because one string in a script pointed at the wrong Modal. And that's a modest workload. Double the volume, you double the leak. 10 times the volume, you're leaking two and a half grand a month on tag detection. And most operators have never once compared the two outputs on their own prompts, so the leak is invisible until the card statement lands. Now verify me.
com slash docs slash models yourself Tuesday morning. Look at the price column next to Luna, Sol and ASS true. Read the numbers off the page, then run your top five most repeated prompts against Luna and Sol side by side. That is the proof, not me telling you. Here's why Tuesday matters beyond OpenAI. 5 spotted in testing.
7 is out this weekend. Whichever tier OpenAI undercuts on Tuesday, Anthropic and Google match within a fortnight because they have to. The operator who reads the pricing page in the first hour and flips their router the same day gets a compounding margin advantage that lasts until the whole market resets. The one who waits three weeks for a benchmark thread on X gets the same routing rules a month later, minus a full month of savings and minus the head start on prompts their competitor already ran. This is the AI leverage window Tuesday morning opens. Two ways to handle this.
Old way, point every automation at the top Modal because quality first, worry about the bill in a quarter, get shocked in a quarter, freeze the AI budget. New way, route by task type, cheap Modal for classification, tagging, monitoring, first drafts, middle Modal for agent work and replies. Heavy Modal only for reasoning tasks that measurably fail on the middle tier when you actually test them. Old way, Modal selection is a developer problem. New way, Modal selection is a P&L line. Your dev flips a string, you decide which string.
Three things to do this week. First, log the top five prompts your stack runs most often. Not the fanciest ones, the most repeated, those are the Second, Tuesday morning, run those five prompts against Luna and against Sol and pipe the outputs side by side. If Luna answers them correctly, that automation route changes to Luna the same day. Third, and this is the one people skip, put a $50 a month spend alert on your open AI account. So the next time an intern points a batch job at ASS True, you find out in a day, not a quarter.
Nobody built you a routing dashboard, build a routing habit instead. One last thing before you go, the church of SEO Jesus is my free school community, and the full Tuesday routing pack lives inside it. The copy paste map, my top five prompt tests, the spend alert config, and the live thread I'll be posting in the hour the docs go live, so you can watch me price my own stack against Luna and Sol before you touch yours. It's free links in the description. The other release nobody's watching this week could kill a whole product category. And that video is loading on your screen right now.
I'll see you there.
