A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam
“Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”
Romans 8:1-2 NASB2020
We are not condemned, we are set free through the power of God. We are set free, not because we are innocent, not because of anything we’ve done to earn our freedom. We are set free because Jesus paid our debt, he paid it in full for all eternity.
Last episode’s scripture a little earlier in Romans said
“However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.”
Romans 4:5 NIV
My mom, the great theologian said this regarding our propitiation of sin: “Is there any more remarkable statement than this one? Our goodness is not based on what we do, but in believing that Jesus' death & resurrection has made us good. No other belief system on earth is so radical as this one. Any other religion bases our goodness on how well we follow the rules.”
Christ was, and is a Revolutionary. As He explained to Nicodemus in John 3:17-18
“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
Therefore, have faith in His forgiveness, accept the free gift of grace, and follow Him. For Christ has died and Christ has risen, and Christ will come again. That is the “adventus” (the coming) we are preparing for now!
Lord Jesus, we thank you again for your amazing and perfect love that wiped away all our sin. Thank you for paying our debt of sin. Thank you that we now have eternal life with you. Thank you for being a revolutionary. Help us to share our faith with others so that they too can see the glory of your amazing and wonderful forgiveness. We pray all these things in Jesus Most Precious Name Amen…
Shalom Blessings and Press In and Press On!
