Cinema PSYOPS

Trucker Martin "Rubber Duck" Penwald (Kris Kristofferson) and his buddies Pig Pen (Burt Young), Widow Woman (Madge Sinclair) and Spider Mike (Franklin Ajaye) use their CB radios to warn one another of the presence of cops. But conniving Sheriff Wallace (Ernest Borgnine) is hip to the truckers' tactics, and begins tricking the drivers through his own CB broadcasts. Facing constant harassment from the law, Rubber Duck and his pals use their radios to coordinate a vast convoy and rule the road.

What is Cinema PSYOPS?

Cinema PSYOPS is a weekly film review podcast where we experiment on an impressionable mind to find out why physical wounds heal, but Cinematic ones don't.

[Music]

Show Keep King short, but still feels long.

Fuck ass up!

This show still fucking sucks Just too many late for us trying to do a show Virtue single in how they're so wow Chip a style sucks This podcast sucks Chip a style sucks

This job is a fucking suck! Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

[Silence]

And welcome to the 539th episode of Cinema PsyOps. I'm your host, Cort, the guy that's super excited to talk about convoy from Also nineteen seventy eight.

While I'm doing the notes, I will be joined by a color commentator known as Michael.

My co-host.

Oh host that our theme song is like my inner monologue wrote it.

Yeah. I was just trying to picture how anybody would have complaints about how we've changed over the years and grown as people.

So uh that's Yeah, sadly enough.

Enough.

Yeah. All it took was have we? Yeah, all it took was me playing your clips back at you out of context for you to realize you needed to grow as a person and you eventually did. Yeah.

No, I don't believe it, but okay.

I don't think I have, but it's all right.

I still laugh at dick and fart jokes way too much. So I don't know, man.

Right.

Right, but mmatt compared to where you used to be, you've actually grown quite a quite a bit and I'm I'm proud of you and I'm not fucking around.

Wow, danke.

Thank you. All right.

Yeah. I've grown.

I remember what you were like ten years ago when we started this show and you're a much better person now.

Yeah. Yeah. Loud, drunk.

Now I'm loud drunk, but you know, I care more about other people.

Yeah, that's really all it takes to be a better person. I really do not give two shits as long as you don't hurt somebody else if you're loud and drunk.

Yeah, exactly. And I I try

Well, we're talking convoy this week, which may or may not be good to the people, depending upon what your feelings are for convoy. So

Yeah.

Uh uh

Uh uh I

I I don't mind convoy, but you know, there are probably people who might

It's an odd film in that it is the most hopeful and upbeat Sam Peckin Paul film I've ever watched.

Yeah.

This is the same guy who gave us like the wild bunch where everyone dies.

Yeah.

Yeah, that's right. Yeah, it's true.

Liter literally everyone dies in pretty horribly in the wild bunch, and then Sam Peck and Paul goes and does Convoy, which is based on a very popular song named Convoy.

Which may or may not be what caused this whole entire crazy trucker craze. And then they're just gonna take the plot line of the song and turn it into a movie.

Which they do.

And then you throw Chris Christopher in it and you know.

Fuck.

Yeah, because if you really, really need charisma, you just put Chris Kristoffeson on screen.

And just have'em stand there and scowl at you and yeah. It works.

That'll get the job done. Yeah.

Yeah. The man like smolders when he brood and he never not broods, so he's always constantly smoldering.

It's pretty hardcore. Um Chris Christopher's like a like

What like uh

A dude. You know what I mean? He's like a dude.

He's got this thing where he's just like, I'm Mr. Confident in who I am, and this is just who I am, and that's just how I'm gonna be.

Yeah.

Yeah. And like it's just this weird thing that That self-confidence that he projects just gives that like dude vibe you're talking about, exactly.

Exactly.

Yeah, he's he's just he's the dude.

Sam Elliott.

Uh th th those are just dudes, man.

[Silence]

Uh I get what you're trying to say. I I totally do, but I don't know if I fully sincerely believe the way that you're phrasing it.

But Sam Elliott does have certain machismo

[Silence]

These guys are just being themselves, even though they feel like they're completely out of place in everything that they're in. Like they unless it's a Western, right? Sam Elliott feels out of place in everything but a Western.

That's right. But yet he still like everyone still loves him and all the things he feels out of place in.

Yeah, because he finds a way to fit in with how he feels out of place. It's weird, but Yeah. Yeah. And it I can see where you would say That uh

Yeah.

that uh you know, we we would have that same kind of thing going on with Chris Christofferson, but he just always projects this like masculine dude vibe kind of thing, sure.

Yeah. But I mean, yeah, it's still it's it's just good stuff.

Yeah, again this is the most hopeful and upbeat of any Sam Peck and Paul film I've ever seen.

We've got

We've we have yet to cover uh Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, which may be my favorite Sam Peck and Paul film.

Mm. I don't think I've ever seen that. Yeah.

Yeah. Uh we may have to you know that branching off from the series that we're gonna do? I think I might have to throw Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia in if you're gonna throw in the toy. If we're gonna get that indulgent that you wanna do the toy, then I'm gonna do Bring Me the Head of F Alfredo Garcia.

No that's not even a problem at all.

Until you have to watch Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia and you realize how dark and dismal that fucking film is.

[Silence]

I've got used to dark and dismal in these trying times, so

Oh yeah, it's gonna feel like a fucking cakewalk after living in twenty twenty six. You're not wrong. You're not wrong at all.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right?

Right.

Well, instead of depressing the people with all of the facts about what the horrible life that they're living in the time frame that we are now currently living in, why don't we distract them with talk about the actual movie Convoy from nineteen seventy eight and all the hope that it has to bring and then maybe we'll all feel better about life?

about life.

Let's do it.

All right, so we're gonna take the break here. We're gonna play the Legion Patreon ad and uh a little bit of music that is about the movie convoy and the plot line of the movie convoy, but will not be the song convoy that's featured in the movie convoy.

Okay. Really? Yeah.

Yeah.

You said convoy a lot. I I don't know if you've ever even thought about how many times in your life you're gonna say the word convoy in a single sentence, but I bet it wasn't as many as it just turned out to be.

I have convoyed the word convoy together, so why don't we go ahead and take the break?

Let's fucking do that.

Oh, I didn't see it.

You call me cutting a new show.

How blows up the road

Okay, so that is not the song that was written that is titled Convoy because we don't have the copyright to be able to play that, but a song that was written about the plot line of the movie Convoy.

Yeah.

Which was based on the plot line of the song convoy. Yeah. So just so everybody's got that all squared away and they understand what we're talking about here.

Yeah. Everyone got that?

That's it.

Probably not. Long story short, too late.

All right, let's get started talking about convoy. Okay, so the movie opens with a sexual harassment version of duel in that a hot lady passes a trucker and then he has to pass her to check her out.

So she snaps photos of him all flirty like when they happen upon a pig that they accidentally force off of the road.

So he turns around and causes some dialogue that is our first question.

First place.

Son of a bitch.

Bitch.

Long buck please? Partner, you got the wrong vehicle. That gal in the XKE passed me doing about 80. Then she slowed down to 40 to comb her hair.

Yeah.

Wouldn't let me past her.

I'm signing you.

miles over the speed limit and reckless drive. Well that's a hundred dollar fine.

Surely is.

Well, hell, it was worth it.

What was why then?

That gal in the XKE doesn't have any pants on, man. I took a look down and bingo, there it was.

There I want one.

Didn't you hear me?

She doesn't have any pants on. Look at her.

She's just waiting there.

No pennies or anything.

Nothing.

Okay.

I'm gonna let you off with a stern warning. You watch yourself.

yourself, you hear?

You here? Yes, sir.

Uh brinker one nine with a smokey report.

We got a bear running east on I four oh.

His twenty's about a mile marker two four three. Anybody out there copy over? Uh tenfold the buddy.

I surely thank you.

What's your twenty there, guy? Uh we're eastbound about the same spot where you at, or? Well, the mile over the shoulder? Huh?

Oh yeah, I got an eyeball on you.

Same partner, it's a pretty fancy rig you're driving, ain't it?

Thank you.

[Silence]

I got a big ball sitting right behind me.

All the creature complex, man.

Hey, love machine, you ain't haulin' go-go girls, are ya?

Yeah dude, that's just what he's haulin'.

And the clear.

And they're closing up my sinuses too.

I hope you got the way for it to back up there, Catalyp. How about it? Now just simmer down, boy, back around down.

감사합니다.

Let's recognize who this is. Come back.

Negatory, who this is?

This is the Duck, yo. Bandit.

It's rubber duck!

Hey look here, Duck. I heard more stories about you than Jesse James.

Hello, Mike. I guess you know you're running with a real desperado this time. There ain't nobody more dedicated to the single-minded pursuit of cheap thrills than that old love machine, but it does move.

Hey Doc, what do you say we change his handle from love machine to pink fin this trip? Come back.

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

Hey man, I don't care how long it took you, Pigpin. All I know is that the paint is peeling off my cab and my fan don't work, so I'ma have to take the rocking chair. Yeah, yeah.

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

I'm moving out.

I'm buying. I'll break a 1-9, breaker 1-9.

Uh this the cotton mouth to the rubber duck. Roger cotton mouth, I got a copy on you. Uh I'm a 343 need to bear report, come on.

Well, front door cotton mouth looks like you got me and two others in your rock chair here. Come on.

I can't for all that stuff to be my pleasure.

Flash up. Breaker, breaker. The smell is getting intense back here.

Now who is this? Come on back. This is a handsome love machine over here riding the fastest smack machine this slab ever eyeball. That's all well and good, but from what I hear.

Bulldogs is pussy. What?

[Silence]

Terima kasih.

I'm gonna grab that alligator head of yours.

Well you ain't about to get me behind you, Big Ben.

And with that the pig played by Ernest Borgnine tricks the truckers into speeding it up so he can test out his fancy new radar or some shit.

Wow, that was felt really ancient looking at it, didn't it?

Right? Yeah, I was like, Oh my god. That was cutting technology back then.

And the speed fest of the convoy.

Kicks in and they realize they are busted in our

[Silence]

Damn it.

Nice day. Screwing it down a bit, weren't you, boys? Jesus, kid.

Hello, RD. Boys, this is the Papa Bear.

Been a long time. It's been six years.

Years.

Yeah. Six years.

I should've known that'd be you on the other end of that two-way. What two-way? The C B cottonmouth.

Couldn't have been me. I ain't got no C B. Besides, I don't believe in police entrapment.

Come on.

Son of a bitch.

Billy Well yeah.

Now I could write you up for uh Doing 75?

Just for the sake of agreement.

In old times.

Let's just say you were doing um seventy.

Which could come to about thirty five.

Thirty-five. Plus the insurance goes up another.

It might be just a bit more than that.

than that. For Christ's sake, Lyle, come on. Now if you boys want to take your chances in court, Hell, I got me a real nice jail.

I'll impound your rigs all safe and sound, and they'll just sit there. How much is it, Lyle? Fifty.

You rub me basket.

60. It takes it easy. This ain't an auction, man. Who gives a shit? I make more than them anyway.

Well, it wipes me out. I can't even eat.

I'm doing my job, keeping my part of the highway safe.

Yeah, well you keep it safe in a ditch somewhere feeding flies.

70. My ass.

My ass.

Hey, cool it. I can't call many more of them raises, y'all. So let's get out of here before we take something else. Easy come, easy go. Hey Lyle, gonna be one of us pretty soon, you know. How's that? Ain't ya heard the teamsters are gonna be organizing the cop

Not this one. I don't want no part of your damn union. Name my damn union, Lyle. I'm independent, remember? At least we got one thing in common.

Two.

There ain't many of us left. That's something fun loving bay you got there. But how you meet this guy? Uh, we go all the way back, while I'll give him my first ticket, and fully intends to be right in my last.

One kick in the Waivos Ranchero so now to turn him into an omelet.

Hey, y'all think you can stay out of trouble long enough to get something to eat?

Yeah yeah, let's go and eat. No, I don't feel like driving right now.

You have to buy me lunch, kick man.

Brain 19 to Raphael's glide in

Raphaels glide in.

Why is all this stuff on the table? You having a garage sale or something?

I'm just trying to get it all into one bag as I plan to be traveling light.

Oh, she's selling this stuff? No, honey, she's a bird of plumage. She's giving away her feathers. Oh, really?

Tell Violet I'm coming in. Twenty for three dollars and a salad.

[Silence]

Hey Violet, the duck is on his way. Woo! My birthday for you is coming. Uh, there's a ride for you.

Two thousand. I'm sorry, good

He's a lot of trouble.

But that thing out there needs a total rewire.

Why?

Here you should have this.

[Silence]

I wouldn't give this away if I was you. Here you go, Mary.

And we've been taking a hell of a

Beautiful.

Oh sure you are.

Hey look, it goes with the shoe.

Don't you want to see my ID, my driver's license?

Ever's license and I don't know.

[Silence]

Okay, we're down to this. Who wants it?

I'll take it. How much?

Five dollars. Ten. Fifteen.

Are you kidding? Fight over it.

How's it, Jack?

Fine.

Fill her up, will you?

I heard that this won't fit you. You know that red thing you wanted? That looked much better on it than this will. No man, this is smaller. Well, that's a stun.

Okay, well, yeah.

It gotta be a you know, something.

Can I help ya?

[Music]

Did you miss me?

Good, good. Oh Shh Take it someplace else, you know.

See what you made me do?

How's my black widow?

Oh, I'm still a widow, honey, but I cannot complain.

What's going on here?

Oh, Melissa, this is the duck.

She needs a ride.

What happened to XKE?

I sold it.

How do you two know each other?

This is the guy I told you about.

The one that told the cop that I was new driving?

You getcha?

Thank you.

Well after his proposition, I send him to the motel of his choice where I think he's probably still waiting for me.

Yeah.

Give her a.

Yeah. Do you want to?

Maybe?

Come on, honey, I got a little birthday surprise for you.

I bet you do. Don't you leave without me.

You ain't mad at me, are you?

Me manager.

Watch how I handle this.

Come on. That's my ride.

That's it, honey.

Come on, baby, don't be like that. Ski You know my heart belongs to you, Violet.

Oh yeah, sure, for about one hot second.

Second. Hey, well it's not my fault, is it now?

When you gonna get rid of that sorry old man of yours?

He's not so sorry, he's just had a little hard luck, then.

Yeah, no, I'm looking at the very worst part of it, ain't I?

[Silence]

No, uh-uh. Miss, his name is Pig Pen.

That's temporary.

No, you just wait right there. I'll let you know when you can come in.

He looking for a ride, a nice lady like you.

She already has one with the duck.

Thank you anyway.

I'll take you back soon.

Oh pig.

Oh, Pig Pen, uh, excuse me, love machine. Just, it's his birthday, honey. Give him a break.

Come on, let's go have that salad.

Thank you.

Yeah.

Yes, obvious man, it's obvious. Okay, it's ready. You can come in now.

Help me unwrap the present.

What am I supposed to do?

Hey Pigpin, look outside man. What do you think that fat slob is up to?

Two tricking plates, I imagine.

Oh, come and watch what I do here. Come here, we'll do something.

Oh man, I'm always game for some fun.

What is he doing?

Like a mess for the cop.

How'd you know it was my birthday anyway?

I know a lot of things about you.

Break uh can you hear me? Anybody over?

Yeah, I hear you.

There's a cop's bruising a lot, check your plates.

You know how to embarrass?

This dirty liar.

Hey man, boulder belly isn't heavy, boulder belly is fat, there's a big difference.

watch when he gets out of the car and he starts dancing around like a beach ball Turkey face.

He bounces like a quasi beaver.

Beaver.

Damn, you know, I should have known.

That's probably why he stoops so low to get cash. He's saving it for one little sex operation.

Glad to help and very nice talking to you, good buddy.

My pleasure.

Over and out of the way.

With that, we see Ernest Borgnine's pig park and wander into the joke and puke and attempt to menace everyone after the truckers talk shit at him all over the CB.

They know he is monitoring.

The bandana wearing lady tries to warn the duck about this in our third clip.

Duck. Where's the duck?

Nile in here, man.

Amen.

And he's got pain written all over his face.

K 10. How much cash you got in your pocket?

İzlediğiniz için teşekkür ederim.

I don't know what you're doing, man, but you better get your ass in here right now.

Hey baby, I'm sorry.

I gotta go.

How are you fixed?

Salam.

Bitch.

I am but I don't have nothing

I don't have nothing.

Well in that case then young fella.

I'm just gonna have to arrest you for vagrancy. Stand up and lean against that counter.

I said stand up! You heard me!

Hey, hey, hey, hey. Thanks, friends.

Y'all sure know how to mess up a birthday party, man. Well, it's late now, so let's just be getting out of here. Dark. Go get your things, eh? I'm so sorry about that. Oh, that's.

Hold that.

Hey, come on man. They ain't breaking no law.

What's the matter to me?

Your boy here.

It's going crazy, man.

He's trying to bust me on some bullshit vacancy charging.

And I'm not going to no goddamn jail.

Old lady's having a baby, man.

I gotta get home.

It's the truth, Lyle. She's over nine months gone, man. She's about to drop.

Yeah.

Anybody know who the father is?

[Silence]

Get over there.

You catch his ass!

Let me go! I don't have to take that! Fuck you!

[Silence]

Damn it.

Well, you blew Arizona.

Y'all better get to your trucks.

There you two.

You too.

Yeah.

All right, freeze! Well, we got real trouble now.

Yeah.

Stand aside.

I waited for you.

for you.

My car broke down. Excuse me.

Excuse me, please.

Get back

Hey.

Hey!

Wait!

This starts a free-for-all to beat up pig's fist fight, and every time a cop gets slugged, I just had to smile a little more or a little bit wider.

Every time a pig gets punched you fucking do a shot because life's good.

Actually if you do this in that scene you will get fucked and you won't finish the film.

the film.

Yeah, no, yeah, but it's still it's it's like making a drinking game out of the movie Twister where every time they say Twister Tornado or you see one, you take a drink. I've done that and it's dumb.

Dumb.

Ha ha ha.

All right, the fist fight itself is old school Western bar brawl style action, just like we had in last week's film, but it's still fun as shit to watch and was actually really well done.

Well done.

Lots of people smashing through tables and glass display cases and everything.

What what I tell you w I said this uh when I did my movie

Uh, you wanna me to get involved or get in love uh fall in love with your movie? Give me a good old fashioned trucker bar fight. You're gonna we're gonna have a good time.

Everything's gonna be great.

It is one hell of a slobber knocker fight. It takes some effort and the complete and utter destruction.

Of the choke and puke. It's really, really well done. Like it just completely destroys everything. But the truckers kick the fuck out of the pigs and then proceed to smash up the police cars.

But then Rubber Duck explains they would be better off destroying the wires and pulling them out of the vehicle than smashing the windscreen would be. So the truckers decide to go and do that, including Polly from Rocky movies.

Paul e.

But as soon as they actually take their hint from him and he starts directing them the right way to like just fuck over the law. I'm loving this movie just at this point so far. I'm really having a great time.

Yeah.

He was also the bodyguard chauffeur Ruddy Dangerfield, right? And back to school.

Yeah, who was also named Polly, who uh he doesn't get mad, he just gets upset and then Polly gets mad or whatever I guess.

Yeah. I get upset. When I get upset, Polly gets mad.

All right, so Duck states that he is heading for the state line after this and the rest of the rowdy as fuck truckers also decide to do just that. So they grab handfuls of wires from the cars and dart off for their trucks.

Duck says goodbye to the very sad waitress who wanted her body to be his birthday gift as he and Allie McGraw's character.

Mount up in the truck and the waitress runs off in tears.

The convoy tools up and heads out, leaving the cops chained up behind them in our fourth.

But you've got me silly and bang I've got!

Get you out on the road.

Here it is.

Here it is. We're bringing

कर दो कर दो कर दो कर दो Well where the hell are you been?

COMEON!HELP ME GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!

See if you can get a hex or anything!

I got it a nail file.

I need a bottom!

Well you know what you can do with your nail file!

Wait, wait!

Wait!

Talk to you later.

Okay.

[Silence]

Anyone of you jerks got a car?

You got any keys?

Don't just stand there! Come on, will ya?

HEY!

Hey!

Hey, I need your car!

I'm coming here in your car!

Alright, look at that, I'm sorry I we What are you doing?

Nothing off.

What do you mean, nothing?

What said you got in your mouth?

What are you kids doing on?

Get the hell out of there!

Get the hell out of here!

Come on, get out of there!

GET YOUR HELL OUT OF HERE!

I'll be back after your ass!

Break up, Brigham, how's that nose of yours, Doug?

Let's see who was pushing that cop around.

Yeah, I got off kind of a slow start there. I don't think it's broke, though.

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

Wound up, weren't we?

Weren't we?

Yeah, we were just fixing to bother him today.

Bother him to death.

Yeah. Till the widow own kicked his lights out.

You better move your ass.

How we travel now, Doug. We're gonna get a certain amount of attention real soon.

Hey, you remember that old road we used to use when we was working with Sharky?

Well, there's just about room enough on it for us, man. I think it'll give us a clean shot to the state line. You got the white rat here. I think old Pack can handle that all right, Duck. 10-4.

You got the lizard tongue here.

Tongue here.

Who do we got with us? Come on back.

Right here.

I'm a lectrous old lizard with love on my mind.

I'm supposed to catch a plane to Dallas. To do what? Photograph a wedding.

Yeah.

Well, you're not gonna be cashing no plane for a while.

Come on, get out of there, will you come?

Your turning shot!

Where's your turn? Get the hell out of the way!

Give me something to wipe this shit off my face, will you? Want some coffee? Good, because we ain't got any, I forgot it.

Okay, we're coming up on a hard left here. We'll be going to a four-way intersection. Okay.

Just have to comment there. Uh Ernest Borgnine's character is really fucking stupid and was trying to shoot his way free from the handcuffs.

And then the lady just walks over and pulls the stool seat top right up out.

And then he's free.

And just the look that he gives.

really, really felt like they were like, Hey, let's throw some smoky and the bandit shit in here with our nurs Borgnight's character.

Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Make sure Urdu looks bad. Um

It was really fucking funny though. Uh that was not a complaint or

Definitely horrible jump.

Yeah. I really enjoyed it.

Yeah.

At that mentioned intersection, one of the Truckers has a blowout or something that causes her trailer to jackknife and flip.

Turning the whole truck on its side, and people rush in to help her by the end of the clip. They get her out of the truck and abandon it in our fifth clip.

This is the way.

Yeah. If there's dialogue, you can see it.

You record it.

[Silence]

Sort of.

Let's get her out of there!

Alright baby, that's a key off.

I don't know man.

Jesus.

Is she alright?

Just g just get my stuff, please.

Damn piece of white jerk. I knew I should have bought myself a black truck. But come on, let's haul ass.

Y'all just got yourself a passenger.

Hey Witter, you alright?

[Music]

That's one.

Ha ha, that's one.

Is that crazy cup?

Crazy cop from the totion.

Hey, you have one of those t-shirts for ya.

Amen.

Watch it.

[Silence]

Holy Christ, I swear that was Wyatt Wallace.

Uh, Robert Duck here. Is that you back here, Lyle?

Got your ears on good, buddy.

I hear ya.

Are you okay? You need a meat wagon or something.

You'll need something else, you son of a bitch, once I get my hands on you.

Hey, until you get a little better control over that machinery, I'd suggest you lay off them acrobatics.

I'm gonna have the state police in on this.

And when we do We're gonna lunch on your rack, you son of a bitch.

Продолжение следует...

Hey, I'm sorry, Lyle. You're coming in real broken and garbled.

Uh besides that you gotta catch us first, right?

Ten years.

Little time will for good behavior.

This is Lyle Wallace.

Natosha County Sheriff's Office. Need assistance.

Uh

I'm down by the old farmhouse.

109. Amen.

Amen.

Well, I think I've had about enough of this. Thank you very much. I think I'll just take my things and get out.

Out.

If you want to just pull over, I'm sure I can hit your ride very easily.

Okay, I'm ready.

I'm ready.

Weren't you listening to me? I said I'm ready to get out. You want out?

Being chased. You want out, jump.

Do you wanna add the mana to your collection?

Man acts for 18-year-olds, not...

Someone who's seen the best out of thirty.

My name is Bob Bookman, sir, and I hate truckers.

Lyle Wallace. Sheriff's Office.

Natoshakardi.

Ah, get your hands off me.

It's around her somewhere. It's an old back way into New Mexico. My God, here we are.

Get ready for a hard turn.

They find the old back road they were looking for at the end of the clip, and that takes us over the first third of the film.

Yeah.

for the whole first thirty seven minutes of the film for this discussion, my friend.

friend yeah yeah and it's uh I mean it's a first of all it's a it's much like m uh a

uh high ballin, it's fun. It's fun. Y y if a trucker movie's fun th that that that's all it really should be. It should be just a fun movie to watch. You know, not like funny. It doesn't have to be funny, but like yo

Fun. Like I I'm having a good time watching this. Am I learning anything? No.

Am I ever gonna like carry any life lessons from this movie with me? No. But I had fun watching it. And really that's all that matters.

Yeah.

It was a decent brawl that they have where they actually have the fights happening. I thought that was actually really cool. I dug that.

I dug that.

There was really good uh fight scenes. Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah definitely.

Yeah, definitely. The fight scenes were great.

They were really well choreographed.

way that it was filmed, I mean, just like you would expect from Sam Peck and Paul, the violence is just impeccably done.

Yeah.

Definitely what we've gotten so far. The thing that has surprised me though

is the truck driving porn they were able to actually squeeze out of the surroundings and like we comment on it on these various movies. We didn't really mention it in highballing, although there were several shots of things that were really well done.

We're in like sort of a desert land area now that they're going to be running in.

And there's several sequences where there is white sand on either side of the blacktop that looks like it might have been snow over the desert land that was absolutely gorgeous that opened the film that we can talk about right now. I mean, wow.

So yeah, it was yeah, great looking. Everything was really good looking. Uh uh as far as the shots, uh Um yeah, I have

I've uh I have no notes on that. Those uh there was some great cinematography going on around here.

Yeah, there's a lot of really wide vistas.

Featuring the trucks driving through some really gorgeous landscapes.

Like, yeah.

Where you can tell that it's

Way better than my movie, because my movie was just Canada and that's it.

Well, yeah.

Well what I was getting at is Sam Pecken Paul was basically filming this as if it was a western, only the modern cowboy is the truck driver. That's exactly what this film is stylized as.

And once you get in on that ride and you're down with that.

You're gonna have a good time with this movie. You just have to. Think it. You know.

You know. Agreed. Yeah. Agreed. Uh

Is it a little overlong? Yes, we're only in the first third, and we're just now getting the start of the convoy going.

You know, where uh a bunch of truckers are gonna join in once they hit New Mexico, then it really gets going and becomes a thing.

But this is just the very start and we're already one third of the way through the film.

So it's it's

Fucking awesome. I'm I'm I'm really having fun with it. Yeah, well I I I'm very happy we we have all these uh great times that we've had.

Yeah.

Well, we're gonna be picking up in the middle act uh to really kind of get going with where when the actual convoy happens and holy crap does it become a thing.

Yeah, it's it's gonna be a thing. It's a thing.

Ha ha ha.

It's a thing.

You're not close to that.

W thing. Yeah.

Yeah.

All right, so why don't we get started on the middle act? All right.

Let's do it.

All right. So the middle act picks up with the convoy making a big turn onto this old dirt road. They are talking about to take them over the state line. And since there's C B dialogue, that is ours.

[Music]

Damn road, it's a trail.

Don't you do me a f-

[Music]

Oh shit!

an invisible escape room.

They'll never catch us now.

Exactly.

Now here's the plan.

Terima kasih.

When we get them done now.

We'll put on our fish costumes.

Thank you.

And I'll have

I'll hand out the man.

out the Vaseline and extra ration of road for the men.

That should do it. There they are.

Take a dirt road, off to your right. God. Look at all this dust. Why don't you hold your window up tight? Hey, uh.

This is the duck, the big pigeon. Y'all still with us back there?

Now Waterfed is slouching around somewhere it's gonna break. Hasn't had this much action since I've caught those twins in Carl's bed.

I'm just following your smell, Pigpin.

WATCH YOUR TIME!

[Music]

Shut up for you driving son of a bitch!

I told them to get on one side or the other!

Get on one side of the road or the other.

እእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእእ Oh we can't wait now.

Now.

You gotta turn this damn thing over!

There's no point in getting mad, okay?

Hey man, I'm scared to death! I know!

No And that starts a dance of dust covered maneuvers where the truck drivers do their best to outmaneuver the cops on these fucked up barely cow pass dirt roads that is Yeah.

Set up to a whimsical and almost cartoon-like score. You kind of hear it at the end of the clip there.

And I can't believe I did this in my notes, but I did this to myself. As they all dip, duck, dodge, dive, and drop their way around.

They can die. There you go. You're doing great.

Around this old as fuck Cal Pass Dirt Road. It is fucked up.

I've lived very rural and that is one of the most fucked up country roads I've seen.

Yeah, that was...

I would like to point out that stunt work and the filmmaking process of all of this is so well done for sure. This stuff particularly where they're just driving around these roads

Yeah.

are is really well done, especially all the car crashes.

Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, no the choreography, the chasing, uh it's all Yeah.

That's for sure.

I'm not gonna take my time to describe it all, but there are cars bottoming out and sanding out and just sliding into shit or just falling off the edge of stuff because of all the dust the c the trucks are kicking up and the cars can't see shit and it's really well done and you need to see it.

Yeah, yeah, don't watch it.

Well the last car crash that we were mentioning leads to our seventh.

What happened to him? I don't know. He's pulled off here for some reason or another.

Them cops ain't at the bar today on their driving. Why just went over the side? Well, there's some bad dribble, let me tell you, Doug. They're falling all over the road over here.

Yeah.

Some more of that music we were talking about as the cops are crashing out.

Yeah.

Vielen Dank.

This is very classy.

Yeah.

Yeah, the end of the clip leads into more footage of the trucks plowing their way through this dirt road and the cops falling out or having their cars go into shit into the sand.

And get all bogged down. This ends with all of the truckers and a single car, cop car that leads to more CB chatter and R. Eighth clip.

Yeah, yeah.

[Silence]

Terima kasih.

Breaker, this is Spider-Mike at the back door. Got us a smokey coming up fast. I'ma see if I can't slow him down a taste.

I see him here, left. Watch out!

And a boy!

You lousy son of a...

Well Pink Pen, I think he deserves a break today. What do you say? Why don't we just uh let him on through, don't you know? Hey that's your

I'm gonna close this door. I'm getting a draft.

We're hooked up!

You must have a bad trap.

because you sure have caught

I've caught one.

I think you boys been practicing.

Sheriff.

[Silence]

Calling the sheriff of Natchez. Do you read me? Uh, this is Chief Stacy Love, uh, Awal Dulce, New Mexico. I got a copy on you. I'm on Highway 109. I'm on the trail of a convoy, a runaway trucker.

They're being led by a man called Rubber Duck, I suspect. And they'll be crossing your state line pretty quick. Uh, thank you, sir. We'll give you any help we can. Uh We'd appreciate it.

If you send a a car

New pair of pants. Attention, all units! Attention, all units! This is Chief Stacy Love. Come back, please.

New Mexico!

Here we go.

[Silence]

Thank you.

New Mexico, I'm supposed to be in Texas.

Again, that wasn't that bad.

Alright guys, this is Love Machine.

Looking at them rigs up on the hill.

Uh 10 Roger, we got ya. Come on.

Thank you.

I'll let you know it up there, fellas.

All right.

We're waiting for you guys. We've been listening to you modulate for the last half hour and we can get to what all's gone down and uh we want to give you guys some congratulations, especially the rubber duck for a job well done.

Hey, we thank you very much fellas. Gen 4. Um if it'd be all right with you guys a bald eagle sneaky snake train this here is big nasty, uh we'd be right proud to be part of your little old convoy.

Yeah, sure, why not? Just slip in the back door, fellas. We sure do, thank you all. And we all be proud to take a back door to the rubber duck. Hey, don't forget about it.

Hallelujah. Looks like we've got some...

What you looking for?

I thought I'd have a beer. Do you want one?

No thanks, I'm trying to quit.

But you can get me one of those t-shirts that's on the dresser back there.

Here you go.

Thank you.

You're welcome.

You know, a couple of years ago I was living with a man I didn't like very much.

He talked me into doing something I really didn't want to do.

Hang gliding.

Speak up, honey. Hang gliding, but I tried it.

You know what? I was right. I hated it. 50 trucks. A whole convoy of trucks busting. I mean they're running like there wasn't even...

[Silence]

Thank God it worked.

How about the boyfriend?

Thank you.

Thank you.

Kids.

Uh-uh. I was married. I got a couple of kids living up in Spokane.

Do you ever get to see them?

When I can.

They're okay. They got a good mama.

Do you know how big this thing is?

How big? Look!

[Silence]

Hey.

I swear we got a goddamn convoy.

Look at us, you crazy thing!

Everywhere. I can't believe it. Why? Don't ask me, ask them. I'm running for my life myself. Yeah, but they're all following you.

No they ain't. I'm just in front.

By the time we found old Stacy's Down less trucks with a heaven of ball.

His watch out sign on the county line and them bears was ball to wall. They even had a bear in the air.

Come on.

Hey Doc, there's a bear in the air!

Attention!

All trucks, all trucks, attention!

Thank you.

This is Federal Agent Hamilton. I'm ordering you to stop your vehicles immediately. You are traveling in violation of federal law.

It says chemicals. That's explosive, Lyle. Nitromanite, class B explosive. I don't know what that'll do, but I wouldn't want to be in the immediate vicinity when we make contact with your damn roadblock.

What what

Yeah.

I ask you, sir.

Yeah.

Is he mentally best suited for it? I that's probably debatable, but is he the most willing to do it in this film? Apparently.

Apparently.

Listen, if you're mentally willing to drive around explosive chemicals, you shouldn't be driving around explosive chemicals. I'm just saying. You 'Cause you crazy motherfucker.

And I say damn the devil nickel.

It'll be a pleasure to have you join a convoy, 18 Wheeler. Come ahead on. Camp 4.

Duck, did you see what you did?

I think they're on our side.

Thank you.

Citizens of New Mexico, many of you may have heard that we seem to be having a phenomenon in our state. Six trucks crossed our border.

They were soon joined by many, many more. It seems they're not interested in stopping.

They've ignored roadblocks and official orders. My God, take a look, ladies and gentlemen. Can you see that? They seem to have grown. It's not six of one and half a dozen of another anymore. It's 25, 50, 100. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm looking back, back.

Back as far as I can see!

There's just no end to it. Now we're here. We're gonna find out who they are!

They are.

So far no one's been hurt except uh maybe the pride of a couple of law enforcement officers. Breaker 19 to the rubber duck. Breaker 19 to the rubber duck. Breaker19 to the rubber duck. My name's Chuck Arnaldi. I'm a special assistant and press representative for Governor Hack.

Of New Mexico. I'd like you to know that Governor Haskins has had a longtime interest in the problems of the trucking industry and would like to help work out some of those problems.

Uh which ones do you have in mind, Over? We'd like to know is this convoy some sort of

Protest demonstration. And if it is, what's its purpose? The purpose of the convoy is to keep moving. Ask him what he wants to know. You wanna run this? Hey, look, I'm a little busy right now.

Right now.

As you can see, why don't you uh try and talk to some of them back there? All right, well do, rubber duck. Um I'll be back to you later. 10 4.

Where you can spend the night. Now look, the police have orders not to bother you. That's the truth. Bullshit. Can I level with you? Level with me.

Talk to him off the record!

I don't want this on the television, I don't want this printed. Can you hear me? Yeah.

Wow. The film is taking its time, but man, the story they start building here.

Wow.

Yeah.

Yeah, there's a convoy so giant that they draw the attention of a governor of a state who wants to Basically, get his way into the Senate by pretending like he is behind a bunch of truckers and using their visibility to get famous.

And they kinda know it, but they also want to use him to not get into trouble, which is kind of interesting.

Kind of interesting. Yeah, right. It's like uh b well I mean, i it's smart. It's smart business. Listen, if you can get away with it and use somebody else, he's using them, you might as well use him.

I get it. I totally get it. But I also understand why we're about to see what we're gonna see when we start the final act of the film and the way Chris Christofferson's character

Yeah.

Reacts about it, you know. Yeah. Like I get what the film's trying to tell us about it, but at the same time I'm also kind of

on your side of the belief that yes, uh you have racked up several really horrific charges that you would probably need a governor to get yourself out of. So yeah, you should probably play ball with this guy, even if he is kind of a scumbag.

Yeah, you definitely the guy might be a scumbag but he's gonna be the only way you're you're gonna stay out of, you know, prison.

Ha ha ha.

Right. Like you have an opportunity here and he's got the means, you should probably take it, right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Don't don't don't just yeah. Just let'em yeah, you go ahead, you just take that and you you run with that.

Yeah.

Why don't we get started with the final act of the film? What do you say?

What do you say? Let's do it.

All right, so the final act of the film starts at sunrise and our well Tenth clip also starts at sunrise.

This is how you...

Rubber duck and the convoy.

Bobby, you know you're ready, something.

I'll come back.

Nah, wait a minute, man.

What you got in your mind.

Let's go off this merry go round. I didn't fight my way out of the room. Breaker 1-9 for 1033. Spider Mike's in jail in Alvarez, Texas. Tinies beat him half to death.

He needs help.

Breaker breaker. This is Mother Truck.

Yeah.

Ten thirty three emergency.

Urgency repeat.

Spider Mike needs help.

I don't know what to do, Bobby. I've been thinking about all those towns we're going through and all them people who was cheering this man. People falling in behind us. And I think I figured it out.

The only reason they're coming in behind us is who the hell else they got. Nobody, that's who. This guy up here, man, he may not be any straighter than anybody else, but he sees something down here that he wants to use.

Or he wouldn't even be messing with us. So that means he's worth dealing with. Look at all that people.

When I split cookies, the faster I run, the less I have to split.

Break play.

Break one nine for the first one.

Nine for ten thirty.

Yeah.

This is the midnight.

You're sure the perimeters are made, yeah.

Jack.

Glad you could take the time to see me. I mean, I know how busy you are. Boy, it looks like you got a hell of a cross-section of people here.

I mean there's no question that uh Well, most of their bitches are probably the gentlemen.

But you know, uh, I think the question we're facing is, uh, how do we take effective action together? I mean, I know your cause or causes should be defined, and uh Katie, darling, knowing. Governor Wilson.

Obrigado.

Tack så mycket.

Good, let's go to the tin, all right? Well just have a little talk with the duck. We got a legitimate hero here, you know, a public.

I think we're going to be able to do that.

A lot of people are upset over the

This is white line. I mean it's obvious this represents something more than the banning of the 55 mile.

He's got Spiderman in jail and they beat him up bad.

And my age, we can uh draft up the list of your greeting.

[Silence]

I'll tell us gun spy the mark in jail. I'll split his skull wide open. I will be elected.

Hello Bertie. Good to see you guys. Okay.

Oh, Governor Haskins.

She's so happy to-

So happy to have you here now, McGurkey.

Well it's great to be here'cause you're doing such a wonderful job. All of you and in fact

I'd like to just have a moment alone in my own. Just a minute. You know better than that. I'd like to have a moment alone.

With the duck.

And then I'll be happy to talk to all of you, Henry.

Yeah.

Everybody out please.

We've got deadlines to be on.

Think he's gonna need some help.

Yeah, let's go.

But I'll give you my word that I'll apply all the pressure I can.

And I can apply pressure. But I wouldn't plan a return visit to Arizona for a while if I were you. I don't.

Good. Black or white?

What'd you have in mind?

Live. What else you have in mind?

I wanna take you to Washington DC.

Which is just what you become.

See I need you there Doc.

Come on, Red.

Come on, Reverend, we've got a problem.

No problem.

Yeah, yeah.

Very good.

I think you need me here.

All of it.

Okay, let us...

Okay, let us throw it back.

Thank you.

Spider Mike.

Lyle and Tiny Alvarez have him in truck as hell. I hear they beat him yeah, I hear they beat him half to death and got him in jail.

What the hell is Lyle doing in Alvarez, Texas?

Thank you.

[Silence]

I mean all of you, will you just grow up? Hey, will you help us? That's what I'm trying to do. Now I'm just one man. You know, I can't reach out of my office and uh pluck criminals out of jail left and right.

Left and right.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice the individual. Bullshit.

I'm in purpose.

He's right, you know.

Should take weeks. Months.

Don't kill this.

You started something very good here.

Look, I'll do all I can to help you.

But I'm afraid he's just going to have to film for himself for a while.

Is that it?

Yeah, that's it.

Okay, partner, I gotta go. You're in charge now. You know what we need?

And what we're up against.

Get what you can from the man and she'll help you.

You're leaving?

Why?

Hey, why does it always have to be you? I don't know.

Just when we were starting to get something accomplished. What about all these people? Don't you give a damn what's gonna happen to them?

Pretty mean is it's uh it's all right at the time.

That's not true, huh?

Well you can do me a favor, we can stay here and ace.

Watch it.

[Silence]

Terima kasih.

Stay here and help Bobby sort this out.

He ain't so good at stringing them words together as you are. Well you brought your.

I got it.

Let's go.

Amen.

[Silence]

You comin' back?

At the end of the clip, we see the classic reluctant hero trope is alive and well. And Duck doesn't want to be a leader. He had no interest in making a movement. He was just done being told what to do by asshole pigs.

And now the movement he made is

he will walk away from to save someone who is in the deepest of shit because of duck being duck. I mean, let's face it, he's not exactly being a hero here. He knows that this guy's in the trouble that he's in and it's his fucking fault. He's just stepping up and doing the right thing, morally.

Yeah, duck yeah, he's just y I mean, it's like, all right, fuck, I guess I'll help. Uh I don't know.

This dark twist is classic Peck and Paul and the kind of thing that I wanted for, you know? Yeah. It marks uh classic Peck and Paul and a difference from the generally upbeat tone of the rest of the film.

And honestly, going upbeat from this point felt really, really forced, but they find a way to make me forget about any complaints that I have. And everyone will know what that actually is when we get to that part.

Yeah. I mean...

Yeah, we'll get it handled.

But the basic point of the story that classic Peck and Paul is always going to do is everybody knows the dice are loaded and everybody throws them every time. Just to reference the Leonard Cohen song a little bit there.

Yeah.

Like that's Peck and Paul's thing.

and the upbeat

[Silence]

We know he's walking into essentially certain death, and yet they decide to go and make it happy, but they do it in a way that I forgive. Get what I'm saying? Yeah.

Yeah. He's like, Okay, I'm not gonna be totally mad about this. It's fine.

Yeah.

And let me explain to you why. So this creates a montage of Duck driving off by himself, the movement sort of falling apart and ends with Polly talking to Allie McGraw's character in our.

Oh clever.

Thank you.

To oppress people.

Please check the like it.

I just didn't feel like it.

Uh well

[Music]

Can I let your son break?

No thank you.

He's low made.

Long highway sure grind the souls off us cow folks.

The end of the clip has rubber duck pulling over to the side of the road, and then it cuts to Ernest Borgnine playing cards with that racist Texas pig.

Racist Texas pig is kind of redundant.

I know, it's like yeah, that's you just said three of the same things.

Yeah.

who are waiting on the duck to come fall into their supposed trap before the duck can make his move.

There comes up behind him the huge movement of truckers, which surrounds him and creates the big old line of machinery that is going to sweep the entire town in its wake.

Mm that's

Mm that's how you make me happy to have a happy ending.

at the ending.

That's how you fuck them up.

They go so many trucks wide where they are actually beyond the berm. They are actually on desert land, level desert land, where they're like rows like what six on either side of duck at least.

Yeah.

Yeah. And then multiples behind them. It just becomes this giant force of trucks where it is unbelievably intimidating. And you know they're gonna go destroy that town. And the anticipation builds at this point.

And you completely forgive the fact that we had a downbeat thing that is now going to transition into the most upbeat ending ever.

Yeah, of course.

[Silence]

Oh my god. Yeah.

Yeah. Alright, so

Uh

They fire up the engines and start enacting the song of the convoy once again.

The truckers start driving through town buildings as the main racist pig of this Texas towns.

Hops in his car, like the coward that pigs are, and runs for the hills, but he can't get away because the truckers surrounded the town before they made their move and are moving in from all directions, closing them in.

That's so rad.

So we get more and more shots of truckers menacing the town and destroying buildings. There are several satisfying shots of entire buildings being driven right the fuck through like a kaiju by the truckers. Oh my gosh.

Good stuff.

With the couple.

The coup de grade being the police station itself being utterly destroyed by Pig Pen and Rubber Ducky running in tandem. Aw, they hit it together at once. Glorious.

Gloriously.

Yeah.

That leads us to our twelfth clip.

The keys, where are the keys?

[Silence]

But I never figured you'd need help too.

I didn't bring nobody.

They came on their own. This is between you and me.

You knew it. Now look what you've done.

[Silence]

My cheatin' law breaking tracker.

What the hell are you?

Take a look at yourself.

Just uh broke down old.

Rab taken Piece of meanness.

You tell me old man.

What good are you?

I am the Lord.

Don't you understand? I represent the law.

I'll piss on ya.

And piss on your law.

Wasn't him.

Fat Man didn't have nothing to do with it.

It was Alvarez.

Forget it.

I ain't forgetting nothin'.

Cause this ain't over yet.

It is for me. Man, I'm sorry.

Don't worry about it

I'm really sorry.

I hate somebody else paying my dues.

With that, they load on up and start hauling ass out of that Texas town when Rubber Duck gets on the horn for CB Talk and R. Well, thirteenth clip.

Uh breaker one nine to calling all trucks.

Anyone who don't like the sound of Mexico can

Σας ευχαριστώ.

Speak up now or split.

Wait, I gotta have a

Gotta have a conference.

Bye, bye, bye.

Okay, it's okay with them.

Got it, bro.

Brother.

Amen.

[Silence]

When you boys get down to Mazatlan, just order me the full fingers of tequila and all glass. I'll be right behind you.

Well, the bald eagle's been tuned into that.

Yeah.

I'm glad we didn't pick hate.

Viva Zapata!

[Music]

Pues, vamos a ver.

[Music]

Leads to a sequence of the convoy driving its way through a small town when a bus driver tries to pick up a ton of kids right after the first one of the trucks drives past. And you know that a truck cannot slow down in time, so he lays on the horn.

And then an Italian ice truck backs out, which stops the convoy dead, leaving the duck out front and solo.

The accident stops the whole convoy and triggers a bunch of C B chatter in our fourteenth.

Hey Bobby.

Bobby, where you at?

Where you at?

Jesus.

You do kinda got a little problem here. We can handle it though, but. Certainly looks like a problem.

Man, there's no time to be having problems. We're almost there.

There.

En go look, we're going to pull behind the thread. We're going to meet you over next, ok? We're going to get the facade at the red.

What the hell's going on, Bobby?

Terima kasih.

All right, we're doing fine. It'll be okay, but I'll let the back door slap you in the house, buddy.

Vielen Dank.

I heard you.

I heard you buddy.

Your registration's in the right.

You take care of your own.

It was his club.

Well we were just planning our own

The clip ends with Duck pulling up to the Texas National Guard on the US-Mexico border, as far as I can tell.

And waiting there as Ernest Borgnine once again being the bane of rubber duck's existence and the source of our fifteenth class.

Break a 1-9, break a 1-9!

In the hardware at your front door.

If you don't get your ass out of that truck.

With your hands in the air, I'm gonna blow you sky high. Come on. Martin, do you read me? This is Lyle Water.

I guess this is as far as it goes. You better get on out. I'm staying. I said get out. Come on. You're done. You're done.

No cops, no cops.

He does.

Let's get this door out of the street.

Trained.

Doc, did you hear me?

Thank you.

You're finished.

[Music]

At the end of the clip, Duck drives his rig like a bat out of hell at the tank and all the pigs, and Ernest Borgnine lays on the 60 caliber nonstop, filling it with

Long.

Long after the other pigs cut and run.

The truck.

makes it maybe halfway across that bridge before the tanker explodes, and then the whole goddamn thing goes up in a huge explosion, sending the big rig down into the river.

They have a

It's important to note that uh duck dip dodged ducked and dived his way.

Of harm's way by hanging down below.

The rig where the engine block would take most of the bullets instead of him.

From the 60 Cal, and somehow that must have Maybe protected him from the explosion as the rig went off the side of the bridge?

Yeah.

I guess we'll find out.

But why not?

Anyway, the big rig crashes on down in the river, and then the rest of the convoy hears the explosion and begin

riding the horns to pay tribute to their fallen hero, to acknowledge that the duck is now gone. It fades from this to a very guilty look on Ernest Borgnine's pig face.

Not the actor, but the pig, the character.

Yeah.

Well I'm not gonna kick a thaw hole any deeper. I'm just gonna stop there'cause Jesus And then there is a voiceover to save my ass and the end of the film.

Our final clip.

A lonely breed, hard men, proud men, not too proud to cry, nor shed a tear.

Embodiment Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here.

Gathered here today.

Who gave his life to dramatize a cause so vital to us all.

As many great Americans before him had. As you can see, these truckers are going to start passing, paying their respects.

The song that inspired the film going for gangbusters, they run us with yet even more footage of the convoys and all the action we saw earlier in the film.

As they roll those credits.

[Silence]

Uh Still on the cast.

Yeah. Still hurts.

Still hurts. But uh what are you gonna do?

What are you gonna do? Yeah, certainly the most upbeat and fun of all of the Sam Peck and Paul films that uh I've seen.

Yeah. For sure. Uh it has a very happy ending in that at the end of the funeral we find out that the duck didn't actually die. He's been faking his death, and that's how he's going to get away with all the horrible things that he did. Uh

Yeah.

Governor still tried to use the truckers, but then the truckers just drove off as like a protest to say fuck off, I guess.

I guess. Yeah, yeah. They're like, We're out of here. Yeah.

Yeah, they made them look like a fool. Yeah. They just took off with the funeral because they were like he's I love how he's like they're selling tickets or whatever is the line that Paul uses as he drives off. Yeah. Disgust.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It was pretty well done. I really dug what they had set up. I I really did.

Fun time. Again, my own thing is just... Y get it if you're gonna be a trucker movie or a car chase movie, whatever the case is.

Mm-hmm.

I need you to be fun. If you can't be fun, what the fuck are we even doing here?

Mm-hmm.

I know, right? Like you gotta just at least have fun.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Let's have some fun.

Yeah.

Yeah, I completely do not disagree at all. I don't really have a whole like lot to add to it. I mean, the film itself is just what was laid out in front of us. Uh what I wanted.

And what I enjoyed the most about the Breaker Breaker film.

I got here multiple times over.

So many buildings getting destroyed in perfectly glorious trucker porn slow motion, the way they're just like bashing through fucking buildings and shit. It's awesome.

It's great shit, man. It's a fucking fantastic show.

There's one moment where the fucking cop that's trying to run literally tries to hide behind a building thinking he can get away from the truckers and one trucker sees him do it and just drives through the building at him.

It literally right there. Why not? Yeah.

Yeah, literally right through the building. It's glorious.

Done in slow motion and looks so fucking great.

Good shit.

Yeah.

This is filmed really, really well. Um, it's really hard to say anything all that negative about this film because anything that I would say story-wise is negated by the action.

And then anything that I would have to say about the action being over the top or ridiculous is nullified by how well it's shot.

Let's shot.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Everything just looks Too good to be mad about any sort of Right.

Right. And quite literally, I think this film turned out exactly the way that it was meant to. Like this is exactly

Exactly how they're going to be able to do that

how they wanted it to be because everything that I would have, anything to say that I didn't really like myself about the film was done intentionally that way is of what I get the feeling of.

Yeah, I think you're exactly right.

Exactly right. Yeah. So like it's just preference at that point and I've got nothing to say.'Cause I you know, maybe I wanted the story to be more serious than it was, or maybe that's what I was expecting, but you know what? Fuck me. It still was fucking fun and I need to chill out.

Yeah, well I mean we all do. I think uh like I said, uh we gotta have some fun around this goddamn place because we don't have uh a lot of time. You know what I mean?

Yeah. It's just not worth being upset over anymore now, is it?

No, no, not at all, actually.

We shouldn't be upset even a little bit from a fucking movie.

Yeah.

Yeah. Unless it was intentionally trying to upset us, which there are movies that exist that do that.

Yeah. Yeah.

I think we've added enough qualifiers to make everybody feel good about what we've had to say.

I think so, yeah. I think now people won't be mad at us and maybe they'll like us again.

It's'cause that's what our desperate middle aged pathetic lives need is for people to like us somewhere out there, even though we get zero feedback about it. I know.

I know, I know, but that's a fact.

Yeah.

Well, why don't we stop being weirdly creepy, codependent with an audience we're not even really interacting with anymore?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's uh let's wrap this up, all right. Daddy needs a beer. Let's get this going, all right? All right

All right, so we're gonna take the break here. We're gonna play the ending show housekeeping, and when we come back we'll have some music that was created to tell the plot line of Convoy without being the actual song of Convoy, which was the basis for the plot line of the film we just covered, which is Convo.

And been let's say convoy one more time. Just

To help me out. Comboy. Alright, now we're ready to go.

So again, that was a song that was created to tell you the story of Convoy, to fill a little bit of time between when we were done talking about Convoy, even though it's not the song Convoy, which is what the basis of the movie's plot line for.

What a great song though that was uh that was made for that.

I wouldn't promise that, Matt.

Matt, you're gonna regret saying that.

What a adequate song that was for that.

W what a song that existed in that it filled about a minute and thirty seconds of time between us talking about convoy.

Hey, that's what people say uh uh about my sex life. Is it adequately fills a minute thirty minute uh one minute thirty second second.

[Silence]

My sex life just comes with a single warning may cause chafing.

Yeah.

[Silence]

On who? We don't know. But somebody's gonna get chaped.

And while you're out there hoping it's not you, kick the fuck out of this weekend.

Let me bring back

Alright, looks like we're still going there and I'm already caught catching clips, but I need to move Move them back into place.

Alright, perfect. I think we're ready to go.

No.

So let's try again.

Oh wait, I gotta do one more thing.

Just to back up recording.

Recording in progress.

There we go. Backup recording is in progress.

That was the next time.

And now I can minimize this down. All right. Now you can actually hear the song. And I promise I won't play anything else while we're doing that because I don't have anything else to fuck around.

Fuck around.

Just one more thing to do and then

Mm. Okay, here's the actual song.

Light on trying to do a show. Virtue signaling. Out there's a woe. Simple Psyo stop. This podcast stop. Simple Psyups up.

This show still fucking sucks.

Alright, this is over five minutes, so I'm gonna skip through it.
