30 Winter Mornings

As preparation ends, this episode explores why letting go of last-minute checking and trusting the work already done matters now.

2 mornings to go, “You’re Ready”, settling into confidence without needing to add anything more.

What is 30 Winter Mornings?

About 30 Winter Mornings

30 Winter Mornings is a short daily podcast for people who deliver complex live events.

Each episode is a ten-minute morning reflection that offers perspective, reassurance, and calm during the most demanding phase of delivery. Drawing on decades of experience in large-scale events, the podcast focuses not on the event itself, but on the people behind it, the professionals who carry responsibility, make decisions under pressure, and keep showing up.

This is not a training programme or a motivational series.
It’s a daily check-in.
A moment of company before the day begins.

Christiaan PAGE:

Good morning. I'm Christiaan Page, and welcome to 30 Winter Mornings. This is a short daily podcast for professionals delivering complex live events. And over the past 30 mornings, we've been counting down to the opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina Winter Games. Each morning, we've taken a few minutes to slow things down, to find a bit of perspective, reassurance, and calm during the most demanding phase of the delivery.

Christiaan PAGE:

This isn't training. It's not motivational. It's just been a daily check-in, a moment of company before your day begins. Two mornings to go. At this point, there's often a quiet restlessness, a sense that there must be one more thing to check, one more thing to prepare, one more thing to fix.

Christiaan PAGE:

But at this stage, it isn't about adding. It's about trusting. All the planning has culminated and got you to this point and this point in time, and everything should be pretty much in place. Systems are running. There might still be some finishing touches, but the core systems are running.

Christiaan PAGE:

The people, most importantly, know their roles. Everybody's been working hard to deliver and train, and everyone knows what they've gotta do. So what remains now is presence, not preparation. There's a simple truth that experienced professionals come to recognize, and I've observed this for many years. Readiness doesn't arrive with a final task completed and a checklist big tick.

Christiaan PAGE:

It really arrives quietly when there's nothing left to add. If you're still looking for reassurance right now, that doesn't mean you're unprepared. It just means you care. And we've raised the point of care repeatedly throughout this series. We all care, which is why we do the jobs we do.

Christiaan PAGE:

But caring doesn't require constant checking. So before the day begins asking more of you in these last final days and hours, let's do a brief check-in. So first of all, what is already done? Not partially, but truly complete. When you think of all the planning and all the milestones and checklists that you've had to deliver to, that plan is should pretty much be done.

Christiaan PAGE:

All the decisions you've had to make to get to this point, all the decisions you've made, they're already done. A piece of work that you no longer need to keep revisiting. So I really want you to acknowledge it. What is already done? And you might find that that list is pretty big.

Christiaan PAGE:

Secondly, where might you be searching for certainty that no longer serves you? So this is where you can, again, be using your energy in this last day, you know, doing one more review, asking for one more opinion or reviewing an opinion. One more light adjustment. Oh, if we just tweak this or take a jump. Notice the impulse and let it pass.

Christiaan PAGE:

Thirdly, how can you shift from preparing to being present today? And this is really about being here today. Be here now. And that means listening. Think of our listening episode.

Christiaan PAGE:

I've got two ears. We'll use them today to be present. Observing, clearly as a professional in this industry, observing is what we one of the most important skills we have. We observe all the things that have to be done and should be done. So, you know, shifting from preparing, what is it that you're observing today?

Christiaan PAGE:

Supporting, thinking about the people. So being present, being present with your team, being present with yourself. Nothing more is required. And this light and deliver delivery, confidence is quiet. You don't need to prove anything.

Christiaan PAGE:

You don't need to add anything. You are ready. Wherever you are, stay safe, stay healthy, and bye for now. 30 Window Mornings is the Legacy Groupe Project produced and presented by myself, Christiaan Page. This podcast is recorded on the shores of Lac Leman , also known as Lake Geneva in Lausanne in the Canton Of Vaud, Switzerland.
