Deutsche Bahn has completed the sale of Arriva Group to I Squared Capital, in a significant moment in Arriva’s history.
The acquisition by I Squared, a global infrastructure manager, encompasses all of Arriva’s businesses across 11 countries, and promises significant long-term capital investment to support growth and decarbonisation.
Arriva employs over 34,000 people, delivering over 1.6 billion passenger journeys on trains, trams, coaches and buses. Arriva’s activities are divided into four business units – UK Trains, UK Bus, The Netherlands and Mainland Europe.
I Squared develops infrastructure projects using global insights and deep local intelligence to invest in sustainability and essential passenger services.

Alstom has successfully delivered the first Metropolis metro train for the Pune Metro Line 3.
The train is the first of 22 Metropolis trainsets of three cars each, with a capacity of up to 1000 passengers per train. The new fleet has been fully manufactured in India and is capable of speeds of up to 95 km/h.
Alstom India was awarded a joint contract in 2021 along with TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited and Siemens Project Ventures to provide rolling stock, electrical and mechanical system works for the project.
The Pune Metro Line 3 is a 23-kilometre elevated rail project serving 23 stations across the city.

Work will begin later this week on emergency repairs to the Kingsferry Bridge in Kent, after recent scans found that some of the steel ropes on the bridge need to be replaced urgently.
The Kingsferry Bridge is a vital connection for rail and road users, connecting the Isle of Sheppey with mainland Kent.
The vertical-lift bridge will be closed this coming weekend as work begins to replace 40 steel ropes that lift the bridge to allow maritime traffic to pass underneath.
