Safety FM with Jay Allen

After seven years, 777 episodes, and more than 72.3 million listens, Jay Allen sits down behind the microphone one last time for Safety FM with Jay Allen. This is not a quick sign-off, not a fade-to-black, and not an ending without gratitude. This is a moment of reflection—an honest, heartfelt thank-you to every listener who made this show part of their routine, their workday, their commute, or their learning journey.

In this final episode, Jay opens up about why the time has come to close this chapter, how the show has evolved, and why the next phase of Safety FM lives within The Rated R Safety Show and Jay Allen in the Morning. He speaks directly from the heart about the interviews, the guests, the community, and the people who became part of the story along the way.

This episode is a celebration—a tribute to the conversations that changed perspectives, challenged systems, and connected people from all corners of the world. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and acknowledge a journey that started as an idea and grew into something far bigger than anyone could have predicted.

And while this is goodbye for now, it is far from the end. Jay’s voice, curiosity, and commentary continue elsewhere on the network. This is simply the closing of one door and the gentle opening of another.

The episode concludes with “ Crossroads at the End of All Things,” an original track created together just days ago—an emotional, fitting final note for a show that has always been about connection, humanity, and the stories behind the work.

Thank you for the listens.

Thank you for the years.

Thank you for being part of this chapter.

Here’s to what comes next.

[SPEAKER_00]: Hello and welcome to another episode of Safety FM Mini.

[SPEAKER_00]: I am your host, Jay Allen, but I'm also your host on Safety FM with Jay Allen.

[SPEAKER_00]: And let's sit back today and have a conversation.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, seriously, let's have that conversation that we need to have because it's probably time to do this.

[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start going through the whole process together.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here we are, episode 777, when I started safety FM with Jay Allen or whatever variation of the name it was 7 years ago, I didn't think for a single moment or imagine that I'd be sitting here behind this microphone talking about closing the chapter on this show.

[SPEAKER_00]: And before we do anything else, before we talk about history, before we change things, before we talk about what's next, I want to take a moment to simply say this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for listening.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for showing up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for caring enough about this space, this industry, this community, and this work.

[SPEAKER_00]: Over the last seven years, safety FM would Jay Allen or whatever version I was calling it at the time, has been listened to by 72.3 million listeners or at least 72.3 million times.

[SPEAKER_00]: 72.3 million lessons.

[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly had to look at that a couple of times and I was like hold on.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even think that this was real, but it is.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's because of you.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've invited me into your morning commutes, and your late night drives, your training rooms, your offices, your job sites, and sometimes even the weird corners of the world where barely Wi-Fi gets to you, but we hung out together, and then you had to download me probably at some way of shape or form.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the 777 episodes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the seven years.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for being part of this entire journey.

[SPEAKER_00]: We got here.

[SPEAKER_00]: So now let's talk about the elephant in the room, or maybe the elephant on the podcast feed, maybe we're saying this, over the years something interesting happened, something I didn't even really notice at first, but this show, safety FM with J. Allen, or whatever I was calling together this time, started to blend with the rated R safety show, and then it blended a little bit more, and then a little bit more.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then, before long, I looked around and realized a lot of what I was doing was already doing over again.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was repurposing some of the stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: I found myself repurposing segments, interviews, commentary, sometimes without even thinking about it, not because of laziness and not because of burnout, not because of so much conversation in our world, or at least in the safety world.

[SPEAKER_00]: The human performance world, or the operational reality world, had shifted.

[SPEAKER_00]: and the way that I delivered the content, the way that I had the conversations, and the way I connected with people, well, the rated R safety show became the place where that energy naturally lived.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's when J. Allen, the morning's came about, which has taken on its whole different thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: The show isn't going anywhere.

[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, those shows are staying and they're growing and they're evolving.

[SPEAKER_00]: But this show, safety FM with J. Allen, because that's what we're calling it now.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's reached the end of its arc, and that's okay, because ending don't always mean loss, sometimes they simply mean completion, they mean transition, they mean making room for what's next.

[SPEAKER_00]: So why does the ending matter?

[SPEAKER_00]: This decision wasn't made in the middle of the night and it wasn't impulsive and it wasn't reactive.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was thoughtful, it was intentional, and honestly, it was necessary.

[SPEAKER_00]: With all the changes we've seen in the industry, with the evolution of the network and with the growth of other shows.

[SPEAKER_00]: With the way that we've delivered audio now, the way that we engage with audience, safety FM with Jay Allen, was gracefully reached its conclusion of its life cycle.

[SPEAKER_00]: It served as purpose, it made its impact in now, it can take a well-deserved bow.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, the guests who built

[SPEAKER_00]: this show with us over 777 episodes.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've had the privilege if not the honor of speaking with some of the most insightful, disruptive, challenging hilarious brilliant and downroad, fascinating people in safety operations, risk, resilience, and work as done.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to list every single guess because we would be here the entire recording session just trying to figure out everybody who's been on here.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're hearing this, and you were ever on the show, thank you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for sharing your voice.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for giving us your time.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for trusting me with your stories.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for helping shape a catalog of conversations that quite frankly, I think people will still be able to listen to for years from now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every single person who sat across from me, virtually or in person, left their fingerprints on this feed, and I'm grateful for each of you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what does this change not mean?

[SPEAKER_00]: Now let me be extremely clear because this is where it's going to get confusing about something.

[SPEAKER_00]: because I know how this works.

[SPEAKER_00]: Rumors love to fill the silence.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is not mean that I'm done.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is not mean that safety FM is going anywhere.

[SPEAKER_00]: This does not mean that the content stops, not even close.

[SPEAKER_00]: What this means is that the energy effort, creativity, interviews, discussion, breaking news, commentary, and all the fun stuff that you've grown accustomed to will now be centralized and amplified on the rated R safety show and the J. Allen in the morning show.

[SPEAKER_00]: bo-shows are staying, bo-shows are active, bo-shows are growing.

[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, you will hear interviews there.

[SPEAKER_00]: You will hear long-form conversations there.

[SPEAKER_00]: You will hear everything you've come to expect.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just now in places where the format really fits what I'm doing today.

[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't the end of me talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is the end of a specific chapter.

[SPEAKER_00]: Before we close this out and roll back into the final track, I want to say this one last time.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for every episode you download it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for every message you sent.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for every conference hallway conversation that you started with.

[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Jay, I heard on your show.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for trusting me with your time because time is one thing that you never get back and you choose to spend it here.

[SPEAKER_00]: This podcast has been more than a project, more than a show.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a community, a connection, a conversation that never really ends.

[SPEAKER_00]: It just changes venues.

[SPEAKER_00]: So from me to you, episode 777, or 777, however you'd like to

[SPEAKER_00]: but it's absolutely not the end of our story.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stick with me on the rated R safety show, stick with me on Jay Island in the morning.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stick with me as we create whatever comes next.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, in the closing moments, I wanna introduce you a final song.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now because we're always trying to experiment something new, we want to create, we want to play, we want to build, and I want to close the final episode with a track that means a lot to me personally, it's a song that we wrote together last week using AI because that's really what we did.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the song is called Crossroads at the end of all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it fits perfectly, because life, safety, work, change, transition, they're all crossroads.

[SPEAKER_00]: Different clues, different past, different answers, but all connected.

[SPEAKER_00]: So for a last time on this feed, thank you for listening.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the seven years.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for episode 707, and thank you for being part of Safety FM.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here is crossroads at the end of all things.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've been your safety manager in host J. Allen, goodbye for now.

[SPEAKER_03]: I walked the line with a daylight dance Black sun singing across when sky Every promise carved and sand Every dream that slipped my hand I felt the truth beneath my skin

[SPEAKER_03]: Everything that starts must end again No mercy left for the wandering man Just the echo of a life I used to understand In the road gets cold the shadows bend But the tear goes on

[SPEAKER_03]: In the crossroads of the underworld We're the night still cries and all those things Every beginning is a parole flake Burn so bright and face again In the crossroads

[SPEAKER_03]: And nothing born, ever stays the same.

[SPEAKER_03]: I've seen this silver and a dime, heard the lullaby of soldiers, held the truth like a rattlesnake.

[SPEAKER_03]: Every heartbeat just as small as the quake.

[SPEAKER_03]: The strangers' voice was soft and low Ever seen you plant my scroll thin gone About my head to the shifting sand Walked a desert within deep hand In the stars fall down like forgotten sins With the tail begins

[SPEAKER_03]: The tale begins to end, and the crossroads of the end of all things.

[SPEAKER_03]: Whether not still cries and the long old seeds, if we begin to end as a borrower flame, burn so bright and face again, as the crossroads,

[SPEAKER_03]: And nothing born, ever stays the same.

[SPEAKER_03]: All the river flows where the lost go blind.

[SPEAKER_03]: And time comes truth in the back of the mind.

[SPEAKER_03]: If love is a door, then death is a key.

[SPEAKER_03]: And both of them keep on locking me.

[SPEAKER_03]: So take my hand if you understand The hourglass don't feel the same Everything that starts with some dabin Every road we walk has an end, my friend At the cross road So I'll wait again
