Password sharing for streaming accounts might be coming to an end. Netflix is testing a program in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru to go after shared passwords, so it’s probably headed our way. Once they find an account sharing a password, Netflix will offer the existing subscriber a sub account for about $3 a month. The company calls it ‘adding a new member’.
This could spread. HBO Max and Disney Plus already keep tabs on multiple sign-ins and send out friendly emails. You can be sure those two are closely watching the reaction.
