Full show transcript:
I'm trying to find okay. We had we had some friends that used to live here in our town and they moved away, and it's very sad. Right. Because now we don't get to see them or hang out with them.
But we are gonna see them in a few days.
That's true. They are gonna come into town. But we had what we called a music club. That's right. And it was basically we would get together and eat dinner and have snacks, and then we would play um every month there was a different theme, and we would play music um based on that theme. And so we would all pick like three or four songs based on the theme. So obviously the first music club was like our favorite song.
Sure. And then it was songs that make me cry. And then it was songs that we hate. Yeah, that was a fun one. That was a theme. So they were just gross. Some of my most hated songs are Sowing the Seeds of Love by Tears for Fears.
That's a great song. I also do nothing the seeds of love. You I love it. I also do seeds. Why would you even listen to it? That song. What about The Year of the Cat? Yep, that's on my list. Yeah. You love the year of the cat.
I also do not like Kiss from a Rose. Oh from Seal. Yeah. Uh, I don't like No Rain by Blind Melon. That's a good song too. What are some of yours? I love every song.
That's a lie. You do not like give it away by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. That song's awful. What else? I can't remember yours. That's such a lie. Why aren't you sharing?
Because I don't want people to know this information about me. That's why. Because now I got a bunch of people running around calling me pistol, which no one calls me that.
They're gonna.
That's why. So I'm not gonna list off things I don't like. Because I'm not a fool.
Okay, there was a list put together of the most hated songs. Oh, okay. Here are the top six. I'm gonna start from number six. Okay. We built this city. Oh, alright. I like that song.
You you know that song's pretty great. It is pretty great. Pretty epic entry intro music if you're uh hosting a game show. It's a good song. Yeah, it is. Shiny happy people. Oh, really? People don't like that. That's REM.
I know. We didn't start the fire. Okay. Susu Studio.
Which version of We Didn't Start the Fire? The Billy Joel.
Okay. And I like that one. Do you? I sure do. How do you feel about the fallout boy one? Uh not so good.
Okay. All right. And then Susu Studio. Yep. Yeah, that's Suzubad.
Susu. I like that one. Okay. Number two is Coco Mo by the Beach Boys.
I do not like Coco Mo. Okay. I like the Beach Boys. I don't like it.
Would you go as far as to say you hate it or you just don't like it?
It's the it's not good. Okay.
And the number one most hated song, I don't want to miss a thing by Aerosmith. You know another song I hate? What?
Fournon Blondes, What's Going On.
Yeah, that's true. That is in your category.
I do not like that song. That's my number one least like song. And then that's let's start today's show. Hey. Hi. Hello, good morning. You have a headache. I do have a headache. So yesterday I had body aches, and I was gonna take an ibuprofen early in the morning, and I said, nah, just tough through. And I'm and I didn't really need it. I made it through.
A little achy kind of day. Yeah. You were like, I heard pill bottle going this morning. So you said I'm taking the pills. Yep. Yeah.
I'm sorry about your headache. It's a little poundy. Yeah. Let's blame the dog. I do blame the dog. I blame the dog for everything. You blame the dog today because there was some thunder last night.
And that is scary. Very. Very scary. Cannot sleep alone when there's thunder. Right. It's so scary. Our big tough strong dog that we got to kind of protect the house is like, oh, we thunder. It's so scary. And so I hear she does this. It's like a half a bark. And so she'll go, her.
Her was she harping or was she just whining?
No, she was harping to begin with. And I went, and I didn't hear the thunder at first. Yeah. So I thought she was just maybe needed to go outside. And I was like, forget about it. I don't even care. Yeah. I'll deal with whatever mess you make in the morning because I'm not taking you outside.
And this was three o'clock in the morning decisions. Got it. Yeah.
And I went, I don't care. Go back to bed. So I'm yelling at her. Go back to bed. And I'm like, uh. And then the whining.
Yeah, it's the saddest sound.
And then there was a big thunder. Ah. And that's when I was I knew that it wasn't just I need to go outside. It was a I'm so scared.
I'm out here in the dark alone in the thunder.
And then she started scratching the doors. And I was hoping, because sometimes the kids will hear her and they'll take her in. But I was three in the morning. They did not hear her or care. So I went, oh. I opened the door and I said, go back to bed. And she usually listens when you tell her that. But she just looked at me like it's so scary.
There's thunder in my bed.
Get out. And we don't let her sleep on our bed, but in those extreme instances, that's the only way to keep her quiet. So that's why you have a headache. Yeah. Because of the thunderbolt. That's what I'm blaming.
I think you I think it's a fair reason.
And she laid down. I was telling you that she laid down, and then I was like, great. And then about two minutes later, she was like, hey, do you want to play?
Yeah. And she got up and she was trying to like lick our faces, and I'm trying to block you to keep you some space. And she's like, no, let's keep playing. This is a fun game.
So you took some uh pain pills this morning.
Just reiterate. Oh. That you love the dog. Is that what you were gonna say? I didn't want the dog. I overheard a couple over the weekend, and they're newly married, and they were like, We really want to get a dog, and I said, Don't Why? Don't get a dog. It'll change your life. Depends on the dog, I suppose. Yeah, it changes your life, that's for sure. Keeps you awake all night.
At three in the morning because of thunder.
eight sleep, get a dog. If you like cleaning up messes, get a dog. If you're worried that your favorite shoes are gonna get eaten, get a dog. Good morning, Chantel.
All right, your good news today is about nine-year-old Kaylin Goodman. She was born with a rare muscle weakening condition and needs a wheelchair to get around. And with Halloween coming up, she wanted to be a princess angel for her school's annual trunk retreat event, but she was worried about how her wheelchair would fit the outfit. Uh, and that is when 25 eighth grade science and engineering students stepped in. Excellent.
Yeah. Kids helping kids. This is so cool. Nothing better. So they invited Kaylin into the classroom to create designs, sew, use laser cutters, 3D printers, and ultimately transformed her wheelchair into a stunning wing-adorned angel throne fit for a princess. Love it.
Yep. She says the magical outfit made her feel extra special. She said they made my wheelchair into a beautiful angel throne, and I got to be a princess angel just like I wanted. My favorite part was seeing how they took my ideas and made them real.
And the wings. I felt like a real princess. Isn't that cool? Yeah. That's and they did a really great job. It's really super cool. So well done. Uh this was in Florida. Very, very cool. Good job, kids. Yep. Kaelin's angels. Innovation on wheels is what they said. Very cool. Good.
I hope they do this. I hope it continues. Innovations on wheels. LLC.
Yeah. Keep it going. No kidding. Uh, very, very cool. And that is good news.
I need your help. What's up? There's a button on my car that's broke.
What button on your car is? car is broken?
It's a very, very, very important button.
Okay. That that sounds like it's not that important. What button is broken?
It is the most important button. Hold on.
What button is broken and how did it break?
I don't know how it broke. I just one day went to push it and I went, oh no. I think my button is broke. It's the button that changes the music on my playlist. What are you talking about? Oh.
When I drive away, I put on my Bluetooth and I listen to my curated playlist. Right. And there's a button on my car that I can control.
I don't actually know. It's a it's an it does stuff for the car too. But it doubles as a Bluetooth song changer. And it's broken. It's not necessarily broken, but like because it still works, but you can't really push it down. So I feel like there's something wedged in there.
Where is this button located? It's on my steering wheel. Okay. And it's on the left hand side. And it's broken.
Again, it's not broken because it'll still work and it'll still change the song, but it's not. Have you ever had a button and you can tell it's a button? What are you talking about? Because it pushes down Like What? Like push your keyboard. Like push a button on your keyboard.
I can't do that. Clearly.
because I'm using everything over You can push it down and it comes back up. Yeah. My button is just push down. And then it stays down. And it stays down.
And so when I go to push it, I can't push it because it's already down, so I can just like push it. This makes no sense. It does. It's making all of the sense.
Did you spill something in it?
It's quite possible. But I don't know how because it's in my steering wheel. How would I?
Maybe you push the button too many times.
That's what I'm worried about. Is it something that can be fixed?
Of course it is. Is it something I know how to fix? Not really. You know how to fix everything. No.
Yes, you do. You're so savvy.
When in the history of time, and I'm gonna bring up another thing, but when in the history of time have I been uh known to fix steering wheel buttons? Never exactly.
I know that you like problems, and I know you like steering. You like to solve problems. You like to fix things. No.
Yeah. It doesn't mean I like to do it. You're it's my preferred method of handling situations.
But you're so good at it.
Oh, is that right? Don't talk me up. I had to uh do some strange things. Uh and they weren't that strange, I guess, but I had to do some things uh Monday after work.
Uh-huh. I had to leave and go work on some projects. And one of those things that I needed to do was to uh chisel a door so that I could put a new deadbolt in that has uh a little plate and the one that I was removing didn't, and so I had to mark out the area I needed to chisel, and I had to do that uh at a different place.
I had to uh remove the crash plate and adjust it so that the door would line up. And at one point I was asked, how do you know how to do all this man stuff? And I said, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
Cause you you're good at it.
Like, I mean, I I'm sure along the way I watched my dad do it, or I I mean I did construction y things for a little while. So some maybe I did it then. I don't know the answer.
I've said that to you before when you've been doing stuff. I'm like, how do you know how to do that?
Well, they took us into a secret classroom in fifth grade, and they taught us all these things.
They taught you how to do all that cool stuff, and then they taught you how to make sound effects. That's right. They're like, okay, now boys.
That was way before fifth grade. It's not that class happened.
And then they taught you how to do that dead finger thing. Yeah, the finger snap. That thing? Yep. Yeah. They didn't teach me how to do any of that.
Well, you should have gotten the other line. I don't know what to tell you. Well, I'm sorry about your broken button.
I know. Could you just look at it?
Let me ask another question. Okay. Sometimes there's the same button on the radio. Yeah. And your phone is within reach on its little holder to hit the skip button.
It's safer and easier on my steering wheel. And I've gotten so used to just like
driving and just being like, destroyed the button. I don't like this song. Click. Yeah, that's the real thing is that you have skipped so many songs that now you have this issue. Could you just look in my curated playlist that I like so much? I skip every single thing.
Some of the songs just play repeatedly. And I go, I don't want to hear this one today. Hey, could you just look at it? I'll see.
All right. If you uh look at some social media on your computer. If you've got Facebook up there, you've got Instagram or I think it's pretty much that. Those are the two. No, that's not true. Uh TikTok is also this way for me. Uh Twitter's that way. Blue skies that way, threads is that way. Yeah. What?
What are we doing? Do you have any of those open on your computer? On my computer? Yeah. No.
On my phone, yes. Okay. Okay. Let me look at Facebook right here.
Okay, Facebook. Is your page in dark mode? Or okay, good. Good job. Is the same true for Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and the rest? Well, I don't use Twitter. Yeah, okay. Fine. Uh, because dumb. Okay.
I don't use anything other than Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. Okay.
Those are they all in dark mode on your computer and on your phone. Um why? I can't stand looking at the white screen.
Mine are all on dark mode because you told me to years and years and years ago.
I can't stand looking at them on not dark mode.
I think you told me years ago that it's better on my eyes. Sure. And it's better on my battery.
Well, that's originally why like my entire phone is in dark mode. Like I see people that they'll turn on their phone uh it like a movie theater or something, and it's so bright. Yeah. And I'm like, dude, it's crazy. So uh the other day, yesterday, I had to re-log into some stuff and it came up default, not dark mode. And I was my eyeballs were fried out.
I couldn't deal. And and then trying to find the setting to put it in dark mode, should be way easier than it is. But they bury it for some reason.
I don't know. And then you have to find it. Find it. Don't switch back. You'll hate it. Well, I will, but I just don't even know how I got there in the first place. Yeah.
Well, I just I have to dark mode all the things. So then they rolled out dark mode for my Gmail. I've got that in dark mode. I wish that I could put my uh my Google Sheets into dark mode because I use those. My Google Keep is in dark mode, my drive, my calendar, those are all in dark mode. I have a couple of websites that have not yet rolled out a dark mode.
They need to get with the times. Uh the back end of Facebook, if you're on the business level, like we are with our station pages and stuff, that's kind of a blue gradient color. Like they're trying to be cute with it rather than dark mode.
Yeah, they're trying to try to be cute. I don't know. I just can't. Why is everything not in dark mode? My YouTube's in dark mode. I make dark mode all the things is basically my argument. I look over here at the uh automation system that runs the station when we aren't talking, and it look at it. It's so bright.
So are you saying dark mode is better for your eyes?
I don't know, but I prefer it. It feels better on my eyes.
Let's look and see. Let me do a quick search. Okay. Is dark mode? Is better.
We're gonna real-time Google. We always do. That's right.
Um, it is not universally better for your eyes. Okay. It helps reduce glare and sleep disrupting blue light in low light settings, but traditional light mode is often easier to read during the day and better for people with conditions like astigmatism. I hate it.
And I have astigmatism, even though I've had LASIK. Does that remove astigmatism? Let's Google. Does LASIK remove astigmatism? I don't know if it does, but it certainly uh, you know, fixes your vision.
Lazy can fix regular astigmatism. Regular. Yes. Yes.
Look at how you just Google things for me. Thank you.
Do you ever Google something? And then you feel you're just Googling, you're just learning at the same time other people are, but you feel so smart
because I knew the answer because I Googled it first. I knew it.
Even when I read that, I was like, yes, LAC can fix a stick to something like you didn't know that.
It's probably a question I should have asked when I got it done. Is that gonna fix my a stick too?
I think they probably told us, but stuff stitched in my brain.
And I got my LASIK six years ago. So yeah.
And then you can't you can't hold everything. I can't retain everything. And so I gotta make room for all the other stuff that has to stick in there. Yeah. And so then I go, I don't need that astigmatism thing anymore. Poosh. You push it out.
Yeah, you have to push it out. I just wish I could keep all my memories. My memories get fuzzy. Oh. Dust them off. You know? Get rid of the fuzz.
Can you dust off memory? No, we're not Googling it. When is Black Friday? Uh the day after Thanksgiving. Very good.
November 27th, I believe, this year. Okay.
When should businesses begin advertising about Black Friday?
Um, I would probably say about a week or two before Black Friday.
So not last week? No. Oh, well, we got in the mail a Black Friday Starts Now ad.
Does that mean that you can get the Black Friday deals now? Yeah.
We got that last week in the mail. We got a little uh paper thing that says uh Black Friday starts now. They've got to buy one get one half off deal on a tarp. They've got some boots at 15% off. They've got who is the what is this place? They've got a buy one, get one half off on jeans. Let me guess. Jeans, boots, tarps.
I'm by my jeans where I get my tarps. That's right.
Where can you buy your jeans and boots where you also get your tarps? I think Cal Ranch. You are correct. It was a Cal Ranch Black Friday starts now print advertisement we got in the mail. And I took a picture of it because I was very taken aback that in early October I'm getting I guess mid-October. I'm getting a Black Friday starts now. That's well over a month ahead.
Here's the thing. If you want to do a sale, do a sale, but don't put Black Friday.
What I felt like.
Do a Black Friday sale on Black Friday. Right. If you want to do a sale, be like blow blowout.
Yeah, like fall harvest sale.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Big Black Friday starts now. Mid-October. Crazy good deals. I mean, I guess. You got to take advantage. I just feel like it's real early to be throwing around the Black Friday words. I agree with you. I agree with you. You can also save on dog food.
No better place. I mean, look, pants, boots, tarps, dog food, ammunition and guns, and safes to keep them locked up. They've got it all. They also have home decor.
Yes, they do. And in the spring, baby chickens. And bunnies. And sometimes, yeah. I think the bunnies go quick. But for sure, baby chicks. And ducks. And ducks. And you love to go look at them.
I do. And every so often I go, Oh, should we get some chickens? We'll always have eggs. And then I leave the store, and then my better sense comes in, and I go, What were you thinking? Right. You don't want to take care of a chicken. No. And then everyone goes, they're so easy. And I go, I don't care. I can't be responsible for keeping another thing alive. The case.
Listen to this. The whole time I was doing those projects on Monday afternoon, there's a rooster going off. The whole time.
I thought you couldn't have a rooster.
I used to be limits. That's what I thought. And then I heard a goose and I went, there's somebody's got a whole farm around here.
We heard a goose on our walk the other day. Yeah. In our neighborhood. Our dog stopped and was like, what the Yeah, what was that? Yeah. Anyway. Just so you know.
Black Friday sales. On now. Starts now. Thank you. Cal Ranch for letting me know. We don't do a Black Friday. We don't necessarily care about it. But if there was one thing that was like a killer deal.
Yeah, it'd have to be pretty good for me to be like, I gotta go wait in line.
There's one place that you would go to. Well, there's three places you would go to. Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Cabela's Bass Pro Shop, whatever it's called now. I don't care. Okay.
Sportsman's Jimmy's fly shop. Yeah. Is it? Those are the places you're gonna go. On Black Friday. What kind of deals do they have? I have no idea. But you're gonna be checking them out. I know that much.
Also, Al Sporting Goods would be there.
I forgot about that one. So sorry. That's all right. That should have been your number one.
I mean, there's plenty of places where I will go look at the show. This is your order. This is my order.
Al's Jimmy's Cabella's sportsman.
I'd flip the Bass Pro Shop and Sportsman's, but yes. Okay. Yeah. But that's fine. That's just where I have available right here.
You know, then I can go through Hobby Lobby and Hobby Lobby is a large store. Right. And it's right next to Bass Pro Shop. Yeah. I can go through that entire store and look at everything I want to look at. Yeah. By the time I'm done at that store, you're still only on aisle two of Bass Pro Shops. And I go There's so much to look at. There isn't.
Okay, back in when did this happen? Uh when evil Knieval attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon. That was 1974. You remember this? I mean, obviously you weren't.
I wasn't born, but I remember people talking about it.
Especially because we I grew up in Burley and he was the twin. We went to Twin Falls all the time. Right. So it was like my dad would always say, I was a worryable canival jumped. That's where Evel Knievel jumped.
So it was September 8th, 1974, using a steam-powered rocket called the X2 Sky Cycle. Uh he failed. His parachute deployed early. The uh the the X2 sky cycle crashed into the canyon. Did it crash into the wall of the canyon or did it? Couldn't tell you. Did it just fall down and it's parachute down to the bottom?
Couldn't tell you. He was on it when it went over the jump. He intended to uh jump the canyon and then land on the ramp on the other side. The can the the ramps are still around to the best of my knowledge. Is that correct? I couldn't tell you. Okay.
You're asking me at the Well, just you grew up there, so I figured you might. Uh it says right here the launch site uh is still visible on the south rim of the canyon, just east of the Perine Bridge. That's what it says.
Just east. Hold on.
Say it again. Just east of the of the bridge. So if you're on the bridge and you're looking toward Burley from Twin Falls, that's east. Yes. Then you can see the ramps. Okay. Yes. I'd buy that. Okay, that's what the internet says, so I would too. That sounds that sounds right.
Okay. So the other day, Elon Musk of Tesla and SpaceX uh had the uh roadster do the old flipper. flipperoo. He says he wants to take that roadster and jump the Snake River Canyon. Elon Knievel.
In the in the exact same spot that Elon Knievel Evil Canival did.
Yeah. He he has suggested that the next generation Tesla Roadster could attempt a stunt to fly across the Snake River Canyon, paying homage to Evil Kanevel's historic 1974 rocket powered jump. Is he gonna be in it? No way.
There's no way he's going to be in the car. The second question. The car is self-driving, so no.
Second question. They should do this with a bus. Like speed? Yes. That's a way bigger gap than that bridge that was out. We just saw that scene. What a ridiculous thing. Physics, forget about it.
That bus, it didn't even have a ramp.
No, it went off the flat and it landed like it was gonna it was ridiculous. I love that movie. If you haven't seen speed in a long time, go watch speed.
With Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, it's so good. I love that movie.
So the this is this is kind of the the interesting thing. In order for this to happen, uh in order to uh jump across the Snake River Canyon and land on its wheels, the car would need to travel at half the speed of sound. Okay. That's really fast. In order to it has to go to Mach point five or faster to be able to get enough speed to clear the canyon. Is there enough that's why it was a rocket cycle?
Is there enough runway for that? Sure. Is there? I mean, what's out there? The mall. Well, on the other side.
Yeah. There's tons of runway.
Yeah, there's a lot of things. If you if you approach from the north. Yeah, there is.
I mean, a lot of infrastructure and stuff has been built on the uh south.
Is he gonna have enough room on the other side? I don't it's I don't know either. These are logistics that I listen. If you're gonna do this, you worry about the logistics, not me. Yeah, that's true.
That that's that's a good point. I think it's interesting. Would you go watch? No. You just watch the clips. Because I don't like Elon Musk. Okay, that's fine. Less about him, more about the evil can evil thing and the fact that it's happening in our neck of the woods. Yeah, I mean, sure. Cool. Okay.
I don't understand the point. To do something with that car.
I mean, he's done crazy stuff. He's in a car to space, like just cuz. It's this is one of this is another just cuz. I know. And it's I'm annoyed by it. Yeah.
I'm just also annoyed by Elon Musk. So that's fine. I don't care about it. That's fair. Absolutely fair. It's a lot of heavy eye roll. Oh, whatever. Uh the second you mentioned.
Jump your cute little car over the canyon.
Yeah. Okay, you have so much money. Why don't we do something cool with it?
How about we like jump a car over a canyon?
Get over yourself. Elon, do something better. Do better. I like your take.
Congratulations. You made a thing. You uh you just posted a video on socials. Uh you sort of finished your countdown to Halloween.
Yeah, okay. If you've been following along to our program. Program. I like our I like saying our radio program. Um we talk we've talked about this before, but a couple of years ago I bought this cute. I think it was two years ago.
I think it was two years ago. I bought this Halloween countdown where you take strips of fabric and you and you make a countdown, like a paper chain. Yeah. And then you they're Velcro together, and you tear them off. And every year I go, oh, I gotta get that done. And then I hadn't even started it. And then our daughter was giving me a lot of grief for it because she was like, You're never gonna get that done. You're never gonna get that done.
That Halloween countdown would be so cute, but you're never gonna get it done. And I said, I'm gonna start it. Just watch. So I started it.
Yeah. I started it mid-September. Started cutting out the fabric. And then life gets in the way, and then I had to take a break, and I finally, as of last night, how many days we got? There was a 11 days till Halloween. I got 11 chains. It's about a foot long. And I listen.
When when you were showing me like the pieces and stuff, I was like, oh yeah, cool. And now there would be 31 of them. There is a lot of things. Because you would start right if they were all sewed. There would be 31. And that chain would be three feet. Yeah. This long. Yep. That's not very long. That's not your fault. I just am pointing out that they're pretty small.
Well, that's when you make a paper chain that's not very long either.
I've seen paper chains that run around a whole room.
Well, guess what? It just all depends on how many days you're counting down to. That's what I'm saying. Maybe that thing should start in January. No. No. No.
I feel like that's when you hang vertically. Here's the thing.
Well, yeah, because you have to take the you have to take the links off. Yeah.
So you're gonna have to hang that thing vertically.
I ran out of um velcro. Well, I ran out of fusible webbing. You have to put fusible webbing in the middle. So I ran out of that. And so I had to go get more of that. And so there's there's still some fabric that I still have to sew together. I ran out of Velcro. So I gotta go get more Velcro. I my needle broke.
Yeah. So I had to change my needle. I hate when that kind of stuff happens. When my bobbin runs out, my needle breaks, my tensions off, all that kind of nonsense. Just let me sit down and sew. If I have to unpick it, which I did, I accidentally calm down. Sewed my piece of Velcro. Which I did wrong. So I had to get my seam ripper out.
Did you have two soft ends or something?
No, I just put it on the wrong side.
Oh, So when you folded it up, it did the heart shape instead of a circle. Yeah. I was so mad. Bummer.
I have a thing in my craft room that says, if I've got a seam ripper. Yeah, leave. Leave. Yeah. Yeah. If you walk in and see me with a seam ripper, it walk out quite a bit.
Well, I'm excited that you got like a foot-long chain. Yeah. And here's the thing. Okay.
Our daughter's been giving me so much grief about it. Yeah. Get it done. Get it done. I've had enough where I was like, we've got 11. This is the countdown.
This is where we are. I walk into a room. I'm like, she's gonna be stoked. I go in there, I go, Emery, look. And she goes, cute. And then goes back to her. What Whoa do you want to take the knife out of my back? Yeah. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. She couldn't have cared less. Well.
I'm sorry about it. I think it's cool. I'm I'm proud of you for getting 11 of those things done. Thank you. When you had zero when you started the project. I know. Yeah.
Thank you. And now you have 11. And today is now you can tear one off. We're at 10 days. I know. What a thing. So now I go. Now it's like nine and a half inches long. Yay.
Do I do I finish the other ones? Or do I just put them away and save them for next year? You know the answer.
Don't yell at me. be even stress about it. I haven't once. So I've been working on trying to lose a little bit of weight. Yeah, right. And I saw Emory and I were shopping the other day, and I saw this pair of pants that I thought were cute, and I was like, oh, they're not, they don't have my size. And she goes, Well, get the size smaller. And then you could just like hang it up, and that could be like a reminder of the goal you're trying to get to. And I go, Oh girl, I got a lot of that already. Boxes of it in the shed. Well, the shed they were there in the garage now. Yeah, I know.
Because that's what happens. I clean out the garage and then the shed's a disaster. And then I clean out the shed and then the garage is a disaster. All I do is move piles back and forth between the garage and the shed. Yeah, same. I'm a little tired of it. I have the garage nice for about two days. Yeah. And then I was like, oh, you want the Halloween decorations down. Now I got seven bins laying in the in the You can put them back up. Sure.
I'm done with them. So you could move them.
You can put them back up. Yeah. Yeah, okay. I'm not allowed on a ladder. That's correct. But you also haven't been like, hey, let's put those bins back. I know you like the garage clean and you can't get in there.
I just assumed that you would know to put them back up. I don't know. You were done. That's what that means when they're out there. What?
So anyway, those need to get put away. I didn't know that. Well, you do now. My fault. But yeah, all I do is move stuff around. And most of it's boxes of clothes.
Well, currently there is a there is a bin with a box of clothes that are too small. And I'm gonna get into those again. I'm gonna get into them. I wore them once years ago. I'm gonna wear them again.
Have you tried them on lately? Um, no. Why not? I don't know. I just haven't.
Well, you should. I have I have a dress. There's a dress that I bought years ago that I really loved, and they only had the one size, and I was like, I can fit into this.
And I didn't. And so I have that hanging up every now and then as like a I'm gonna fit into that dress. So that's my that's my that's your gold dress? Yeah. All right. Where is it hanging? Where is it hanging? Yeah. I move it.
Oh, do you? Where is it now?
Right now it's in the closet because I had it hanging on my little shelf thing that's in our room, but it's right above the heater. Right. So it blows. So I had it as a reminder, but then I had to move it because the heat it was getting in the way of the vent. Okay, got it.
So Got it. I just want you to know that I didn't buy those pants because I already have some that I'm trying to use as a how do you know they didn't fit? Because I know you didn't try them on. No. I looked at the size. It's not and I put them around my neck.
You did that with a pair of pants very recently, and now you're like, these pants are too big. These pants keep falling off of me. And I went, Yeah, it's because you did the neck thing. Try them on. No.
Yes. I hate trying on clothes. Then you're gonna have two big, too small clothes all the time. Well, quit doing the neck thing. It doesn't work. It does. No, it doesn't. You've proved that it doesn't work.
They fit, didn't they? They're a little bit.
You fit, they're too big. But I can put them on. So it worked. Your neck is not the same as your hips. I don't care what the internet says. Putting your pants on like a cape and seeing if the button goes around is a terrible way to find out if your pants fit.
It's awful. You gotta try them on. You need to find your own. Whoever said this was a good idea, did it because they're like, watch how many pants we sell. Because people are like, we don't even have a fitting room. People just hold your pants up. It'll work every time.
Terrible advice. We're gonna go on a shopping trip, you and I, and we're both gonna do it. Yeah, no, we're not. Listen to me. No. We're both gonna try the neck thing.
No, I know my waist size. We're gonna take that. And all men's pants say size and length right on them.
I know that's the problem, isn't it?
That's a woman's problem. Yes. But also, and it's not fair.
The there's certain pants that don't fit. Like I can get the same pair of pants, like I can buy the same size, but depending on who's making the pants. Correct. fits.
That's why you have to try them on. Don't put your head down on your microphone Like it's the like I'm asking you to like, you're gonna have to work another 40 hours this week. That's not what I'm saying. Go into the fitting room, take four seconds and try on the pants. I have to take off my shoes. Wear slip ons.
Then I have to be barefoot in the fitting rooms. And then my feet are barefoot in the city. Wear socks socks and the fitting. And then I have to take off the pants and put on the pants. It's just so much that's called getting dressed. I know, but I've already gotten dressed. I don't want to crazy. I hate trying on clothes. I hate it. I hate it so much.
Last night I shared with you a post that our daughter had uh kind of liked on socials, and I said, uh oh. Because immediately I saw it and I went, her head is in a space. Uh that is uh she's going through like uh like a process right now. She's 17.
By the time we go through things right now that she's experiencing, she's now in the mind space that this is the last time she's experiencing those things as a child. Yeah. And this particular post was hey, 2009 babies. Uh, which that's weird.
It is weird. Is that right? 2009, yeah. 2009 babies. This is your quote unquote last Christmas as a child, is what it said.
Last Christmas. And so, yeah, well, let's slow down. Slow down. We're not there yet. We're we're not we're not there yet. But anyway, so that's where her head is. Yeah. And then I started having like emotions about it. Oh. Because I'm thinking about it, and I'm like, yeah, that's that's not untrue. And it isn't that there won't be, you know, new Christmases and new things, you know, that that happened and who knows what you know, college, school, whatever looks like after next year's senior year. Right. But but that's uh that's definitely a change that's coming. Well, we're real soon.
Already doing some changing. Our son is in the process of moving out, which is the first time we've had a child of ours move out of the house. Right. And it's kind of shaking up our world a little bit. Right. And while we're all kind of excited about it, we're all still
like He was over at his new place last night putting some stuff away and cleaning some stuff, and he came back home and he says last night, he goes, Hey, I got I've got room now for uh the bed if you want to move that over.
And I went, You tell me, man. Like that, but that's a big furniture. Yeah and that's sort of like that's the big piece. That's the biggest piece in the bedroom, and it's like But that's it.
Once you move the bed, he's not coming home. Uh right. Because it was he gonna sleep. I don't know. I don't know. I get it. I our daughter is pretty upset about it. They our daughter and son have a really really good relationship. They are they are best buddies.
Right. And she was pretty sad last night. She was like, I just don't want him to leave. Yeah, I don't want him to move out. He's my best friend. Uh she said, we tag team you guys all the time. I know they do.
And so she's like, What team up bully us around?
What am I supposed to do when I'm here alone with you guys? Do what you're told. Guess what? Chores are coming. Looks like me and dad might be bullying you. Where's your backup now?
Right. Yeah, right. Because the two of you we need a refreshment.
Like, I don't have to deal with that. The two of you are gonna team up on me. That's what's gonna happen. And then I'm gonna have to deal with all that.
No, it's more like you and her team up on me.
So here's what's the problem. Our 17-year-olds are manipulative. So shocker. Here's here's what's really going on in the house is between her and the dog, they run everything. Yes. That's 100% accurate. All right. Now we got that figured out.
No, I am having a little bit of uh a little bit of issue. Now, here's the thing, though, is that this isn't necessarily her last Christmas as a child. It's her last Christmas before she turns 18. Yes. That is true. But that doesn't mean she isn't still a child and still living at home.
She will still be living at home next Christmas as well. Yes. This one and the next one. Um whatever happens after that is yet to be seen. But that is uh like there's still two at home Christmases with her now.
What does it look like? Our son moves out. What's Christmas like then? Because now it's like you're gonna come home Christmas Eve, you're gonna hang out here, you're gonna come over Christmas morning. What's uh what's the plan?
The new that's what's the
new that's also got the emotions going like what's the plan? Like we gotta figure all that out. I know. I know.
You want to be an empty nester, but then you don't want anything to change. Yeah. Comfortable. I the problem is I've we I like our kids. Yeah. That's the problem. We have a great problem.
Is I like the kids.
We have a lot of fun when we're together. Right. And I'm gonna miss them.
Well, the good news is nothing's changed totally yet. Correct. So just in you're gonna miss this. That's that song. That's why they wrote that song.
You're gonna want this. Exactly. Would you consider candy a snack? If you're like a treat. Okay, thank you. I agree.
A snack is uh is like a mini meal.
Something a little more substantial.
Yeah, like uh like a jerky is maybe a snack. Uh handful of chips, a string cheese, uh piece of toast. That's weird, but sure. What? I don't just make a piece of toast. Toast is the best.
That's fine. Uh look, I I did, I will say, after school snack, cinnamon toast, absolutely. One more often than not, I was doing the tortilla roll-up.
I haven't done that in a long time. That was gross. It's a churro. What do you mean that's gross? It's the same as toast, but faster.
No. Because you take tortilla, you hit it with the butter, you sugar cinnamon, you put it in the microwave, you take it out, you roll it up, you're good to go. It's so fast. It's not toast. No, it's not. It never claimed to be. It never claimed to be toast. It was always a cinnamon sugar roll up on a tortilla. Never once was I like, now that's toast. No kidding.
Toast is so good. I could write poetry about toast. There's already plenty. Is there? You know a lot of toast poetry.
I know of a toast song. I know of a toast band. No, you know of a cover band called Toast. Yeah, that's toast. They're a bread cover band called Toast. You don't know a band. Get it together, man. That's not toast. Uh-huh. I know. Neither is pizza. But listen, that's fine. I mean, that's not toast.
Okay. Back to the beginning. Okay. I'm glad we're in agree.
It's having a bowl of cereal could be a snack. I agree. Uh charcuterie is a snack. Uh somebody said yogurt and granola. That's a breakfast. That's not a snack. No, I think that's a snack. Grabbing an apple can be a snack. Yeah. But candy.
Candy is not. No, that's a treat. That's a treat, agreed. And a treat. Granola bar. Snack. It's not the same or equal to candy. What? What? A snack is not the same or equal to a treat.
You could have snack and treat are not the same. Yeah. Correct. Yeah. Okay. I'm glad treat yourself to a snack. You can't snack yourself to a treat.
Yes, you can. I have done it many times. Which is why my pants don't fit. All right.
Ooh, what about a m like bagel bites? That's a snack. Yeah. Enough of them is a meal. I think that's a thing too. I think you can turn a snack into a meal.
Agreed. But I don't think you can turn a treat into a meal. Correct. You could, you could, but that's not a good idea.
Yeah. Like grabbing a couple of Oreos, that's a treat. That's not a snack. That's not a meal. Because you can't turn Oreos into a meal. Right. Healthily. Like you can, but that's that's a bad idea. So that's the difference. Yeah.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
Can you turn string cheese into a meal?
No. But if you make a little
charcuterie, see, that could be a meal. pepperoni, That's backpacking lunch. You got it. That's girl lunch. You got it. You got it. And I think it's okay now. Okay. You were trying to multitask. I was. I was jumping around.
I was doing a bunch of different stuff. Anyway, uh, okay. So here's what happened. Yesterday, uh, I had to go run an errand. Um, and so our boss Jade and I, we ran uh to pick up the pumpkins for the great pumpkin drop, which is happening on Saturday with Stone's Kia. Uh, which is gonna be really, really fun. Uh and so we had to pick up 17 pumpkins. And uh we got all kinds of different pumpkins, varying sizes and shapes, and uh it's gonna be a lot of fun because we're gonna take them up into the air and we're gonna toss them over the edge and they're gonna go splat on the ground, and 16 people are gonna walk away with prizes.
One of them is gonna walk away with a $500 visa gift card, which is pretty amazing, right? So uh that's the great pumpkin drop. Uh, and it is coming up on Saturday. Now our 16 qualifiers that each one will choose a pumpkin and we'll throw over the edge, they can win a prize. They have been selected, so there's uh no need to rush out and try to enter. We've selected our 16 qualifiers that will be joining us on Saturday for the pumpkin drop. Now, that doesn't mean that you don't get to have any fun because you weren't selected as a qualifier. We still want uh everybody to come out and watch and participate. Awesome.
It's gonna be awesome. Um, and in addition to the pumpkin drop, there's a lot of stuff going on. So you can wear your Halloween costume, you can check out local food trucks. There's a pumpkin pit filled with prizes, like a ball pit with hidden prizes in there for the kids. They've got free face painting going on, kid ID kits from the Idaho State Police, of course. Scary good deals on Kiyas, because it's a Stone's key.
This is Dilso Good, it's scary.
And uh the whole event is happening from 11 to 5. We will drop the pumpkins at noon. So if you want to be there and see the whole thing, this is at uh Stone's Kia on Woodruff in Idaho Falls. Uh, this is this Saturday, so it's gonna be a lot of fun.
It is, and you can come out and you can watch, and there's a bunch of stuff going on for the kids and the whole family, so that'll be a lot of fun. Um, go ahead. No, what's up?
I was just gonna ask, are you gonna wear a costume?
I should wear a costume. I don't know what I'm gonna wear.
Okay, I still have some pieces that I have to do. I have to make something. Yeah. And I have to buy something. Okay.
So you better get on that. If you're gonna wear that costume. We have bins of costumes that.
We do, but I have to I like the costume. Okay.
Anyway, are you gonna dress up? Probably. I just don't know what what costume I'm gonna wear yet. Okay. I gotta figure that out. Okay. But that aside, uh, we went on this errand to pick up the pumpkins. We picked up 17 because we have to have a test pumpkin. Because we have to we have to see what kind of uh what kind of mess we're gonna make. Yeah. So and and if the wind is just right and all those other things.
So we picked up one test pumpkin.
One test pumpkin.
I feel like you should probably have gotten a couple of test pumpkins.
Well, would we be testing just to make a mess?
Well, no, but what if the pumpkins don't splatter?
You think they're gonna bounce? What do you think's gonna happen? I don't think they're gonna bounce. Okay. I think I think it when it hits the ground, it's gonna make a mess. Okay, okay. And we're also we're not like carving them. Like we're we're gonna put a prize inside, and then we're gonna drop it. How are you gonna put a prize inside? This is not new to you. I feel like you've seen me do this with watermelon a handful of times.
Yeah, but that was a long time ago.
Oh, okay. It's the same way. I don't remember. Oh, okay. You just cut a hole. Yeah. And put a prize in and then seal the whole. How do you seal the hole?
I don't know. Duct tape. Glue. Gum. Yeah, gum. Everybody grab a stick of gum and start chewing so we can patch up these holes.
We'll figure that out. But so we picked up these pumpkins and then uh and then drove them back here to the studio. And what are you gonna do with 17 pumpkins? You're gonna put them in somebody's office.
That's what you're gonna do. And uh, and so when we got back, uh Victor, the morning guy on K-Bear, was out of the uh office having lunch. So we opened up his office and we put all 17 pumpkins in there, and it's a small space, it's not a big office. And we filled up his entire room. We put them under his desk, we put them in his chairs, we had them stacked up on top of his desk.
We had them all over. And he came back from lunch. He had his food in his hands, and he opens up his door and he about tripped over pumpkins, and then he couldn't put anything down because everything was pumpkins, which was fantastic. Oh, and we put on uh this is Halloween from Nightmare Before Christmas, really loud. So it's bump, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, while he's walking in.
He's the pumpkin king. It was great. It was very fun. That is funny. He was uh he was less than impressed, and uh he didn't like that they were dirty, they had dirt all over his desk, and he was having a moment, uh, which was pretty fun.
So this morning, uh Star who works in our billing department and does our graphics and stuff, she comes down and she goes, Hey, do you have any idea why there's uh 20 pumpkins in in my office? And I said, No. I do not. I had nothing to do with that. Uh do I know she didn't ask the right question.
Do you know who put 20 pumpkins in my office? I would still say no. Because it's why because they're 17. Do you know who put 20 pumpkins in my office? No, I do not.
I do I know who put 17 in there? Yes. Was I involved?
No. I was busy. I was working. Do I know that there is probably uh footage on the security cameras of 17 pumpkins making their way down the hall to your office?
Yes. That is true. You could probably roll tape and see what happened if you wanted. But uh anyway. They're around. We have the pumpkins. Uh that's gonna be fun. And Saturday is gonna be a blast when we get to drop them all. So uh if you want to be a part, it's gonna be fun.
Who's gonna go up in the scissor lift?
I think uh me and Jade and Maddie are gonna handle that part. Do you want to go up there and throw a pumpkin? I guess not. You absolutely can. I want to. Okay, cool. We'll put the harness on you and send you up there. Okay, I will. I'll do it. All right. I want to. Yeah.
So it'll be it'll be station employees that'll be going uh up in the lift. Okay. Uh because of you know, liability and those kinds of things. Uh, but yeah, we'll have our contestants will be selected at random. They will select a pumpkin, they will hand it to us, we will take it up, we'll throw it over the edge, and they'll go get their prize and the mashed up pumpkin guts.
I wanna go up in the scissor lift, but then I also, and I know that I can't, but I want to be the one controlling the raising and the lowering of the scissor list.
We have that designated to uh someone in the building already. Uh I think that was who has handled uh heavy machinery before.
I've handled heavy heavy machinery before. You couldn't handle that sentence. So I don't know what to tell you. I just want to mess with you while you're in the box. I know. I'm aware.
And there's no time for shenanigans.
They're absolutely there's always time for shenanigans. If somebody ever tells you there's no time for shenanigans, then they are a no fun fuddy duty. And that's rude.
Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather have a pillowcase full of milk duds or a pillowcase full of jelly ranchers? Milk duds. Milk duds? No way.
I would also rather you had a pillowcase full of milk duds, quite frankly.
You don't get to determine what's full of
my I do determine what's full of your pillowcase. Yeah. Yeah, I do. Or you and I don't see each other until that pillowcase is done. Because you chew on them. Yeah. You're a maniac. Yeah. I get bored.
So I have to do something else with them. I can't just. Yeah, I can't just but also you don't need that. Yeah, I do. No, you don't. Jolly ranchers are delicious.
Doesn't matter. I brought you home three of your favorite Tootsie Rolls and you yelled at me. So you don't need a pillowcase of anything.
No, I don't. I don't need it because I didn't yell at you. I said, thank you very much. You know these are my favorite. I appreciate it.
That's not what you said at all. That is not even close to what you're doing. What did I say? I was excited because I brought you home three of your favorite blue tootsie rolls. And I said, she's gonna love this.
I do love it. And they're little snacks, and that's a little treat. I'll be so nice. And I snuck them into your hoodie pocket, and I thought this will be so fun. She'll reach in there and she'll find them. You reached in and took them out and put them in the bowl, and you said, I can't have this. And then you I left.
Yeah, because I've been counting calories, and those aren't in my calories. But I love those. I left the room.
So nowhere in there did you say, thank you. You thought of me. That's so nice. You know what I like. No, none of that happened. I'm saying it now. But also, this is why you don't need a pillowcase of anything. No, I don't.
But if I had to choose, if somebody was like, hey, you have to pick.
you would pick Jolly Ranchers because you're a crazy person, and I hope they're all green apple. I like green apples. I know.
I like them all except blue raspberry. I hope they're all blue raspberry. Why?
Because I brought you candy you like and you were mean to me. I was not eating. you. I was just trying to be a nice person to bring you a little surprise. I don't need this. Get this away from me. Why would you bring this here? I'm sorry. Can't even look at it. I'm sorry. Put it in a little cup in the middle.
It was really nice. It actually was really nice because I do love those blue tootsie rolls. They're so good. They're white, actually. It's a white toot. It's a blue wrapper. It's a blue wrapper, but the Tootsie Roll itself is white. They're the vanilla tootsie rolls.
Yeah, it's not a tooty fruitie. It's a vanilla tootsie roll.
Rose. People have made that mistake before.
And they're like, did you ever uh go to a Chinese food restaurant and they had those little uh Tootsie Rolls that had the rabbit on them? Mm-mm. I gotta look that up really quick. I don't know what you're talking about. Uh white rabbit. Uh okay.
So I'm here's my apology. I'm sorry that I wasn't more grateful for your kind gesture, Josh. Did you Did you find out what you were looking for?
It's it's this white rabbit candy. I don't know where you uh where you get them. Have you not seen these before? No, I don't know what you're talking about. It's White Rabbit Creamy Candy. Uh, it is a brand of milk candy. Um, you've never had these. No, not even once. Oh, man. You could. I haven't had them in a really long time.
It says you can get them at World Market. Okay. Or you can get an Amazon, or you can get them at Walmart. Yeah, okay.
I haven't had the little white rabbit. in a long time.
Chewy milk-based confection from Shanghai. Yeah. Produced since 1943. Oh. Cool. Each piece features a signature double wrap.
Would you rather this or that?
We received a phone call yesterday from a listener who said that she was swinging by the station to give me a present. Yes. And we had just been talking about chocolate and how I eat all the chocolate in our house. And I said, Is it chocolate? It was not chocolate. It was not chocolate. I received a trophy. That's right. For greatness.
A trophy for greatness. Look at it. Look at it stand there.
It's over there. Tall and proud. It is tall and proud.
Shimmering in the light. It's a two-story trophy. It makes me very happy. Makes me laugh. So thank you to listener Marjean.
Yeah. Friend of the show. Fan and friend of the show. That's right. I appreciate the trophy. She said it was big enough that it could sit in the passenger seat and I'd be able to drive in the HOV lane. True story.
So next trip to Utah that you go solo. Take your four greatness trophy with you. Look at that thing.
I know it's huge. It's so funny. It makes me laugh.
When you when she handed it to you, you you pumped it in the air like I am the champion. You were very excited.
Yeah, well, yeah. You don't just like accept a trophy and be like, oh, I'll just hang this at my side. You gotta pump it. Yeah. Pom pomp it up. Pom pump pump pump it up. You did it.
I just you got the four greatness trophy.
I mean, I just I just I don't want to rub it in your face. Hey. But you did not receive a trophy, but I will share it with you, Josh. No. What's mine is yours. Except when it comes to chocolate. And what's yours is mine. And what's mine is mine.
It's the way the world works when you're a married man. What's ours is ours, and what's mine is yours, and what's yours is yours. And that's the way it is. That's fine. I've come to terms. I've been with you a lot of years. Enjoy your trophy.
We both can enjoy it because it's right there for both of us. It's behind me. I have to turn around to see it.
It's literally it's both of us because I don't I don't work without you. You're gonna have to start for greatness. It's a team unit. We're a unit. It's you and me. All right. Forever. Together.
Uh let's wrap up this show today. It's been a silly one.
It's been a goofy. It's been a silly goose kind of a day.
