Raw conversations with the 3 Aussie best mates behind Freedom Club.
I started this company with my bare hands. And a small donation of A
Josh:million dollars from my father.
Will:Earl Goodman. With my with my bare hands. Testing. Testing. One, two.
Will:Are you kidding me? Three. Hello.
Josh:Freedom Friday. Freedom Friday.
Will:You know what?
Austin:We're starting that. That's the intro. Yeah. Friday's Friday. Freedom Fridays, everyone.
Austin:Great.
Josh:Let's go.
Austin:We're back. Josh, Austin, Will. Boom. Three cofounders, Freedom Club, Australia's fastest growing ecommerce education community.
Josh:High five.
Austin:Boom. Oh. Air five. And look, we're not gonna waste any time. This is the show where you get to know all of us a little bit better Mhmm.
Austin:As the cofounders of Freedom Club. What happens behind the scenes? What do we get up to? What do we like when well, I was gonna say away from the cameras, but we're on camera right now. So it's your chance to get to know us a little bit better.
Austin:We are being
Josh:very natural in here.
Will:No, On teller.
Austin:Start the teleprompter again. Start it again. Starting straight away, random question of the day. You know how we do it. We jump straight in.
Austin:Time is of the essence here. If your personality was a car, what make and model would it be?
Will:Should we answer for everyone else?
Austin:Yeah. You can't, like, say, oh, I'm I'm this. I'm a Bentley. It's like other people have to think that.
Will:You can't you can't be a dick about it either. Like, give us some way. We're we're gonna be a dick about it. But who knows who knows
Austin:who You gotta be brutally honest and accurate. Okay. Even if it hurts their feelings, the game is the game.
Will:I mean Who goes to next?
Josh:It would be some sort of off road car.
Will:Wow, bro. You're not that adventurous.
Austin:Don't you see that, bro?
Will:Yeah. I do
Josh:see that. Okay. So we're doing for each other.
Will:Well, you just did yourself now, mate. So something hybrid Prius? That's like a tampon on wheels.
Austin:That's a cheap shot. Right. I like, I never gonna do that.
Josh:In this Prius.
Will:Wait. What you'd be like a like a Lexus or something.
Austin:What? Hello? A Lexus?
Will:No. I don't know.
Josh:Well, okay.
Austin:Think of me, brother.
Josh:Let me think.
Will:You'd like a Hilux, Josh. You're like getting your hands dirty. Hilux. Yeah.
Austin:Yeah. Like a a bit of a worn one. Like, it's been around.
Josh:Oh, yeah.
Austin:It's hit some hills.
Josh:Okay. I get it.
Austin:It's gone off road. Whoops. He has one job to not knock the pipe.
Josh:Me I think he'd be a sedan. I'm thinking sedan. Sedan? Load to the ground.
Austin:Load to the we're talking, it's like sport car I'm not that loaded to ground, though. I'm quite far away from the ground compared to you boys.
Josh:I don't know if you
Austin:Is that how it works?
Josh:I think you'd be a fast
Will:car. Yeah. You like going fast. That makes sense.
Josh:You're fast.
Austin:I like going the speed limit.
Josh:Yeah. I think you'd be a comfortable car, but you would be a fast you you'd have less comfort.
Will:Nice. Yeah. Nice. Less comfort.
Austin:Yep. What do you mean?
Josh:Like, you like Okay. Gotta pick one.
Austin:Yeah. I gotta pick one.
Josh:Suspension, like
Austin:Kinda say like what?
Will:Yeah. You can pick all of them. Right? So, okay, what's
Josh:that? Fucking really like, Josh. Yeah.
Austin:I like that.
Josh:Well, I just don't think you'd be you wouldn't care how smooth the
Austin:ride is.
Josh:Okay. Just like I'm getting there quickly.
Austin:Let's get final answers in.
Will:Yeah.
Austin:You should. Josh has a Hilux.
Will:Yeah. What's else But he's got
Austin:some premium add ons. Is there a sport edition Hilux? Bit of bit of oof turbo something? Or or a
Will:forward drive. Like like
Austin:Or a Jeep Wrangler. Thought he was a Jeep. Like, off road, but the because he was on a Rubicon.
Will:Land Cruiser. What am I?
Josh:Range Rover?
Austin:You're a Range Rover, my guy.
Will:I'll take that.
Austin:You are literally a walking Range Rover Evoque.
Will:Or a driving Range Rover. Evoque, you reckon? Evoque. Give me
Austin:give me a squat
Will:at least. You're you're
Austin:Evoque. Range. Evoque. You compact. You get around the city.
Austin:You're on the go.
Josh:You're on the move.
Austin:You're here. You're there. But you're you're you're basically you're nice to look at.
Will:I'm gonna take that as disrespect,
Josh:and I'm gonna
Will:tell you, watch your mouth. Okay. I'll take it.
Austin:I'll take A a black Evoque. That's a good car.
Will:Okay. So what what's his what's his rigid what's what are saying? What's Austin's?
Austin:We gotta wrap up this segment. It's gotta be Yeah. No.
Will:It's we're we're
Josh:I mean, what do you think?
Will:So you're saying it's it's low to the ground. It's fast. He's not afraid of a few bumps.
Josh:I'm think I'm thinking Audi.
Will:Maybe Audi and then
Josh:Aston in a year or two.
Austin:Oh, upgrade.
Will:Let's go Aston Martin
Josh:and move the on.
Austin:Oh my goodness. Wow. Hilux Range Rover Sport. Aston. Sport.
Will:No. You can't
Austin:slide that in
Will:the Turbo.
Austin:Okay. Now we're gonna talk crazy comments. Okay? We've done this before every time. Every week we do this segment, and we're talking about what are people saying on the ads.
Austin:Because we run a lot of ads, and the reason why is because it's still for us the best way to tell people about what we do. Mhmm. Whether people like seeing our face or not, it it does get through to a lot of people, and they're able to see us for the first time. Until we get it to the point where we're making more content personally, more people are finding out about us that way. But the game is the game.
Austin:It's still the best way to be, I guess, known. Doing billboard TV, that's that's not what we're gonna do. Yeah. So running ads on social media.
Will:We did almost do a billboard in Bali, though. We're close to doing that. Would've been cool.
Josh:On the shortcut.
Austin:It would've been cool. The problem is, though, do you think there's so many billboards? Like, does it grab you it would have to be really attention grabbing. Something different from the rest.
Josh:I think it was just completely plain with just, like, a really, really small text in the middle.
Will:Yeah. Because
Josh:club. Everyone's gonna like, what? Yeah.
Will:All the other ones are so detailed. So if ours was just simple, that would go grab my eyes.
Austin:Okay. I like that. Well, okay. Is there any comments that have hit you guys recently that you wanted to bring up?
Josh:Yeah.
Austin:Because we've talked about some rough ones, to be fair.
Josh:Put a shirt on, you scammer.
Austin:Put a shirt on. Can you even iron your clothes?
Josh:Get an iron.
Austin:No. This guy talks about making money. He doesn't have an iron. Yeah. That was an original one.
Josh:So I do put one of my first ads I did, I had a really big crease in the shirt. It was just it was a creasable shirt. It was actually from Bo. It was a bouquet shirt.
Will:Great.
Josh:But it was so crease, and I think every, like, fourth or fifth person would comment about this crease. I'm there telling people, you know, they should, you know, get out there and live their lives, stop throwing away their twenties, and everyone was blasting me for this huge crease in my shirt. Yeah. My most my most commented comment for sure.
Will:This is when you were standing and dressing the camera. Was I filming this one?
Austin:Yeah. In Bolton. Bolton.
Will:Oh, yeah. We briefly mentioned it in another episode briefly. I remember. Yeah.
Austin:Yeah. Iconic. And maybe you could think, was he a genius underneath it all? And he did that on purpose.
Josh:Throw away your twenties working your ass off to make somebody else rich.
Austin:That's exactly what he said.
Will:Yeah. But it doesn't work as well because his shirt's not crazy. No. Yeah.
Josh:It wouldn't work anymore.
Austin:And that tone doesn't you were really honest in that
Josh:Yeah.
Austin:Which came through.
Josh:It was so good for engagement. I've literally shot ads with a purpose crease after that.
Austin:He's tried to replicate the results. Never worked.
Will:Yeah. What about you? What about you? I'm trying to think of one. Can you think of one that I got landed with?
Austin:I saw one I think we've all got the daddy's money at least once. Because I look at all of our comments. I'm trying to get a pulse on what are people saying, should we make different ads? People are very skeptical at the start. They're like, why don't you just show student results?
Austin:I thought that was actually a really good idea. Yeah. We don't do that in the ads. We show screenshots, but, like, what? It's a screenshot.
Will:What is that even testimonials? Is them talking? Them talking. Yeah.
Austin:We have the footage from the events. We've got the success story and the videos. We've got the videos we randomly get from students, and they're really happy about things. Mhmm. I
Will:mean, yeah, a student just the other day sent me a a thank you thank you video.
Austin:Shout out to Richard. Yeah. So, like, those would be great. And so I'm looking now. I'm not I got don't have any negative comments of the past week.
Austin:I I know I do, and I've seen them, but I've been learning from this.
Will:Bro, I've got something for daddy's money. Like it's a little bit of a rebuttal. So if you don't understand e commerce, hopefully you do. The whole model of drop shipping is you need like no money to start. So a daddy's money comment is super irrelevant because you don't actually need an investment or capital.
Josh:Yeah. That's right.
Austin:You do need some. Let's not get that twisted.
Will:Yeah. But daddy's money like
Austin:Not like big bowl of money.
Will:Somewhat like a, you know, a few $100 to launch your ads. If you're getting a program, getting one on one coaching, you need a few thousand dollars. You know
Josh:I started this company with my bare hands. And small donation of I've made a few
Josh:million dollars from my father.
Will:Earl Goodman. With my with my bare hands. That's so funny,
Austin:by the Is that is that from Dodgeball? Yeah.
Will:Yeah. Maybe in this episode, I don't know if we're gonna throw clips in. We could throw that clip of Earl
Josh:Earl Here at Globo GM, we're better than you, and we know it. Iconic
Austin:movie. So good. Oh, god. So good. Okay.
Austin:Let's talk about highlight of the week. What's been going on with you boys? This week? What's been up? Something funny happened, a funny story.
Josh:Mhmm. Mhmm. I have a not so funny story.
Austin:Not so what happened?
Will:That works.
Josh:So Hayden, good friend of mine, accidentally threw my phone in the ocean. And it was in the ocean for an hour and a half before I found it. Anyway, got it out of the water. It was working, then it went black, stopped working. I had to come to Dubai basically to get a new phone.
Josh:Now I've always had AppleCare AppleCare Plus. I'm like a fanatic about it. I love it. When I changed my Apple Store from Australia to The UAE in December, it canceled my AppleCare. So I'm like, oh, sweet.
Josh:Go in there. 360 dirhams, get a new phone. No. I had to pay for the full replacement, which was bullshit.
Will:That's rough, man.
Austin:Stitch up. What have we learned from this? Check your AppleCare subscription, people. Or don't send Pay us on the Yeah. Care is important.
Austin:Or
Josh:don't check your AppleCare. Both applicable.
Austin:What about you?
Will:You gotta go. I gotta think. Gotta think. Highlight of the week.
Austin:Well, something that I found out is how overpriced things are in Dubai. We get reminded of that pretty consistently anyway. And look, I know in most places in the world, you could keep it pretty relaxed if you wanted to. You go to the the normal restaurants, you you do normal things, like, and it's fine. It's not overly expensive.
Austin:But we're going on a boat and it just it's painful. It's painful. So we had some people that went out on the boat and they went first. They went about an hour and a half, two hours before. And so yeah.
Austin:And then they said, okay. Well, we'll hop on a a boat to transfer us to yours because the boat's not gonna come back to the harbor just to pick us up. You get taken on a smaller boat, of course. Okay. Organizing that, they're like 3,000 dirham.
Austin:I'm like, what? Is the boat that we're getting on like ages away? They're like, you need a speedboat, it's gonna be this, we're gonna get you there. I'm like, okay, I guess. Then when we get on it, five minutes later.
Austin:We were in the harbor going five k's an hour.
Josh:Yeah. So slow walking pace through the harbor. And they were at JBR 10 meters 10 meters from the shore. Like, you could have
Austin:We could have swung there.
Will:Make sure that's straight as well, you, Mike bro. Yeah. Wait. That's
Austin:so 3000 Durham. Crazy. Crazy work.
Will:That that's the thing with Dubai is, like, yeah, you everything costs, like, a substantial amount of
Austin:money Yeah.
Will:Even the small things.
Josh:Are the normal stores more expensive here?
Will:Grocery stores are okay.
Austin:I normal store, it's not.
Josh:Ralf the here to Ralf the in Australia.
Will:We get the you get the tax back. We don't because we're residents, actually.
Josh:I feel like it's it's like one and a half times the price for a shirt.
Austin:I know I know it's something a lot.
Will:Singapore was definitely more expensive than UAE. Okay. The same stores. I've I've got a highlight by the way as well. It's kind of funny, kind of cool.
Will:So recently I invested in buying some silver bars and it's actually quite funny. So I went to this, this jeweler. It was a reputable company, of course, Of course, champagne into the studio,
Austin:of course. Compliments of the company.
Will:Compliments of the company. So anyway, so I got, you know, x amount, let's just say it was really, really heavy. So I parked sort of far away. So then I had to, like, carry this silver. It was it was it was so hard to carry, like, through the street.
Will:People were just looking at me. So I'm holding this, like, bag. It just,
Austin:like, wouldn't move, and I
Will:was, like, almost dragging it. I was just wondering, like, if people knew that was just walking around, like, pulling silver behind. Like I don't know. It's just quite funny.
Austin:It's a good it's your treasure.
Will:My treasure? I'm now a pirate. It was an interesting experience. You know? Like, I can't say I've
Austin:yeah. That's it. And then, yeah, you gave me one of those bars to hold. It's like it's it surprises you. You know how heavy it is.
Austin:It says how heavy it is, but you pick it up and you're
Will:Yeah. Because it's just,
Austin:like, such a small thing.
Will:Yeah. Seriously.
Austin:Maybe I need to get in the gym.
Josh:The booty. Yes. Arr.
Will:Arr. But by the way, if you are yes. Silver's a good investment right now. Up to you anyway.
Austin:Cool. We can't give financial advice. Yeah.
Josh:He's he's not a financial professional. Okay.
Will:I I take that back. Professional.
Austin:Well, moving on the next You
Josh:gotta definitely give that disclaimer there, think.
Austin:The disclaimer. Okay. Yes. We're not financial professionals. Neither is Will, neither am I, neither is Josh.
Austin:So do not go and buy silver based on his recommendation.
Will:Okay. Don't do it.
Austin:No silver. Okay. But speaking of silver, oh, that is the cleanest segue of this century. Oh, student of the week. Student of the week.
Will:Boy, you're welcome. A
Austin:certain someone that I've known since I was a child has hit silver.
Will:Is this Ank? Anky?
Austin:It's not Ank. Sis then? It's Sis. Sis?
Will:God, I'm a fan.
Austin:Jordan Jordan, if you're watching this, shout out to you, proud of you. Been sticking with it. She's been it's been a longer journey for her and she's launched a few products, but she's been busy with work. Like she she works hard. She works hard.
Austin:I'm sure a lot of people do, but I see my sister, she's working hard. And she's been doing e com in the background. She hit silver.
Will:Wow. Let's go Jordan. Right? Jordan. Let's go Jordan.
Will:What an
Austin:awesome And now she's on track for gold and very, very exciting. It's such a cool wholesome moment because we teach strangers how to do this. And then occasionally you get a family member because they're like, well, I've been watching you since day one. Like with Jordan, she saw me in my bedroom when I was like a teen, you know, first thinking about online business after high school. Mhmm.
Austin:She saw me leave home. She saw me move overseas and we chat. And then yeah. Now it's cool to see family members getting results.
Josh:That's awesome.
Austin:Because my uncle also he's he's Damon. Just below gold, They're just below 10 k month in profit, and he's been at that stage for quite some time. Mhmm. So that's cool.
Will:Yeah. I mean, I I got into e comm through family. Josh got into e comm, then I got into e comm. Yeah. When you see your family members doing well, it's like, you know, you trust them.
Will:Why not get into it?
Austin:Why not
Will:try it? And then it worked out pretty well
Josh:for what freedom is. I had it in my live call. I had, this lady, and she must be, you know, 50. And she said, do you mind if I do this with my niece?
Austin:And I
Josh:was like, absolutely. Like, that's what freedom's about. Like, we're teaching you so you know, so you can share this share this knowledge.
Will:And
Josh:that's beautiful to bring the family together, give the whole family freedom. Great. Absolutely. How old your sister?
Austin:24.
Will:Oh, yes. Well done. It's so exciting. Yeah. Mhmm.
Austin:That was really cool to see. Shout out to Jordan, student of the week for this week. Now let's wrap up this episode. We're talking source, our favorite section. Ecom slash life slash cooking slash anything source.
Austin:What's the thing you wanna share with the people, our beautiful listeners and watchers?
Josh:Source. Source. What do we got for today?
Will:You have something ready to go?
Austin:This is the problem. We do this so raw. Like, we've got a we've got some time. We've got a full week to think of, like, some sauce. And then we just
Josh:We prepare for this.
Austin:No. We don't. We want it to be, like, really raw. Like this is what's top of mind right now. What's actually going through your
Will:head. Yeah.
Austin:Could be tips, could be strategy, something that's trendy at the moment, something else. Mhmm.
Josh:I think my source would be, and this kinda comes from Homozy. I can't remember how exactly he words it, but he said, like, if you wanna get something do done, he said, lock yourself in a room with no windows, no lights, and just heavily caffeinate for, like, twelve to fourteen hours or whatever he says. And I not to that extreme. But do you know what I'm talking about?
Will:I guess I think heard have
Josh:you heard that little clip of him?
Austin:Well, just the principle of, like, sit down and do the work.
Josh:You just sit down. You just remove put your phone in another room. You just sit there in front of the computer until it's done. And I think that is a very important bit of source. It's distractions and removing them.
Josh:And once you do, you can kinda sit there and, you know, even if you procrastinate a little bit, you're gonna stay in that spot because you've got the discipline to do it. You're gonna get it done. So
Austin:Force yourself.
Josh:Force yourself into a distraction free zone and lock yourself to the chair. Put a little ankle bracelet on till it's done.
Will:Cool.
Austin:Lock ins. Remove everything as well. With the work to do. Mhmm. Where we hit us?
Will:I thought of some sauce because yeah. So every every Mondays and Thursdays, I talk to my coach. So my coach, he's kinda like a, like a spiritual adviser. He's a Christian pastor. Then he also helps me with business, helps me with life.
Will:Sometimes he's like a psychologist. Yeah. Kinda like wears a few hats. I think that, you know, if you're in a position, I guess where
Josh:you can afford it, or
Will:maybe it's just a friend or a family member holding you accountable. I think having someone that that can really help with your personal development while you're growing, you know, your business or while you're focusing on e comm or whatever it is, it can just make such a massive difference in, in all aspects of life. I know it made such a difference in my life just with like routine and structure. And yeah, so if you can find someone that you can speak to once a week, twice a week, that just holds you accountable, calls you up on your shit. If you write a list of tasks, making sure you do them.
Will:And it really, really goes hand in hand with e comm, especially when you, when you're learning, if you have things you got to do that week, having someone hold you accountable, yeah, it really helps.
Austin:A good tip, man. Because most people, they'll let themselves down before they'll let someone else down. Yeah. Like you're accountable to someone, you gotta you gotta you don't wanna disappoint them. You said you do it, you wanna follow through.
Austin:Like that's a really good tip. Good tip.
Will:Yeah. Yeah. But also just and and just just to veer away from ecom for a second, just like the personal development side, I think, is really is really important.
Austin:Yeah. Consistently doing that. There's no end. No. It keeps going.
Austin:Yeah. Yeah. I think the big one for me that I've been reminded of this week is how much of an impact the stuff we watch and listen to affects how we feel. Mhmm. And I noticed it.
Austin:I was working in a coworking space this week. I was like, gotta lock in new environment, let's get him flow. Have a lot of coffee, boom, lock in. There were windows in that room, unfortunately. It wasn't just
Josh:a And lights?
Austin:The lights were on.
Will:Wow. God you're insane.
Austin:Well, didn't even optimize it. But throughout the day, I started by listening to just instrumental. Like, really like listening to either, okay, I'll I'll be honest and vulnerable here. Succession soundtrack. If any of you have watched Succession, something about that theme, like, it just hits.
Austin:You're like, I'm locked in. I gotta build this massive business. I'm going to like, it's just puts you in this state of mind after watching all the episodes of that show. I love it. And so then there's that or the Interstellar soundtrack puts me in a different, like, headspace.
Will:Is that Cornfield Cornfield Chase, is
Josh:it? Yeah.
Austin:Cornfield Chase. I'll just go for the the full the full one, start to finish of the movie. You can do the one hour loop of day one or Cornfield Chase.
Will:Okay.
Austin:But there's this, like, real source.
Josh:Same song just looping.
Austin:Yeah. But it doesn't sound like an end in a star. It just all blends. So it puts you in you're off, like you're dialed. So then all of that aside, locked in, focused, I put on some other music.
Austin:It was some slowed and reverbed. I'm like, it's the end of the afternoon, like I'm just gonna do some admin stuff, wrap up for the day. And it was on like shuffle or something, and it puts in like slightly sadder songs, like slowed and reverbed. And I noticed my mood changed so much. Like, this is the other day I was so optimistic, amped, all this, and now this other music comes on.
Austin:And I'm thinking about all the things that are wrong. I'm, like, slightly pessimistic. And the only thing that's changed, maybe I was tired and hadn't eaten, but it was the music. So when you're trying to put yourself in a state of mind to get a lot of work done, I think you really have to control what you're listening to or what environment you're in. Yeah.
Austin:So it makes such a big difference.
Josh:For
Austin:sure. Such a big difference.
Will:Nice, bro. Thank you for sharing that. Thank you.
Austin:That's the source. I
Will:felt the vulnerability.
Austin:Yeah. That's another episode. Oh, by
Josh:the way, just something. If I ever am in the mood to listen to a sad playlist, Will has the best one. I I borrowed it a couple of times. I'm like, yo, I need the I need the playlist.
Austin:The sad playlist.
Josh:Just for whenever you're in that no. It's more like sing alongs, you know? It's the songs that you just like in your feels. Yeah. But yeah, if you ever need to borrow it, it's great.
Will:Just just quick context, know we gotta go. Dude, thanks for mentioning that. May as well I love right now. But yeah, it's called it's called Feals.
Josh:Feals.
Will:And I I appreciate the the feedback actually. Yeah. But I I remember I I used to see this is not the coach I was just talking about. I used to see a psychologist back when I was younger, help go through stuff growing up as a young man, whatever. And she's like, you need to feel more.
Will:You need to, like, be more emotional so that you could release it, regulate it. It's typical for a lot of men to hold it all in and then, you know, that can create anger, resentment, whatever. So, yeah, she said just create a playlist and just, like, vibe out and just let it all out and
Josh:It worked. I'm a better person now. It literally works. It's amazing. I'm a bottle up kinda guy with emotion, but you listen to that playlist, it's like comes out of you.
Will:When was the last time you listened to it? Curious.
Josh:On the way here? No. I mean, last time I listened to it would have been, yeah, maybe three or four months ago or something.
Austin:K. Mhmm. That's our source for this episode. Wrapped up. Another episode in the books, Freedom five Let's go.
Josh:We'll see you
Austin:next week everyone. The Club of Freedom. Thank you for coming. Hope you enjoyed it. We'll see you next week.
Will:Cool.
