Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend... Prayer does
not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him. – Steps to Christ,

The numbers on the small, glowing LCD display read 3.956
MHz. Atmospheric noise threatened to drown out the voice coming
from a small, black speaker sitting to the left of the large HF radio that
resided on the table in front of me. The tiny, square microphone sat in
my hand as I waited for the operator of the amateur radio “net” to call
for “check-ins.” Finally, I had my chance. I pressed the PTT (Push To
Talk) button and began to speak, using the Phonetic Alphabet to state
my call sign. “This is Kilo Golf Seven Mike Zulu Romeo Stroke Victor
Echo Seven.” I released the PTT button and strained to hear as the
net control responded, affirming my check-in.
I really enjoy amateur, or “ham” radio, as we like to call
it. Radio technology has come a long way since Marconi started
experimenting in the attic of his home in the 1890’s. In comparison
with the 13 billion miles that radio signals now travel from the Voyager
1 spacecraft to earth, Marconi's distances become microscopic.
The spark gap transmitters and other relatively clumsy apparatus
of yesterday have been replaced by the much more powerful and
compact radios of today. Many things we take for granted like Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, and even weather prediction, rely, at least in part, on radio
technology.
As incredible as radio communication is, there is another
much more efficient, direct, and personal communication system.
It doesn’t take expensive equipment, months of study, and careful
maintenance to use. All it takes is an honest heart and a clear mind.
Instead of talking to earthbound humans or even hi-tech, deep
space satellites, we have instant access to the King of the universe.
It’s called prayer, and it is the furthest reaching, fastest traveling
communication known to date. Don’t take this blessing for granted.
Talk to Jesus about whatever is on your heart. He wants to hear from
you!
