Project Church

Pastors Caleb and Chrissy Cole share the Word for the Year for Project Church: Fresh Wind. From Acts 2 and the story of Pentecost, they call the church back to prayer, presence, and waiting on the Holy Spirit. This message teaches that before God moves us, He must first fill us, and that Fresh Wind softens hearts, renews passion, and aligns believers with God’s mission. A call to enjoy God’s presence, not just perform religion, and to make prayer the primary vision.

Caleb Cole
we want to share with you we are in this series called Rhythm Timing. We've been enjoying this series where we started the year by establishing healthy spiritual rhythms. This has all been rooted in acts chapter two, verse 42.

00;00;11;28 - 00;00;35;04
Caleb Cole
So these four things that the early church committed themselves to is what we've been walking through. And so the early church acts 242, they devote themselves to the apostles teaching. So you guys remember week one? I preached the message and challenge you guys, every believer, every day in God's word. That's right. Somebody was there. So so that was the challenge week one.

00;00;35;06 - 00;00;50;07
Caleb Cole
Then we we went on, if you guys could throw up acts 242 for me, that'd be great. We went on and we said, they've always said the apostles teaching the fellowship, the breaking of bread. So last week, Pastor Sam talked about community. A lot of you sign up for community groups. They're still out there on the porch.

00;00;50;07 - 00;01;07;29
Caleb Cole
If you're looking for a group man, let's get in. Relationship was getting community. He preached on that. And then today we're talking about the prayers. And so we want to talk about prayer. Now I'm throwing in an additional week. Week five next week Christy we're throwing a little add on. All right. And I'm going to do something I've never done.

00;01;08;01 - 00;01;27;19
Caleb Cole
I think maybe in the history of our church, Christy, what do you think? I'm gonna preach a whole message next week on what it means and how we should be physically healthy. Ooh. So come, come back. Next week is going to be an interesting one. I've never done it. And so next week come back I'm gonna talk about physical health.

00;01;27;21 - 00;01;50;16
Caleb Cole
And so this is an add on. It's not rooted in acts 242. But there are scriptures to talk about. I think it's going to challenge us. Make us maybe a little uncomfortable, but it'd be fun. But today we want to focus on prayer. Prayer is something that we say here at church is our power, that it is from God and through connection with him, that we establish the power that flows from his presence.

00;01;50;18 - 00;02;10;12
Caleb Cole
Another one of our core values is presence. Presence is our priority. We prioritize the presence of God. And so we've been a church who these last three years, we have been committed to being a church of prayer. We have, three prayer rooms. We're going to tell you more about what's coming in the prayer rooms. But why? Because this is what the early church did.

00;02;10;14 - 00;02;32;06
Caleb Cole
They did these four things. And in doing these four things, they establish healthy spiritual rhythms. So we have to follow their example. Too often we focus on what's the new trendy thing, rather than going back to what's worked for 2000 years for the church. This has worked for 2000 years. This is how we should be living as followers of God.

00;02;32;09 - 00;02;51;19
Caleb Cole
And so I want to read. If you have your Bibles, you can go with me acts chapter two. Because here's what happens. Jesus ascends in acts chapter one. He ascended to heaven. But before he ascends, he says, wait. Wait on one that's coming. Who's going to dwell within you and going to give you power? He says, wait on the Holy Spirit.

00;02;51;21 - 00;03;12;19
Caleb Cole
And so they wait. You know how long they waited? They waited ten days in the upper room. Some of y'all have a hard time waiting ten minutes on God, you know what I'm saying? Like you have a hard time waiting ten minutes on food. They waited ten minutes or we had a hard time waiting ten minutes. They waited ten days.

00;03;12;21 - 00;03;38;24
Caleb Cole
And then God dropped the Holy Spirit on them. Let's read acts chapter two. We're going to start in verse number one says, when the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place, and suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind. Everybody say wind. Every year we do something Christian. I have done this for 13 years, which is we establish a word of the year.

00;03;38;27 - 00;04;07;08
Caleb Cole
This is the word of the year for our church. And for the last several years we've given you wristbands. So last year, what was our word? Consecration. Yes. You guys are on it today. Today we are launching this word of the year for 2026, which is fresh wind. We're believing for a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to flow through our lives, through our church, through our experiences, through our presence nights, through our prayer rooms, through your lives.

00;04;07;10 - 00;04;24;14
Caleb Cole
Fresh witness on your way out, get your tan wristband that says fresh wind because we want you to remember. We want you to be thinking about it. We want you to be focusing on it, praying about it. Chris, you got your risk. So she finally did the first two services. She didn't have it on. And I was like waiting to call her out.

00;04;24;14 - 00;04;44;07
Caleb Cole
But she did a good job. All right, let's keep reading. Came a heaven came from heaven, a sound like a mighty rushing wind. And fill the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues, as a fire appeared to them. Rested on each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit began to speak in other tongues, as the spirit gave them utterance.

00;04;44;10 - 00;05;08;19
Caleb Cole
Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together. They were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. And they were amazed and astonished, saying, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? You see, before the wind moves the church, the wind has to fill the church.

00;05;08;22 - 00;05;33;08
Caleb Cole
We need a fresh move of his spirit in our lives. I'm here to tell you I need it. We need it. Our church needs it. And that's why we will invite you into today a commitment, a fresh commitment to prayer, which invites the presence of God, to prayer, which invites this fresh wind to prayer in his presence, which invites this presence that will change us in boldness of the Holy Spirit moving through us.

00;05;33;10 - 00;05;39;29
Caleb Cole
Fresh wind ultimately can turn any heart of stone into a heart of flesh. Yeah.

00;05;40;01 - 00;05;58;27
Chrissy Cole
So this morning we're going to take ourselves through a process of allowing our hearts to be reexamined by ourselves and God in his presence. His presence is here. You know, a lot of times we sing worship songs and that softens our heart. To receive the word, a softening has to happen. A change in our heart has to happen.

00;05;59;00 - 00;06;18;12
Chrissy Cole
If we want any substantial traction to take place in our life. For some of the rhythms that we've created, some of us are trying to create rhythms in our own strength, and then they never gain traction. There's too much friction in our lives. And so let's let's really allow the Lord's examine our hearts and you with me, with him.

00;06;18;14 - 00;06;45;23
Chrissy Cole
Examine your heart. Because I think in a room this large, no matter how long you've been walking with the Lord, maybe a week or maybe over 30 years, our hearts are not perfect, is there? Deceitfully wicked. And there's parts of it where it does grow into stone, or there's a little harshness, there's a little hardness. And maybe it's because of things that have happened in this world, in this country, in this, in our families.

00;06;46;00 - 00;07;05;20
Chrissy Cole
I don't know what it is, but allow the Lord to speak to those soft, to those harder spots in your heart. I think some of our hearts, some of those places of stone, will be turned into hearts of flesh, so we can feel again, so that we can feel him so we can understand what he's trying to do.

00;07;05;22 - 00;07;29;14
Chrissy Cole
And so we're going to take this Vision Sunday not to give you what our vision is. If we just give you a bunch of to do's based off of what Pastor Caleb and Christy think, I would be afraid for the future of this church. Okay, but we want to hear from God. We want to hear from heaven. We want to know what he sees.

00;07;29;14 - 00;07;49;12
Chrissy Cole
And so first we're going to do what the disciples did. You know, disciples are Christ followers. They're not trying to become their best selves. They're trying to become more like Christ. Right? Same with us. They were waiting for the win. They were waiting for the spirit. And when we're waiting, what happens is there's a heart softening that takes place in our hearts.

00;07;49;19 - 00;08;10;07
Chrissy Cole
Fresh wind softens our hearts to listen. Yeah. Are you listening? At the beginning of the year, did you jump on the train for a new diet, a new reading plan? If you're anything like me, you subscribe to a couple. I did like one reading plan and maybe I told you this already, but I subscribe to one reading plan.

00;08;10;07 - 00;08;29;28
Chrissy Cole
And then I was like, you know what, 365 days? Let me subscribe to the other one that's called The Shred and read the Bible in 30 days as well. Like, let's just doing the most. Okay. And some of us Christians, we sometimes do the most and we don't stop. We don't stop with our achieving mindsets and we don't just stop and listen.

00;08;30;01 - 00;08;52;27
Chrissy Cole
Waiting is the discipline of listening. What is it that you're waiting for? I think the Lord is wanting to reveal himself through what your desires actually are, and what his desires really are. What are you waiting for? I know my boys. They play junior high basketball, seventh and eighth grade. They're waiting on the bench to get in the game.

00;08;52;29 - 00;09;14;23
Chrissy Cole
Some of you are waiting for that relationship. Some of you are waiting for that partner to just pop the question. You're waiting for a job. I think there are things in your hearts that you have been waiting for, and maybe there hasn't been enough faith to even ask for them. And maybe in the waiting, your faith can be strengthened.

00;09;14;25 - 00;09;38;06
Chrissy Cole
I know my friend was waiting to hear back from her realtor on the response of, the buyer. Thank God they got good news in Jesus name. There's waiting. But I want to encourage you that before acts two, there's acts one where we see Jesus speaking to the disciples and what Jesus does is not give strategy right away.

00;09;38;08 - 00;10;00;29
Chrissy Cole
What does he do? He commands them to wait. Acts one one through three. So for 40 days he walks the earth. After he resurrected, and there was power that was proven to the disciples because he was resurrected from the dead. So when they were walking with him, being in his presence, they were only commanded to wait.

00;10;01;02 - 00;10;23;25
Chrissy Cole
When you encountered his presence, you will be more patience. You will want to wait. And so I love that Jesus doesn't give them strategy. Jesus gives them talks about the kingdom. And so some of us in this room need to be reminded in our waiting. As you're waiting are you representing the kingdom? The kingdom is righteousness, peace, joy in the spirit.

00;10;23;28 - 00;10;47;01
Chrissy Cole
What are you waiting for and how are you waiting for it? It should look like kingdom waiting. Waiting isn't at inactivity, it's discipleship. If you're going to be formed into something, let it be formed into his likeness and waiting helps you be formed into him. Waiting in anticipation for the power to come is is what we should get used to as believers.

00;10;47;03 - 00;11;21;00
Chrissy Cole
Jesus instructs them to wait. He doesn't give them a mission plan. He gives them a posture to approach him with, to approach the soon coming promise. What promises are you waiting for? God wants you to wait on him. Richard Hendricks, pastor theologian. He says, second only to suffering. Waiting may be the greatest teacher and trainer in godliness, maturity, and genuine spirituality most of us ever encounter.

00;11;21;02 - 00;11;44;27
Chrissy Cole
Can I encourage you that what you're waiting for is forming you in something better than yourself. It's forming you. And what impatience does is it creates anxiety. And I've had to remind myself of that when I have anxious moments, my kids experience the most anxious mom when we are trying to leave the house, and I'm hurrying them. Now remember preschool.

00;11;44;27 - 00;12;07;23
Chrissy Cole
And this has haunted me since preschool. My kids were in preschool. The teachers gave us a worksheet to read to prep yourself for, bring your kids off to preschool, and it said an anchor. An anxious child is a hurry child. I go will shoot because some of y'all know in the mornings where you're trying to get out of the house, hurried ness, right?

00;12;08;00 - 00;12;32;28
Chrissy Cole
I just don't think we know how to wait. And I think about a book that came out after covet. It was for young adults, and it was really documenting and observing the way the next generation had responded after Covid. It calls that post-Covid, teenagers, the anxious generation and perhaps they were anxious because they didn't know how to wait.

00;12;33;00 - 00;12;57;29
Chrissy Cole
Or maybe it was hard to wait, and it was hard for everybody. They were waiting to get to see their friends again. They're waiting to get back to school. They're waiting to play their sports again. They were waiting and waiting. We're all waiting for the virus to die down. We're waiting for something. Open up, we're waiting. And I think the greatest antidote to our anxiety is waiting.

00;12;58;01 - 00;13;24;06
Chrissy Cole
Is there anxiousness? Is there purposelessness? Is there wondering about if the promise is ever going to come through? Well, remember that there is somebody who has died and rose again defeated. Death? How? In the grave, in the waiting. We focus on him, in the waiting. Remember that the promise will come through. And the promise precedes the power that we're all hoping for.

00;13;24;08 - 00;13;49;05
Chrissy Cole
We want the mighty rushing wind now. But in acts one, Jesus commands us to wait. Let's wait. While waiting isn't rooted in trust or waiting is rooted in trusting the Lord. God wants to develop the trusting bone in your body. So many of us think waiting is just delay, but when we have resurrection proof of Jesus, we can wait.

00;13;49;07 - 00;14;05;28
Caleb Cole
In my experience, God will send people into your life to help you learn how to wait. For me, you know God sent Christi into my life. So every day I wait in the car for her to get ready and we leave sometimes. You said that.

00;14;05;28 - 00;14;10;06
Chrissy Cole
Every service, and I thought it was like a serious moment, and I realized what he's doing.

00;14;10;06 - 00;14;32;01
Caleb Cole
I'm, It was funny, though. Two weeks ago, I actually, I was getting ready, and I. I don't know why. I just took a little longer, and I come out of the house and she's sitting in the driver's seat waiting on me, and I got in. It felt so weird because I got in the passenger seat, and it was the first time in 18 years she's ever been in the car waiting on me.

00;14;32;04 - 00;14;53;11
Caleb Cole
And I was like, okay, I'm ready to go. And then I was chauffeur, so it was great. I was like, is this what you experience? This is kind of nice. You know? I'm usually in there like sometime today. So it's all good, though. This morning I was waiting, so I just left. We have two cars. Praise God I got here before.

00;14;53;13 - 00;15;14;25
Caleb Cole
But but I do think that waiting is a difficult thing in today's culture, isn't it? We're just not used to waiting on anything. It's right now it's at our fingertips when we want it, how we want it. But we also see what the disciples did and what Jesus called them to, and that was that. They actually enjoyed the encounter they had with God.

00;15;14;27 - 00;15;33;21
Caleb Cole
We're talking about a heart filling. You see, when we talk about the presence, presence is our priority here. I want us to get to this place in space where we actually learn to enjoy his presence. I think we got too many professional Christians. You're like, Caleb, I really do this. I've been doing this since I was a kid.

00;15;33;21 - 00;15;52;00
Caleb Cole
You know, I know the church thing. We got too many professional Christians that just do it out of duty. It becomes this beautiful relationship with God. We're just checking boxes off a list and going through the motions. No, no. I want to come into the house of God and enjoy his presence. I want to enjoy the encounter of His spirit.

00;15;52;02 - 00;16;08;09
Caleb Cole
I want to enjoy my time with him when I'm in the word and when I'm when I'm at home listening to worship, and when I'm in prayer and when I'm in the prayer rooms, I want to enjoy the encounter. That's how our relationship with God should be like. Could you imagine if Christina in our relationship was nothing but duty?

00;16;08;11 - 00;16;30;01
Caleb Cole
Like, okay, like so Christy does do all the cooking in our house and and so she's like, I cook, you take care of this in this in the house. And outside, you know, you do the lawn and all those kind of things. And if that was all our relationship was, was just us fulfilling our duties to one another, that wouldn't be much of a relationship, but we actually enjoy one another.

00;16;30;03 - 00;16;53;15
Caleb Cole
We laugh together. We do fun activities together, right? We talk about deep things and light things and fun things and and we converse. And our relationship is something that was meant to be enjoyed, not just a dutiful fulfill your role, husband, wife. No. And that's what God wants with us. He wants us to be in relationship with him.

00;16;53;15 - 00;17;21;10
Caleb Cole
We're actually enjoying his presence. We're enjoying the encounter with him. We're enjoying experiencing his spirit. And when we get more of him, it's an enjoyment that that happens in our hearts. You see the world, they've tried to fill the hole in their life, in their hearts. I've seen this time and time again with all these things that are enjoyable for a moment, but the next day they're full of regret.

00;17;21;13 - 00;17;45;08
Caleb Cole
So they turn up on a Friday night or Saturday night, like maybe some of y'all did last night. But then Sunday morning they regret it. Monday. They're saying, why is this how I'm living my life? You know, I've never heard someone that came to church experience the presence of God, had an encounter with him and went home. And the next morning they woke up like, man, why did I regret going to church?

00;17;45;10 - 00;18;04;19
Caleb Cole
I regret God meeting me and touching my heart. I never heard anybody say that. You see, he wants us to have an enjoyment in his presence and enjoyment in our encounters with him. But it can't just be here on Sundays. You have to encounter him Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday in the word and prayer and worship on your own.

00;18;04;21 - 00;18;22;14
Caleb Cole
What I love is what God is doing with the next generation. You see, for a long time we were worried about the next generation. We were like, man, this next generation, they're cooked right. That's all my kids say. We're actually on YouTube right now live. So like chat. They're not cooked. Okay.

00;18;22;16 - 00;18;47;02
Caleb Cole
Gen Z that's right. We can talk to the chat a project church. Come on. Gen Z research is showing us. In fact, at the end of the year, it just came out. Gen Z is attending church more regularly than any other generation right now. Gen Z is in church more than millennials, more than boomers. Gen Z is in church more consistently than any other generation.

00;18;47;02 - 00;19;12;26
Caleb Cole
Why? Because God is doing something, and what they're encountering is something real. They want something real. And I'm here to tell you the presence of God is real. He hit, his spirit is real, and the next generation is hungry. A recent study just just came out that nearly two thirds of Gen Z, 64%, report that they're praying to God every single week.

00;19;12;28 - 00;19;40;11
Caleb Cole
Think about that, Gen Z. 64% of them are talking to God every single week. Why? Because they want an encounter and they're enjoying that encounter. Our God. He doesn't just want to be obeyed. He actually wants to be enjoyed. But unfortunately, our perspective on him has been so off. It hasn't been relationship. It's been religion. It hasn't been devotion.

00;19;40;11 - 00;19;54;09
Caleb Cole
It's been duty. And God wants us committed to relationship, him deep intimate relationship. That presence would truly be our priority. You know, Christie and I, we done these Vision Sundays every year for 13 years.

00;19;54;11 - 00;20;19;26
Caleb Cole
And this is the weirdest Vision Sunday we've ever done. And what do I mean by that? For 13 years, Vision Sunday was like church. Here's all the great things we're going to do this year. We're going to do this initiative and launch this ministry and and do this thing in the city. And, and this year, God was like, actually, just tell them you're going to pray.

00;20;19;29 - 00;20;38;15
Caleb Cole
What's the vision prayer. No, no, but what are you going to do? We're going to pray. We're going to seek God's face, and then we're going to see what he directs us to do out of that. So God gave us something unique this year. So we're declaring our church fresh when his spirit, his presence. How do we encounter that?

00;20;38;15 - 00;20;55;21
Caleb Cole
Through prayer, Jesus said, my house will be called a house of prayer. That's what we want this to be. It's not about all the great things we do, and we're going to do some great things in the city. We do have things lined up and planned, right. We're still serving the community. We're still doing for Sacramento Outreach projects.

00;20;55;27 - 00;21;35;21
Caleb Cole
Every second Saturday we got more planned than ever for our church. But that's not the vision. The vision is knowing Jesus more intimately, becoming more like him through presence and connection and prayer. We want you to enjoy his presence. Acts 242. He devoted themselves, the apostles, teaching the word, the fellowship. Right? We got to be in relationships. The breaking of bread, being in homes with one another, actually being in each other's lives in prayer.

00;21;35;24 - 00;22;02;20
Caleb Cole
It's worked for 4000, 2000 years for things that the early church committed themselves to, that caused the church to grow so rapidly. It's spread across the entire globe in one generation. Can we continue to live this out? Every encounter we have is an opportunity to be shaped by God. He wants to shape your heart.

00;22;02;22 - 00;22;24;15
Caleb Cole
He wants to shape who you are. So we have to be a people to say, I'm enjoying his presence. My wife and I, you know, we three years ago, we decided, hey, the church. We got to establish prayer as a consistent model that we do as staff. And then we're going to open up to the church noon prayer rooms.

00;22;24;18 - 00;22;43;18
Caleb Cole
So we start with just a noon prayer room on Wednesdays. And, is there I if I'm honest up here, I always am. But yeah, I did not enjoy the prayer rooms because I've been a word guy. Right? I went to Bible college. I got a master's in theology. Like I love the word study. The word right about the word right.

00;22;43;20 - 00;23;03;10
Caleb Cole
Preach the word. But prayer has always been something like, yeah, I do it with God on my own, but like, tearing for an hour like that was not something that I was comfortable with. So for the first few months, I came in to the prayer rooms and I'm like five minutes in, like, God, I got things to do.

00;23;03;12 - 00;23;17;03
Caleb Cole
Like, for real, this is what's going through my head. I got too much to do to sit in here for an hour. I got task, I got accomplished, I'm trying to build the church. God, like the staff can say, hey, I probably should get.

00;23;17;06 - 00;23;27;05
Caleb Cole
But then I kept going and I found myself being bored in the prayer rooms. And then God said, good.

00;23;27;07 - 00;23;57;24
Caleb Cole
And what happened was, even in the boredom of the prayer rooms, of running out of things to pray and just dwelling and stopping and pausing and slowing down, this enjoyment started to enter into my heart, to where I couldn't wait every week to be in the prayer room from noon to one, because I knew in that hour of even at times boredom and not knowing what to say, the presence of God was filling my heart in my life and I was leaving with more direction and more passion and more purpose and more love and more joy.

00;23;57;24 - 00;24;22;25
Caleb Cole
I was leaving, filled up, and all the times of me working in it and accomplishing and building on my own strength, I realized, was pride. You see, a pastor who doesn't pray is a prideful pastor, a Christian who does everything in their own strength but doesn't stop to spend time with God, is a prideful Christian because we can't do anything apart from him.

00;24;22;27 - 00;24;39;12
Caleb Cole
We can't do anything apart from his presence, and you cannot do anything in your own power. You can't do some things, but I'll tell you right now they'll be empty. But when you're doing it from the place of enjoyment of his presence, something powerful flows out of this.

00;24;39;14 - 00;25;06;20
Chrissy Cole
And listen, fresh wind. When we wait for it, we experience it and enjoy it. Fresh wind also sends us, you know, the disciples didn't just stay in the upper room. They experienced him. They encountered him. But then the fresh wind sends a heart that is more aligned with God's heart. He sends where you, wherever God's heart is hurting.

00;25;06;22 - 00;25;32;06
Chrissy Cole
What can happen is once we've prayed, once we've maybe even received some revelation, we've received some instruction. We're like, all right, I'm going, but I'm going where I want to go, because this feels more spiritual. That's prideful. The point of waiting on God in the presence, in his presence is to be filled with him. And when we're filled with him, that our heart is aligned to his heart.

00;25;32;09 - 00;25;54;06
Chrissy Cole
But I've seen it happen time and time again. Where we are not used to waiting, we are not used to asking, and we're used to just going in our own strength. We're used to going where we feel passionate about and it's like, where is God's heart passionate about? Where does he want you to go? It's wherever his heart is stirred.

00;25;54;08 - 00;26;15;04
Chrissy Cole
When we get used to waiting, when we get used to enjoying his encounter, our heart becomes aligned with his heart and it fills us to the point that we can finally take a step. What I wouldn't want the prayer rooms to be is I wouldn't want them to become a place where you stay, because the Scripture still stands.

00;26;15;08 - 00;26;36;15
Chrissy Cole
That faith without works is dead. So the presence of God, the fresh wind which causes movement, will move you somewhere, will push you somewhere. We'll send you somewhere. Our hearts should all be said. Listen, I'm praying that even on Thursday nights, that's going to be one of the nights that we pray for our missions projects and for our inner setting for this world.

00;26;36;15 - 00;26;55;15
Chrissy Cole
I believe that some of you are going to come into a prayer room, and you came to maybe even pray about a problem, but you're hidden here on a Thursday night and you're like, oh my gosh, my heart is breaking for Japan. My heart is breaking for the Philippines. My heart is breaking for Africa. The Lord wants you to be broken for the things that break his heart.

00;26;55;22 - 00;27;04;27
Chrissy Cole
And some of us are so, so focused on what breaks our hearts and our hearts being mended. That we forget about God's hearts.

00;27;04;29 - 00;27;12;28
Chrissy Cole
God wants to speak to some of us something new and afresh, and it's not going to be self-centered.

00;27;13;01 - 00;27;41;12
Chrissy Cole
Alignment has to take place, I think, in Pentecostal charismatic settings, we're used to shouting at God and yelling at God because we feel more spiritual when we're doing something. And listen, I'm a shouter. I'm a yeller. And then there's also moments where he says, wait, what? What are you? The shouting is not praise, it's the shouting that's demanding God for answers, demanding God for a preferred outcome, demanding.

00;27;41;12 - 00;27;55;09
Chrissy Cole
We just feel more spiritual because we ask for the right things. We're doing too much talking. I rather the shouts of praise, the shouts of adoration instead of the demanding God to do it.

00;27;55;12 - 00;28;00;16
Chrissy Cole
Oh, because sometimes I think we're just asking for what we want.

00;28;00;19 - 00;28;17;13
Chrissy Cole
Once you're filled with the presence of God, there can be a level of waiting that ends. But don't let your waiting become disobedience and never take a step of faith.

00;28;17;16 - 00;28;49;24
Chrissy Cole
When we said that God is able to turn a heart of stone into a heart of flesh, he wants us to feel him. He wants us to know him. Prayer is an invitation for us to be intimate with him and to know what we're supposed to do for him. And I think some of us are like. We've become too comfortable with a purpose that we can dream up, but God wants to exceed some of our expectations.

00;28;49;24 - 00;29;10;06
Chrissy Cole
He wants to fill our hearts and our minds with things that we may never have thought of, because it's on his heart and some of us are limiting ourselves. And some of you are still pursuing things, but feel purposeless because you have not yet asked the Lord what he wants you to do. And what I believe he's going to do is I fill some of you up with some new dreams.

00;29;10;06 - 00;29;27;05
Chrissy Cole
You're going to go to sleep, you're going to have new dreams. You're gonna have new ideas. You have new strategies. Your praise is going to sound different. Your worship is going to be different. Your appetites are coming to the house of God is going to be different. Your appetite to read the word will become different. But we have to encounter him first.

00;29;27;07 - 00;29;54;28
Chrissy Cole
He wants to fulfill you so you can fulfill the mission he has on this kingdom, on this church to build his kingdom. And that's kind of what we're change. Remember, the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Spirit of God and joy. His presence. Walk in righteousness, come into the prayer room and be consecrated. And let me tell you this, sometimes you might be thinking, okay, prayer room.

00;29;54;28 - 00;30;16;02
Chrissy Cole
It's just me, God, and all this individual stuff. And and you're like, I could do that in my home. Well, Tara, the reason why we're doing it here is so that you can come and join others who are praying. Some of us have made prayer, and our prayer life is such an individual thing. And when I see people who have made prayer with God and individual thing that I actually see a lot of pride and it's like, well, I'm over here.

00;30;16;02 - 00;30;35;10
Chrissy Cole
I know what I've been praying for, but you know what? The people who are actually praying are the people who can pray in the same room with other people. I'm not saying that you are confident being on the mic and praying, but when you gather with other believers something, it happens in each of us. He in prayer, he he unites the people.

00;30;35;12 - 00;30;56;26
Chrissy Cole
And so man, this last year, Caleb and I probably one of the most consistent thing we've done with brotherhood and sisterhood is we've prayed every Tuesday morning. And I think what has challenged me is not that I'm praying as a pastor with all these women, they're all praying. They're all praying prayers of adoration. They're all confessing their sin to one another there.

00;30;56;26 - 00;31;23;19
Chrissy Cole
And then the confession turns right into prayer to God. And then there's thanksgiving. We're openly thanking God in front of other people. And I'm not saying we're going to hold hands while we're in the parents, but I just want you to know, don't, don't don't forget that it's also a communal thing. God wants to build you up, not just you and him, but you can't do a prayer life without the body of Christ.

00;31;23;21 - 00;31;27;03
Chrissy Cole
You need the body of Christ to. Amen.

00;31;27;06 - 00;31;47;14
Caleb Cole
So last week I went to a a training. It was actually corporate training. I've always been in the church world, you know, as a pastor this has been my full time job. But I went to this corporate training. There were 30 other guys, and pretty quickly the guys started to realize what I did. They're like, oh, wait, you're a pastor?

00;31;47;16 - 00;32;07;11
Caleb Cole
And that led to some conversations and questions. But one guy specifically, he came up to me the second day. He said, you're a pastor. I'm an agnostic. I said, I got some questions for you. Begin to pepper me with questions. And so I did my best. You know, I'm responding to him. I'm listening to him. I'm answering his questions.

00;32;07;11 - 00;32;24;29
Caleb Cole
And then at the end of our conversation, I said, man, I love the way you think. I just love that you're having these deep conversations and asking these deep questions. And he was kind of like, wait, what? He thought we were in a fight? And I'm like, complimenting him. You know, he's like, okay, well, I'm gonna have more questions for you as this week goes on.

00;32;24;29 - 00;32;28;29
Caleb Cole
I was like, come on, bro, let's talk about it.

00;32;29;02 - 00;33;07;20
Caleb Cole
And I'll tell you that to say that my heart in that moment was soft. Three years ago, before God called us to lead this church as people of prayer, I don't think I would have responded the same way. I'd have been like, let's fight, bro. Like, let's go. I gotta square up. Like, come on, or I'll, I'ma put him in his place right out of led from a position of maybe pride, but with the prayer room and commitment to it has done is it's soften my heart.

00;33;07;23 - 00;33;30;06
Caleb Cole
It's it's it's lowered me in perspective of who God's calling me to be and shown me what a man of God really looks like. And so what I saw in that moment was someone who was asking hard questions, because something in him was hurting you. So the week goes on. Every day he's he's peppering me with questions. And every time I'd end it with Matt.

00;33;30;06 - 00;33;50;19
Caleb Cole
I love the way you're thinking such great questions. Like, I'm really enjoying having these conversations with you. And I watched him soften to me as the week went on. So the last day we're in line for the buffet at the Marriott, he comes up to me. I got one more question for you today. We're about to head to the airport.

00;33;50;26 - 00;34;12;19
Caleb Cole
I got one more question for you, Caleb. He says, why did Jesus on the cross say, father, forgive them, for they know not what they do, and he launches into the explanation of it. He's like, listen, Caleb, I know it. They nailed him to that cross. They betrayed him. They beat him. They whipped him with the Cat of nine tails.

00;34;12;26 - 00;34;33;22
Caleb Cole
They put a crown of thorns on his head and he's going through the list. He's like and. And yet Jesus on the cross says, father. He prays for them. Forgive them, for they know not what they do. Why would he say that? And so I've never been asked that question, to be honest. And so I didn't know how to respond.

00;34;33;22 - 00;34;54;07
Caleb Cole
I just start talking. You ever just start talking? You don't know what you're about to say. I just start talking. I'm like, well, brother, like, let's jump into this. You know, like, you know, thinking about the significance theologically and practically. I'm just like throwing in terms while I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to say. But but no, as I said, Holy Spirit, I need you to tell me what to say to him in this moment because I didn't know what to say.

00;34;54;09 - 00;35;19;19
Caleb Cole
And I just start talking. And then out of me comes this revelation from the Lord that I'd never seen before and never thought before. The Lord speaks through me. And I said the reason he prayed that was because they really thought that what they were doing was the right thing. I said they were defending their Jewish faith. They did not believe he was the Messiah.

00;35;19;21 - 00;35;47;09
Caleb Cole
They did not think he was who he said he was. So they thought they were doing the right thing. And I said this. If I said they had all the head knowledge, but it had never gone to their hearts. And he began to weep in front of me. He's crying in line at the Marriott. And and I looked at him and I got closer to him and he said, Caleb, I grew up in the church.

00;35;47;09 - 00;36;10;03
Caleb Cole
He told me that. He said, it's always been all up here. And I said, and I touched him for the first time. I said, but it's gotta get here. And then I said, can I pray for you? I laid hands on him. I prayed over him. I didn't lead him to Jesus in that moment. But I finished praying for him and I said, bro, you are closer than you think you are.

00;36;10;05 - 00;36;36;09
Caleb Cole
God is speaking to you. These questions are because he's pursuing you, and I want you to know that he sees you. And here's my number. You got my number. If you ever need anything right, reach out. Why do I tell you that story? Not to say okay. Wow. Caleb really knew what to say. No. It's to say that the presence of God and commitment to prayer has made me more connected to His Spirit than I've ever been to.

00;36;36;09 - 00;37;03;14
Caleb Cole
Where? When I don't know what to say, he gives me the words to say when I don't know how to work, how to react. He shows me how to react when I normally would be hard and prideful and standoffish and combative. He softens me with love and patience and hope, and that's what flows out of me. So that's why we've declared fresh wind over our church for 2026, because the Lord wants the Spirit of God filling you up, his presence filling you up.

00;37;03;17 - 00;37;24;00
Caleb Cole
So everywhere you go, it pours out of you. Isn't flesh but spirit, his spirit, his power, his authority. This is what God has for us. So with head, butt, heads bowed, eyes closed in this room, I do want to invite you out before I invite you forward. We left some time on purpose and we've done this in every service.

00;37;24;00 - 00;37;39;13
Caleb Cole
But we want to pray for a fresh and filling of the Spirit of God over your life. To end this service, we're going to invite you forward. But before we do that, I think there's some people in this room who don't know God. You've been running from God. You've turned your back on God. Maybe you've never invited Jesus to be the Lord of your life.

00;37;39;20 - 00;37;50;27
Caleb Cole
You did at one time, but you've been living for the world or for yourself. But right now you say, Caleb, I need to surrender my life. Surrender my heart to Jesus for the first time. I need to recommit myself a new and a fresh. If that's you, would you just raise your hand right now? Just say, that's me, Caleb.

00;37;50;29 - 00;38;19;11
Caleb Cole
Shoot up just so I can see it will click. Yeah. 12345678. I see those hands. Thank you. Nine. You can put them down. Pray this prayer with me. Church. Everyone in here. Repeat after me. Say Jesus, thank you for dying for me today. I confess that you are my Savior. You are my Lord. Today I decide to follow you.

00;38;19;13 - 00;38;43;19
Caleb Cole
Thank you for chasing me, loving me amidst my failures, amidst my mistakes. Jesus, I commit to serve. You saw that I am. Amen. Amen. Come on, let's give God a shout of praise for all these people. Response. Would you stand your feet with us?
