Pastor Fredo Ramos:

As we continue our daily Psalms. Today, we come to Psalm 114. The Psalmist writes, praise the Lord. When the Israelites escaped from Egypt, when the family of Jacob left that foreign land, the land of Judah became God's sanctuary and Israel became his kingdom. The Red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

What a picture. The water of the Jordan River turned away. The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. Verse five, what's wrong, Red Sea, that you made hurry out of their way? What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Why mountains did you skip like rams? Why hills like lambs? Tremble, o earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob. He turned the rock into a pool of water. Yes, a spring of water flowed from solid rock.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Psalm one four one fourteen is a prayer that stirs our imagination as we remember God's salvation for his people Israel. We're reminded here that the Red Sea parted, the mountain skipped, right? And the earth literally was shaking in the very presence of God as he delivered his people. This is a Psalm that helps us today, no matter how we're feeling to locate the power of God's presence in our lives. Let me say that again, to locate the power of God's presence in our lives.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

The salvation of Israel when they were set free from Egypt and walked through the Red Sea is a reminder of what God can do as we surrender to his presence. One day in the future, we will once again see the earth shake and rattle as God claims to take what is his, what is rightfully his, and he's seated on the throne when heaven comes to earth. And now in this present moment, in the midst of our day, as we await that great day when heaven comes to earth, we can remember to pray as Jesus did, Lord, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. And to locate ourselves needing the presence of God in our lives, needing the power of his presence to come and to shake us up. Maybe there's parts of you that need to spiritually wake wake up today.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Maybe there's parts of you that feel numb. Maybe there's parts of you that are blind to how God's at work. And so allow this Psalm to be a reminder that the power of his presence is not to be easily overlooked, not to be forgotten. The earth shakes at the presence of God. And so what will we do today?

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

Jesus, we hear you now inviting us to respond with a sense of adoration and an awe inspiring fear that in the presence of God, things get out of the way. The earth shakes. And so in your presence now, today, whenever we come across this Psalm, would you shake us up? Would you rattle our hearts and our souls so that we are stirred and moved by you? Move to continue to follow you and ready to see how you will deliver us today.

Pastor Fredo Ramos:

We surrender to your power. We give ourselves to your presence. And now would you meet us here in your love. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.
