A faith-forward podcast for people who love Jesus but also love being honest about how weird and wonderful life can be. Hosts Kerrye and Jill tell stories about the Bible, talk about their faith, and dig into what it looks like to follow God through the ordinary chaos of everyday, imperfect life. Real conversations. Real stories. No pretending to have it all together. Pull up a chair, turn the page, and let's go.
Welcome to Chapter and Verse, where people
tell real stories about faith, failure,
redemption, and those "Lord, I'm gonna
need you to explain this one" moments.
Some stories are inspiring, some
are messy, some are miraculous,
and some probably should have
come with a warning label.
But through every chapter of
every story, God has a plan.
And he's never been
afraid of a little chaos.
We're Jill.
And Kerrye.
Let's turn the page
All right.
Well, we're here with our good
friend Lisbeth Lopez, and we're
so excited that you are meeting
us today and doing our podcast.
Listen, I'm so excited about this.
Well, I'm glad you guys are excited.
I'm a little nervous, but I'm excited too.
You don't have to be.
It's just chatting with your buddies.
We do this all the time.
And I'll just say everybody
who knows Lisbeth knows that
she gives the best hugs ever.
And she smells incredible.
Yes.
Not always.
When we see you.
Yes.
But yeah, if you've not, especially
you ladies- Go get a hug from Lisbeth.
You will not regret it.
Nope.
You know, I'm not known to be a
hugger, but I always want one.
Really, she's not.
Kerrye is typically- Oh,
no … a hands-off kinda girl.
I used to, just sidebar, I used to
kind of chuckle because as a children's
pastor, the kids want to hug you.
I don't mind hugs from kids.
And, but even still she would be
like, "Okay, but I have my bubble."
Well, you know, like
once we give a hug, okay.
Yep, she's done.
She's like, "Okay."
I'm good.
I have my quota.
But if they need it, of course.
Yeah.
But- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
For sure.
But- Do the kids talk about your hugs?
No, I don't think they do.
Oh.
Honestly, I don't think I give them hugs.
Well, if you did- They think they get
hugs from me … it probably wouldn't
be like how great it is with you.
It's just such a good squeeze.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You can't, you can't
hurt kids, but you know.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't think about it.
Like, I know a lot of
people don't like hugs.
Oh.
And I don't even really think about it.
I just do it.
Yeah.
Have you done that your whole life?
I think so.
I want to say I, I have.
I just- It's a spiritual gift.
It is.
Love it.
Yeah.
I'm not trying to take that lightly,
but- It's like how God would, it's
how God would hug you, I feel like.
I feel like you do the Disney thing where
like, you know, 'cause like the Disney
characters are told like you can't- Let
go … you can't be the one to end the
hug, and I feel like you do that too.
Maybe not intentionally, but it
feels like you are ready to like
just hold on as long as you need it.
Yeah.
I, I never noticed that.
Yeah.
Sure.
Yeah.
But I like it.
Well, what chapter are
you sharing with us today?
So I guess the chapter that I'm
gonna be sharing today is gonna
be, uh, me coming to the US.
Yay.
And- I love this
chapter … just the whole path.
I have not heard this.
Kerry has had a preview-
Yeah … in Called to Serve, right?
So good.
Yes, in our Called to Serve.
Yeah.
Yep.
So I'm excited.
Yeah.
I heard it's real good.
It is.
It's, it's, it's, it's, it's a story.
Yeah.
To say the least.
You know, it was a…
It's a long path to get
to where we are today.
Mm-hmm.
And I always kinda get emotional
about it, so I'm sorry.
That's all right.
We got Kleenex.
We have tissues, yeah.
I know.
This time you do.
Yes.
Yep.
Yeah.
So, you know, um, well,
where, where can I start?
It started, you know, I was, um…
It was in Mexico.
I'm from Mexico originally.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
So, um, I was eight years old.
My sister was five years old.
Mm-hmm.
Um, she was gonna turn six
before, but she wasn't six yet.
Yeah.
So, um, my parents were already
here in the US, and they…
When my mom came, she was like,
"We're just gonna be here for a year."
You know, our situation
in Mexico wasn't the best.
We were living in Mexico City.
So it wasn't the best, so they're
like, "We're gonna come here.
We're gonna work.
We're gonna save money.
We're gonna go back."
Mm-hmm.
You know?
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
And a year went by.
During that year, we stayed
with my grandma, my mom's mom.
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
We stayed with her that
whole year, my sister and I.
And, uh, my mom was like,
"Hey, it's been a year.
We're not going back.
I want my kids here."
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
You know, so they sent for us to
come to the US, and so we didn't come
necessarily the legal way, you know?
Okay.
Um, it was- Mm-hmm … me and my sister,
again- Mm-hmm … eight years old.
She was five, gonna be six.
So we get to the border.
Mm-hmm.
And it's just us two and this guy.
So who got you to the border?
Uh, it was a friend of the family-
Okay … which was kinda like an uncle.
He wasn't really like
our uncle through blood.
Close friend.
But he was- Yes … you know, an uncle.
And so he brought us there, and he
was like, "Hey, you know, I'm gonna
hand you guys over to this guy,
but, you know, you guys are gonna
be with your parents before long."
Yeah.
And so I was terrified and scared.
Oh.
So with my little sister, you know,
but I had to be the brave one.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I had to be like, "We got this."
She's your older sister, yeah.
"We're gonna be okay."
And so I don't remember a lot of it.
I don't remember- You were a kid, yeah.
Yeah.
I was asking my sister just
in preparation for this.
Yeah.
I was like, "Do you…
What do you remember?"
And she's like, "Well, I remember
walking to where we got to the river."
I mean, I don't remember the walk.
I just remember where we got to the river.
At that point, my sister
was not feeling well.
Oh, no.
She was scared.
She was crying.
She didn't wanna get in the water,
'cause we had to get, like, in this tube.
Like an inner tube?
Like an inner tube.
Oh.
It was like an inner tube.
So it wasn't even like a boat or anything?
No, no.
It wasn't even like- So, okay.
Did she have, like, I think you said
when you shared, did she have a fever?
Is that- Yes.
She had, she had, she was running a fever.
And so- Oh, I'm sorry … I didn't
remember this part of it, but the guy told
us, "You gotta take all your clothes off.
Just your underwear on.
That's it."
Yeah.
Why?
I don't, I didn't remember
that either, but she did, and
so she shared that with me.
She's like, "Hey, you
gotta take it all off."
But, so we could, I guess, cross
the river in our clothes as dry-
Right, right … at the other end.
It makes sense.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
You know?
Yeah.
That's what I'm assuming.
I get it.
I don't remember that part of it.
Okay.
Um, but she was…
She didn't wanna cross.
She didn't wanna get in the tube.
She was scared.
She was like, "I don't want to.
I don't want to."
And she was crying.
And the guy was getting
super impat- impatient.
You know, he was like- Yeah … "We
gotta, we gotta get moving."
Well, yeah, 'cause it's dangerous.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's like, "We, we gotta get moving."
And he's like, "If you guys
don't get moving, we're gonna
have to, like, go back."
Yeah.
Oh.
And I was like…
I, I talked to my sister.
I was like, "Hey, I promise you
everything's gonna be all right.
We're gonna see our parents
once we're on the other side.
We're gonna see them,
and we're gonna be great.
We're gonna be there."
And so finally I convinced her.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
And so we get in there, you know,
and we get to across- And does he
just leave you, or is he with you?
He's with us as we're crossing.
Okay.
Okay.
You know?
Got it.
And we get to, like, this
little mobile home- Okay
where there's other kids there-
Right … that need to move forward,
you know- Yeah … and all that stuff.
And, um, they make us change clothes,
you know, to American clothes.
Right.
You know?
And, um- We have to go through,
like, a second checkpoint, and my
sister's running, like, a fever.
Oh.
And the ladies are like, "Hey,
you need to tell her to be quiet.
She can't be saying anything.
You guys don't speak.
You guys don't say anything."
You know, and I was like, "Okay, okay."
You know?
And so I was telling my
sister, I was like, "Hey, you
gotta be, you gotta be quiet.
You'll be fine, b- see her soon.
Just, just hang on a little
bit longer," you know?
And, uh, until we finally
got to wherever we went.
I wanna say it was Dallas- Mm.
… where we went to.
Oh, wow.
But I'm not 100% sure.
Okay.
I can't remember.
I don't know where and- Yeah … I didn't
even ask my parents or anything like that.
Yeah.
And so we got there, you know?
And, um, I could…
Uh, my dad called, I guess, and they
were like, "Yeah, they're here."
And they came to pick us up and
brought us home to them- Mm-hmm
in Danville, Arkansas.
Oh.
I think that's it.
Danville?
Yes.
Wow.
So that whole process, how long
did that take, like, from the…
Do you even know?
I don't even know.
I don't remember.
Do you remember spending
the night in there?
I wanna say we did.
Okay.
I wanna say we spent a night in
Dallas, if that's where we were.
Mm.
We spent a night there.
So I wanna say maybe two days-
Yeah … two, three days total.
How nervous was your, was your mom?
Like, I can't even imagine- I
mean- … like, "They're on their way."
Um, you know, like- Yeah.
Oh- I would've been so nervous.
She was, she was very nervous.
She was…
She couldn't sleep.
You know, she was just…
'Cause you don't know what's gonna happen.
Right.
I mean, it could've went- Exactly.
It could've gone all kinds of sideways.
Yes.
I mean, we could've been
kidnapped, trafficked.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
A lot of things could've happened,
'cause it was just us two and him.
Yeah.
You know?
And I'm just so thankful.
You know, I, I think back and always
I'm like, man, you know, the Lord has
always, always, always been there for me.
Of course.
And for us, you know?
Yeah.
He saw, like, through the whole
way, 'cause I just think of,
like, it could've went south.
So bad.
Yeah.
And quick, you know?
Yeah.
He was watching you.
And He was definitely watching,
which brings me to the, you know,
the Lord has a purpose for all of us.
Mm-hmm.
You know- Yeah … we don't know
it at the moment, but He had
a purpose for me to be here.
Yeah.
Yes.
And, and that's why, you know, I've been
here through the whole time, you know?
Yes.
And even before that, I had to
share with Kerrye that when I was…
I, I had to, I had to look it up,
'cause I was asking my mom about it.
Um-
At the age of three Oh yeah, I remember
you telling me about that In Mexico City.
Yeah.
You know?
And I looked it up just
to kind of get a, an idea.
You know, it's like 8.2
million people, the population
in Mexico City itself.
So I was, at that time I was like
really attached to my dad, like I
would follow him wherever he went.
Aw.
And my mom said he left to go
somewhere, and I guess the door was
left open and somehow I got out You
were like, "I'm going with Dad."
I'm gonna go find him.
I'ma find Dad.
And she said they were looking
for me about 30 minutes or so.
They couldn't find me, and a
friend of the family saw me, and
he's like, "What are you doing?"
You know, "Where's your mom and dad?"
And I was like, "Well, I'm gonna…
I'm looking for the basketball court.
I'm gonna go see my dad."
And I was close to that place.
And so, you know, my mom was
like, "The moment I saw you,
I was like, 'Thank God.'"
Oh.
You know?
And that- … they found me, you know?
Three years old.
Three years old.
Three years.
Oh, goodness.
Golly wolly.
So again, God has a purpose and a
plan- Yes … for each one of us-
Yeah … 'cause it could've went
the other way there too, you know?
Could've went really bad.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And, uh, so anyway.
So when you saw your parents,
do you remember that moment?
Oh, I remember.
I just ran to them and
like hugged them, you know?
'Cause I hadn't seen my mom in a
year, and my dad, it was probably
two years since I hadn't seen
him, and they had- Oh my goodness
they had a little baby sister that we
were just meeting for the first time too.
Oh.
Oh my goodness.
Yes.
So- Wow … it was, it was
very emotional just to be able
to see them and be with them.
And, you know, as a kid you don't
think of the danger that you
just- Right … went through.
Right.
You know?
And I'm like, "You know, thank you, Lord."
God, yes.
Thank you.
Now that I'm older and I think about
it, you know, I'm like, "You've always
been there since the beginning."
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
You know?
Yeah.
He's had- Wow … His
hand on you since day one.
Yes.
Yeah.
Goodness.
100%.
100%.
I definitely, in that aspect, I do feel
super special and loved, and know that
I might not see Him now, but He does
have a plan and a purpose for my life.
Right.
Yep.
Always.
You know?
Yeah.
Uh, or I wouldn't be here today
if it wasn't- Yeah … for Him.
So then after you got here,
you lived in Danville.
Yes, I did.
And ha- and then what happened,
like, with school and…
And so when we got here, we
were like, that was in '95.
Mm-hmm.
So there was, like, not a
lot of Hispanic people here.
Mm-hmm.
And going to school, I gotta say, they
were really, really amazing with us,
because I remember the principal's
daughter would just, like, sit with
us in a classroom, with me, that I
can remember, and she was like going
there and trying to teach me things.
And, you know, it was difficult because-
Yeah … you didn't have nobody, a
different language, you don't know,
you don't, you can't communicate.
And there was only one little boy that
was in there that could speak Spanish.
And I remember one time, I was like,
"Hey, I need to go to the bathroom."
And he was like- Okay.
He was like, I was like, "Can
you tell the teacher that I
need to go to the bathroom?"
And he was like, "No."
Boys.
Yes.
Yes.
And so- What a stinker.
Yes.
But, you know, he, he did help
me out throughout the whole time
and- So how did you tell her?
Just like, point like- Yeah, like,
"I gotta go to the bathroom."
And I do remember I did fall
asleep in class a lot of the times.
Well, I imagine it was incredibly boring
because- It, yes … you know, it's
confusing and ridiculous and, and you
can't understand anything that's going on.
Well, just it reminds me just
recently as having a Hispanic
child in our Children's Church, and
Elizabeth thankfully was there, and
didn't he say, "This is boring"?
Yeah, he was.
He's like, um…
I was like…
He's like, "I'm bored."
I'm like, "Oh, you're a little bored?"
And he's like, "No, I'm very bored."
And I was like, "Okay."
I was like, "All right.
Thank you for being honest."
Well- Yeah … but if he doesn't
speak, you know, it's hard, you know?
Yeah.
'Cause the answers are- Oh, yes … so
thankful you were there, especially
the second time, 'cause I feel
like he had a better time- Yes
'cause you sat by him.
Yes, and then not only that, I think some
of the other children, like I mentioned
to you did- Yes … make an attempt, the
little bit- Oh … that they knew- That's
really, really cool … spoke to him.
And so that, he was, like, excited
about that part, 'cause he wasn't the
only one just talking to an adult.
There was- Yeah … another
child trying to talk to him
the little bit that he knew.
Yeah.
You know?
Was that Austin?
Yes, it was Austin.
Shout out to Austin.
Good job.
Oh, my goodness, of course, it was Austin.
Yes, it was him.
Oh, what a sweetie.
So friendly.
Yes.
Um, okay.
So how long did it take you?
And since you didn't have, like…
How…
They have, make a lot more efforts now
in school to help, you know- Be able to,
um- … kids learn English and stuff.
Yeah.
But how long did it take
you till you caught on?
I wanna say probably by fourth grade.
Fourth, fifth grade, I was…
No, I wanna say third and fourth.
Between third and fourth-
Okay … I was like- Basically
I was always curious.
Yeah.
I, I wanted to learn, so I would
always ask, like, "Hey, how
do you say this in English?"
And so they would teach me, and
I was like, "Okay, now I know."
I was- Did your, did your
parents know English?
No.
Okay.
So my dad knows a little bit-
Okay … but not enough to have, like,
a full-blown conversation with you.
Okay.
So, you know, eventually
we became the translators.
Yeah.
That's always been really, um, fascinating
to me, t- like, how quickly the, the
kids can become the translators for the
parents, because I'm like- Well, they
learn quicker … these kids are…
Yeah.
Well, they learn faster, and they're,
it's total submersion at school,
and then at home, they, they don't
have any chance to practice that,
like, usually with their parents.
Plus siblings.
Yeah.
Did you and your sister, like- Talk.
Oh.
Yeah.
Yes.
Listen, if you guys could've
seen Kerrye's face right there.
It's like- She…
There was, like, mischievous- Tell us.
Tell us … like, look
that just came over her.
It was fantastic.
Yes.
You know, you always…
You know, when you didn't
want your parents to know
something, it was in English.
You know?
Yeah.
Did you, like, scheme?
Like- And like- … I'm gonna say
we're gonna do this, and then what
we're really gonna do is whatever.
Can you remember anything specific?
Uh, no, I can't.
I think if anything, it would
be, like, when we were trying
to go out with our friends.
Yeah.
And because we're not
much age difference- Yes
between my- Right Yeah … next
sibling, you know?
And so we would like, "Hey-" We're gonna
save, we're gonna do this, you know.
But I can't think of a
specific- Yeah … thing.
Yeah.
But yeah, it was part of it, you know.
That just lets you know
there were plenty of them.
Yeah.
Plenty of them.
Did your parents ever catch on and be
like, "You need to speak Spanish to us"?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
They would, they were like, "Hey,
you speak Spanish here," you know?
Yeah.
And so- That's funny … we did.
But yeah, it, it is.
It's, uh…
Until they, my dad could kinda
catch on a little more, you know.
Yeah.
Like, "Okay, now we
gotta find another way."
Yeah.
Yes.
That's funny.
Okay, so how, like, what was
your church experience- Okay
once you got here?
Yeah.
So once I got here, um, I was going to
a Catholic church the whole time- Mm-hmm
… you know, and, uh, I was really involved.
Um, I was helping with, I wasn't, like,
necessarily teaching the catechism,
but I was helping- Right … prepare-
Yeah … the kids for catechism.
Mm-hmm.
I was, like, reading the
scriptures from up there, you know.
And I was really, really involved.
And I think I shared with you guys
at one point, I was like, we went
to go tour the convent in Jonesboro.
Mm-hmm.
And I was there- Oh … and
I was like, "Oh, this peace."
Oh.
I'm like, "I wanna be a nun."
I was like, "I wanna be a nun."
'Cause I've always felt like- That
I was gonna do something for God.
Mm-hmm.
I've always felt that, you know?
Yeah.
And so I was like, "This is it."
Yeah.
I'm like, "This is it.
I'm supposed to be a nun."
Mm-hmm.
You know, so I went back and I
was like, "I'm gonna be a nun."
But ob- obviously- Yeah … I didn't.
Yeah.
I wasn't a nun.
You know, uh, my parents would go, but I
was going more than they were, you know?
Yeah.
And then I met this boy, you know?
And he was a Christian guy, and he's
like, "Hey, you're doing things wrong."
Was he that blunt about it?
Yes.
He was like, "You're wrong."
Wow.
"You're, you're worshiping idols.
You're doing this."
And, and I was like, "How dare you?"
Yeah.
"How dare you say that
about me," you know?
And so there's a way to
approach things, you know?
Yeah.
Not that way.
Not that way.
Yeah.
And he was like, "Let me
And he would share videos of this
thing that was talking about, like,
the Catholic Church and all this stuff.
And I was like, "Why are you
sharing this stuff with me?"
"I don't wanna hear about it," you know?
And he's like, "Okay, well,
go to church with me."
And I was like, "Okay, fine, I'll go."
So we went, and his dad was pastor.
Mm-hmm.
And I was like, "Hey, why
is your dad talking to me?
Like, what did you tell him?"
Like, "What is…
Why is he just talking to me?"
And he was like, "He's not talking to you.
It's God talking to you," you know?
And I was like, "He
doesn't know anything."
And I was like, "Okay."
And so I started getting…
You know, the Lord started-
Mm-hmm … pulling me in, and I started-
Yeah … reading my Bible, and I started
seeing things in there that I was
like, "Whoa, I didn't see this before."
This is different, yeah.
This is different.
You know, I was like, "I
didn't see this before."
And so then I started getting
more curious, and I was like,
"Hey, I wanna know more."
Mm-hmm.
I, like, you know, "I wanna learn more.
I wanna, I wanna know
more what's going on."
And so his dad started sharing
with me, like, discipleship.
Mm-hmm.
Like, little lessons for discipleship.
Yeah.
And I started, like, I d- I
started doing the lessons.
And when I would see him, you know, he
would talk to me and all that stuff.
And I did, like, three
or four lessons I think.
Then, you know, the
breakup came and- Yeah.
Yeah … you know, that was
the end of that, you know?
Mm-hmm.
My discipleship ended.
Yeah.
You know, like- What a shame … I had
no one else to kinda, like, lead me- Mm.
Yeah … in direction.
Yeah.
So I did what I knew best to do.
I was like, "I'm gonna read my Bible."
Mm-hmm.
I don't know what I'm doing.
I don't know if I'm praying right.
I know, I, I just know that
that's what I need to do.
Yeah.
And so the Lord started speaking
to me through the Bible, you know.
He started comforting me.
And at that time, you know, the enemy,
when the Lord's pulling you, the
enemy's gonna be, like, right there.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
So my parents, which
I know it wasn't them.
Right.
My sisters, they were all, like, at me.
Mm-hmm.
They're like, "Oh, you're
gonna be a hypocrite."
You know, "You're gonna be one of
those people that are, like, talking
mad one day, and then they're-- it's
Sunday at church, and they're gonna,
like, 'Oh, I'm a little saint now.'"
Mm.
You know?
And so I was like, "No,
it's not like that."
You know, like, how are they gonna say
that they're, they're drinking and they
quit drinking, and they're gossiping-
Mm-hmm … and everything negative that
could've been said about a- Yeah … a
person that's Christian, you know?
Yeah.
And I would always go to my room,
and that was my s- my space.
Mm-hmm.
That was my safe space.
And I would just read, and I was like,
"Lord, just comfort me, help me."
Yeah.
And, you know, He did.
He did, and that was my, I would say,
my first experience of feeling the Lord.
I remember I was on my knees, I was
praying, and I was, like, with my hands
in my bed, and I was just overwhelmed with
everything, you know, that was going on.
Mm-hmm.
And I felt a hand on my back.
Oh, wow.
And I just felt like- Aw … the peace
just took over, and I was like, "Okay.
I'm okay."
Yeah.
"I'm okay."
How old were you at this point?
I was probably about 16, 17 at that point.
And, um, so you know, and a promise
came that day, you know, one of those
days that I was there that, you know,
I believe it was, like, Salvation- is
coming to your home, your house today.
Like whenever- Mm-hmm … it's
Silas and they're, the- Mm-hmm,
yeah … open and he's- Yes, yes.
So I took that one.
My household is gonna be saved.
Yes.
So that is a promise that I have not
let go of, that I know I will see
fulfilled- Yes … in my lifetime.
Yeah.
That I will see, that I know my parents
will be saved, my sisters, my husband.
You know, I know that promise stands.
Yeah.
Because He's, He's faithful.
Yes, He is.
And He's been faithful since the beginning
to now, and- Yeah … He doesn't lie.
No.
Right?
He doesn't lie, so.
That's one of my favorite verses,
where- So I know … God is
not a man that He should lie.
Yes.
Yeah.
And so, you know, that came that, and
that's one of the reasons I do think
that discipleship is important and
following, following up because- Yeah
I was lost.
Like I, I didn't know what to do.
I didn't know anyone.
I couldn't reach anyone to go.
So I did have to lie to
go to church on Sundays.
I was like- That's incredible to me.
So- But like also, I, I don't know.
I don't think that's a- Did they
pr- … lot of- … prefer you to be
Catholic then, and they didn't want
you to- Yes, I guess just because, you
know, that's the way they were raised.
That's the way- Yeah, yeah … you know,
they raised me to- Yeah … you know?
And so a lot of the times that I
did go to church, I did have to lie.
Mm.
I was like, "Hey, I'm gonna go hang out
with my friends and, you know, do this."
Well, they were your friends at church.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so when I would see someone,
'cause everybody knows my
dad, everybody knows my dad.
Mm-hmm.
So I would, I would go, and I would
see somebody that knew my dad, and I
was like, "Oh, they're gonna go tell
him-" "… that I was here," you know?
Yeah.
Or like, not to tell him, but like,
"Hey, we saw your daughter at church."
Yeah, exactly.
"We're happy," you know?
Right, right.
And it wasn't, they weren't that
excited, you know, until after I
got married and they just started
to accepting that, you know- Right
hey, this is- This is what she's
doing, yeah … this is what I'm doing.
And, you know, I- And that's
her husband's problem.
Yes.
And now, you know- Me, I can't
wait to be able to be like, "That's
Brady's problem," or, "That's Chloe's
husband's," or, "That's, you know,
Owen's wife's problem," whatever.
Yeah.
Not mine.
So, you know, until then they
started accepting, uh, you
know, my belief- Mm-hmm, mm-hmm
in, in what I believe
in and what I stand for.
They started respecting that, you know?
Um- Then, you know, I got married.
Yeah.
And, uh, I n- I wanted to go to church.
Mm-hmm.
So at that point, I was … I, I had
already accepted Christ as my Lord
and Savior, but, you know, I walked
away because I had no one, and it was
just like- You have to have a partner.
Yeah.
You have to have somebody encouraging you.
Yeah.
And so I just, you know-
Yeah … started just going by
life and doing- Yeah … nothing.
I got married, and I
wanted to go to church.
Mm-hmm.
Like, I wanted to go to a church,
but I didn't know where to start.
Yeah.
I didn't wanna go by myself.
I didn't know anybody, you know, and I
was like, "I don't know who to go to."
Then my in-laws moved from California
to here, so I was like, "Yes."
Yeah.
"This is my chance."
'Cause I knew they went to church.
Yeah.
Oh, good, good.
Yeah, and so I remember I was sitting in
my kitchen table at our apartment, and
I was like, "Lord, you know, I know that
I haven't been living right, and I know
that I need to reconcile with you, and I
know that I need to get back, you know.
I, I know it, and, and I know
that that's what I need."
And right there at my table, I
reconciled with the Lord, you know.
I was like- Mm … "I'm committed, so
I'm-" God can do that anywhere, people.
Yes.
Yep.
Anywhere, anywhere- Yeah … you know.
And I started going to church with them.
Mm-hmm.
And I was going there, and
that's where I got baptized.
Mm-hmm.
And my mom was like, "You've
already been baptized."
I'm like, "Yes, but this is different."
Yeah.
"It's different, Mom."
You know?
This is my choice.
I'm making the choice, uh,
you know, to be baptized.
And then I s- after there, I
got moved to a different church.
Uh, I started going to a Hispanic church.
Mm-hmm.
And I will say I grew there 'cause I
was like, I had more responsibilities.
I was in charge of helping with
the children- Yeah … in there,
and that was growth for me.
Mm-hmm.
You know, I got to share with the
women there as well, and I got to
do a lot of things until it was
time for me to move again, you know.
Yeah.
And I started going RFA.
Mm-hmm.
You know, and at that
point, I came with hurt.
You know, I was hurt.
I was really hurt.
And so- From church
people … from church people.
Mm-hmm.
I was hurt and, you know- I didn't wanna
be, like, going from one church to the
next, to the next- Right … to the
next- Right … or anything like that.
I wanted to grow my roots.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
And I wanted to serve.
I wanted to be in one spot.
But I knew that I couldn't do
anything until I was healed.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
Yeah.
And the Lord healed me.
That's good.
Healed me there.
That's good.
Like, I, I felt like at
home, like, right away.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
I, I was feeling like I was rejected and
like, you know, like I wasn't good enough.
And I felt like everyone just
kinda welcomed me in without
even really knowing me- Mm-hmm
and not even knowing
what I was going through.
And I remember signing up, like, there
was a sign sheet for, like, who wanted
to help with the children, you know?
Mm-hmm.
And I was like, I walked by it a few
times and I was like, "I'm not ready.
I'm still, I still have hurt."
Yeah.
"I'm not ready."
And then that one time I was like,
"Okay, I'm gonna put my name down."
And nothing happened for, like, I
think a month- Uh-huh … or a month
and a half or two, I can't remember.
Mm-hmm.
And I was like, "It's okay.
It's, it's time.
It, it'll be happening when it happens."
And then I get- Yeah … Kerrye's
text, "Hey, you wanna have…"
And I was like, "Yeah."
Oh, yeah.
You gotta give Kerrye time.
Yeah.
She's not- Yeah … she's not
always Johnny on the spot.
Yeah.
Probably sat on my desk.
That, I'm, I regret that.
But, you know- … maybe, maybe,
I'm trying to reconcile myself here.
Maybe God was waiting, you know- Yeah.
Yeah … for the right time for you.
Yeah.
But, I mean, and you are amazing with
children, and you definitely can see
that you have a call on your life- Yeah
t- with children.
Yeah.
And, like, after, you know, working
with you, you know, I appreciate any
help, any help that I get in ministry.
You're welcome.
Um, yeah.
But, you know, some people
are ministry of helps.
Yes.
And I love that.
Yeah.
Because they will fill in
anywhere they're needed.
But it's rare to find ministry
your heart is children.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
And that's what you have,
I feel like, for, for real.
So, like, you're a blessing to those
kids, and those kids adore you.
Yeah, they do.
Yeah.
I love them too.
I can't tell you, like, how
many times people are like, when
they're moving up to your class,
um, "Who's the teacher in there?"
And text me and I'm like, "It's Lisbeth."
And they're like, "Oh, good."
I mean, you just- Yep … you know.
Good.
I'm glad.
You're always smiling, and
you just look peaceful.
And I know when we minister, it's
not always that the case- Yes.
Yes … in our lives, but we
are doing that for God, so.
Yes.
Yes.
But yeah, kids do really love you,
and kind of are a little bit sometimes
intimidated to leave your class.
Like- Yeah … "Who's next?"
You know?
Like- … and I'll have
parents say, "Now who's
next?"
So we have really good help, so it's good.
But, like, I can tell when they really
love somebody 'cause they want to know-
Yes … who are they g- I mean- Yeah.
Are we gonna be- Lisbeth's way up here.
Who's- Yeah … next?
Is the next one gonna hold the standard?
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No.
But yeah.
I'm definitely blessed to be part
of every one of them, you know,
and I do love each one of them.
They're so special.
So how did you, how did God tell you,
"Hey, I want you to be in the ministry"?
So, you know, I don't know
if, um, exactly a way.
Mm.
You know?
But I just, I just always had
this feeling, you know- Mm
like I … So I wanted to
be a teacher at one point.
Okay.
I was going to school for that.
Yeah.
Uh, there's been a lot of little-
up to share.
So I wanted to become a teacher- Mm-hmm.
Because I love working with kids.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
And so I was going to tech.
At this time, my legal status
wasn't, like, all the way done.
Yeah.
The only thing that I had was
DACA, which is, like, for students,
you know, like a p- permit-
Mm-hmm … work permit for students.
Yeah.
And so they were considering
me out-of-state, so I was
paying out-of-state tuition.
Ugh.
Oh.
Going to tech.
Goodness.
And so, you know, and I w- I
wasn't elig- eligible for any
loans or any kinda aid or anything.
Right.
Yeah.
So, you know, we're married,
and we're paying for school.
You know, I wasn't taking
necessarily full load classes- Mm-hmm
because we couldn't really afford that.
I'm like, how can you if you-
Yeah … are paying out of pocket?
Yes.
Yeah.
And so we were taking them, and
I was done with two semesters.
Two or three.
I was almost done.
I still had, like, a few more classes,
like two semesters left to graduate.
Yeah.
And so we were taking the
Praxis, and I had taken it once.
I failed it.
It's hard.
Took it twice.
It's hard.
I failed it.
Mm-hmm.
The third time I was like…
I was going towards Fort Smith, and I
was driving, and I remember the whole
way there, I was like, "Lord, if it's
your will, let me pass this test."
Mm-hmm.
"If it's not your will, I know
that you have something better.
You have another plan.
You have another path for my life."
And I remember praying the whole
way there, and I was like, "Lord,
Lord, Lord, if this is your will,
please let me pass this test."
Mm-hmm.
'Cause I was always kinda close.
And so I go there, take
the test, get the results.
I passed.
You know?
Oh, nice.
I passed it.
I was like, "Yes."
So a lot of, a lot of our group
didn't pass it, so they kinda- Mm
changed paths.
Yeah.
And they were like, "Hey, we're
changing the whole degree."
We're changing it all.
So if you wanna be able to graduate with
this degree, you're gonna have to take
summer courses, like the two summer terms.
Mm-hmm.
You have to take both summer terms.
Yeah.
So I was- And summer's
more expensive than- Yeah
the rest.
Yeah, and it's packed in there, too.
Yes.
Like, quick.
So I was devastated.
Yeah.
You know, because I'm like,
"I can't afford to do that."
It was gonna be- Yeah … like over
$60,000- Ugh … during the summer.
And so my husband was like, "Liz, we
can make this happen if you want to.
I mean, we'll be in debt,
but we can make it happen."
And I was like, "I can't
do that to our family.
You know, I can't- Yeah … do that to us.
I want it, but I can't do that."
Mm-hmm.
"I can't do it."
And that was a devastating blow
to me 'cause- Yeah … I felt like
I'm going in the right direction
in a way- Yes … you know?
Yeah.
And I was like, "The Lord
okayed it," you know?
And, but I see, it wasn't that, you know?
It was- That's not- … something
different, but- Something different.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
And, and, and I just
love working with kids.
I do have like…
I feel like I d- I'm, it's easy to
be with kids and- Uh-huh … to get
to their level and play with them-
Yeah … you know, and all that stuff.
So- This lets me know that I must
be ministry of helps that you were
talking about earlier, 'cause that
does not resonate with me at all.
I think you, you are ministry,
which is a great thing.
I'm not trying to say that
it's smaller, but- No, no, no.
I, I, I wasn't- Yeah … I
wasn't offended by it.
Okay, good.
Yeah.
But yeah, I mean, there, it's sometimes
God is like, I, I don't understand.
I don't understand His plan.
Sometimes I'm like, "Why-
Yeah … did I have to go through
that if I can't finish right now?"
Yeah.
Yep.
You know?
But you never know.
Yes.
You never know why.
I mean, we see this much- Yes … and
I'm holding my little maybe half
inch- Yeah … um, of a big picture.
Yes.
You know?
Yes.
So.
And, and I do believe that, you know?
I do believe that He, He has a plan, and
I think I've always shared, you know,
He's always been so faithful to me.
Mm.
You know, I, I have my little pity
moments where I'm like- Oh, we all
do … "Why is this happening?"
Yeah.
You know?
And then I, I hear other stories and I'm
like, "Man, why am I being a crybaby?"
You know?
You know, like, the Lord has been
so good to me, so good to me, and
I know, like I mentioned, you know,
like coming here to the US- Mm-hmm
and, you know, finally- Um, you know,
being able to become a US citizen,
that was a big thing- Mm-hmm … for
me- Yeah … 'cause I could see God's
hand in, like, the whole process.
Mm-hmm.
I know, like, I would jump
back now, but, um, I had DACA.
You know, I was able to get advance
parole- Yeah … which that allowed
me to go see my grandmother that I
hadn't seen in, like, so many years.
Like 20- Oh … something years.
Oh, nice.
And, uh, she was sick, and that was
my way to go be able to go see her-
Mm-hmm … uh, since my parents couldn't.
Yeah.
And we got to go see her.
Uh, we came back.
I was able to do adjustment
of status- Mm-hmm … because
I'm married to my husband.
He's a US citizen.
So I'm able to apply for
my green card or residence.
Mm-hmm.
And, um, like it was,
everything was, like, so quick.
Like- Wow … it wasn't even long
after that, you know, bam, you know,
I got approved and then went to
the interview, and we got approved.
And then not even…
I think I was tr- I was going back
through documents that I had in
there, and it was, like, July 2016.
July 15, 2016 is when I got
approved to go to my grandmother.
Yeah.
And then in 2018, I was able to
apply for my green card, and then
in 2021, I passed my written test.
And then in, uh, January 29, 2021,
I passed my written test, and in
February 25, 2021, we had my ceremony.
That is quick.
Like bam, bam, bam, bam.
Yeah.
It was like, you know, back to
back to back to back, and I could
see God's favor through it all.
Yeah.
You know, um, it's a lot of money.
It's- Yeah … it was a lot of money,
and even though it was a lot of money, I
had a lot of people help us financially-
Yeah … throughout the way- Wow.
Good … to bless us and be able to, for
me to get my process done and everything.
And then, I'm, and I'm just
so grateful for everyone that
put that little grain- Mm-hmm.
Yep … you know, that blessing-
Mm-hmm … over my life to be able to be
here, you know, today- Mm-hmm … and,
uh, have legal status, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's awesome.
And be able to do all that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He is so faithful, like,
and He sees every step.
Like, I mean, He's ordered your steps-
Yes … even beyond this, you know.
Like, what's coming, He already
knows, and, and we get ahead
of Him a lot, I feel like.
Yes.
We want this right now, you
know, and I don't think…
It is an American thing,
but it's a human thing.
I want this now.
Like, let's do it.
It's a- Bam.
It's a time of this society as well.
Yeah, it is.
Like instant gratification.
Things are so instant.
Mm-hmm.
You know, but, like, I'm just, I'm
blown away by His faithfulness to us.
You're…
I mean- Oh, yes.
Always.
So, and you have pursued credentials- Yes
with Assembly of God.
Yes.
How has that been?
That is, has been an amazing experience,
um, which I never thought that
would even be in my path, you know?
And like, that's something else
that God has just put there for me.
Yeah.
Um, that I never thought that I was
gonna be able to do that, you know?
And it's not about necessarily the
title or anything like that- Yeah
or being, but just being able to learn and
take all that knowledge in- Mm-hmm … and
just see the Bible in a different way.
Mm-hmm.
You know?
Like, speak to you in a different
way, 'cause like a lot of the times,
like the classes that I, that I was
taking, uh, I know a lot of times
we bring Brother Dean in- Yes.
… into the podcast.
So I would listen to his podcast and I
was like, "Oh, this is exactly what we're
learning in class right now," you know?
And so it was like- Yeah … I,
I was getting knowledge from here
and from here, and I was like…
I told them one day, and I was like, "Hey,
I just want you to know that your podcast
helped, has helped me with my classes, and
I'm able to like see it more clear and see
it in a different way than I would- Yeah
if by myself, you know?"
Yeah.
And he's like, "Okay."
You know?
He's one of our podcast-
He's great … heroes.
He is.
I really, really, really
want him to come on.
I feel intimidated.
I'm gonna be honest.
I feel like that means
we need to have him on.
I'm turning it around because
Kerrye told me that I needed to
take Lorrie's class, and I told
her- You were in Lorrie's class?
We're in Lorrie's class.
You've taken it?
I have not taken it.
Hey, get this time with us.
That's what I was thinking.
I was, actually, I've been praying
about it, and I was like, "Lord, is
this a good time for me to take?"
'Cause I didn't take it the first time.
I told her, I was like, "I don't know.
I feel like it's a little…
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a
little intimidated by it."
And she goes, "I feel like that
means that you need to do it."
'Cause she liked it.
'Cause I was like, "I'll pray about it."
And she was like, "I feel
like you just need to do it."
There you go.
I was like, "Okay."
Yeah.
But- Yeah.
It's called Living Connected for those
who are listening who might wanna take it.
But well, by the time when you hear
this- Yeah … you'll have to wait
till the next time 'cause- You'll
have to wait until the next time.
But that's okay … it'll be too late.
Send it.
That's okay.
But yeah.
Do it next time.
Yes, do it next time.
But, um, so ARSOM is the, the
way that you got your, is,
are getting your credentials.
Yes.
For those who don't know,
it's a way to get credentials
with, with Assembly of God.
And tell us the proc- Like, like, you can
explain like, it used to be different when
I got it, so like tell us what the process
is now, like as far as the classes.
So as far as the classes, you know,
we get, um, we get a study guide.
Mm-hmm.
Like, you know, that we have to answer
questions, and you have the book.
Mm-hmm.
And so you have to read the book in
order to be able to answer the questions.
Yes.
Some- sometimes it's- It's easy.
You're able to find them right away, and
sometimes I'm like, "Where's the answer?"
Some of those books are thick.
Yes.
Yeah.
They are.
They are.
And one of the ones that I
struggled with the most was The
History of the Assemblies of God.
Mm-hmm.
Oh.
Oh, yes.
That one I struggled…
I mean, it was really good.
It's good.
It's good, but it's- It is
really good … it's a lot.
It's a lot.
I struggled with that one a lot.
Mm-hmm.
Um, I was just, like, amazed by, like,
how faith moved everyone at the beginning.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
You know, it was like faith.
They, they did everything by faith.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
And I'm like, "Why can't
we be like that now?"
You know?
Where, like, it's harder
for us to move by faith.
Yes.
Yep.
You know?
I loved that one.
That was an excellent one, but that was
the one that I struggled with the most.
Mm-hmm.
But yeah, you get the book, you
know, you read it, you answer the
questions, you submit, um, your
study guide- Mm-hmm You go to class.
Mm-hmm.
And then, like, the first part of it, you
go over the study guide to make sure you
have the right answers and all that stuff.
Then you take the test.
Mm-hmm.
You get lunch, by the way.
Yeah.
So it's, it's good- Nice.
It's good every time.
Is it fancy?
Yes.
Okay.
It's good every time.
I'm like, "Ooh, this is good."
Yeah.
You know?
And I get to eat from places
that I normally wouldn't eat.
So something like that.
And then- This is in…
Little Rock.
Oh, okay.
In Little Rock.
Little Rock.
Yes, so the district
office in Little Rock.
Oh, okay.
Yes.
And so the second portion
of it is, is like he'll…
The instructor will discuss, like,
the class in more detail, you know?
I feel like that's my favorite part.
Yes, it is.
It is.
Like, this last one that I
went to is really, really good.
Mm-hmm.
It's really good.
You know, discussions, we'll
have group discussions, and then,
um, he'll just go in more detail
over what was in the book- Okay
in a different way.
Like, you know, uh-
Yeah … explain like…
I remember one class, it was like we
were talking about the maps and how
the maps help you understand, like,
a lot of the time that was, like,
the way it was and the wh- why people
moved a certain way and- Mm-hmm.
You know- Gotcha … route
and all that stuff.
Yeah.
So I was like, "Oh, okay."
Mm-hmm.
You know, so it's in a lot more
detail going into what you're learning
from- Yeah … and then- And it's
all done in a day, not- In a day.
I mean, like- Yeah … the class.
The class.
But, like, you prep for almost a month.
Yeah.
And then you go to the class.
But- Yeah.
But when I went, um, you had to
spend the night, and it was at
the campgrounds, in Hot Springs.
I'm not even gonna talk
about the campgrounds.
That's why I was asking where it
was, 'cause I feel like in my head
I thought it was in Hot Springs.
It used to be.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
That explains it.
But this…
I caught the tail when, uh…
I went further than just the first
level, but right as I started quitting
because I had a third child and that
was, you know, my focus, um, it went
to the day thing and I was like, "Why
didn't I do this the whole time?"
Kerrye's over here.
'Cause it's much easier to obtain,
'cause there's three different
levels and you only- Yeah … have
to have the first level, and I
say to marry and bury, you know?
Yeah.
And then, uh, you know, like, you don't
have to go on unless you just want,
uh, you have a goal of being ordained.
Yeah.
And, um, that's just really my goal.
So ARSOM- I started kind of
later, so that's was not my goal.
Yeah.
ARSOM is the Arkansas School of Ministry.
Yes.
Yes.
Right?
Yeah.
Is that s- Is it just specific
to the Assembly of God?
Yes.
Yes.
Okay.
Well, I don't know if any other…
I don't- I don't- I've never heard
of anything- Okay … like that,
but I think- I was just curious
Larry Moore is the one who started it, so.
Really?
Shout out Larry Moore.
Shout out Larry Moore.
Yeah.
I want him on the pod too.
Okay.
Um, yeah.
Well, thank you for explaining
that because I, I know people think
it's not, it's, I mean, it's not
unatta- unobtainable and it doesn't
take long, like a year- A year.
Mm-hmm … to stick with it.
The first level.
It's intimidating to think about
going to ministerial school.
You know what I mean?
How many people are usually
there when you're there?
So this last one was 37.
Okay, good.
But it was like this new, the new
school year started, so- Yes … 37.
Okay.
The other ones, I would say
probably 20, 25, you know, in class.
So that's not too bad.
That's not- No … an overwhelming
amount of people in a class.
No.
Yeah.
Yes.
It's pretty good.
And it's a way to make connections
with- Yeah … other people, you
know, having the same kind of
process you're going through too.
Yeah.
But yeah, I like it.
But- Hmm.
And so, like where does, has God
revealed anything like what He
wants for your future yet or are
you still just walking this out?
I'm, I think I'm still walking it out.
Mm-hmm.
You know, uh, it's been, just here
recently it's been, you know, a little
tricky and I don't know where He's taking
me and, but I know that no matter what
happens, I know that it's His plan.
Mm-hmm.
Um, and that- Whatever he
wants me to do, I'll do.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
It's, it's him.
It's what he wants from me.
Yeah.
I don't wanna do anything
outside of him, you know?
Yeah.
Um- You're surrendering your will.
Yes.
Yeah.
It's not always easy, easy, you know?
And- It's not easy at all, but- And it can
be scary at times, but he's, he's good.
He's good, you know?
He's- Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
He's good.
And, you know, a lot of the times I don't
understand, it's hard for me to understand
that I'm loved no matter what, you know?
And, but he's, he's always there
to just comfort me and heal even
the little things, you know?
Like- Yeah … we've always
talked, you know, you just, all
you gotta do is just ask him.
Mm-hmm.
And he will.
Yeah.
And he has, you know?
It's…
I've had a good life.
I can't complain.
Mm.
I mean, I know there's ups and downs, but
he's been just so good and so faithful
and so loving and so caring, and I'm
just- I feel like he looks for people
like you who have an obedient heart.
Yeah.
Like, "I'm going to follow you
no matter what, even if I'm
like, 'I don't know about this.'"
Yeah.
So, like- I do … it says somewhere
in the Bible- Yeah … obedience
is greater than sacrifice.
Yeah.
So, like, I'm, I, I feel the same,
like I'm, I'm gonna do this, God.
Like, you can't talk me out of it
at this point, like nobody can.
Well, was it, was it Peter who
said like, "Where are we gonna go?"
Yeah.
Where are we gonna go?
What are we gonna do?
You know?
There's nowhere else to go.
This is it.
This is, this is what, this is it.
Yes.
You know?
And if you don't know this relationship
with God, you need to explore it.
Yeah.
Come contact one of us and
we'll talk to you about it.
Yeah.
But, but, um, what's been some verses that
have gotten you through over the years?
Like, what's your favorite right now?
I know it changes, you know, over time.
Like, you're like, "Oh, that used
to be my favorite verse, but now I,
you know, like this one 'cause it's
speaking to me during this season."
Mm-hmm.
I remember I always used to say
Matthew 6:33, and that was my, for,
you know, when I was in high school.
I was like, "I love this verse."
And then one time I was like,
"It doesn't fit what I'm going
through right now," you know?
Yeah.
But what do you think right now?
No, one of the ones I don't, haven't
necessarily memorized- Okay … but-
You can look it up … I have it
on, I have, like, a sticky note.
Oh.
That's hilarious.
That's great.
So I have it on my phone.
I love it so much.
It's like, "When the time is right,
I the Lord will make it happen."
I love that one.
And then I always struggle with this name.
Isaiah?
Isaiah.
Yeah, Isaiah.
Mm-hmm.
60:22.
Yeah.
And, you know, just because
there's a lot of waiting-
Mm-hmm … in my life right now.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
With disp- different aspects of my
life, and I know that- All of those
things, even in the waiting, it's
not my timing, it's His timing, and
that I know I will see it happen.
And if for any reason I'm gone, uh, from
this world, I know that it will happen.
Yeah.
You know?
I know that that, um, that will happen.
Mm-hmm.
And I know that- Yeah … He's,
He's gonna make it happen
whether I'm here or I'm not here.
Yeah.
I know that.
And it just kinda goes back to, like,
I think about it and I remember,
like, the last few podcasts you
guys have talked about are the
vials, prayer vials, you know?
Mm-hmm.
I know.
Yeah.
And I, I think of that,
I'm like, "You know what?
I know that every prayer that I'm doing,
one way or another, is going to Him."
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
And it's been stored up in there, 'cause
I know that I'm here because of all the
prayers of all the people that have come
in contact with me in my life and that
have prayed and that continue to pray.
I know that that's why
I'm also here where I am.
Yeah.
You know, because of all those
prayers of everyone that's praying.
And everyone who will
pray- Yes … for you.
Yes.
'Cause God's outside of time.
Yes.
Yes.
So it's hard to imagine, but yeah.
And we, you know, just did a podcast
that will come out the week before
yours, unless things get shifted around.
But, uh, it was with Thomas
Hale, and he said, um, "We need
to pray from the top down-" Yeah
as if we are sitting in the
throne room with God down.
We always say we're gonna … And
I have, I, I was like, felt
like a loser listening to him.
I'm like- Oh my gosh.
It was- … "My goodness, I, I need
a redo of all my whole prayer life."
But he said, you know, "Don't pray
up, pray down," because you're praying
through the spiritual atmosphere- Yeah
that the enemy lives
in to Earth, you know.
And I was like, "Oh my goodness."
And he gave scripture and all that,
and I was like, "That's so good."
It really was.
But, you know, and like Jill
said, it's outside of time.
Like- Yes … you know, He doesn't
operate in our time, which is why
we are frustrated a lot because
we're like, "Uh," you know?
Mm-hmm.
"Why isn't this happening?"
Yes.
So, but yeah.
That's, that's a good, that's a good
verse for that whole- I like it … thing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like that.
So is there anything else
today you wanna share?
I know we're gonna have you back on.
Because I feel like- I do too … great
things are about to happen in your life.
Amen.
Really, really- Amen … great things.
Yep.
Um, but is there anything else
today that you want to share?
Not that I can think of, you know.
Um- That's all right.
Yeah.
'Cause we are gonna have
you back, so, you know.
Yes.
There you go.
Uh-huh.
Having faith.
Yeah.
Faith.
And yes, yes.
Yeah.
Um, okay, so you know the question we
always ask, and I'm sure that you- Yep
have thought about it.
Okay.
But if you can go back into any
Bible story and live it in real time,
what would you want to go back to?
So I know somebody has already said it.
Okay.
Just because I listen to the podcast.
That's okay.
But when I…
'Cause I've been thinking about it,
and it would be the day of Pentecost.
Oh, yeah.
Yes.
That's a good one.
Just- Was it Brandon who said that one?
Um.
I think so.
I don't remember.
I don't know.
I can't remember, but.
I don't remember who it was.
Yeah.
But somebody had said it already.
Yeah.
And I was like, "Ah, that's
the one I wanted to say."
You know?
Okay, tell us why.
But because- That's all right
you know, just being able to see,
like, you know, like, if you're
filled with the Holy Spirit.
Mm-hmm.
The feeling that you feel
there, you know, it's you.
And not that we can't experience that
in- Right … today's day, you know?
Right.
But just to be able to- Mm-hmm … see
the Spirit moving, like, the
whole place and everyone, not even
one person is not being filled.
Yeah.
That would just be like- Yeah Like, can
you imagine the peace- I mean, maybe-
… just about there too … maybe one day
we'll b- all be together- Yes … in
a service and that will happen again.
Oh.
Yes.
Yes, that- Hope we're all
together Let it happen.
Yes.
Yeah, and the fire- Let it be
so … like tongues of fire.
Yes.
Yes.
Goodness.
So, you know, uh, to me that
would be like just to see, you
know, like- And hear … and hear.
Yeah, like, you know,
God's power right there.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
You know?
Uh, you know, we don't get to s-
necessarily see it f- you know, all
the time, but just manifested that
way and everyone just- Yes … I
don't know, I just get chills.
Yeah.
Oh.
I mean, you know, one time I was at
youth camp and they said they made
the correlation of these people
who were in the upper room were
there for days before it happened.
Yes.
And they were like, "You've
been here for days."
You know?
Yeah.
And we would have powerful,
even though I'm, at the time,
was not a big fan of- Camp
camp because I'm a homebody.
Um, but I was like, "Yeah, like
we're separated here for a reason."
Yes.
So not that you have to be before
a move of God happens, but it, it
made sense to me as a teenager.
I was like, "Yeah, well come on."
And we would have powerful
services, you know?
So yeah, I would … That's a good one.
That really is a good one.
And not only that, you know,
like they were persistent.
They were s- there, you know?
'Cause how many times do we easily give
up and- Mm-hmm … just like, "Okay,
this- Yeah … has been like 10 hours.
Let's go."
Yeah, yeah.
You know?
And- Praise God.
I mean, let's get, let's get real.
It's been 20 minutes, so I'm- I
guess you're not gonna do anything.
I'm hearing- I'm done- … like calling
… and I'm ready whenever you are.
Yes.
You know?
And then off I go with the rest of my day.
Yeah.
Yes.
So.
So.
Sometimes you have to- Not just me
… wait and wait and then wait some more.
Yes.
So, but we will- Yeah … wait
sometimes reluctantly, but we will wait.
We will wait.
Yeah.
Well, this is really g- I wanna
ask you one more question.
Yeah.
This is a fun one that sometimes we
ask and sometimes we don't, but if you
could have a superpower- Any superpower?
Mm.
What would you do?
I just went What would you wanna have?
I was, I was, you know,
twiddling my fingers.
I guess it would be just to
be at different places if
I needed to be, you know?
Oh, yeah.
Like it'd be- To be able to be
in more than one place at once.
Well, yeah, like, okay, I, I need
to go, like, across town right now.
Like, I'll be there, like,
blink.
Oh, like teleport.
Oh, to teleport.
Yeah.
Like, you know.
Like, uh, who did that in the Bible?
Um- We talked about this.
Philip?
Philip.
Philip.
Philip.
Like boom, boom, poof.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it's biblical,
Lisbeth Ask any shower singer.
I'm
like, eh, I don't wanna be here right now.
Let's go.
Oh, yeah.
Catch me up outta here.
Yeah, it's- That's a good, that's a
good tel- That's a good, um, superpower.
I like it.
Like it.
Okay, well, I guess we're done for today,
but we do expect to have you back on soon.
I know.
I'm really excited.
Yeah.
We- Yeah.
God's always up to something good.
Yeah.
So.
Yes.
But thanks for being here,
and we love you so much.
Thank you for inviting me.
Very refreshing to be around you.
I know.
It's so good.
Yeah, it's so good.
Bye.
All right.
Well, see you next time.
Yeah.
Bye.
Bye.
