Psalm 125. Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion. They will not be defeated but will endure forever. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forever. The wicked will not rule the land of the godly, for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.
Scott Schutte:O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you, but banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord. Take them away with those who do evil. May Israel have peace. This is another Psalm that is a song of ascent, which is the songs that the Israelites would sing as they were traveling to Jerusalem for one of their festivals and celebrations. And this psalm is really talking about the steadfastness and sturdiness and stability of God and his protection.
Scott Schutte:God is always there for us. He compares him to a mountain. And I don't know about you, but I think it would be pretty hard, to move a mountain. We as civilized people have built tools and things to try to do that, but, they're very hard to move. And God is just like that.
Scott Schutte:He's a sturdy, reliable place for us to seek safety and security. And God surrounds all of his people and protects them. And, he's promised that to us. And even if it doesn't happen or feel like it's happening in this life, we have the promise that at some point, God will make all things new, that he will wipe away every tear, and that, he's creating a place of, of peace for us. And so let's pray.
Scott Schutte:God, thank you so much for being our place of protection, for being a mountain for us, a sturdy place that's immovable because we are movable and we struggle to know where to go and, we struggle and look to other things to protect us, but you are our our source of hope and our source of protection and you have promised great things for us. And so, God, I pray that you would help us to reflect on how faithful and steady you are in our lives. I pray that you would show us how you have shown up for us time and time again. And we are just so thankful for you and who you are to us. And all this we lift up in the powerful name of Jesus.
Scott Schutte:Amen.
