Hello and welcome to the Transfer News Podcast. I'm Archer, and it's Monday, the twenty-ninth of December, two thousand and twenty-five. The January window is just around the corner, and the rumor mill is in absolute overdrive. We've got drama at Old Trafford, Saudi interest in some massive names, and clubs scrambling to strengthen their squads. Let's dive straight in.
Starting with Manchester United, and there's significant talk around Kobbie Mainoo. Reports suggest the young midfielder wants to leave Old Trafford, with several clubs interested in a January loan move. However, Ruben Amorim has come out strongly, calling Mainoo the future of Manchester United, and the club could block any potential move. It's a fascinating situation, a young talent possibly frustrated with game time but a manager publicly backing him.
Staying at United, they're reportedly considering a shock return for James Garner, the midfielder they sold to Everton. United are also eyeing a loan deal for Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, and they're plotting a move for Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo in January. It seems Ruben Amorim is keen to add quality and depth across the midfield and attack. There's also talk of a potential swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain involving Marcus Rashford, which would be quite the statement move.
On the striker front, Manchester United face a deadlock over Joshua Zirkzee's potential move to Roma. The deal appears to have stalled, leaving United in limbo over their forward options.
Moving to Liverpool, and Antoine Semenyo reportedly prefers a move to Anfield over other interested clubs. The Bournemouth forward is attracting attention from five clubs in total, but Liverpool seems to be his preferred destination. That's quite the compliment to Arne Slot's project at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah continues to be the top priority for the Saudi Pro League, with Al Hilal preparing a bid for the Egyptian superstar. Reports suggest Salah could still make the move to Saudi Arabia despite recent contract talks at Liverpool. Given his recent form for Egypt, scoring again as they beat South Africa, his value remains sky high.
Newcastle United's Joelinton is a target for Saudi Pro League clubs, with interest heating up in the Brazilian midfielder. Meanwhile, Yannick Wissa has spoken about his connection to Newcastle, saying he has more to give and calling it his destiny, which has certainly raised eyebrows.
Crystal Palace are making moves, reportedly wanting Brennan Johnson from Tottenham. Palace may also consider bids for their own striker Jean-Philippe Mateta if the right offer comes in. Oliver Glasner is clearly looking to reshape his attack.
Marc Guehi is the subject of intense speculation. Barcelona have reportedly cooled their interest in the Crystal Palace defender, but Manchester City are targeting him for the summer, and Bayern Munich are planning talks with the England international. That's three of Europe's biggest clubs circling.
Manchester City themselves are the subject of speculation, with Fulham and Crystal Palace reportedly eyeing a City playmaker. Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that everything can happen in the transfer window, which is about as cryptic as you'd expect from Pep.
West Ham are busy in the market. Nuno Espirito Santo's side are eyeing Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen for January, and they're also watching in-form Adam Clayton. Additionally, West Ham have set their sights on Norwich striker Josh Sargent as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is attracting interest from two La Liga clubs, who are battling for his signature. At Wolves, Vitor Pereira will be keen to keep hold of his key players amid the interest.
Two Premier League clubs are reportedly eyeing Sporting's Ousmane Diomande, the highly rated defender who has impressed in Portugal.
