Welcome, dear listeners. Today, we turn our attention to the timeless wisdom of the Tanya, specifically to a concept deeply relevant to our daily lives: the struggle between our higher and lower selves.
In the Tanya, we find an analogy of two souls, the divine and the animal, each vying for dominance within us. Imagine an internal small city with two kings each desiring to rule. This is the essence of our human experience.
The divine soul, rooted in holiness, seeks to connect with the Infinite, to transcend the mundane. It aspires to goodness, kindness, and spiritual pursuits. On the other hand, the animal soul, concerned with survival and physical pleasure, pulses with earthly desires.
This struggle is not to be shunned but embraced. It is our daily battle, our very purpose. Through this conflict, we are given the opportunity to elevate the mundane, to sanctify the physical by choosing the divine soul's desires over those of the animal soul.
Each time we choose patience over anger, generosity over selfishness, or silence over harmful words, we are asserting the divine within us. And with each victory, no matter how small, we illuminate the world, infusing it with spirituality.
Remember, the battle is ongoing. There is no final victory, for the struggle itself is the purpose of our existence. It is through this that we grow, that we refine ourselves and the world around us.
As we journey through our day, let us be mindful of this inner tension and choose the path that uplifts, that brings us closer to our true essence. May our choices reflect the nobility of our divine soul.
