Hello and welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly where each Saturday we share stories from our archive of performances of the world's best short stories, recorded live in Los Angeles, New York, and London, brought to life by great actors, usually with the writers in the room!

I’m your host, Cedering Fox, WORDTheatre's Founder & Artistic Director.

Please note that WORDTheatre® holds the copyright to these recordings so no portion of anything you hear may be reproduced without permission.

Our offering this week I think is best described by the author Maile Meloy when she wrote “I wanted to write about love and adultery in such a way that the nature of the story changes as you read it, in which the power shifts among the characters and what you understand about them turns and turns again.” As you may have figured out by now, we love hearing voices and here now is Maile Meloy's with a brief introduction to today's offering.

Two-Step plays…WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO PRINT THE WORDS OF THIS STORY. DOING SO WOULD VIOLATE COPYRIGHT LAWS.

We hope you have enjoyed listening to Two-Step as much as we enjoye dthe live performance and this recording, Maile reminded me that our phenomenal actor Sarah Clarke was actually pregnant when she read it! You can find this story in Maile Meloy’s collection Both Ways Is The Only Way I Want It which was selected for the NYT Book Review Ten Best Books in 2009, which was around the time when it was recorded.. A prolific author, Maile has written novels, short story collections, and has her work featured in many anthologies. She is currently at work on Series Two of Accused. Thank you Maile!

Another thank you to our longtime friend Sarah Clarke for her electric performance of Two-Step. Sarah is an accomplished actor having become well known for her role as Nina Myers on 24, and for her roles in the Twilight films, Trust Me, Covert Affairs, Bosch and many more.

If you are enjoying WORDTheatre® Weekly, you’ll find books by the authors we feature on Bookshop.org/shop/wordtheatre! And please, tell your friends about us!

Time to wrap it up so I'd like to thank, always, Philanthropist/Benefactor, Ola Strom, Glass Animals for our theme music; the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture for their support. And thank you to all our wonderful interns, our podcast intern Reilly Fox, our executive coordinator, Scout Riley, and always, our podcast editor Jason Lee!

If you are anywhere near Los Angeles on Friday April 12, I invite you to please join us for an evening with George Saunders and his Stories. We will be in Santa Monica and you can read all about it at WORDTheatre.org/Events!

Until next week, This is Cedering Fox, signing off!
