Have you ever looked around at this season of life and thought, "Okay God... now what?"
Maybe the kids are grown. Maybe your career looks different than it used to. Maybe your body doesn't move the way it did, your role has shifted, or you're just not sure who you're supposed to be anymore now that so much has changed. If you've ever felt unseen, unsure, or like life after 50 was supposed to come with more clarity than it has — you're not alone, and you're in the right place.
What this podcast is about:
Life After 50 is a Christian podcast for Women Over 50 offering weekly conversations on faith, finding God's purpose, moving into this new season with honesty and in the direction, He has for you. Each episode digs into what it really looks like to trust and move with God — not the everything's-fine version of faith, but the honest, real, sometimes-messy kind. We talk about purpose in midlife, identity, waiting on God, trusting Him with what we can't understand, and finding God's direction when the road ahead isn't clear yet.
Why it's for you:
This isn't a podcast about pretending you have it all figured out. It's for the woman who's tired of performing "okay" and ready to bring her real questions, real doubts, and real heart to God. Whether you're an empty nester, navigating retirement, or simply asking "what's my purpose or what's the next step Lord" this show was made with you in mind. You're not behind. You're not forgotten. And you're definitely not the only one still asking these questions.
How it will help you:
Every episode gives you more than encouragement — it gives you practical, faith-based steps for women to actually walk away with. Real ways to bring honest feelings to God. Scripture for hard seasons and reminders of what you know to be true about Him, even when circumstances say otherwise. And tangible tools for trusting God through uncertainty and finding hope in midlife. This is a space to process, grow, and be reminded that this season — however uncertain it feels right now — still has purpose.
So, if you're a woman ready to stop pretending, start trusting, and discover God's calling for this new season... pull up a seat. Let's walk through this together.
HOOK:
Last week we talked about how God is getting ready to introduce you to the world.
● The question was: Are you ready?
● My question to you now: Are you procrastinating, or are you moving forward with what God has for you?
Because we all know it's possible to say yes, I'm ready, and still not moving.
That's what we're talking about today. Self-sabotage, procrastination, and hesitation are real — but they're not always intentional. Sometimes they show up unconsciously, in the little things we do without even noticing. Other times, they're rooted in fear or self-doubt.
And if that's you today, I want you to hear this before we go any further.
2 Timothy 1:7 tells us:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
That fear you feel when you think about moving forward? It didn't come from God. So, we're not going to let it have the final word.
INTRO/MUSIC:
Hey friend, welcome back to the show. I'm so glad you're here.
I’m your host Victoria. Before we jump into today’s show, I want to let you know — that in the coming weeks, this podcast has a new name. We've gone from Christian Women Over 50 in Transition to Life After 50: Discover God's Direction for You in This New Season.
Nothing about the heart of this show has changed — same faith, same encouragement, same community. If you're subscribed, you don't need to do a thing — it'll just show up under the new name.
If this is your first time joining me, we're doing one thing — discovering God's direction for you in this new season. Not the season you used to be in. Not the season you thought you'd be in. The one you're actually in, right now.

Let’s go….
The Tension of Moving Forward:
Here's something I know to be true in my own life, and probably in yours too: it is so easy to fall back into old habits. Easier than we'd like to admit.
And moving forward — really moving forward — takes real, sustained effort. It's not a one-time decision. It's a daily one.
If I'm honest about the pattern, it looks like this: we stop. we start. we hesitate. Stop, start, hesitate. Over and over. Maybe you've lived that cycle this year. I know I have, many times.
What Procrastination, Hesitation, and Self-Sabotage Really Are:
Let's slow down for a second, because I think we throw these words around loosely without really looking at what they mean — and I want you to really hear this, because it's probably you and me both.
Let's start with procrastination — simply put, it's putting off something you know you need to do. Not because you forgot or there's no time. You just... keep pushing it to tomorrow.
To hesitate means to hold back in doubt or indecision — to delay, even if just momentarily.
Doesn't sound so serious when you say it that way, does it? A momentary delay. But hesitation is rarely neutral. So, I want you to ask yourself, — am I doubting God? Or the work He is doing in my life?
Because sometimes what looks like "I'm just not ready yet" is actually a quiet doubt that God really is doing what He said He'd do — in you, and for you.
And that pattern of hesitating, left unchecked, can turn into something named: self-sabotage.
Self-sabotage is when you do things — or don't do things — that block your own success and stop you from reaching your goals.
So, let me ask you friend: are you self-sabotaging yourself? I'm not asking to shame you. I'm asking because you can't change what you won't name. And today, we're naming it — together.
Why It Matters:
Here's why I'm not letting either of us off the hook on this. Self-sabotage doesn't just delay a goal on your to-do list. It can delay the very thing God is preparing to reveal in you.
Think back to last week — God is getting you ready to be introduced to the world. Your world. The people you're meant to reach, the calling that's been sitting quietly on your heart. Hesitation and self-sabotage are exactly what keep that introduction from happening on time.
What Scripture Says:
Now, I went looking, and Scripture doesn't use the word "procrastination" anywhere — it’s not a Bible word. But it absolutely speaks to diligence. It speaks to avoiding laziness. It speaks to taking prompt action.
There's one passage that captures this so simply. Proverbs 6: 6-8:
"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest."
Read that again with me. The ant has no commander. No overseer. No ruler. Nobody is standing over that ant with a checklist, making it move. And yet, it stores up in summer. It gathers at harvest. It simply knows its season — and it acts.
And Scripture doesn't stop there. Proverbs 13:4 put it even more plainly:
"Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper."
The season you're in is asking something of you, a quiet, faithful recognition of where you are, and a willingness to act in it, without waiting for someone else to push you.
How to Move Forward:
So, what do we actually do with this? Let me walk you through a few practical steps.
First, name one specific area of hesitation out loud. Tell God. Tell a trusted friend. Or just write it down.
There's something powerful about naming it — it takes away its hiding place.
Second, take one action step this week. Remember the ant. It didn't gather the whole harvest in a day. It just kept showing up.
Third, replace that self-sabotaging self-talk with truth. And here's the truth: God is not waiting on your perfection. He's waiting on your obedience.
And when it feels slow, or when you're tempted to quit before you see anything change, hold onto this:
Galatians 6:9 - "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
There's that harvest word again — same as the ant, same as Proverbs 13:4. You will reap, friend. Just don't give up before the proper time.
