I wanna again welcome you into The 04:05 Coffee break, guys. Get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottle of water, a kite to fly. It is windy out there. Let's see what's happening.
OK Solberg:Spring wheat $5.46 a bushel. 550lb steer calf 4 dollars and a penny, all the way to $4.10. Butcher hog in Iowa, 64ยข a pound, and a 100lb fat lamb in Billings big jump, $2.46 on the top end. But guys, there's more. Much more
OK Solberg:Christmas is a coming and the geese are getting fat. Are you ready for Christmas?
OK Solberg:I certainly am not totally ready yet. It's only a week away. I better start cracking. I can say this. I always enjoy listening to Christmas music, and KMMR has been playing some good songs for the season.
OK Solberg:Well, just this morning, I heard this song played, please come home for Christmas. Dynamite song, it's one we know and love often. We just let the melody carry us away and really don't listen to the lyrics that closely. You know that many Christmas songs are happy and joyous like, well, let's say, joy to the world. Right?
OK Solberg:Listen. Joy to the world. The Lord is come. Let earth receive her king. Spot on and that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.
OK Solberg:And a perfect time for our bible verse. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11 Then joy to the world, a joyous song. How about deck the halls?
OK Solberg:That's a joyous song. Deck the halls with boughs of holly. La la la la la Tis the season to be jolly. It's shouting joy. How about hark the herald angels sing?
OK Solberg:Well, that's a joyful song. Joyful and peaceful. A joyful peaceful Christmas song. Hark, the herald angels sing glory to the newborn king. Peace on earth and mercy mild.
OK Solberg:Gently, joyous, and peaceful with mercy. We all do desire that. How about jingle bells dashing through the snow in one horse open sleigh over the hills we go laughing all the way. It's so joyous they're laughing. Now the Christmas song I heard this morning puts into the Christmas mood for sure because we hear it every year.
OK Solberg:Please come home for Christmas yet. Have you paid attention to the lyrics? Have you? Listen. Bells will be ringing the sad, sad news.
OK Solberg:Oh, what a Christmas to have, the blues. What? That isn't joyous. No. It isn't.
OK Solberg:But did you realize the Christmas season is a very hard time for many people? It's hard for many. And they aren't the bah humbug types. They're the ones that are all alone. Yes.
OK Solberg:Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. Yes. Christmas is the time gifts are given. Yes. Christmas is the time for mistletoe and holly, but it ain't no fun when you're all alone.
OK Solberg:Bells will be ringing the sad, sad news. Oh, what a Christmas to have the blues. My baby's gone. I have no friends to wish me greetings once again. I'm sorry, but man, that sucks to sit alone with no phone calls, no Christmas cards, and no conversation.
OK Solberg:So this episode is dedicated to the ones all alone. Do you know why some people like songs that are blue? Because they can relate to them. Wow. That's just like me.
OK Solberg:How did the songwriter know that? And somehow it feels a little better when we know someone else feels like that. You know, they say misery loves company so I can feel the misery with you. But what about the rest of you? I give you this challenge during the Christmas season.
OK Solberg:Take a plate of cookies to a person who is all alone. Pull out the old teleophone and call someone to tell them you're thinking of them. And you say, I don't know what to say. Hey, I'll tell you what to say. Hi.
OK Solberg:I don't need to borrow any money and I'm not in trouble. I just wanted to say Merry Christmas. How you doing? And you know what? If you do that, you will feel as good as the other person. You know, Clark, that's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.
OK Solberg:So until next time, no bah humbugging, but reach out to someone. As you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
