Full show transcript:

You're offered a lifetime supply of the one thing you complain about buying the most. What is it?

Oh. Um, I don't particularly enjoy buying rock salt for the water softener because it's something I have to remember. And um it's heavy and it's heavy.

And you have to carry it downstairs.

So that would be nice. I'm also annoyed that I have to spend actual money buying dirt for the garden. Yeah. Like I just want dirt.

Do you sometimes worry about like when we get older and we don't necessarily have the muscle capacity to carry the rock salt down the stairs? Do you ever worry about that? No. And how it's that's gonna be. I haven't ever thought of that. Oh, I think about that sometimes. Why? I don't know.

Because you carry it down the stairs?

No, I worry about it for you. Oh.

And how that's all end up putting in like a slide or something. Oh I will engineer a solution. Yeah, you can. You will. We'll have some sort of folding. Look, by the time what? 20 years from now?

30 years from now. Uh-huh. Like, there will be some other thing that was invented, probably. That's true. Like, that's a long time from now.

Okay. I mean, they've got to be doing new technology and soft water by now. Right?

They're just like, I mean, eventually they're gonna be like, what have we been doing this whole time? Lugging around 40 pound bags of salt. We've gotta have another way. There's gotta be another way.

Okay, so dirt is another thing. Yeah, I hate spending money on dirt. Yeah, that seems so stupid. Guess what I need to do? Buy spend money on dirt. Yeah.

I gotta get the garden beds put away for the winter. And I need to expand the flower bed. I've got stuff to do. I've got more beds to build.

What do I complain about buying the most?

You know what I need to do is not buy individual bags. I need to buy a truckload. A truckload. Yeah. I need a truckload of dirt. I need a big pile of dirt. Yep. That I can just dig out of.

I think that there are places where you can go do that.

Yeah, no, there are. There are plenty of them. Every nursery. There are other places. Like, yeah, oh yeah, you can just buy a truckload of dirt. Well, then go do that. Yeah, I probably should. I need a I need a big truckload of dirt.

Yeah, you're right. That sounds dumb. Yeah, no. Why are we spending our money on the stuff?

That's what I'm saying. A lifetime supply of those things? If I was just they were just like, here, have all the dirt you want. And I'd be like, sweet! I don't spend money on dirt anymore.

I was just complaining about medical bills. Yeah, that's lame. That's totally like I hate that. But you can't be offered a lifetime supply of that.

Ever uh you could be offered every time you get one, it's not taken care of. It's not a bill. It's not a problem. That would be crazy. Hey, listen, don't go throwing around crazy ideas like not paying medical bills. People get angry about that. Anyway.

I hate paying medical bills. Right? Boring. Stupid.

I hate paying bills at all. Why do why do we have to pay for this stuff? Let's go back to like uh a system where uh it's all barter. Like I give you service. Like, how about I give you entertainment in the form of a show uh with my wife, and we make you have a fun time, and then you don't make me pay bills.

But also, we could also throw in a couple of tomatoes from our garden. That's right.

We could we could throw in some tomatoes. I grew a bunch. We have so many tomatoes. You want some zucchini? I'll trade you zucchini for medical bills. Come on. It's a good trade. It's a deal you can't refuse.

Here's today's show.

Oh boy. What's up, dude? Hi. Uh good morning. What's what's going on?

What's good? What's happening? What's new? What's crack a lacking?

I don't even know. That's a lot of questions you've asked.

No, it's the same question, just in a different variation. Hmm. What's crack a whacking? Yeah, when's the last time you heard that?

Well, just mere seconds ago. Prior to that, however. A while. Yeah, pretty good while. We need to bring that back. Do we? Hey, what's crack a lacking? Well, what is crack a legging? I'll tell you, uh, I have seen a whole lot of Halloween stuff in my socials. I don't know if you've seen that. Uh, but when I'm scrolling, I see like uh like people premiering their Halloween costumes. Yes. And I'm thinking to myself, like, it's it's early. It's the seventh. You've got a couple of weeks until Halloween. Uh I mean, like 24 days.

Yeah, but a lot of times trunk retreats happen.

Now. Yeah, there's some early stuff.

Halloween kind of lasts. By the time Halloween actually comes, yeah. You're kind of sick of Halloween because there's been so many Halloween activities with Boo at the Zoo and Trunk Retreats and Spook Allies with this organization. Yeah. And that organization. Sure. There's all kinds of stuff.

But it used to be that you uh you kind of um uh you kind of like wore it once when we were kids. Yeah. Not now. well, I guess you maybe got to wear it like if if Halloween was on the weekend, and you might get to wear it like at school. So you might get like two wears out of it. Two times you got to wear it. Now it's every day. Yeah, I mean, people wear it.

Now it's every day. People wear whatever they want all the time. I've seen a lot of Michael Jacksons. True story. That is a very true story. I think there's gonna be a lot of those for Halloween this time.

I like the resurgence of the King of Pop. I think it's cool. And it's a young crowd that are really into like I like the music, I like the dance moves, it's inspiring me. I want to be Michael Jackson. Ow. Do your best, Michael. Uh he. Ooh, nice one. Yeah. Good one. Was it?

I mean, it's a little lackluster,

but yeah, I didn't really put a lot of.

It was like an early morning hee-hee.

Yeah. That's it's Michael in the morning. Somebody walks in. That's how he yawns. Like, good morning. Hey. hee Yeah. He's coy, shy. Uh anyway. All right. Well, hey, uh, good morning. We're here in the studio. Hi. Hi. All right. Good news. Uh woman in Rhode Island gave her husband a pretty amazing gift for their 20th wedding anniversary. What was it? What do you uh want to guess?

Uh what's the 20-year symbol of love?

Irrelevant to what she gave him. She gave him a pan flute. No. No. This is good news. What do you think she gave him? Um, I don't know. She donated a kidney. Oh.

Yeah. To save his life just days before their 20th wedding anniversary. Giovanni Ricci was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease last year. Uh his search for an organ organ donor led right back to his wife. Uh his wife's name is Lisa. Turned out she was the perfect match following a success.

In more ways than one. Aww. And following a successful transplant surgery, the couple celebrated two major milestones from their hospital beds. They renewed their wedding vows, surrounded by their daughters. Hospital staff made the day very special. They delivered an anniversary meal and cake.

And the experience was sometimes scary. Lisa said it was all about the family from the very beginning. Everything we do, we do for our kids, she said.

We wanted to make sure that he was around for our kids to have their dad around and just to be a family and be back to the way things were. Cute! Very, very cool. And uh how about the the good fortune of finding a partner in life who has exactly everything you need.

Now, do you think she's ever gonna just let him forget about it? I gave you a kidney Anytime. I will take it back. I don't want to take out the garbage.

I gave you a kidney. I wouldn't, I wouldn't do that. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Stupid. Yeah.

Good news. Two of the four of us in our family really like sushi. Two of the four? Yeah. So the kids? No, me and Beck.

Oh. Emory is dabbling in some sushi. She just likes kind of some of the basics. Like she likes the California role, which is very light sushi. Okay. Okay. But is it not sushi? It is.

I mean, I I would feel like the California role. But that's just based off what I my limited sushi knowledge. I would think that's probably one of the more popular roles.

It is, but it is one of the most basic ones.

And is that why it's popular? Probably. Okay.

Um, but you are slowly coming around, I think.

I've had a couple of different things that I didn't mind. I tried uh I wish I could remember the one that I really liked. And it was just a it was just a veggie one, uh, but I can't remember what it was called, and I can't remember the name of the place we had it. Uh it was in Utah though, and it was very good. I was very happy with it because it it had uh great flavor, tasted nice.

I liked it. Uh, and then uh this past weekend, we were in Utah again, went to a different place that had sushi, and I tried a couple of new things that I thought sounded interesting. Never had uh was it crystal shrimp? Is that what it was called? Uh-huh. Uh in a roll, and I thought, well, that seems nice.

The shrimp is cooked. That should be good. And it was uh, it was really kind of a dessert almost. It was sweet. It was a little bit sweet. And it reminded me of the fried Snickers, the way the tempuro was on the outside of the roll, and it was fried. It reminded me of the deep fried Snickers, you know?

Sliced up. It was it had a lot of similar flavor. I was like, No, it didn't. Well, I'm just saying like the the fried tempura did. Okay. The rest of it, what was inside was not a Snickers. What was inside was shrimp and stuff.

And then we got a mango. Yeah. Sushi roll. I can't remember what else was in that.

So that one had a like one big piece of crab in it. Rather than uh like the California roll has like shredded crab. Yeah. It doesn't have the one. Depends on who makes it. Okay. Um that's probably fair. But I'm excited.

I'm excited that you're coming around to sushi because Beck and I both really like sushi. And we often get invited to sushi. Yeah. We do.

Well, I'm missing those invites. Because I haven't seen them.

They used to come from our friends who now have moved to Boise. Uh, but they really like sushi, and they were like, hey, you guys want to go kits sushi? And I'd be like, Josh doesn't like sushi. Well, I'm trying to figure it out more than anything.

Because I'm not I'm not super into like, I'm not doing anything with like tuna or the salmon thing on top.

Because that's not my thing. That was delicious. Yeah, it's not my thing. That's okay. You find what works for you. Right. I'm there's all kinds of stuff.

I also think it's kind of expensive for what it is.

It is expensive. That's because it takes so long to make.

It's pretty they're bringing it out within a couple minutes. It's a lack of it. It doesn't seem like it takes that long. I mean, it's pretty. It is pretty.

And delicious. But you're getting like what

eight, nine inches, maybe of like rice rolled around food. Cut into little strips. I don't know. It feels like they're like, that's $12. And I go, $12.

But it's so good. I'm just excited. I'm excited that you're coming around because we have a really good, I mean, there's a couple of good sushi places here in town. And I always want to go there, but I don't even ever suggest it because I go, uh Josh won't ever go. So we, me and Beck and the Emery typically go when you're out of town. Dad's out of town. It's either breakfast for dinner or sushi.

Or both. The two. Depending on how long I'm gone. Good point. Yeah. Mmm. Mmm. Well, anyway. I'm excited for you. I'm excited for me. You're excited for, Okay. I'm excited for sushi.

Okay. Is there plans to get some again soon? Kind of. I kind of want more. Ah. So there's not plans. There's just a desire. Correct. You know what else I've been craving? What's that?

I don't even want to say that.

Yeah, you said this the other day. Are you still craving this?

Yeah, I want the animal fries from the five.

You want the animal style fries from from In N Out, which you don't like.

I don't I didn't even used to like it, but I've been craving that. Yeah. Can't get it. No, you cannot.

Uh I mean, you can. Where where you gotta go to like Twin Falls. Is that the closest one? I don't know. I'm not gonna look it up.

No, I don't care too. I'll just whatever. The next time we go, I might get some. But there's there is better food than that. I've just been lately like mmm.

I think you might be hungry this morning. Always you've had a lot of like I'm always powdered donut, yes. That sounds nice. I'll have that.

Have you heard about the Barbenheimera video games? I have. Okay. Dang it.

I know what November holds in store.

I wanted to bring something cool that you hadn't heard of. Oh. And have you be like, no, what is it? Yeah, I have.

Uh the new Zelda game comes out for Nintendo Switch 2. And uh it is uh it's the remake of the uh Tale of the Ocarina or something. Ooh, close. Ocarina of Time. There you go.

Uh and then uh which a lot of people are super super super excited for. I didn't play a lot of Zelda in like my entire gaming history, all my time with Nintendo. I just never got into Zelda.

Did it involve Yoshi or a fast car? It did not play it.

I was into Street Fighter and uh the Ninja Turtle stuff and all the Mario stuff, and I was just on a different wavelength. I never got into the Zelda thing when the golden cartridge came out. Like it just was a big deal.

Or silver, whatever it was. Uh I understand some of the lore, but in the game you can fish, and I appreciate that. I like a good game you can fish in.

Um Anyway, so there's so there's that. And then at the same time, uh the much anticipated game that uh so many people uh in the gaming world have been waiting for, uh, Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming out, and they're both coming out in November. No other game developer wanted to release a game at the same time as Grand Theft Auto. I think it's brilliant for Nintendo to go, not everybody wants a mature rated game, and that sort of limits your audience. So why wouldn't we release another game aside from it? Like that's smart, in my opinion. Yeah. Is it? Yeah.

But those are the two games. Right.

And the reference to Barbenheimer is when Oppenheimer and Barbie came out in the theaters at the same time.

Two kind of very opposite things. Correct.

Two very big yeah, and I would agree. This people are this is comparable. Yeah. Yeah. Do they have a cute name for it? No.

It's just called the Barbenheimer of Video Games.

So they've turned Barbenheimer into a word then. Uh yeah. When two sort of opposite things are combined at the same time. It's a Barbenheimer. It's a Barbenheimer. Interesting.

Um, what's that name? Zelda. What's that name? Zelda comes out on November 5th. And Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out on November 19th. Yeah.

So they're even far enough apart. They're two weeks apart. So there's enough time for you to get both if you're really into gaming and you have both consoles or whatever.

Are they both okay? I know you said this, but I wasn't Nintendo. It's on the Switch.

Nintendo Switch 2, I believe. I don't know if it's even for the Nintendo Switch. I think it's only on Switch 2.

And Grand Theft Auto is PlayStation. And Xbox.

Uh the PC version is not ready yet. So it will not be available at launch. And it's caused quite the controversy as well because they are uh it's a huge game. It's many, many, many gigs of game. Hundreds of gigs of game that you have to store on your console.

Uh and so a lot of people are like, what? And then they decided they were not gonna ship with a disc. It was gonna be a download. So servers are gonna crash on release day. It's gonna be a it's gonna be chaos.

It's gonna be chaos. Not for me. Well, and and then what they'll do is they'll let you download it early so you can have it in your queue. You can get it downloaded, but you won't be able to launch the game until the day it releases. It's a whole thing. It's super nerdy.

It is nerdy, and I'm kind of bored talking about it. Well, you brought it up.

I know thinking you were gonna impress me.

Well, there you go. If you like video games, pay attention. Sure. If you don't, that was fun. I was running errands with Emery the other day, and I was kind of just being a little bit quiet. I feel like I was all talked out for the day.

And when does that happen? Go ahead. Go ahead. I'm not even gonna say what I was gonna say. Yes, you are. Well, there's part of it, I'm not gonna say. What part? I'll tell you in a minute.

How are you gonna tell me in a minute if you're not gonna say it? Make this make sense. Josh quiet. All right. Go ahead. Tell your story.

So I was just quiet and I had been, you know, at work all day, and sometimes your social battery gets a little bit drained from working all day because here's the thing about work. You have to you have to be the best version of yourself at work. That's true. Especially if you're uh forward-facing like customer service.

Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

And so by the end of the day, you're kind of just a little bit zapped. Right. And so I was just kind of quietly driving, listening to the radio, and then all Emery wanted to do was talk. Okay.

Talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. Sure. Which is fine, but then she expected me to respond.

Right. And I was like, I don't I don't want to respond. I have been in this situation. I was gonna ask, and this is the part I wasn't gonna say. What's the part you weren't gonna say? I was gonna say, is that what I do? Never rude. That's not rude. Yeah, it is. These are just the facts.

And it's not anything wrong. It's that like here's the thing about radio in general. Like in radio, we gotta talk. We gotta talk a lot for a long time. And then you gotta record things, and then you've got like meetings, and then you I mean, there's just a lot of different stuff going on all the time.

All the time. And by the time you get done with a day's work, after you've been talking and talking to people and in meetings and you're squeezing all the juice out of your brain you can to make things happen and work in here. And then you go home and everybody's like, how was your day? And I'm like, I don't want to talk about my day. My day is behind me now. I want to just be quiet. I want I want the quiet. And then people think you're mad or that you're upset at the time.

She did because I wasn't talking back. She was like, What's wrong? And I was like, I just don't even want to answer. Right. Because nothing's wrong, but I don't even want to say that nothing's wrong. Right.

It's too much effort. And so I I did tell her, I go, nothing's wrong. I just want to be quiet. Right. And I, it's fine if you want to talk, but just don't respect a response.

I was totally honest. I go, I just don't have anything left to give. And she goes, Oh, okay.

And she took it offensively in it. Of course. It's nothing against you. I just, I just want silence.

Right. She was having none of it. She couldn't ride in silence, even when she was mad. She was just like, no, I gotta tell I gotta tell you about this.

And I'm like, and that's where I'm like, I will I will drive to work in silence in the morning or after work. I'll just because it's just the calmness. It's been chaotic. There's all this stuff, there's all this noise, all this blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then it's like, okay. I get in my truck and it's quiet.

And I go, okay. Breathe a little bit. And I get home and I walk outside and I and I go into the garden and I hear the plants not saying a word.

And then you and then I come home.

Well how was your day? And it's not that I don't want to like be excited about seeing you. I am. I just don't want to talk. I just like the quiet sometimes. That's all. See. Who can relate?

I get it. I get it now. I didn't at first, but I get it now.

Yeah, yeah. I mean, it took you a few years of being in this business and then having a forward-facing job after this one where you've got to deal with people and phone calls and walk-ins and all that stuff.

And be the best version of yourself. Right. All the time. It's a challenge. It's yeah. And so when you get home, you're like, can I switch off? Right. I just want to I just want to not. Just shh. Just I just I just can't even. Right.

But don't do that around your sister, because she will think you're mad every time. Why aren't you talking? I have nothing to say. Why is he upset? He's not. What's wrong? Nothing.

It's all good. It's just quiet time. It's quiet time for Josh.

Just QT for Jason. Do I need a sign? I guess that says it's quiet time. Maybe. I'm not mad.

I'm just being quiet. I need that. And put a shirt.

Duct tape on your mouth. Well, I might want to add a thing here and there. I don't know. It's not exclusionary. It's not like if I if I don't say anything, I can't say anything. It's fine. Anyway. All right. Okay. I get it now. Congratulations.

I asked the kids last night, hey, if you when you move out and you've been gone for a while and you go, Oh, I really, really crave this thing that my mom made or my dad made. Yeah.

I heard you ask the question. I never heard their answers though. I'll tell you. Okay. The answers. So this is they don't live at home. They're old people. Then they go, man, my mom used to make the most delicious pancake. Did Emory say pancake?

Beck's, I asked Beck first. He said, for me it would be enchiladas. For you, it would be breakfast burritos.

My breakfast burritos are not hard to make.

I know.

They're a little time consuming early in the morning, but they're not, it's not hard. No. Yeah. Okay.

And out of the things you make, that's probably one of the the most basics. And anybody can do it. I could do it. I can do it. I've made similar breakfast burritos. But he really loves your breakfast burritos. Okay. Every said, for me, it would be pasta. And I go, that's also easy.

But like your spaghetti or she's a spaghetti, but also spaghetti with meatballs, but specifically the the spaghetti and meatballs with the cheese inside of them. We made those one time. That I've only made one.

We made one time. But They were delicious. They were, but I made them one time.

And you made them not.

I know. I made them one time.

I don't think they understood the assignment. And then she said for you it'd be steak or your smash burgers.

Again, I mean, I'm just seasoning a steak and cooking it. Or I look, I I'm proud of my burgers, but I I've got it's not like a big secret.

I think maybe they just answered quickly and they didn't think about it. Like maybe I should ask again and say, hey, think about it for a minute. Like I'll give you a couple of days to think about it.

What did you expect them to say?

I didn't expect them to say anything.

Well, well, I mean, like, did you did you think that they would say something else?

Uh no, not necessarily.

Like, I really miss your tuna fish sandwiches. Ew, yeah. No. It's a special. A special way you make it.

Well, when the kids were little, I did I cooked a lot. I don't necessarily cook much anymore because you do most of the cooking because you like it.

But I You made a delicious potato soup last night. Oh, yeah. That was a early Christmas miracle.

Why? Because everybody liked it. Everybody liked it so much that there was barely any leftovers. Right. That rarely happens in our house. Right.

That was an early Christmas miracle.

It's a it's a Christmas miracle when your entire family is like, this is good. Yeah. Because usually there's one that's like, I don't like this. But for your entire family to be like, yeah, I'm going back for more. Yeah.

Potato soup. There was barely enough left for like one of the things.

No, I took it for lunch today. Made it for you. Kind of sad that there's not more. Well, I know. And I'm it's my own fault because I kept going back for more last night.

I know. It was delicious. Good. And it'll be good for lunch today. Yeah, but look in my bowl. I know.

Scraping every last bit I could. I I heard that. It's it'll be fine today. Leftovers aren't ever as good as the original. That's not always true. It is always true.

No, sometimes when all the flavors get to like sit and congeal a little bit, it makes it better. And then you heat it up in the microwave, and that gets all the little uh protons and neutrons getting all excited in there, and then it gets all hot and delicious. Yeah. I don't know.

It's rare that I find leftovers better than the original.

What about your like uh like bean and peppers dip thing? That thing gets way better over time.

Oh, yeah. That cowboy caviar? Whatever you call it. That's what it's called.

Yeah, that is better over time.

The longer it sits, the better that becomes. You're right about that. There are certain things that dips don't count as leftovers. Dips are just meant to be in the fridge and you pull out repeatedly. Wait a minute.

I agree with you to a point, but if you take a dip to a party and then you bring dip home, is that not leftover dip? Is it cold or is it hot? Either way. If I make a buffalo dip and there's some leftover and we bring it home and heat it up on a bowl or a plate, is that not leftover dip? No, it's just dip. It's just it's post-party dip. It's different.

Postparty dip is not leftovers. It is. It's not, no, it is not. Disagree.

No way. If it's been to a public party, that's a leftover. If you made a dip to put in the fridge and take out and snack on, that's dip for the f that's a fridge dip.

Yeah. That's not leftovers. But if you made a dip for a party and brought some home, that's leftover dip. Nah, it's just dip.

No. They don't like it doesn't all of a sudden become fridge dip. It's leftover dip. It's been out on a counter for a party. It's leftover dip. I if it's cold, it's different.

I feel like if it's cold dip or hot dip, if you're heating it up, if you're reheating it up, then it's a leftover. But if it's a cold dip, not a leftover.

What about like a spinach artichoke dip, which is good hot, but also good cold.

That's what I'm saying. If you have to heat it up, it's a leftover dip. If it's cold, just regular. No, you don't make any sense. I was looking around the house yesterday, going, oh, it was so much to do. Like there's just always stuff to do around your house. Like windows always need washed, counters always need cleaned. Stuff needs to be dusted all the time. I was trying to cook dinner last night and I just kept stepping on stuff and I just kept saying, somebody's got to sweep. Someone needs to sweep.

I don't think anybody swept. No, duh. But then I get I get a little bit overwhelmed sometimes because the amount of stuff that you just always have to clean is exhausting. And then once you have it clean, it's clean for a day, and then you're like, oh, I'm good.

You are. And then a week later, it's like disgusting again. So you're like, this is stupid. And who wants to spend their time cleaning? Nobody. Not it.

No, not it. So then I was like, I'm trying to live in this like chill a chill zone where I go. How's that going? So good. Uh not good. Okay. But I also was just thinking last night, like, I don't necessarily want to live in a spotless house, but I definitely don't want my house to be stinky.

I don't want people to Do you think we have a stinky house?

Sometimes I come home and I go, why is that smell?

Well, it's probably because the garbage needs taken out. Okay. And that happens. Because what here's here's what happens. You get busy, you're cooking, you're throwing stuff away in the garbage, you eat dinner, you do the dishes, you go to bed, you wake up, you leave the house, you come back home from work, and you go, I should have taken that garbage out last night. Yeah, I know. That's it. All that kind of stuff. It's just that.

Or yeah, there's just like maybe some dirty dishes in the sink or something. But rarely. More important than a clean house for me is just having house that's welcoming. I want a house that's welcoming. Sure. Do you think we have a welcoming home? Yeah. Okay.

Do I think uh you could probably invite people over more? Sure. Maybe you could invite.

That's the problem, isn't it? I don't necessarily invite because I always go, Oh, my house isn't clean enough. We can't have people over. It's too messy. All the time. And so then it becomes not so welcoming because nobody's ever invited over.

Correct. And as many times as I tell that to people, our friends that are like, hey, we want to come over and see your garden. Hey, we want to come over and try Joshua Smash Burgers that you're always talking about. Oh no, the house isn't. Right. It's not clean. But it's not not clean. Right. It's not welcoming. Right. That's what I'm saying.

I don't, I don't know. I think you give it a lot of thought that it doesn't deserve. I know. More than anything. I think it's just it's this doesn't deserve to have all this attention. No, it doesn't.

You're right. We live there for one. So our stuff exists there. I think you're like, well, because I think you you think we have a like should have a model home that's just like we have furniture. We have a TV. We have fancy little artworks and statues and nothing that is our own personal stuff.

We have no statues. Exactly. We should get some statues. Of what? I don't know. That'd be cool. I want some statues. Like of a suit of armor? No. No. Like tall statues? No.

Small statues on pedestals are going to get knocked over and broken.

Like a a bust of someone, you know, just like the Yeah, I don't know what a bust is. The neck up. Yeah. Of who? I don't know. Somebody's so random.

Someone random, like Steve Buscemi. Yeah. Why would you want a bust of Steve Buscemi? Because that's hilarious. I'm going to look right now. How much does a I mean, you know, sculptors. You could just ask for one.

Yeah, but they're they're they're legit sculptors. What do you mean? They spend a lot of money.

You don't want to support an artist and have a piece of art from a local artist.

No, I absolutely do. But they charge a lot of money. And rightfully so, because they're not going

to be able to do that. Do you think a Steve Buscemi bust is going to be cheap?

I don't necessarily want Steve Buscemi. You said someone random. Well, yeah, but Christopher Walken. I want somebody that you can't tell who it is, and then people will come over and say, who is this? And I'll be like, you don't know who this is. I can't believe you don't know who this is.

The lead singer of some obscure band.

It's kind of my new favorite thing. Maybe we just sculpt one ourselves. Oh, I'm no good. You haven't tried. Nah. I'm good. Where can I buy? Oh, here we go.

Where are you Googling?

Where can I buy? Busts.com.

I don't think that's a real website, and I wouldn't recommend going to Timu. Oh, Timu. Okay. All right. It's gonna you're gonna not read the measurements, or it's gonna be in metric and you're gonna get it back, and it's like it fits in your hand, it's 3D printed. Come on.

There, hold on. There is some on Amazon too. You could get a tiger bust. Like of a tiger.

Oh, not Tiger Woods. No. I'm just trying to understand. What do you mean? You don't know who that is. That's Tiger Woods. Why do you have a bust of Tiger Woods?

67 bucks for that tiger. Wow. Pretty cheap. Doing it. If you ever find yourself in a horror movie, I'm gonna tell you how to survive.

Oh I'm pretty sure there was a scary movie. That didn't about yeah. What was it called? Something about like scream that was like, don't say, I'll be right back. Like, don't leave the room, like don't be off on your own.

Yeah, they didn't even follow their own rules. No, that was the point. Okay. It says don't investigate the noise. Yeah. Don't you don't need to know why. Just leave it alone.

I'm leaving the house. When I was little, yeah. My sister, mind you, is seven years older than me. Way older than you.

So old. She and I were home alone. So I was probably, if I was five, she was what? Twelve. Quick math. Twelve. Yeah. We heard, and we had a small house, but we heard something from the back bedroom. A crash. And she goes crash. Yeah, she goes, you go look.

And it goes, Yeah, she would do that today. She would do that today. Yeah.

And then she grabbed a butter knife and said, I'll guard you. What does that mean? You're you're gonna sacrifice me. Okay. Okay. Don't go in the basement. Uh-huh. Never split up. Yeah. These are all good. Keep your phone charged. Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah.

A 2 % battery Is basically a death sentence. Yeah, you gotta have good numbers. Don't trust the keepy kit creepy kid, especially if they tell you that they have an imaginary friend.

No way. That's who you trust. Because see, that's the the thing about that person is that they're actually the hero, but you didn't know it and you disregarded them.

Oh yeah, yeah, you're right.

It's the one you least suspect.

Leave the doll, necklace, videotape, puzzle box, creepy antiques, exactly where you found them. Don't touch them. Yeah. Don't we hear don't read the weird book out loud. Okay. Especially if it's written in Latin. Oh.

I feel like this needed some creepy Halloween. You should have. I didn't know. I didn't know.

If you try to start the car, there's a good chance that it won't start right away.

Yeah, that's what's going on with cars. Right, here, right, right, right, right, right, and then just in the nick of time, it goes And you're and you're like, I'm so relieved, and then at the window, scare.

That's the other thing. If the car starts, just foot to the floor. Yeah, go. No looking back, no speeches, no arguing about where to go. You just drive. That's right. That was good cart.

What does yours sound like when your car won't start? No. No. No. Ready? Hey. That's it. You did it. And when it starts.

You do it first. I just did. No, I can I have to hear it again.

Just think about what does it sound like when you start your car in the morning.

You put the key in. No, I'm not.

And then you turn the ignition and it goes. And then you go, oh no, the battery's got a problem. I don't know. I can't do it. And you try one more time and you turn it and it goes. You're Just shaking your head.

I can't. I can't do it. I can't do it. I don't know. Yeah. You just had a sound effect. We were hanging out with our friends, and they have a 10-year-old son. Yeah. And he was like, I'm pretty good at sound

effects. So is Josh. Yeah. So the two of you were off making sound effects. Yeah. And did an airplane. So I like that sound. And he did an alarm. His alarm is fire alarm.

Yeah. That fire alarm is pretty dope. Yeah. I want to become sound effects. It's also a kind of lazy, angry dog. Same sound. Like I'm I'm angry, but also I'm laying down. It's the same noise.

Okay, make the noise of the sound, the car is starting up. I thought you were. No, I can't. I have to hear it. I'll try, but I gotta hear it first.

Just what do you imagine it sounds like?

Just What did you do to the arms of your chair. You lifted them up. You're like, I'm gonna lift these up now. Because I'm frustrated. Okay. That's the worst one. When you just turn the key. Nothing.

Yeah, there's no life in that end. Yeah. You're just toast. All right. It ruins the day, doesn't it?

Well, these were good tips. Stay safe out there.

What do you think the easiest phase of parenting your kids has been? Boy.

They all have their own challenges and their own easy moments. Um infant was uh crying and screaming, and our daughter particularly would not be separated from you. Uh so there's

that. Uh but for me, pretty easy. Because she only would go to you. Like she literally could not be separated from you. Big separation anxiety is a as an infant.

Um that was the hardest one for me. That was the hardest phase for me.

But our son was uh the opposite. He was super easy. But uh my favorite probably still. I mean, yeah, that's hard to say because I I love where we're at now. Uh with you know, young adult

children. It's it's a totally different thing. But uh, you know, the the days of toddlerdom and that like three to seven, good times. Lots of fun. Why learning new things, all the exploration of it, the elementary school stuff, like starting new things, like discovering new things, playing, going to the park, like all that like fun. Yeah, like toddler to young elementary school stuff, like up to like second grade. Really fun times. That's interesting you say that. But I like where we're at now. I'm cool with it.

I think every every stage has had its challenges, but also its strengths. There's been fun moments in every stage, but there's also been some difficulty in every moment. I think the easiest phase was I was gonna say pregnancy.

Prior to, except that you were incredibly sick every day through both pregnancies. So all the time. So I don't know that that's the right answer either. I don't think it is. I don't know. It all is uh it's all new every day, so you never know what you're going to encounter. You sure don't. You go like, okay, well.

And then you go to bed and you go, I could have handled that better.

Nah, I handle everything very appropriately every time. You're winning at parenting? Sure. The best. No. Do you want a trophy? No. No. I don't think uh I don't think anybody really has it like locked

down. I think we're all just trying to figure it out. It's the first time for everybody all the time. Your kids are learning something new, but you're also learning something new alongside of them every single day. You're like, oh, well, this is

new. Like now we have uh relationships that have to be balanced, and you have uh, you know, stresses and sports, and you're like, this is the first time I've been uh the parent of uh of a kid in sports. That's new. Like everybody's just trying to figure it out. And uh you model behavior of those around you, and sometimes that's not the greatest solution. Sometimes you go, I didn't really care for the way that felt after I did the thing that I saw someone else

do. That how are they okay with that? Like I've seen that happen where I've gone like I wouldn't have handled that the same way you did. I parent differently. Okay. Good to

know. But yeah, it works for them, maybe. I don't know. Everybody's just everybody needs a little bit of grace, you know. I think that's where we're at in the world. We can give people a break. Look at you. Yeah, Ted Talk. And now I will retire.

I just asked an easy question. You're like, let me stand on my soapbox and tell you. Mm-hmm. Because I have one. You got it all.

At one point, you called it my platform and said I should use it for good. So ta-da. All right, something very cool coming up on the 24th of this month. It's the great pumpkin drop with stones, Kia. This is gonna be a lot of fun. And uh somebody's gonna win a $500 Visa gift card, which is a pretty exceptional prize. I think that's

awesome. Yeah. I could use $500. No

kidding. Here's the uh here's the deal. We've got 16 pumpkins that are all full of uh prizes. One of them has a $500 Visa gift card inside, but all of them have

prizes. And uh we are going to gather 16 uh lucky qualifiers uh that will get to select a pumpkin. We're gonna take it 50 feet in the air, we're gonna drop it from the sky. Cool, and then there's a prize inside. It's it's uh it's gonna be a mess.

It's the great pumpkin drop.

You could get the expensive candy. Yeah. Good.

All right. Uh go sign up to win. Good luck.

Do you want to guess the most popular Halloween costume the year that you were born?

Okay, 82. E. T. You were born in 82? Yeah. It was ET. Yeah, it was E. T. Yeah. Had to have been.

I forgot what year you were putting. You did.

It had to have been because that's when the movie came out, and it was massive. Yeah. So of course E.T. was the biggest way. 81, so prior to that. Ronald Reagan. No. It wasn't the Reagan mask. No. A lot of people like that Reagan mask. The Reagan mask, the Nixon mask.

Those came out until later.

Yeah, I guess they were kind of rubber masks, weren't they? Yeah. Because the ET mask and the He-Man mask and the mask mask and the uh, you know, any of the like rainbow bright stuff, like it was just a plastic with a little elastic string that went over your face, and then you had broke. Yeah, and then you had that stinky plastic poncho. And that was it. I'm an E-Man.

Costumes have come a long way.

That is very true. Do you want to guess again with the most popular one? 81. Uh-huh. Uh it wasn't a political figure. It was not. It was a care bear. No. Good guess, though. Indiana

Jones. No kidding. Hat and a whip. Little satchel. Nice whip sound. Thank you, Josh. I was nervous about it. Were you? Okay. It's the sound of opening a can of soda.

What costume do you remember dressing up for?

I I have pictures of me dressed uh kind of as a clown. I have pictures of me dressed as uh as mask, which was its own show. Were you ever like the Jim Carrey mask? No, no, not the mask, mask. I don't know what that show is. Yeah, that's

fine. You don't have to. Uh Thundercats. The movie was share. No. Oh. It wasn't a movie. It was a cartoon series called Mask. I don't know that show. It's fine. You don't have

to. Okay. Uh Transformer stuff was big. Uh probably a He-Man in there. Uh I'm basing this all on pictures. I don't remember. Right. Like I know you remember being a pound puppy.

But that's really the only one I remember being. Yeah. A pound puppy.

You've always wanted to do that like half man, half woman costume. Always. I don't know why you haven't done it. You're a grown adult. You could do it. But you're still like, nah, I don't have the stuff.

Well, yeah, it takes some effort. And so I just haven't done it because it really. You've just always wanted to do it. Always. I just have always thought that costume was hilarious.

Like where did that originate? I don't know. Like you stand one way and like, who's that guy? And then you stand the other way. Who's that lady? Well, they're one in the same. Yeah. And a beard painted on.

It's just half of you is hidden by the Yeah.

Or you just standing around the spacing things.

Yeah. I think it's so funny. I don't know. You should do it. Not this year. This year I have got I know. I have an idea.

Yeah. I've got to come up with something.

I also really like the costumes that are just a joke in themselves. Like one year I was uh Beyoncé. Beyonce.

And you were Beyonce wig with a B body. And so you were Beyonce. Yeah. No, I get it. So funny. I'm Beyonce.

Right. No, my shirt had Yonce.

And then I had beautiful. You were a you were a bit, but you were in a yellow, you had a yellow and black tool uh tutu thing. And yeah, and then you had the wig and you were Beyonce. And then we didn't come up with it until later, but I should have gone as Jay-Z Bra. Jay Zebra.

Yeah. Which would have been very good. Nobody's still those ideas. Those are mine.

Yeah, but that was a long time ago.

I know, but I still have to be able to do that. Beyonce and Jay Zebra were pretty great ideas.

Oh, that makes me laugh.

Yeah. No, I like a good pun. Me too. I'm good with that.

This year I have an adorable costume. I know. I'm excited. I brought it up to Emory. I told her about it. And she goes, Well, what's dad gonna go as? And I said, I'm not dressing up with dad anymore. Because I always have these really cool ideas, these couple ideas, and you go,

no. So I've given up. I'm dressing up as my own self this year. You're dressing up as yourself. No, I'm not dressing. Just dressing up alone. It's a one-character show. You have to find your own costume. Okay. If you want to participate, I have a million ideas you could go as to accompany you. Yeah. But you won't. Because I'll tell you an idea, and you'll go, no.

I think I know what I'm gonna be. I'm gonna accompany you, and you're not even gonna know it. And then you're gonna be like, why are you that? And I'm gonna go, uh you figure it out. Figure it out, and you let me know when you do. And then when you figure it out, I'll be like, see how genius this was? But uh, I want to win a contest. If they're doing one here like they did last year, and I took second, I gotta go for the crown. Okay. Do you have I don't know if they're doing one here. I'm just saying.

Oh, they should, because we did it on my own. There's a good time.

Last year I was a little bit lackluster because I was like, Oh, I don't have my. I'm just gonna go as blackluster.

You went as me. Yeah, that's not lackluster, and you put in effort. I didn't. You you hurried and like got ready. I didn't get to see anything. Like you did an unveiling. I didn't win any prizes. You put up a curtain. I couldn't even see you all morning while you were getting ready.

Yeah, I had a bald wig and it's not bald wig.

It's a bald cap. Come on now. A bald wig. I had a wig. I just cut all the hair off of it. It was a bald wig. What do you lackluster? I didn't win any awards. So I'm bummed out. Yeah, well, I dressed as Charlie Brown and won second place, which uh I already look like the guy.

I have a really fun pun. It's a Charlie Brown pun. I'm not gonna say it on the radio because I don't want anybody to steal it. Don't steal my ideas. One of the one of these days. It's in my phone, so I can remember. It's hilarious. Okay. And one of these days I'm gonna do it. What is it? I can't say. Okay. Someone's gonna steal it.

All right. Don't tell me then. Would you rather this or that?

Would you rather spend the night in a haunted house or sleep alone in a cemetery?

Oh, I feel like you asked this a year ago. Or something similar. Maybe. I mean, look, it's Halloween. It's Halloween time. I mean, you got like 24 days of this. You're gonna keep this up for 24 days? You might have got a little bit ahead of

yourself. What the hell of it? Well, because I'm I know. all you're

fine. Would I rather spend the night in a cemetery alone? Yeah. Which sounds

fine. It's just sleeping outside. Okay. Or what was the other one? Uh haunted house. Spend the night in a haunted house. Yeah. But there's other people. Or are they both alone?

No, you're both alone.

Yeah, I'm gonna go to the cemetery. Me too. Sleep outside in the cemetery. Me too. It's just gonna be nice.

I feel like you have a better chance of escaping. I feel like in a haunted house. Nothing's happening. No, listen to me. I feel like in a haunted house, it feels a little trapped.

Like a haunted attraction or something that has been deemed as haunted. A haunted house.

Something that's been deemed haunted.

Not like something that was made to be a haunted house, like a spook alley walkthrough. No, something. Yeah, I'm just trying to understand.

Like an old abandoned something. And then people have said, yeah, that is haunted. And they have brought haunted like ghost hunters to check it out. Ooh. Spooky. So it's that.

Look, uh, either one of these is fine. I just like the idea of sleeping outside because that sounds nice.

I just don't want to feel trapped inside a house. I like it.

You didn't say you would be trapped. You just have to spend the night there.

I feel trapped in there. Yeah. If I need to make a quick getaway, it's gonna be tricky. Sleep on the floor by the front door. I'm just saying, I'm picking the outside. Okay. Well, let's

go. To the cemetery? Yeah. You can't. It's

illegal. You can't just sleep in a cemetery. Then why'd you bring it up? Because it was a would you rather? Oh, okay. Well, would you rather this or that? I was gonna talk about something else, but I'm gonna change it to something else.

You have something written down, but you want to talk about something else. Yeah. What do you want to talk about?

Okay, I was gonna talk about how you got down my Halloween decorations That's right. two days ago.

Uh quite a few, yeah. It feels like over the weekend. And they've just been sitting. Yeah, you were like, I really want to get those down and decorate. Yeah. And then I see like I'll walk in a room and I'll go, oh, look, a new skeleton appears. It's a slow process. Another

bat. Look at that. No, I haven't gotten out anything. No, but there's pumpkins that have shown up. You've got you've got one bin that is just pumpkins. I like pumpkins. I know. It's a lot of pumpkins, and you put the whole top of the piano is pumpkins. Is that happening? Mm-hmm. Some point?

When I can get around to it. Oh. But I just looked down the hall at the Z103 studio. I know. And she's got it all decorated so cute with fall.

No. We normally decorate uh for Christmas. The studio goes full Christmas at Christmas time. Uh, which is right around the corner. And uh, and so that's something that we do, but we don't do the other holidays.

When I first started here, I made a point. We decorated for Valentine's Day. Yeah. I don't think we did anything for like the Fourth of July or anything. We might have decorated for Halloween that year. But again, I was young and enthusiastic and new. Four years ago. And yeah.

I was young enthusiastic. I'm so tired. It was four years ago.

I'm just so tired. Yeah.

It's true. It is true. Maddie down the hall is the new.

Young and new and enthusiastic. Yeah, that's right. That's right. She is not jaded. I'm not necessarily jaded. I'm just so tired. Right. Just so tired all the time.

Well, let's just close your eyes. Okay. And just look around the room with your eyes closed. And imagine there's fun decorations. What do you see?

I see some lights.

Oh, what kind?

Close your eyes and look around. Why did you have your eyes open?

This is a thing for you. Go ahead. What kind of lights?

Like an orange or a purple.

And are they like a like a Christmas light style? Yeah. And are where are they at? Around. Around. Just hanging around. Okay.

Some spider webs. Okay. Okay. I'm going to get into it. I'm going to get into it. Because now you visualized it. I just keep looking down the hall and I go, that looks so cute. I like decorating for the holidays. I just need to make a spooky vibe. Be so

tired. I'm so old and tired. I'm going to do it. I'm going to go through my stuff tonight. I'll decorate our house. I'll I'll bring in some stuff for the stud. For the stewed. And then we'll we'll do it upright. Okay. Okay.

Holiday studio decor. Put it on the calendar. So I don't forget. All right. Well, let's wrap up today's show. Hope you have a good rest of your Wednesday. We'll be back

tomorrow. Uh and I do want to remind you, we've got haunted passport, we've got kids' smarts with fat cats, we've got uh a lot going on. So get ready to do yourself some winning. Maybe even tomorrow. We'll

see. We'll see. Sounds fun. All right. Uh we'll be back then. See ya. Have a good

day. Goodbye.
