Earnings and growth matters. So does tech.
Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Thursday, February 22nd.
Plenty of jitters leading up to Nvidia’s earnings report. Was the Genie out of the bottle? Had we seen the last of the enormous gains of a company riding high on AI?
Nvidia said, “hold my beer” and delivered a whopper of a report that beat estimates. $22 billion revenue, a 265% increase. Net income surged 769%. That’s right. 769%.
If the Genie is out of the bottle, she’s casting magic. The company is forecasting current quarter revenue of $24 billion, way ahead of estimates.
Tech is awesome but not always perfect. Many woke up to a nationwide cellular network crash. Down Detector—a reporting service—logged almost 50,000 reports by 7am from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile customers. It’s a reminder that everything doesn’t always work as it should.
