For whatever reason, I have always struggled to pray. And so, as this new year begins and as many of you think about new routines that you wanna give yourself to, especially for those of you who follow Jesus, I wanna invite you to learn to pray the Psalms with us. It's a practice I picked up years ago that really saved, my ability to learn to pray, to speak to God honestly about how I was feeling and what I was thinking. And so every single day on sandalschurch.tv on YouTube, we're gonna be releasing, praying the Psalms, a psalm a day. We started in January 1st and every day you're gonna get a new psalm, but the opportunity to read the psalm with us, to reflect on a phrase, and then to respond to God in prayer, how to pray through the psalms.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:This has been a gift to me in my own journey with Jesus. I pray that it's a gift to you, and so would you join us. Grace and peace. As we continue in praying the Psalms, today, we come to Psalm chapter 8, another Psalm of David. They're beginning in verse 1.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:Join me. Lord, our lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants, you have established a stronghold against your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger. And when I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them?
Pastor Fredo Ramos:And human beings that you care for them. You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands. You put everything under their feet. All flocks and herds and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:Lord, our lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. Man, by way of reflection, you could just tell that that David is in a place of worship where he is just mesmerized and caught up in prayer, thinking about the God who has made the created world. Amazed at the moon, the stars. Right? He's just in this moment of prayer taking, taking time to consider all that God has made and then says to himself and to God, man who are we that you're mindful of us?
Pastor Fredo Ramos:Like who are we that you would even care for us? In light of all that you have to do God, in light of all of the the beauty and the wonder that is declared and displayed in your created world, you actually stoop down and and you care for us. And then David also reminds us that that we are made uniquely by God and positioned to rule and to reign in this wonderful place that he has created. And so what an opportunity for us to reflect on the beautiful truth today that in light of all that God has on his to do list, he does not neglect us. He's still very mindful of you today.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:He's still very aware of all that you have going on, and and he's got a position of care, a heart of compassion for your needs today. And so as you take a moment, just think about the world around you, all that is happening, and God is intimately aware of all those things and far more intimately aware of all that's happening in your mind, in your heart, in your soul. And so Jesus, we hear you reminding us today that you care for us, that in the grand scheme of this world where animals roam and birds fly and fish swim and people live life, you are still aware of us today. And so we name to you our needs, the concerns of our heart. And God, would you help us by the power of your spirit to receive the invitation to rule and to really steward our lives well today, knowing that you've invited us to rule this world in a way that is with love, that is with wisdom, that is with an understanding that you are the God over everything.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:You are majestic today. And so would you help us to live a life that reflects that in Jesus name. Amen. Grace and peace. Stay tuned for Psalm chapter 9.
