Warm welcome. The book of Numbers starts with God speaking to Moshe in the desert, highlighting the only paschal sacrifice brought by the Jewish people. The Torah doesn't follow a strict chronological order, even though history itself does.
Rashi teaches us that the paschal sacrifice should be offered after the sixth hour, and we must review the festival laws 30 days prior. This preparation is essential to embrace the festival season fully.
The cry of every Jewish soul, "Why should I be persecuted?" echoes the desire for inclusion. Holy sacrifices must be pure, and there’s an opportunity for those who missed the initial offering to bring a makeup sacrifice a month later. It's a reminder that it’s never too late, and everyone is welcome back.
The second month, Iyar, connects to Pesach. Even if Pesach has passed, and despite the manna beginning to fall from heaven on the 15th of Iyar, the connection to the paschal sacrifice remains.
