In honor of Black History Month, we'll talk about Mary Mahoney. She graduated from the Boston-based New England Hospital for Women and Children's Training School in 1879 and was the first black woman awarded a nursing degree. She also was a part of the women's suffrages movement, and she was the first woman to register to vote in Boston following the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
