OK Solberg:Spring wheat $5.44 a bushel, 550lb steer calf $4.97. Butcher hog in Iowa 62¢ a pound, and a 100lb fat lamb in Billings $2.74 a pound. But guys, there's more, much more.
OK Solberg:I like trivia. I like it a lot. Today, we're gonna hear some trivia covering many different topics. And if you like trivia, here's some trivia from the Bible. And this is information to Noah from God on the measurements of the ark.
OK Solberg:Listen, as I quote, this is how you are to make it. The length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. Genesis 6:15
OK Solberg:So a cubit is about 18 inches so that's roughly 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet tall about the length of 1 1/2 football fields. Okay. Buckle up. In 1969, the Rolling Stones released give me shelter, a song recorded in Los Angeles with vocalist Mary Clayton contributing the high, powerful backing vocals in a single late night session. That same year, Woodstock grew an estimated 400,000 attendees to a dairy farm in Upstate New York.
OK Solberg:The event lasted 3 days and featured 32 different acts. The Dodge Charger became one of the defining muscle cars of the era offering engine options that included the 426 Hemi V8. The PTO, the PTO, PTO, the Pontiac GTO is widely credited with helping launch the muscle car trend in the mid 1960's by placing a large V8 engine into a mid sized body. OK Solberg:The change followed the year of the pitcher in 1968 when run scoring dropped significantly. Next one. The baseball hall of fame is located in Cooperstown, New York. It opened in 1939 and now houses more than 40,000 artifacts. The tradition of the 7th inning stretch dates back to at least the late nineteenth century.
OK Solberg:Fans would stand and stretch to break up the long periods of sitting during games and they still do it today. Quilts were included as entries in the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia. The event marked the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Did you know the average queen honey bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day during peak season? Worker bees regulate the hive temperature by fanning their wings.
OK Solberg:Sourdough bread relies on wild yeast and lactic acid bacteria. Some sourdough starters have been maintained continuously for decades. Did you know the Dutch oven was named after casting techniques developed in Netherlands in the 17th century? Early American settlers adopted it for open hearth cooking, the Dutch oven. Texas has more cattle than any other US state often accounting for over 12,000,000 head.
OK Solberg:The state's ranching history dates back to Spanish colonization in the 18th century. Did you know the 1st commercial microwave oven, listen guys, was introduced in 1947. What was its size? It stood nearly 6' tall and weighed over 700lbs. In 1967, Aretha Franklin released Respect, which became her signature song and a #1 hit on the billboard Hot 100.
OK Solberg:A standard steer in a feedlot consumes roughly 20 to 25 pounds of feed per day depending on size and diet. Feed efficiency is measured by the ratio of feed intake to weight gained. The stitching on a baseball is done with waxed red thread. The color was chosen for visibility. The 1st Super Bowl ever.
OK Solberg:When was it played? We know that. It was played. 1967 between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs, but it was originally called the AFL NFL World Championship Game. The International Space Station travels at about 17,500 miles per hour.
OK Solberg:At that speed, it orbits earth roughly every 90 minutes, hour and a half.
