Hello and welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly where each Saturday we share stories from our archive of performances of the world's best short stories, recorded live in Los Angeles, New York, and London, brought to life by great actors, usually with the writers in the room!

I’m your host, Cedering Fox, WORDTheatre's Founder & Artistic Director.

We had the great pleasure of connecting with Dan Chaon this week. This supremely gifted writer is able to write about grief and heartbreak so eloquently, that I for one and a huge fan. The two stories we are presenting today are dark, beautiful and superbly acted. Dan is not a big talker but he is a brilliant writer. Here now is Dan Chaon to introduce his stories!

Dan Chaon audio plays…

That’s Him, That’s the Guy! plays…WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO PRINT THE WORDS OF THIS STORY. DOING SO WOULD VIOLATE COPYRIGHT LAWS.

Take This Brother, May It Serve You Well plays…WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO PRINT THE WORDS OF THIS STORY. DOING SO WOULD VIOLATE COPYRIGHT LAWS.

Thank you to our generous actors for their deeply sensitive work. These performers donate their time and talents - they show up live to step into stories at WORDTheatre. Thanks to Raul Castillo and Julianna Margulies performing That’s Him, That’s the Guy!... and Xander Berkeley for Take This Brother May It Serve you Well!

Dan Chaon is an accomplished author with 3 short story collections and 4 novels under his belt. His work has been featured in prestigious journals and anthologies such as Best American Short Stories, The Pushcart Prize Anthologies, and the O. Henry Prize stories. His most recent novel Sleepwalk was published in 2022 to much acclaim. You’ll find Dan's books on Bookshop.org/shop/wordtheatre! His last name is spelled CHAON. Thank you Dan!
