[...0.1s]And here we go, welcome episode twenty of the fight science may school podcast. I'm your host coach adam snyder. I'm a lifelong martial artist and performance and recovery coach, and i'm an active anime fighter.Usually we're talking about fight science on the podcast, but today we have a special episode. I'm joined by my beautiful life partner, alexandra. I want to bring alexandra on, i mentioned it on the pot, say hi, alexandra.Hi, haha, [...0.4s] i, i mentioned on the podcast on friday, uh, but we're moving to thailand at the end of the month, whoo, february twenty seventh, and we're going there for ninety days. It's a, [...0.6s] it's been a life goal of ours, a life dream of ours, and [...0.5s] i thought it would be cool to document it. Because i know, [...0.7s] you know, in terms of fight culture, thailand is huge. A lot of people wanna do it, a lot of people do do it.And in terms of just being young and traveling, experiencing living life, [...0.6s] say it again, in the space i'm in as well like in [...1.0s] yogi culture, yeah, and [...1.4s] diving culture, i feel like it's also like a [...1.5s] normal thing to do, yeah, for sure, yeah, she dives. She's a yogi, very spiritual. I think you need to talk just a little bit louder if that's okay. Yeah, yeah, you cool with that. This is ali's first podcast [...0.8s] experience, so we were talking a little about, it's funny because like [...0.6s] we all have different kind of like personalities. And so like coach adam as a personality is different than like ali's partner, alexandra's partner as a personality. So like figuring out how to have a conversation, how do i talk to coach adam?Yeah, how do you talk to coach adam? And how do i blend [...0.6s] coach adam with partner adam? The fun, it's a fun little coaching calls when i'm in the peanut gallery and talking, and then you blend that pretty well, but it's mainly just [...0.9s] poking fun.Yeah yeah, it's because, yeah, you're off to the side and like you'll make a comment and it pulls me out of like coach mode, but it flows kind of nicely, but podcasting, [...0.4s] yeah, well, just poke, [...0.6s] haha.Podcasting new for me too is only, you know, twenty episodes. Yeah, we've been doing this thing so, but now i'm excited. We only have a short episode, we only about ten minutes. Alexandra's family's flying into town, sister, brother in law, kids, and she's got to go pick him up from the airport. So [...1.0s] quick little quick, little ten minute cast before the family's here. It's windy here in florida, but we want to come on and it's beautiful. We [...0.7s] dog, it's been fucking cold, [...0.5s] feels like twenty three for like a day. It's been rough, it's been rough. How you feeling about thailand? I'm ready, you're ready. Yeah, what are you most excited about? [...1.7s] Probably just the landscape in general, like the cultural difference.I've been in florida for [...0.4s] six years, [...1.3s] so just something new, yeah, different. Yeah, you've done a lot of traveling, but you never went to asia though. No, yeah, and i've always wanted to go to asia. So i feel like, yeah, like you said before, like the life [...0.8s] goal of experiencing that.Hmm, why is it always been a life goal of yours? Like why are you always wanna go to asia? [...1.7s] I mean, i think i was initially intrigued when i was in high school [...0.9s] and i discovered buddhism [...1.1s] and that's what sparked my [...0.6s] interest in thailand. And then i discovered yoga [...1.6s] and then i fell in love with marine science and it's just like [...1.5s] the mecha. Like i was drawn [...0.6s] to [...0.5s] thailand always. It was just always in the back of my must have been like, i saw something when i was young, [...0.4s] documentary, something like that and it kind of just like was [...0.6s] in command. Yeah, probably that's what i would imagine. But, yeah, i've always [...0.8s] since i was in high school, i've, like, wanted to travel there. And it's always been, like, on the top of my bucket list. Not that i have a bucket list, but, like, it's always been at the top, and i feel like, [...2.4s] i don't know. I just think that, yeah, just been drawn.Yeah, that's cool, it's cool cause i've always wanted to go to since i was in high school. I would watch tiger muaytai documentaries. I would tell, i told you they had, i don't know if you guys know this, but they would do, like, a documentary series where it was like tryouts for their fight team. And it was like, kind of reality tv, and i would, i would watch tiger more time, like, i wanna fucking go to thailand train, lived there for three months. My parents were always like, why were you set on three months when you were in high school though? That's a good question. I don't really know. Ah, it's because i like have always wanted to travel there. Like i never necessarily wanted to move there, but i, [...0.8s] i mean yeah, i've always wanted to live in a different country anyways. But like [...0.7s] i've always felt like what is a good amount of time to where [...1.4s] you can [...0.6s] experience enough and not feel like i need more?Like i feel like that's super important when you consider traveling because like yeah, you can always go back to places, but like i'm more of the thought process that like i want to go to [...1.0s] as much as i can [...0.8s] versus like going back to a same place over and over and over. If you go to a place when you're like, that wasn't enough, i need more.Which i feel like i hear [...0.4s] a lot from people that have gone to thailand, yeah, majority of people that have gone to thailand, yeah, not fighters, people that i know like will say like yeah, i went for two weeks, it wasn't enough.Yeah, well, especially to go that far too, it's like twenty four hours of travel, that's true to then go for, yeah, you have to think like a whole whatever potential two days, yeah, of travel [...1.1s] taken away for your trip.So if you're going for two weeks, you have to mind, yeah, those are days, that's what i did, right? We can vietnam and a week in thailand. Do you feel it was enough? No, i mean, obviously no, not at all, barely. What did you like, why [...0.8s] did you feel like? What, like think back to when you went, whatever, a month and a half ago, like a month, a year and a half year, a year, two years ago, two and a half years ago, um, twenty twenty three, [...0.6s] november of twenty twenty three.Yeah yeah, yeah, so think back two years ago to when you went [...0.7s] and when you were coming back, like what were you feeling like wasn't enough?Well, it was, it was for [...0.5s] like mma, should i like a jeff chan training retreat. So it was like part of an event, like a structured thing. Yeah. So definitely not enough time to [...0.8s] explore. And you didn't get to see elephants? I didn't get to see elephants.Nope. I could have. But it was for training, right? So it was like training two times a day. They picked the hotel for you. They picked where you were.Like there was, [...0.4s] it was just like a sampler and there wasn't as much freedom where us now, like we're going to pukat. I mean, it's pretty sick. We have a one way flight. We have a [...0.6s] airbnb for seven days. It's so funny you saying that like we have a one way flight. That's [...1.0s] what i've always envisioned, really. Yeah, [...0.6s] yeah, just double.Yeah, i didn't know that i've always wanna go was a one way flight. And then figure it out [...0.5s] from there. I mean, i'm naturally kind of that [...0.5s] more flowy, wanderlusty type of personality you are.I don't like to have a structure, plan. It makes me, it gives me like so much energy to just be able to allow the [...1.3s] flow of life to occur, however it's going to. Hmm, [...0.4s] so, yeah, i always envisioned that. So, yeah, that's cool.Yeah, i'm excited for it to [...0.4s] the idea of [...0.7s] by just packing everything up and putting in a storage unit, plopping our cats at a very safe house sitter. We're good. Our pets are gonna be good pet sitter.Yeah. And then [...0.4s] just figuring out living once we get there, like we only have a seven day airbnb and then we're gonna get there in scope out [...0.9s] long term. And we'll keep living everyone updated. We'll keep you all updated. And that's definitely opposite of how i function in the past cause i'm very like i would want to know typically like okay, where am i staying? Where we go, honey? What are we doing? I feel fine.I feel great. What do you think that is? [...1.6s] A, being with you for two years, you definitely have helped me relax and [...0.8s] kind of not stress about things as much. And [...1.1s] b, i just know like we're gonna be fine. Like it's gonna be great. We're gonna figure it all out. It's gonna be awesome. It's gonna be fun.It doesn't, especially when you don't have a plan. It allows for more things to happen organically. Like if we had some set thing of where we're living all this, then [...0.4s] something arises, then we're not able to have that flexibility.Like i'm hoping that, like you mentioned, the airbnb that we stay at is owned by a tie couple. Hopefully we can connect with them, network with them, [...0.6s] meet some people through them. And then [...1.0s] if that doesn't work, fine. But like that ability to [...0.6s] create connection wouldn't be there otherwise one hundred percent.Yeah. If we were just like, okay, we're in this hotel for three months, we got this condo for sure, and then [...0.5s] you get to still do the things you wanna do because you have that stability in that sense. And so it's like, if your priority is to [...0.8s] do touristy things and travel to the fifi islands and see elephants and whatever other touristy things are in for cut, then like that might be a good option. But like [...0.9s] for us, i think that the connection is [...0.7s] more important than the tourism.Yeah, one hundred percent. And it helps that we have a lot of alignment on [...0.8s] how we want to live once we're out there. You know, what do you mean? Like we're not there for the tourism. Like we wanna, we wanna live. Oh, not against it at all, it's just not my top priority. No, it's not like we're there to, i wanna be like integrated in [...0.6s] the cold as much as possible because it is a really touristy area. We might jump around to, like we're going to pukat, but we could jump around anywhere, [...0.5s] right?I once we get to know, once we get to the area, like, i, i wanna train at bangtown and i wanna train consistently for the entire time that we're there. But can you not, like, i don't know, so correct me if i'm wrong. But can't you just, like, [...0.6s] train a couple weeks here, a couple.Yeah, yeah, not only one hundred percent, no training negative. No, it doesn't impact my training negatively. Yeah, it just like, as long as wherever, cause, like, it's the same thing with yoga, like, i wanna practice while i'm there, but, like, [...0.6s] it doesn't matter if i'm at the same place no time or not.No, exactly, i don't. It depends where i might establish really solid relationships with coaches that might make me wanna stay at one gym longer then another gym. But, like, on the other side of poo cats tired, you could always go back exactly, yeah, always go back. I don't know. I like that flexibility that, like, [...0.5s] we can just see what feels good.Yeah yeah, it's not, like, feels right. Like, a lot of athletes, a lot of fighters will go, especially higher level will go specifically for a camp.So i'm getting ready for this fight. I'm gonna go to bangtow to prepare in bangtow for this fight, and so that's how long will they go for, like, four weeks, no, four weeks is too short, [...0.5s] like, probably twelve, sixteen to eight weeks like that range. So, like, higher little pros.Yeah okay yeah, good guys in ufc girls, in ufc, a lot of one fc fighters will be over there, cause in asia, so it's [...0.4s] one only really fights in asia, so it's easy to train while you're out.I'm open to whatever, like, works best for you. Like, i'm all about, like, the compromise with it too. Well, it's a balance or it's our trip. It's not my trip, it's not your trip. Yeah, it's really important that you get your diving stuff in corals, dive master, yeah, all of its yoga, but, i mean, it's an island, [...1.3s] so no matter where you go, it's gonna, i mean, there's going to be [...0.6s] better reefs [...0.8s] in specific areas, but, like, there's diving all along the coast [...0.5s] regardless. So, yeah, i'm excited to dive, [...0.8s] take my first breath, [...0.9s] you'll never forget it.I'm gonna crush it. I'm excited you can show me the dive master way. Yeah, we're gonna be dive master, [...0.9s] you need to be instructor to teach, i won't tell anyone, no, [...1.8s] how are you on time? You gotta go, um yeah, i think we have, like, let me map it. I think we have like two more minutes, two more minutes.Okay, sure, well, then we can wrap it up, we can wrap it up here, like i said, a quick episode of podcast, thank you for, let me, let me do this. Okay, we gotta map it, [...0.7s] we gotta see how long we have until the, the tampa airport [...2.4s] again. [...1.6s] Cool, [...3.6s] that thing stays fine. Uh yeah, all right, yeah, we're good.Cool, we can start wrapping it up then. Okay uh, thanks for [...0.4s] making your first podcast appearance, yeah, alexandra, i'm excited to see [...0.5s] how it comes together, yeah, how you ended it. We're just gonna post it.No, as is everything, no, well from the, from the second take, haha, from the second day, we're not gonna do the entire thing. They don't wanna see the first take. They, they don't wanna hear the first take. They might, [...0.4s] you don't want them to hear the first take.Ah, [...0.4s] the first take could be fun. We're not gonna post the first take, haha, but thank you for coming on. I know that [...1.2s] social media isn't your most comfortable thing [...0.4s] in the world, but i appreciate it.I think that's important for the impact that we're looking to have in the brand and life that we're building. It's about perspective, perspective, yeah, yeah, however, the impact setting the right boundaries with it is important as well.Yeah. So [...0.7s] one last thing it was, so i don't think i told you this, but when i sent you this screenshot of [...1.5s] that dm from the person that said that [...0.7s] they [...1.0s] are inspired by the [...0.6s] ai post, [...0.6s] and i sent it to ariana and my friend and [...1.0s] she was like, oh, that's so cute. And i said, [...1.4s] if i can't be making an impact through conservation, at least i can making an impact in another way.So like i feel like that's what it comes down to is like remembering the impact that you could potentially have and that we are having. That's why we do this.Yeah you know, we're doing this to have an impact on, on people's lives, not just fighters, you know like yeah, especially like those, those relationship connections. It's, that's like the [...1.4s] foundation is the impact on fighters, but i don't have that. And so that's where the uncomfortability comes from that makes social media because i have a [...0.4s] preconceived notion of it. Yeah, and it has this taintedness to it. So [...1.4s] reframing it and remembering, like, [...0.5s] the, the why and the purpose and all that. No, you're an incredible human. [...1.2s]I love you, love you too. Thanks for coming on. Woo, we're gonna keep you guys updated and posted. Um, we're gonna start our packing process soon. We're gonna document everything, we're gonna post a lot more content. If you don't follow me on instagram, i don't know if you're listening to the podcast and not following me on instagram.
