The greatest fantasy football league podcast in the history of Saddleback's central connections team
James: Welcome back to another great
week of Well, Well, Well, if it isn't
the Saddleback Fantasy Football League.
I'm your host, James Browning, and joining
me once again, finally, is my co host,
Hannah Browning.
Hannah, why don't you tell us a
little bit about Muffin Monday.
What is Muffin Monday?
Oh, I'm so
Hannah: glad you asked.
Muffin Monday is when you bake muffins
on a Monday, and I have not ever
baked the same Uh, recipe twice, every
Monday, I bake a batch of muffins,
and I feed them to my children
the rest of the week for lunch.
It's really fun.
James: Alright, it's been another
great week of fantasy football.
Let's dive right into the
scores from last week.
We have, starting off, Charnar and St.
Clauses.
And, uh, it looks like St.
Claus has won this one.
Hannah, what are your
thoughts on this game?
Hannah: Yeah, it seems like Jesus has
had a really strong start to the season.
2 0.
Yeah, 2 0.
And,
unknown: um,
James: and, the battle of the cousins.
unknown: Yes.
Hannah: Um, Stop laughing.
unknown: Yes.
Hannah: I think that
In
of Trevor Lawrence's poor
performance, it still wound up okay.
Maybe you don't need a good quarterback.
And I think that's a lesson we could all
James: learn.
You probably don't if you have
Christian McCaffrey on your team,
which, unfortunately, Charnar does not.
So, she is now 0 2, is looking to
make that change this coming week.
Again, her team is not too bad.
I think, uh, Josh Jacobs underwhelmed.
I'm a little concerned about that.
DK Metcalf did okay.
Uh, and really, it was, Just
the incredible performance of
Christian McCaffrey and Rashad
White that really put Jesus in the
Hannah: Yeah, and I think Sharnar could
have probably started, um, Um, uh, Amari
Cooper would have been a good move, but
James: He's hard to trust though
Deshaun Watson as a Cleveland
fan stinks So it's hard to really
trust him,
Especially because his first week, he only
did, let's look it up here, he did six.
Hannah: yeah,
That'd be Good job,
job
James: everyone.
Alright, moving on.
Also now 0 2 is Team Donnis.
And also 2 0 is DaBradleyBear,
scoring the high score of the
No, not the high score of the week
In my heart.
I beat him by one point.
Uh, yeah, but,
unknown: You watch it.
James: Alright, so Bradley's team is
looking pretty unstoppable at this point.
Last week, Lindsey's son predicted
Bradley to go all the way.
And, although I disagreed at the time,
he is off to a hotter start than the
person I predicted, who is now 0 2.
So maybe Lindsay knows something I
don't, or is good at looking at the
Hannah: obvious.
I would give up on Serena just
James: yet.
Okay.
I won't.
But uh, yeah, Bradley's team
is pretty strong top to bottom.
And team Donna's unfortunately had two
players in who did not play last week.
Which is definitely going
to hurt your chances
Hannah: winning.
I went to go text Nellie on Sunday
and I did not have her phone number.
And I realized that we
only have our teams.
James: You should ask me.
I've got her phone number.
Hannah: Oh, sorry
Nellie, I thought of you.
your line up.
James: Yeah, well,
lot
of shoulda, coulda, woulda.
And although she also had DeAndre Swift
on her bench, he did not perform nearly
as well the first week, so it was hard
to justify putting him in, but Eckler
if she had,
with
replace Austin Eckler with DeAndre,
DeAndre Swift, and
Christian Watson with...
Uh, honestly, Marquise Brown, and she
could have pulled off the victory in this
Uh, again, that's, you know, hindsight,
it's easy to make those kind of calls
Hannah: I don't know if she
could have made 150 though.
just a tough
James: if she could have been close,
up next step
Okay, up next, Steppa
Pig and the Phoenix Suns.
Steppa Pig is now 2 0 and
the Phoenix Suns are 0 2.
We have Steppa here in the studio.
Steppa, why don't you share a little
bit about your victory from last week?
It was all God.
That is it.
Alright, with a point to the heavens
and a great press conference here.
Steppa Pig is 2 0 and off to a hot start.
Whereas last year's champion,
Phoenix Suns, is starting a
little bit slower this year.
I, honestly, her team on
paper looks just fine.
It's hard to...
Hard to say whether or not this
is going to be a worrying trend
continuing into the future or
whether this is just a slow start.
Obviously, Cooper Cupp is going to make
a big difference when he comes back.
Maybe, which he may wind up
splitting time with Puka Nokua.
So, speaking of Puka Nokua,
let's move on to Team Serena vs.
Scuppet Master, Hannah.
Really beat down her employee.
Like
just
let her have it.
Like did not go easy on her.
Did not like me.
I don't know if we should inform HR.
Hannah: No, I've already apologized.
I did not mean to beat her that bad.
So we're cool.
Well,
James: it's still maybe a
little bit of an abuse of power.
Hannah: I'm sorry.
Again, Serena.
Please don't give up
James: feel any
Hannah: and if it makes
you feel any better.
Saquon Barkley had a sprained
ankle, so I am, you know, sad about
that and probably I'm not going to
score that much after he scored 27.
Yes, but you know, for next week,
you know, um, the next three weeks,
I think he's supposed to be out and
I am shorthanded on running back.
James: Literally, you could take Staquan
Barclay's whole score out and he still
would have beat her by 25 points.
Hannah: Yeah.
James: Serena, you
don't have to take that.
HR, you know where they are.
They're on teams.
Go ahead and let them know.
I, uh, came out the victor
against Jacob Donnis.
Not because my team was better, but
because Jacob Donnis suffered one
of the most unfortunate losses of
the season so far with Nick Chubb.
Just having his knee annihilated,
just absolutely mangled.
It was so difficult to watch
they refused to replay it on
TV because it was that bad.
Which also was a metaphor for
Jacob's game because he would
have beat me handily without that.
Hannah: Handily, there goes the
entire Browns season Like, it
James: doesn't look good.
Potentially, because somebody picked
up Jerome Ford off of waivers.
And that somebody is...
Hannah: Was it me?
Did I get him?
Lindsey Tun.
Oh, I tried.
I got Puka.
James: Well, the problem is, you are 2 0.
Or, I'm sorry, 1 1.
And Lindsay is 0
Hannah: Congrats, Lindsey.
I'm happy for you.
Take good care of...
What's his name?
Who are we talking about?
James: Congrats, Lindsay.
I'm happy for
Hannah: Ford.
Yes.
James: of...
Jerome Ford.
Jerome President...
Jerome Ford.
What president is Jerome Ford,
Hannah: I have to start
from the beginning.
Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison,
Monroe, Adams, Jackson, Van Buren,
Harrison, Tyler, Polk, Taylor, Fillmore,
Pierce, Buchanan, Lincoln, Johnson,
Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur,
Cleveland, Harrison, Cleveland, McKenzie,
Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson, Harding,
Coolidge, Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman,
Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford.
Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton,
unknown: Bush.
James: Wouldn't it have been
easier to count backwards?
Hannah: I can't.
The funny thing is, is I can't think past
Bush because that's when I learned it.
Even though I literally voted in
all the like elections after that.
James: You also can't count
in your head, dear listener.
Hannah was counting on her fingers
the
that entire process.
So, moving on to week three.
All right.
Let's bring up the scoreboard
for week three here.
And let's work our way up beginning with,
this out after a word from our sponsor.
Bad blocker on here.
Alright, battle of the 0 2's.
Phoenix Suns vs.
Team Donnus.
The good news is, one of you is
guaranteed to come out a winner.
The bad news is, the other is
guaranteed to come out 0 3.
So, who's it gonna be?
Hannah, what are your thoughts?
Um...
unknown: Um,
James: gonna break the
streak, and who is gonna...
I'm
unknown: go
Hannah: with a Lindsey
James: win.
Lindsay win.
All right.
The predictions are actually close.
Team Donna's 110 and Lindsay with 112.
It's really going to depend
on a few factors here.
Number one, Jerome Ford, who
she picked up off of waivers.
Is this going to be
a
big game for them?
It might not.
has a
Hannah: really tough
James: defense.
Tennessee has a really tough defense
and the Browns also signed Kareem
Hannah: Hunt.
I don't think he's gonna start.
I mean, if he plays at all,
like I think for Ford's going
to be the top running back
James: for the
the past two or three years
in a row, Kareem Hunt and Nick
Chubb have split the backfield.
And while Nick Chubb has been the
better running back and scored
more points, Kareem Hunt has
been a viable fantasy starter.
Now,
the
question is, will those Nick Chubb?
Is Jerome Ford the same level
of player as Nick Chubb?
The answer is no.
he close though?
That's going to be the big question.
Just give him a chance.
Okay.
All right.
The other big question for Lindsey
is Brandon Ayuk, who may or may not
play, and we won't know until about
half an hour before game time tonight.
So that is going to be, uh, Make
or break situation for her and
Brandon Ayuk tends to be a boomer
bus player in the first place.
So, either get you 20 points or zero.
But
Hannah: in the first two
games, his average is 40.
Is that right?
James: Uh,
two games, his average is 40?
Is that No.
Hannah: Oh, 15.
Got it.
His total is 40.
Yes.
Oh, wow.
Look at that first game.
32.
James: But again, he may not play.
Hannah: Never heard of
this Brandon guy, but
James: So he plays football, you say?
Hannah: I hope he's okay.
James: Alright, up next, Jacob
Donis versus Team Serena.
Jacob is projected to win
by 12, and he honestly has
predict
highest projections of the week.
Now that's barring, obviously, someone
on his team absolutely blowing their legs
falling off partway through the game.
But, uh, Hannah, is there any
way that Team Serena can pull
off a win from Baby Donis?
Hannah: Yeah, I think that, um, it's
possible, anything's possible, you
know, that's what I love about fantasy
is that you think you know people
and then all of a sudden it's like,
whoa, they had a really good game,
surprisingly, or a really bad game,
so anything can happen and I am.
Really rooting for Serena, because we
did, we, she has a good team, and I
think that she should win a game now.
James: So, a couple of challenges for
Team Serena, number one is Joe Barrow
is questionable to play on Monday night.
That's a big deal because she won't
know whether or not he is able to
play until after all of the Sunday
games take place, should she pull a
quarterback off of waivers, uh, in an
effort to, uh, temporarily replace him.
Now, as her boss, I think it would
be in your interest to let Serena
know that it's okay for her to...
Add or drop players off of waivers.
For example, she still has JK Dobbins
on her bench who is out for the season.
So you might wanna let her know that,
Hey, you can go ahead and let go of him.
He's never coming back.
Okay.
And
Hannah: I feel like we've
had this conversation
James: We are never, ever getting back
together.
Oh
Hannah: no.
I feel like we've had this
conversation before when we were
cleaning out closets and Serena just
is really attached to things and
doesn't like to throw them away.
James: Okay, well, it's not like
you're literally throwing him away.
And
Should
Hannah: we send him a
card and then drop him?
James: You could.
Just, I mean, send him a tweet
saying, Hey, feel better soon.
I had to let you on Fantasy.
I still really like
you as a person though.
Okay,
Hannah: I'll, I'll
James: let her know.
And that way he feels the love as he
recovers from his Achilles being torn.
Okay.
Alright, moving on to the
third game of the week.
St.
Claus's vs.
Steppa Pig.
Now, just like we had the battle
of the zero wins, we have the
battle of the zero losses now.
One of these teams is gonna guaranteed
to come out 3 0, and the other
team is guaranteed to come out with
their first loss of the season.
Steppa Pig, why don't you share
your thoughts on this game.
very nervous, Alright, another great
press conference with Stepa Pig.
Uh, the projections are St.
Claus's 126 and Stepa 122,
with a slight favor for St.
Claus's.
Let's take a look.
Hannah, what are your
thoughts on this game?
Hannah: Um, Well, I think Derrick
Henry is going to have a good game.
If
plays.
How
James: questionable is he?
Limited participant in practice.
He's nursing an injury after playing.
Uh, he'll
Hannah: toe?
I mean, get a band aid.
Like, he'll be fine.
A toe.
Okay.
I think
James: he'll be fine.
I Devante Smith has been a little
wishy washy, and George Kittle has
been underperforming so far this year.
I have George in another league.
Uh, Bijan Robinson has potential to be
the new Christian McCaffrey, whereas
Jesus has the current Christian McCaffrey.
So, this is going to be tough.
Garrett Wilson is playing
against another tough defense.
So, he may be limited
in this game for Jesus.
Chris Olavi, however, may be
just lighting up the place.
We'll wait and see.
St.
Claus's has had the Brown's defense,
which has been surprisingly, uh,
strong fantasy scores so far this year.
Averaging nine,
At least consistent.
Nine the first week and
nine the second week.
Yeah.
All right.
Moving on to, and
Hannah: This is an exciting week,
though, like you pointed out.
A lot's gonna shake down, and...
Our rankings are really gonna
start spreading out, you know,
like there's gonna be more winners
James: More winners and losers,
it is now Scuppet Master vs.
Charnar.
Scuppet Master 1 1 and Charnar 0 2.
Hannah
projected to win by a healthy
margin of 9 points here.
Hannah, why don't you share
your side of the story?
Um,
Hannah: Um, well, it is 2 against
1, so I feel like I'm really...
Up against a tough team this week.
And, um, like I said, I'm
worried about my running backs.
They're a little weak now,
losing my star running back.
And I'm not completely convinced
that, um, Pacheco can fill in the gap.
But, I'm gonna try my best.
James: Yeah,
is in a tough spot,
But,
they are starting Drake
Onden,
who had a great game last
week, and benching Jamar Chase,
which is just an absolute...
nightmare scenario with Jamar
Chase being the, um, first
round for them in the draft.
The hopeful news is that they are
able to get DK Metcalf back, who's
been solid and consistent so far.
Why
Hannah: is Jamar Chase on the bench?
Did he do
James: that.
Hannah: He
James: hasn't done jack
squat so far this year.
Not because of Jamar
Chase, but Yes, yes, yes.
Ask Team Serena about that.
Alright.
That is a shame.
Yeah, crying shame.
And then lastly, German's lifeguard versus
the Bradley Bears to two and oh teams.
Once again, one guaranteed to come out
three no and the other guaranteed to
pick up their first loss of the season.
You know, what are your
Hannah: Well, James, I was going
to ask you, this is your team.
You have been nurturing
it for two weeks now.
what are your hopes and dreams
for this, for this week?
James: I, I think, uh, Bradley's
going to get this one.
One of my best running backs is out.
Aaron Jones.
He's not out, but he's
so questionable that.
Whoa, look at your bench.
It's full of cues.
Yeah, my injuries have been plaguing
my team and nagging little injuries.
So, Aaron Jones and Jacoby Myers
have been two of my best scorers
so far, but have not played.
the last week or so.
Uh, nevertheless, I've been able
to manage to sneak out a couple of
wins and I'm hoping that some of
my starters can't, my new starters
maybe perform a little bit better.
Uh, James Cook had a good game last
week, but again, questionable Brian
Robinson is not protected for very
much, but has been incredible so far.
But is it just a hot streak?
A.
J.
Brown, one of the best receivers
on paper has been real slow so far.
So do I keep them in?
Do I swap them out with
someone on the bench?
Mike Evans has been over, uh,
producing so far from his average
and is due for an aggression back
regression back down to earth.
unknown: Then
Hannah: that's an interesting
choice with the Cowboys defense.
Is that on purpose?
James: They are the best defense
in fantasy football so far.
With 35 and 16, they might
actually be my highest averaging
unknown: Do you want to trade?
James: I would be open
to discussing a trade.
Okay,
Hannah: I've got a lot of wide
James: Yes, so let me know.
We'll talk more about that trade later
on, but in this case, I'm probably
honestly going to have to give it to the
bears because, uh, just health issues.
Um, a little too banged up and, uh,
Bradley is steam rolling right now
with a pretty deep bench as well.
It'll be interesting to see
where things go, but we'll Sorry.
Um, I wish I could believe more
in my team, but barring some major
catastrophic injury, like what led to
my win last week, I think Bradley's got
probably going to take this one home.
Hannah: Wow.
Well, good luck to everybody,
James: really.
Alright, and by the time you're
hearing this, that means that the,
uh, vote for the punishment should
finally be up on the website.
And let me know if you have
any questions about that.
The vote will be finalized by Sunday.
I know it was supposed to
be last Tuesday, but we're
extending it a little bit longer.
So, with that, have a great day.
Have a great week everyone, and
thanks for listening to, well
well well, Saddleback Fantasy
Hannah: Football League Podcast.
James: So long everybody.
unknown: Bye bye.
