Speaker 1:

If you do home services, I wanna say there's no such thing as a slow month. Just unprepared marketing. And that's really the issue. Right? A lot of times, people keep telling me and saying, hey, Chris.

Speaker 1:

You know, it's a slow month. You know, it's a slow season. What can we do? How can we get more leads? How can we get more sales?

Speaker 1:

How can we do whatever? Start preparing ahead of time. Even some of the biggest box stores and retail stores are already thinking about what they're gonna have for holiday specials and things coming up, sometimes years in advance. And I want to inspire you to do the same thing. Start thinking about the next season while it's this season.

Speaker 1:

I'll give you an example. Let's just say you're an HVAC company and it's the middle of the hot months. Right? Why would you talk about furnaces? But what you can do is start creating content and start getting content ready, getting pictures and things like this for those seasons when you're gonna be ready for it.

Speaker 1:

K? So today, I'm gonna share with you three tips to be able to help you continue to succeed online even when you think it might be slow. Again, it's not about being slow, it's being unprepared. And today I'm going help you with that. Of course, if you're new to me, I'm Digital Marketing Coach Chris Heidlebaugh and I help home service companies stop guessing with their marketing and start focusing on getting more leads, more calls, and more book jobs.

Speaker 1:

From digital marketing audits to training teams how to do digital marketing to running your marketing for you, you can learn more how you can work with me at digitalmarketingcoach.com. Okay. So let's get started. So we wanna market before you need the work. K?

Speaker 1:

This is tip number one. K? So what does that look like? Don't wait until your business slows down to all a sudden, like, things are on fire. Like, dude, like like, we gotta do something.

Speaker 1:

Like, there's employees. There's there's payroll. There's dude, stop. K? I really want you to just take a breather and just realize, okay.

Speaker 1:

Maybe we may not be able to do something right now, but what is the next season? What is the next thing for you? K? And and it really depends on the kind of company. You might say it for an example, like, you know, like, I'm in Colorado.

Speaker 1:

K? And, dude, like, you know, even though I've been working with digital marketing and brand agencies, I own my own agency, So I'm on both sides. Right? Because at the same time, eighteen years of those twenty five years I did computer work, marketing, and things like this, I was a construction worker. So from sun up to sundown, freezing cold, and to, like, burning up, you know, you know, it's one of those things where the seasons are there.

Speaker 1:

And when you gotta put food on the table for your family and things like that, you you do what you gotta do. Right? So here's kinda the key thing is is as you know the next season. Okay? So again, like, don't no matter what it is, HVAC, garage door, landscapers, start thinking about what the next season is.

Speaker 1:

Okay? So for an example, landscapers are an easy one because you might say, Chris, yeah. We do landscaping. We do commercial. We do residential.

Speaker 1:

We do x y z, but we don't do snow removal. Why not? Right? You might say, well, Chris, you know, getting a truck and and, granted, I'm not an attorney. I'm not a legal expert.

Speaker 1:

All the difference in commercial policies and blah blah blah. Okay? I'm sure somebody out there is, though. Okay? Could you get a truck with a plow?

Speaker 1:

And that way, the customers that you're serving during your springtime, summertime, falltime also say, hey, you know what? Hey, you're already so amazing. Let's go ahead and work with you during our winter and cold seasons that you're going to plow our parking lots, maybe as your dental office or an attorney or doctor or retail establishment, and you're looking you know, you're gonna, you know, plow their parking lots. You're going to salt, you know, you know, do something with their sidewalks. Maybe you're gonna de ice their parking lot, things like that.

Speaker 1:

See what it cost. Right? Could the investment pay for itself in the next couple years? And then, you know, like, you you can obviously can hire more people or you keep your people busy during that time because, hey, like here in Colorado, for an example, right? There's been some years where it's like super, super mild, super mild winters.

Speaker 1:

And the people that do snow plying are like, oh, man, what do I do? But the people that do like water features and they do retaining walls and they do all the other cool things, artificial turf, they're having any problems at all. Right? So think about your industry. Is it something maybe you do garage door repair.

Speaker 1:

Okay? And you know that the cold months are coming up. This would be a great time to start thinking about, okay. Hey. The little weather strip thing at the bottom, know, the real rubber strip in your garage door.

Speaker 1:

Hey. It's time to fix that. Now you might say, come on, man. A third $20.30 dollar little rubber strip. You want me to promote that?

Speaker 1:

Well, that promotion might turn into, hey. Did you know maybe we could add a garage door opener, or did you know that your garage doors are not insulated? What about upgrading to an insulated door so now, you know, like this doesn't happen in your garage or x y and z. Right? I'm not trying to say take one thing and then like, oh, how can I get more money out of them?

Speaker 1:

Right? Please don't hear that. I'm just saying though that a lot of times when people again, if you see my other videos, it starts with trust. If they trust you and they're like, hey. Look.

Speaker 1:

Dude, this company really cares about me. They they, you know, they did my weather stripping and they talked about how we could add a garage opener and then I don't have to, like, go out and push in a code and this, that, and the other or try to go around the house to let, you know, Frank into the garage. Right? So so there's some ways you can go about it to, you know, really kinda help, you know, help your company with that. HVAC is one of the easiest ones because, again, like, if it's the middle of the hottest times, start thinking about furnaces.

Speaker 1:

And I know that's, like, people are like, dude, come on. Why would I talk about furnaces or furnace repair or furnace installation or furnace filters? Dude, it's it's a 105 degrees outside. Right? We're in Arizona or Las Vegas or wherever.

Speaker 1:

Right? Again, if you don't wanna have slow seasons, you gotta start preparing, and being unprepared is what gets you in trouble. Okay? Alright. So point number two that I wanna talk about is adjusting your message for the season.

Speaker 1:

So it's kinda one of those things where, you know, your message is gonna change all the time. So as you're talking about the hot months, again, with HVAC, you might be talking about air conditioning units and different things and you know? But then as you know is coming up, there's nothing wrong with sending out an email to your current clients and your, you know, past clients and say, hey. Look. We've worked with you in the past.

Speaker 1:

How about, you know, do you guys need help with your furnace? We don't want to be that, you know, your furnace is not working. We offer a maintenance plan or x y and z. So definitely helps even today. Kid you not.

Speaker 1:

So working with a fencing contractor and they do snow snow removal. Right? And it's July. And it's one of those things where like, hey, we need to start thinking about our snow stuff. Right?

Speaker 1:

And these are the things that I preach is, hey. It might be July and, yeah, we're doing fencing or booked up and different things going on, but let's start focusing on what we're gonna do for the the the next season. Right? And and your season might be different. It might be the reverse where you actually do something in the colder months and now you need something for the hot months.

Speaker 1:

Or maybe you're in a city or an area where, dude, it's like Florida and you're like, dude, this is sweet all the time. It's nice. Okay? But it could be maybe you're in a humid area. Maybe you do some sort of power washing for mold and algae and just junk on people's houses.

Speaker 1:

Maybe it's something with roofing where you know there's gonna be hailstorms coming in and just damaging people's houses. Right? Start thinking about these things ahead of time, that way you can educate people. Education is gonna win because that's gonna build trust, especially with hail damage, for example, right? That one's like a really hot topic for people.

Speaker 1:

I mean, you have people come from other states to do like car car hail damage. I mean, everything that has a dollar sign to it. I mean, people just showing up at your property and just like, hey, do you need a new roof? You know, blah blah blah. Know?

Speaker 1:

And they're just scouring Google Earth for, like, whoever has the biggest, like, claim and, you know, it's just hey. To each their own. Right? But it's gonna be one of those things, if you educate people. Hey.

Speaker 1:

Before a door knocker comes knocks, let me explain to you how the hell process works. Right? Or x y z. It goes a long way. So really start thinking about your message before the next season.

Speaker 1:

K? And then number three and point number three is use the slowed down time to build momentum. Okay? You might say, Chris, hey. I appreciate appreciate what you're saying, but we're in an industry where basically we can't work.

Speaker 1:

Let's let's just take for an example roofing. K? I mean, even like myself, like, I did metal roofing and things like this, and, dude, trust me. If it's raining outside or if it is icy, I am not getting up on a metal roof. I've slipped off too many myself.

Speaker 1:

Right? Those little, quarter inch screw heads are not gonna save me. Okay? Here's the thing. So there might be some industries where you might say, Chris, look.

Speaker 1:

This is our downtime. This is our time for family, vacations, holidays, things like this. Hey. I get it. Okay?

Speaker 1:

Use that time to build momentum for the next busy season. Okay? So if you're something where you say in roofing, for an example, just keep with that. And you say, hey. Look.

Speaker 1:

In roofing, do it's hard for us to do things during the during the wintertime. You know, the OSB, the, you know, wafer board, whatever, you know, it's hard to put the, the the felt in and, you know, ice and water shields and this, that, and the other. I care about my team. I don't want them falling off a roof or this, that, and the other. I completely get it.

Speaker 1:

So use that time to start creating content. You know, set up an office, set up something that you can start filming, start creating educational content so that when the time does come where you can get back to work, dude you already got things ready. You can show before and after pictures of projects, you can show all kinds of stuff, can educate people. Take that time to educate, hey, here's the difference between a thirty year asphalt shingle and a forty year. This is the difference between this type of underlayment and this type of underlayment, right?

Speaker 1:

And educate people on that. It's gonna go a long way. So just wanna give you these tips. Wanna be able to help you not have any slow seasons. I definitely think it can happen for you.
