What is WORDTheatre® Weekly: A Short Story Podcast Where the Best Authors & Actors Meet...?

Each week, WORDTheatre® shares a brilliant short story performed live in LA, NY or London by a great actor, usually with the author in the room to hear their story being brought to life. Welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly: The Short Story Podcast where great authors and actors meet. I’m your host, Cedering Fox, WORDTheatre’s Founder & Artistic Director.

You may have noticed we took a little hiatus from releasing new episodes. For the past few months, we have been working nonstop on our big show, The Ocean: Our Liquid Universe, in support of Ocean Rising – we hope some of you were there! Now that the dust is settled, we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming of fresh fiction performed by some of the best actors working today.

In anticipation of James Cromwell's appearance in Still Talking | Celebrating Lore Segal in Performance, at our upcoming event in Manhattan at The Center for Jewish Fiction,we are broadcasting “Mudgirl Saved by the King of the Crows” is a story by the prolific and supremely talented Joyce Carol Oates. It was performed by Tess Harper and James Cromwell on Zoom near the end of the pandemic.

Before we get started, please note that WORDTheatre holds the copyright to these recordings and no portion of anything you hear on WORDTheatre Weekly, our short story podcast, may be reproduced without permission.

Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy Tess Harper and James Cromwell perform “Mudgirl Saved by the King of the Crows” a Pushcart Prize winning story by Joyce Carol Oates.

HARPER AND CROMWELL PERFORM THE PIECE.

You’ve just heard Tess Harper and James Cromwell performing “Mudgirl Saved by the King of the Crows” written by Joyce Carol Oates.
