A student kills at least six at a school outside Bangkok, a Trump-endorsed congressman falls in Tennessee, and Iran moves to close and tax the Strait of Hormuz. We look at each story through Scripture and ask what faithfulness looks like today.

Six people are dead outside Bangkok this morning. The shooter was a student.
This is The Gospel Briefing. I'm Charles King.
Here's what we know. The shooting happened Friday at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, northwest of Bangkok. Royal Thai Police say a student opened fire, killing at least six and wounding several more.
Numbers shifted through the morning. One police spokesperson said three teachers and three students were killed. A deputy interior minister said five teachers died — and that the shooter killed his two grandparents at home before heading to the school.
The Health Minister put the injured at twenty-two, with nine in critical condition. Some of those injuries came from falls in the panic. The shooter later died at a hospital. Police believe the gun was taken from a family member.
One witness described students hiding in a classroom, listening to gunshots from another building, waiting for officers to knock.
Children, hiding, listening. That's the detail.
This isn't an American story, but it is a human one. And Scripture isn't surprised by it. Genesis four. God tells Cain, "The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground." The first murder in the Bible is family against family. Sin has always walked into ordinary places carrying weapons it should not have.

To Tennessee. A Trump-endorsed congressman has lost his own primary.
Two-term Representative Andy Ogles was defeated Thursday by former state Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher. With just over eighty percent of votes counted, Hatcher led by more than six points. That makes two Trump-backed candidates to lose a primary this week.
Ogles had drawn controversy for social media posts — one saying "homosexuality has no place in America," another saying "Muslims don't belong in American society." He deleted the first and blamed a staffer.
Hatcher called him a "show horse." Quote: "Think what President Trump could do if our congressman spent less time talking and more time doing."
That line lands because it's true everywhere — workplaces, churches, marriages. Proverbs fourteen twenty-three: "In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty." The category here isn't left or right. It's noise versus faithfulness.
Now overseas. Iran's parliament is reviewing a plan to ban U.S. and Israeli ships from the Strait of Hormuz, and to charge other vessels up to seven percent of cargo value as a toll. The Trump administration has rejected it outright, calling the strait an international waterway. The U.S. naval blockade of Iran, reimposed in July, continues.
Turkey says an interim agreement could come soon. And on Thursday, Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia injured eleven people — including a four-year-old.
Pray specifically today. Pray for that four-year-old. Pray for the negotiators. James three warns that the tongue "sets on fire the entire course of life." Nations are not exempt from that verse.

Three things. Justice for the grieving in Thailand. Kindness in a political culture addicted to noise. Humility before a God who holds every strait, every school, every vote.
