Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

Beware of procrastination. Do not put off the work of forsaking
your sins and seeking purity of heart through Jesus. Here is where
thousands upon thousands have erred to their eternal loss. – Steps to
Christ, pg. 32
The whirr of computer electronics leaves the realm of my
conscious thought as I focus more intensely on the graphical design
on the screen before me. Now let me see; I would like that font to be a
little bit bigger. Oh, and I need to change the color of the rectangle...
Five minutes later...
Oops! I just erased half of the image. Now what should I do?
Mistakes. They’re a normal part of everyday life, or in the case
of the allegorical but actually very common scenario, digital media. But
what do you do when you’ve made a non-repairable digital mistake?
Here is where you fall back on the tried and true technique of undoing.
On the keyboard, hit the Control key (Command key on a Mac) and
then simultaneously press the “Z” key. Congratulations! You just
reversed your mistake.
Don’t you wish that it were that way in life? Wouldn’t it be
absolutely awesome to just hit a button and undo the mistakes you
wish you had never made? Some people seem to think that’s how
life works. They think that they can do what they want and then
turn around and serve God whenever they feel like it. But this is a
dangerous deception. The Bible teaches that “His own iniquities entrap
the wicked man, and he is caught in the cords of his sin” (Proverbs
5:22 NKJV). In other words, the more someone chooses to sin, the
less they will be inclined to stop sinning. God can save anyone who
desires Him to, but He cannot save someone who doesn’t desire to be
saved. Let us not make the potentially irreversible mistake of putting
off our salvation.
