Where spooky dreams turn into fun nighttime tales...
Enchanted Mysteries by Daisy Streams. Woah. Where spooky dreams turn into fun. Nighttime tales.
Speaker 2:This is the very first story Maria ever told, and it begins in a small town in Texas, where three kids loved spending time together. There was a girl named Maria, and she had two brothers named Jack and Henry. Maria, Jack, and Henry loved popcorn. They loved movies. And most of all, they loved having adventures together.
Speaker 2:One evening, the three of them were watching a movie, eating buttery popcorn, and laughing together. But after the movie ended, Jack looked out the window. He saw something strange in the distance. A small castle stood on a hill. It was dark outside, and the castle looked old and mysterious.
Speaker 2:Jack leaned closer to the window.
Speaker 1:Do you think witches are real?
Speaker 2:Jack asked. Henry's eyes got wide.
Speaker 1:I think they might be,
Speaker 2:Henry said. Maria crossed her arms. I don't believe in witches, she said. But then she looked at the castle again. It did look creepy, a little too creepy.
Speaker 2:Jack smiled.
Speaker 1:Come on, Maria. Let's just go look.
Speaker 2:Henry looked up at the sky.
Speaker 1:It's getting really dark,
Speaker 2:he said.
Speaker 1:Maybe we should go home instead.
Speaker 2:Maria nodded. You're right, she said. We should probably go back. So the three of them started walking home. But as they walked, Maria kept thinking about the castle.
Speaker 2:What was inside? Why was it there? And why did it look scary from far away, but almost beautiful up close? Later that night, Jack and Henry went back inside the house. They watched another movie, ate more popcorn, and started playing a board game.
Speaker 2:It was chutes and ladders in case you wanted to know. But Maria could not stop thinking about the castle. Finally, she whispered to herself, I want to discover what's inside. So Maria quietly walked back toward the castle. The moon was bright above her.
Speaker 2:The wind blew softly through the trees. When she reached the castle door, she took a deep breath. Maria said. I wonder what will happen when I open this door. Then she pushed it open.
Speaker 2:Maria stepped inside. And to her surprise, the castle did not look abandoned at all. It looked like a school. There were desks, there were books, there were children walking through the halls, and every single one of them was wearing a witch hat. Maria blinked, then she blinked again.
Speaker 2:What is this place? She asked. A girl nearby smiled. This is witch school, the girl said. Maria's jaw dropped.
Speaker 2:An actual witch school? Maria asked. The girl nodded. Maria still didn't believe it. She thought maybe it was just a regular school where everyone wore costumes.
Speaker 2:But then she saw students waving magic wands. Books floated through the air. Brooms swept the floor all by themselves. A pencil drew a picture without anyone touching it. Maria gasped.
Speaker 2:Okay, she whispered. Maybe witches are real. Just then, a kind witch teacher walked over to her. She wore a tall purple hat and carried a sparkly wand.
Speaker 3:Hello, Maria, said the teacher. Would you like to join us for a lesson?
Speaker 2:Maria looked around the magical classroom. She was nervous, but she was also excited. Yes, Maria said. I would. The teacher smiled.
Speaker 3:Wonderful. Today, we are learning how to make a magical fidget spinner appear.
Speaker 2:Maria tilted her head. A fidget spinner? The teacher nodded.
Speaker 3:It is a tiny magical fidget that can spring through the air and land right in your hand.
Speaker 2:Maria held out her hands. She closed her eyes. She tried very hard to concentrate. At first, nothing happened. Then she tried again, and again.
Speaker 2:Suddenly she felt something soft and wiggly land in her palm. Maria opened her eyes. There it was, a tiny glowing fidget spinner. Wow, Maria said. This is so cool.
Speaker 2:The teacher clapped.
Speaker 3:Well done, Maria.
Speaker 2:Meanwhile, back at home, Jack and Henry were still playing chutes and ladders. Jack moved his game piece. Henry rolled the dice. Then suddenly, one of their drinks floated into the air. Jack froze.
Speaker 2:Henry froze. The drink floated across the room, out the back door, and into the backyard. Jack ran after it. Henry followed. But the backyard gate was too high to climb over.
Speaker 2:The boys stared at each other.
Speaker 1:That was weird, Jack said. Very weird,
Speaker 2:Henry said. Then they slowly walked back inside and kept playing their game. Back at the witch school, the teacher turned to Maria.
Speaker 3:If you want to become a true witch, the teacher said, you must learn how to levitate.
Speaker 2:Maria looked down at her shoes. Levitate? She asked. How do I do that? The teacher smiled gently.
Speaker 3:Be calm, be concentrated, think about floating.
Speaker 2:Maria closed her eyes. She breathed in. She breathed out. She imagined herself becoming light as a feather. At first, nothing happened.
Speaker 2:Then her feet began to tingle. Then her toes lifted off the floor. Then her whole body floated up into the air. Maria opened her eyes. She was flying.
Speaker 2:Only for five seconds. But still, she was flying. The teacher cheered. The students clapped. Then the teacher gave Maria a trophy, a witch hat, and a witch costume.
Speaker 3:You did it, said the teacher. Welcome to witch school.
Speaker 2:Maria smiled proudly. As Maria packed up her things to go home, another girl walked over. Hi, the girl said. My name is Gabby. I'm new here too.
Speaker 2:Maria smiled. I'm Maria. Gabby and Maria walked home together under the moonlight. They talked about the witch school. They talked about magic, and they talked about how amazing it was to discover something new.
Speaker 2:When Maria finally got home, Jack and Henry were waiting.
Speaker 1:Where were you?
Speaker 2:Jack asked.
Speaker 1:You were gone a long time,
Speaker 2:Henry said. Maria smiled. I went for a walk, she said. It was far away, and I wanted to hang out for a little bit. Jack looked suspicious.
Speaker 2:Henry looked confused, But Maria didn't say anything else. Not yet. That night, Maria went to bed under the soft moonlight. She knew the truth now. Witches were real.
Speaker 2:Magic was real. And one day, she would prove it to her brothers. Thanks for listening to Enchanted Mysteries by Daisy Streams. Tune in to the next episode for more spooky nighttime stories. See you then.
