The California Public Utilities Commission filed multiple proposed decisions and applications during the week of June 8th to 12th, 2026. These filings include compensation grants to intervenors, approvals of certificates for transmission projects, and requests for financing authority. Interested parties may submit comments on proposed decisions via the CPUC Docket Card, and subscription to CPUC’s service is available for updates on proceedings. Intervenors must meet compensation claim requirements as outlined in California Public Utilities Code sections 1801 through 1812.

In enforcement news, Thomas W. Engelbrecht has been prohibited from participating in any manner in the affairs of insured depository institutions and related entities, effective June 12, 2026. He was fined $125,000 for causing imprudent credit extensions and fabricating board meeting minutes at Bank of Eufaula and its holding company. Engelbrecht must pay the civil money penalty within 60 days of the order and is barred from conducting affairs of any insured depository institution without prior written approval.

Draeger, Incorporated has expanded a previous correction for its Atlan A350 and A350XL anesthesia workstations due to a manufacturing error that increases the risk of ventilator failure. Customers are advised to use these devices only under permanent supervision until the ventilator motor assembly is replaced. Failure of mechanical ventilation may result in serious health risks including hypoxia, bradycardia, cardiac arrest, and death. If ventilation fails, operators should switch to manual or spontaneous ventilation mode and monitor patient oxygenation closely. The alarm priority for the “Ventilator error!!!” message may be downgraded to “ALARM RESET” after switching to manual mode if preferred.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation participated in a coordinated counter-terrorism operation involving Europol and eight European law enforcement agencies targeting Islamic State Khorasan Province affiliated individuals and their travel routes. This week-long operation enhanced cross-border cooperation and intelligence sharing to mitigate the ongoing jihadi terrorism threat posed by ISKP networks in Europe. Participating agencies employed real-time intelligence exchange, specialized analytical and investigative resources, and advanced tools to track financing and cryptocurrency trails.

The United States Department of Justice announced sentencing for ten members of a drug trafficking organization. These defendants were convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering offenses. The case highlights the importance of multi-agency law enforcement cooperation and the serious legal consequences for involvement in narcotics distribution and related crimes.

In federal indictments announced by the Department of Justice’s June 2025-B Grand Jury, multiple individuals face charges including unlawful reentry, drug conspiracy, possession of firearms by felons, and cyberstalking. These prosecutions reflect ongoing federal priorities in combating immigration violations, drug trafficking, and violent crimes.

The Federal Communications Commission will hold an open commission meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The agenda includes consideration of Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, Reports and Orders, and Further Notices on topics such as addressing state and local barriers to wireline deployment, modernization of the E-Rate program, Next Generation 911 services, emergency alert system upgrades, and submarine cable licensing and security. These regulatory actions aim to improve telecommunications infrastructure deployment, protect children online, enhance emergency response reliability, and strengthen national security related to communications networks.

A federal jury convicted Yaroslav Vishnevski of manufacturing and possessing unregistered short-barreled rifles and silencers in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The case underscores enforcement efforts against untraceable firearms, including ghost guns and 3D printed silencers, which pose significant public safety challenges. Compliance with federal firearms registration laws remains critical, and law enforcement agencies continue to investigate and prosecute illegal firearm manufacturing and possession.

Finally, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission is considering applications for exemptions that would allow certain investment companies to issue multiple share classes and amend subadvisory agreements without shareholder approval. Additionally, proposed rule changes by the Cboe BYX and EDGX Exchanges would introduce new order types and processing instructions. Applicants opposing these exemptions must file hearing requests by July 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time. If approved, exchanges will implement contingent instructions and non-displayed Intermarket Sweep Orders as part of the new rules.
