It is 20 hours past midnight on our first sunny one in a while, so nothing to do but give thanks as it is time to brush the dust off your weary shoulders and check out the new biz tonight for our new muses Monday evening to kick off the week right just like the sunlight. And this start to it all is jotted into history as November 15, 2021. This is Danno of course ready to light it up for another week of The Drop from studio 2, GFN HQ in downtown Gwangju, how do you do? Big, huge, massive weekend of releases is behind us so for both our first & second hour we got new LP’s to pore over from Silk Sonic, Courtney Barnett, and IDLES along with new singles from Taylor Swift, Damon Albarn and so many more while Aline Verduyn will once again join us to finish off the final 57 of the show. Still kinda shook from that Silk Sonic album, if I’m staying truthful so we’ll have an extended feature of that, but 2021 is certainly coming to a massive crescendo musically speaking. However, before we get to any of that, we note on this date the release of a a great live record from Neil Young yesterday in 1979, and we’ll let everything get enunciated properly concerning this LP after the rust settles. THIS is The Drop.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Cortez The Killer (Live Rust)
The Drop has a officially sounded the gun for our New Muses Monday weekly kickoff after a positively massive weekend of new releases. Danno here, trying to show you faithful drop gangsters at least a smidgeon of what went down this past weekend during our first hour tonight. How’s it going and we hope you had a great start to all the laborious unpleasantness this fine & sunny Monday. Thank you as always for joining us.
After the wildly successful Rust Never Sleeps tour album, Young decided to release this, mostly recorded in 1978 amongst others at the Cow Palace outside of San Francisco. The album is a compilation of recordings from different venues on what is mostly the Rust Never Sleeps tour. However, there is an interesting bit of editing on the final record, as between tracks 2 and 3 on side 2 there is a stage announcement calling for people to get off of a tower and comments on an ongoing rainstorm. This is actually taken from Woodstock, almost a decade prior where Young performed as a member of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Young would go on to release a Rust Never Sleeps film under the pseudonym of Bernard Shakey, and all of that footage would be from the 1978 performance at the aforementioned Cow Palace.

So now that we have the monocle-wearing portion of the show out of the way, and we’ll commence with Courtney Barnett to be followed by Kate Bollinger & BROODS, all of which we’ll let you know a good bit about after they’ve run out. THIS is The Drop on your new Muses Monday night.
__________
Back on The Drop after trio of new tunes for the week, all ladies in control once again to start the fun tonight. Of course, our main lady Aline Verduyn will be adding her bits of new pop cuts and things you might have slept on after the Popcast fires up at the top of the hour. For now through, we go to the recap, that was...
Courtney Barnett – Write A List of Things To Look Forward To (…for any of you English teachers out there, the title of this new LP and some of the tracks almost feel like something you could administer an exam on. Things Take Time Take Time is out everywhere as of Friday, which would be the Aussie singer-songwriter & her smooth to the touch band’s third studio album. Do check in full if you dug that.)
Kate Bollinger – Yards/Gardens (…our main lady out of UVA is just out with this single in the midst of last week. However, it does hail new & even bigger things for the artist, as she is now officially signed with Ghostly International, which was announced with this new single & accompanying video. Check her out on tour next year with Faye Webster, and she’s also playing select dates now with Real Estate.)
BROODS – Heartbreak (…another big announcement with this tune, as the sibling duo of Georgia & Caleb Nott will release their fourth studio album. The LP is due out in February and will be called Space Island. Very cool animated video accompanying this one as well, which was done by Dr. Foothead.)
Now, we’re going to slow it down a bit for the final part of quarter one tonight, and up next is something very pensive but if you wait for it, quite jarring from Damon Albarn called Darkness to Light. This is part of his album just dropped Friday called The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows. After that to close Sega Bodega is also out with a new LP as of Friday called Romeo, and we’ll finish with a new single out with the LP called Cicada. THIS is The Drop on your New Muses Monday night.
Damon Albarn – Darkness To Light
Sega Bodega feat Arca – Cicada

II
The Drop recommissions after the first jump of the night tonight. Massive weekend of album drops and none bigger than the album those two instant classics are from. Hope all is well with you, Drop Gangsters (KOR)? Danno here hoping that those last two cuts at least made your day a little better, and Aline will join us for another hour of The Popcast after 9pm tonight. So, let’s get to talking about...
Silk Sonic – Blast Off (….)
Silk Sonic – Put On A Smile (…last Friday the mega-hyped instant candidate for album of the year dropped from the side project of Anderson.Paak & Bruno Mars. An Evening With Silk Sonic is just a masterpiece on every level, the arrangement, engineering, concept, everything is just on point. Hard to believe the album is this good, but indeed it is. An Evening With Silk Sonic, an instant classic hosted by the inimitable and timeless Bootsy Collins with contributions from Thundercat to boot, available everywhere now.)

So, gotta switch up the mood a touch here and go more acoustic for the next three new cuts. Up next is a new version of Taylor Swift’s Nothing New, paradoxically enough, then we have great new indie cuts from Claud & Etta Marcus. We’ll discuss all of these after they’ve gone to the clouds and returned to earth but for now THIS is The Drop letting the balloons go on your New Muses Monday night.
___________
The Drop returns this evening and we are into the final verbosities of the first 57 this evening. How’s it going, Drop Gangsters (KOR)? Danno here ready to welcome Aline shortly after the jump for our Popcast weekly for parts 3 & 4, and of course we’re thrilled you’re here with us tonight. However, let’s get to the liner notes on the notes we just let float…
Taylor Swift feat Phoebe Bridgers – Nothing New (From The Vault) (…the Taylor’s Version of Red is out now, featuring new takes on the album. Big features with other artists like Chris Stapleton, Ed Sheeran, and Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody. However, this duet with Phoebe Bridgers is simply making fans freak out. The 2 minute feature for the Saddest Factory Records boss is also surreal to her, as Bridgers tweeted, “I was 18 when Red came out. How is this real?” Do check in full, a must for any big fans of Red.)
Claud – Tommy (…the latest single from the rising indie pop star just dropped last week, and there was another big announcement here, as Claud will be hitting the road next year for a spring tour, and do check her Super Monster LP from February, released via the aforementioned Saddest Factory Records headed by Phoebe Bridgers.)
Etta Marcus feat Matt Maltese – Salt Lake City (…after an incredible debut with a tune called Hide & Seek, this latest tune from London-based Etta Marcus is really marking her out as a masterful songwriter and storyteller. As you could hear in the tune, the song is fantasizing about moving elsewhere to start afresh, but the arrangement is just seeped in this thick melancholy. Amazing stuff, can’t wait to hear more from Marcus, who is still only 20 years old.)

So, halftime doth approach quickly, but we still got time to feature another really complex, and wonderful album that is a massive change of pace from IDLES. The Crawler LP just dropped Friday, and we’ll play a couple of tunes from the LP to rock out and take us into part 3 and the popcast with Aline. First up is Stockholm Syndrome, and then we’ll close the first 57 with King Snake. Once again, that’s IDLES, and the Crawler LP is out everywhere now. THIS is The Drop on your New Muses Monday and it is indeed halftime.
IDLES – Stockholm Syndrome
IDLES – King Snake

2. Ed Sheeran – The Joker and the Queen

Ed Sheeran wouldn't want to "mess" with the "good" thing Adele has going on by recording a duet with his fellow superstar.
He recalled getting to hang out with and witness the 33-year-old Grammy-winner play "tiny, tiny, tiny shows", as his cousin was the drummer of Adele's early tour buddy, Jack Penate.
“I mean I don't know her super, super well, but you know, we are both British and we have a fair bit in common so yeah, she is lovely."

Fresh Bread/New Releases:

1. Bruno mars, Anderson. Paak. Silk sonic – Smokin out the window
Rel: Nov 5

Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars take it all the way back to the 1970s Soul Train era in the retro video for their Silk Sonic single "Smokin' Out the Window." The visual for the third song to drop so far from the dynamic duo's upcoming joint album finds them going through their choreo on an old school TV set while rocking wide lapel tuxedo jackets.

2. Tiesto. Ava max – The Motto
Rel: Nov 4

The Motto” is a single from Dutch DJ and producer, Tiësto, in collaboration with Ava Max.
Tiesto: “ I cannot wait for the world to hear our collaboration. “The Motto” is the party anthem keeping us dancing into 2022 as we close out a crazy year!“
Ava says: “The Motto” is empowering — it’s about not caring, doing you, having a good time, and letting the world know!“

3. Lany – the older you get the less you cry
Rel: Nov5

Pop band LANY dropped the deluxe version of this summer’s LP Gg Bb, Xx last week, which included their shimmering and emotional track “The Older You Get, The Less You Cry.”
The iridescent song walks through mistakes made in the past, like giving up on love too early and feeling beaten down by past relationships.

4. Little mix – Between Us
Rel: Nov 5

Even though they’re now a trio, Little Mix aren’t holding back on their new releases.
The girl group’s latest track “Between Us” shows a more vulnerable side of the singers.
Leaning on each of the members’ far-reaching vocals, “Between Us” is a romantic ode to sticking by your word in a relationship.

5. Foals – Wake Me Up
Rel: Nov 4
(No Info)

PART IV

From sing2

“Gwen and I decided we were going to write our own vows for the wedding, but I decided to surprise her by writing a song instead… ,” Shelton wrote.

8. Audrey Mika - Strangers
Rel: Nov 5

Rising Star Audrey Mika says, ““Strangers” is a great song to vibe to when reminiscing on an old relationship. Sometimes, it’s hard to face the truth: the person you used to know is now a stranger to you.
In my experience, singing along to a song has been the best way to express my emotions.
I know I feel less alone when singing lyrics I truly identify with, and I’m striving to be the kind of artist who’s audience turns to their music for that emotional catharsis.”

9. Foxes – Sky Love
Rel: Nov 3

Ahead of the release of her new album ‘The Kick’ on 11th February Foxes has shared her newest single ‘Sky Love’.
Speaking about the track, Foxes - aka Louisa Rose Allen - says it’s about “craving the kind of love that seems unimaginable, drives you crazy and is all consuming. A love that feels otherworldly and like nothing you’ve felt before.”
