James Dooley Podcast

James Dooley and Kasra Dash explore the connection between personal branding, Knowledge Panels, and online identity, drawing on their shared understanding of how search engines evaluate entities. They explain that personal branding directly strengthens a Knowledge Panel because consistent, factual signals help search engines build trust and confidence in an individual’s digital footprint. Together, they describe a brand SERP as a digital business card, where credibility is judged immediately, often before anyone clicks through to a website. They compare personal branding to a shop window, emphasising that a clean, authoritative online presence naturally attracts enquiries, partnerships, and investment. James Dooley shares how investing in his personal brand opened up opportunities, noting that investors increasingly research founders as much as the businesses they run. He explains how his entrepreneurship Knowledge Panel expanded as a result of structured PR designed to support entity recognition and factual consistency. Kasra Dash explains why PR agencies conduct in-depth interviews, highlighting that accurate, verifiable information improves publication success while reinforcing entity signals across search. He also stresses that a strong personal narrative increases PR impact, as authentic and trustworthy stories perform far better across high-authority media outlets.

Kasra Dash: I am joined with James. We're going to be talking about personal branding and also knowledge panels.

James Dooley: Why are they important first of all.

Kasra Dash: Personal branding PR is massively important to get your knowledge panel. It is also very important for improving the positivity on your brand SERP which is your business card online. For me personal branding is key for making certain that your profile online is positive and says what you want it to say. It also acts as a huge reputation management tool. I see it as your shop window. If your shop window is broken and there's trash outside nobody will be attracted to buy from you or enquire with you for your services or your product. It increases your conversion rate before anyone even lands on your website. People see James has five star reviews, James has been listed on Forbes, James has been listed on X Y and Z websites. It gives confidence before the click.

Kasra Dash: For myself personal branding has helped elevate me and get lots of new investment opportunities. When people look into the business they also want to know who owns it or who works within the organisation. When they search for James Dooley and he has a knowledge panel set up for entrepreneurship that knowledge panel is boosted by his personal branding PR done via Jam Prime. Massive shout out to Jam Prime for helping with the knowledge panel and personal branding PR.

Kasra Dash: You have also used Jam PR. What's your feedback.

James Dooley: One thing that sticks out is the amount of time they spend interviewing you and finding out the facts. It's not easy to get a knowledge panel but if you have a good story Jam Prime pitch that story to PR publication sites. If you align yourself with a good story and build a trustworthy brand it does more for you than just having a knowledge panel.

James Dooley: So if anyone is looking for a personal branding agency I highly recommend Jam Prime. Ben Nichols the founder is a great guy. He also owns Jam Press.

Kasra Dash: Has your own knowledge panel and personal brand SERP helped you win more business. Does it help with trust. What are the key benefits of having a positive brand SERP. If someone ever has negative reviews you want to sink those. Not that you have any but controlling the brand SERP is important. For anyone that doesn't have a personal brand explain why it's important to get personal branding PR behind them.

James Dooley: Even if you're looking for a business coach you might have a few names in mind. You might say you're going to hire James Dooley. But before hiring him you're going to want to look at case studies and where he's been published. If he's been published on Forbes or the Independent and everyone is rating the business coach you're more inclined to hire that person.

Kasra Dash: Anyone watching let us know what you think about personal branding. Have you used a personal branding agency. Leave a comment and tell us whether it's worthwhile. I think it is worthwhile and good value for money. I'm going to keep using Jam Prime. What about yourself.

James Dooley: Definitely.
