Warm welcome to everyone tuning in today. We continue with the Torah portion of Bamidbur, focusing on the census initiated a month after the dedication of the tabernacle. The counting is organized by families and the number of heads per household.
The letter lamed, which extends above the line, symbolizes leadership. For the tribe of Shimon, this leadership was flawed, represented by a crooked lamed. This signifies the fallen state of the tribe.
An interesting lesson arises from the enumeration: Yosef's descendants are counted as two separate tribes, while the Tribe of Levi is not counted at all. The Levites are distinguished because not one member sinned during the incident of the golden calf.
