Greetings and Welcome to The 405 Coffee Break with O.K. Solberg
New episodes tend to air over the local KMMR radio station @ 5 minutes past 4PM each M-F. And have been doing so, nearly every week since Sept 2018.
New episodes appear here usually within a few hours after that KMMR air time and been striving to post new releases here by 4:30PM.
I want to again welcome you to The 04:05 Coffee Break. Guys, I went long on Monday, I'll go short today. Get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea, bottle of water. Let's see what's happening.
OK Solberg:Like I told you all week long, I do not have the Spring wheat price. You can call Shandell in Harlem, but a 550lb steer calf, they're moving now. $4.05 to $4.40 a pound, they're gonna bring you right around $2,200 to $2,500 a head. And a 100lb fat lamb in Billings $2.85 a pound, on the top end. But guys, there's more, much more.
OK Solberg:Okay. Today, I have a bunch of one liners with meaning. I really like one liners. I like gems of wisdom wrapped up in a short sentence. Okay. You ready? Listen now.
OK Solberg:Character is what you do when doing the right thing costs you something and nobody is watching.
OK Solberg:Now remember this one. You can win an argument. Okay? You can win an argument and still lose the person who mattered more than being right.
OK Solberg:Another one, a closed mind can be just as confining as a prison except the prisoner often believes he is free. A closed mind.
OK Solberg:The older we get, the more we should realize that experience teaches us many things, but humility teaches us how much we still don't know. I like this one too.
OK Solberg:A kind word costs so little that it's remarkable how often we let the price keep us from speaking one.
OK Solberg:The trouble with holding a grudge, is that you have to keep carrying it long after the person who gave it to you, has walked away and forgotten it. I'm sorry. Next one.
OK Solberg:A person who cannot admit a mistake has turned a temporary failure into a permanent weakness.
OK Solberg:Did you realize we often pray for God to change our circumstances when he may be using those circumstances, to change us?
OK Solberg:The secret to growing wiser with age is to stop using your years as evidence that you were right and start using them as evidence of how much more you have to learn.
OK Solberg:A person who always needs the last word may eventually discover that everyone else has stopped listening and stopped showing up.
OK Solberg:We often judge ourselves by our intentions and other people by their behavior, which is one reason we tend to think better of ourselves than we do of them.
OK Solberg:Why is that? Because we judge our intentions while we judge other people's behavior. That's a good one. Think on it.
OK Solberg:The person who asks sincere questions may learn more in an hour than the person who spends an hour proving how much he knows.
OK Solberg:When pride demands that we protect our reputation at all costs, honesty may be the 1st thing we sacrifice. Oh, yeah. Pride will do terrible things.
OK Solberg:And all those helpful guidelines remind me of a Bible passage. Proverbs 3 verses 5 and 6. Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not on to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.
OK Solberg:Yes, trust in the Lord. Give us guidance, Lord. Okay. The two that are my favorite from this long list are these. Remember this one.
OK Solberg:You can win an argument and still lose the person who mattered more than being right. And this one, don't ever forget it.
OK Solberg:A kind word costs so little that it's remarkable how often we let the price keep us from speaking a kind word.
OK Solberg:With that being said, I thank you for tuning in. Enjoy the weekend.
OK Solberg:So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
