Cinema PSYOPS

Charlie, a Korean War veteran and aging trucker, spends his retirement mining an old cobalt mine with the assistance of his devoted grandson. A good friend lures the trucker out of retirement by offering him a quarter of a million dollars to drive some plutonium from Nevada to a high-security operation in Arizona. He begins his trek in a high-tech rig unaware that domestic terrorists are waiting to ambush him and his deadly cargo.

What is Cinema PSYOPS?

Cinema PSYOPS is a weekly film review podcast where we experiment on an impressionable mind to find out why physical wounds heal, but Cinematic ones don't.

[Music]

Too stickling!

[Music]

Wally and hoop to a clue!

I can deserve to live Show PK short, but still feels long.

Just two billion for us, babbling on!

This podcast sucks. Tip a style suck. This show still fucking sucks. A too many late for us trying to do a show. Virtue single-in, how they're so bold. Simple style suck, this podcast up, ship usy out suck, this show still fucking sucks.

[Silence]

And welcome to the five hundred forty-eighth episode of Cinema Psyops. I'm your host Cort, the guy that cannot believe how fucking eighties the movie we are gonna talk about this week, Thunder Run, is filmed in nineteen eighty six and to cover the notes and tell you what the fuck is going on.

Is my co host Matt.

Smith weird.

All right.

It's a the classic Father's son but the father's the grandfather, buddy cop movie but with criminals and plutonium.

Well I don't I don't get what's so hard for you to understand.

Okay. So in the transport of plutonium, which is a dangerous, dangerous substance.

Super dangerous.

Right.

They're just...

They're playing games with that shit.

Yeah, they're just like putting it out there to see if there's like some kind of weird criminal organization that's gonna steal it.

There's a real criminal organization, they they want to stop'em, it's but they want to catch'em in the act of stealing.

To steal it. Right.

Right. And this criminal organization is pr I mean, we'll we'll get into it a little bit further here, but like quite seriously, I was like, Is this a post apocalyptic film or Or what?

What? No, man,'cause they're in a casino. I mean they're living normal lives.

It's just plutonium was really big in the eighties. You know what I mean?

Thunder Run from nineteen eighty six is a weird fucking movie and we had to literally like bite our tongues to get started because we can't even hold it back now. D we need to get into this, like we just gotta fucking do it, right?

And we're going to. I just have to say one last thing. If you want to take anything out of the eighties, it's this. We were obsessed with quicksand.

Acid rain and plutonium. And that's it!

What about the R O U S?

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. That's uh that's uh uh yeah, that's also true. Yeah, we also had that shit.

that shit

Yeah, we w we were afraid of rodents of unusual size.

Yes, rodents of unusual si Chuds too.

Oh Jesus, yeah, fucking sewers were rotten with chuds, even in the suburbs.

Yep, yep. All the chuds were around.

Ha ha ha.

All right, well, why don't we uh stop fucking about and let's get seriously into talking about this wild trip of a movie, Thunder Run from nineteen eighty six. We're gonna take the break here. We're gonna play the Legion Patreon ad.

Going to play a song that will be quite literally created mere seconds before the edit of the film. And when we get back, we will get into the discussion of Thunder Run. This

[Music]

I'll travel

[Music]

Love fuels is right!

Stop!

He's gonna survive!

Thunder Run!

Run!

Across the desert sun, Pretonium flow!

In dangers on the run!

It's ridiculous and lies, but shadows lurk!

I'm seeing the Twilight Sky!

Well there we go. Hopefully that song kind of helped explain what the fuck we're about to have happen. But the only person that I truly trust to do this only because he's already done the notes is my co host Matt, so tell him what the fuck happens in Thunder Run, my man. All right.

Alright, and I will. I just wanna say for the first time I'm not gonna guarantee a song'cause I don't know any song that's written that for this movie.

Ha ha ha!

Right.

It's just it's not possible. Anyhow and if it is

I wanna see it. I if it is, then it's on the level of Dream Warriors.

Yeah.

One can only hope.

Right.

Thunder Run the first thirty. So anyway, uh we see this couple and they're driving and all of a sudden the army kicks out and starts killing'em. And you think, Holy shit, what's going on? But then you see the driver of said car that look like just so normal couple also

had like a machine gun. So you're like, okay, they're they're not quite right either. Uh anyway, then uh we cut to a casino, a bathroom, and some dude sneaks up on the cleaning lady. Not a good look, but there's dialogue, so that's our first clip.

This is how you must podcast.

This is this is podcasting.

Podcasting.

[Silence]

Are you next?

Yes.

Grazie mille.

Thank you.

Chris, you have to stop.

Stop doing that!

Doing that.

Let's come to the

Last time there was a woman in one of the stars. This one too.

Shall we? No.

No

They got new air fresheners.

Thank you.

That you can't get off early.

Over here, house boat.

[Silence]

I'm um

What you are is a horny.

It's horny.

[Silence]

I don't like it.

They almost got away with the plutonium.

Plutonium last night.

Enough to point is they didn't.

Well nearly did.

We did.

I think it's crazy.

Crazy to ship real plutonium to catch these bastards.

Cool.

Why don't you use a decoy?

We discussed that. Well I think that any further show.

the further shipments of plutonium should be.

General.

This operation is to flush out the right.

[Silence]

Convoy. Just drop out of sight for a while and show up someplace else, and we'll be right back where we started. Now we know they're here. Next time get'em. Right. That's the way the age.

Yeah.

Yeah.

had moved in the entire boys hadn't killed everybody, we might have gotten a lead on who the hell didn't back of'em fine, men were under fire. Okay, okay.

Okay, there's enough

There's enough flame to go around. My agency's sticking with George, the best private contractor in the right.

Well have it your own way. But I can't guarantee to pull your chest out.

Thanks.

Yeah. Thanks. Think I've got just the guy for the next run. There were buddies in Korea during the war.

During the war.

Charlie Morris. He runs a mine near here with wife and grandson. One hell of a guy.

Yeah, we probably

No no no, that's all Maggie thinks a better man than me.

Maggie, knock it off, Ernie. The white's getting mad. I might feel married.

Married.

Damn it.

You know we oughta do this more often. Yeah.

I hope we have enough to pay the bills.

Oh don't worry. We got enough for the bill. And when the investors come down to the mine.

I know, I know, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have negative thoughts.

Don't worry, honey, I'll work it out.

We'll work it out.

You gave up trucking for me.

Buying the mine with as much my idea as yours.

Now what we say.

One little tidy? Mm-hmm.

Again?

One more time.

How's that genius boyfriend of yours doing?

Call O

Oh fine.

Gracias por ver el video.

Brains are sexy, huh? You betcha.

Probably with Kim. I'll be seeing him tonight, maybe.

I have things to do.

Well, I hope one of the things she's gotta do is bring us a drink. I mean she is a dingalink.

Thank you.

She's cute.

[Silence]

Actually,

Yeah.

I wish Chris and Kim could get married.

Alright. So then we see the young couple main couple here on the houseboat and they're kinda, you know, canoodling. And then uh walking through a scary scar dude who's kinda just that dude. You you've seen him everywhere.

Uh yeah he uh stares at a waitress and she gets all creeped out and he makes a phone call and he's like, Hey, is there any word about what's going on? So you know this guy's like the bad guy. So anyway, the old couple they're leaving, uh they ran into scary guy.

And even comment about that and you're like, Yeah, well you know that's gonna that's like foreshadowing.

Yeah, he's coded to look like um a certain race of folks that are always considered to be trouble uh in eighties movies and you know Exactly what I'm talking about because Gene Simmons was coded the exact same way in Runaway against Tom Sellick.

So the old couple are leaving and they see a semi in the parking lot. The g the grandpa seems to know whose semi it is and they check it out. Dialogue. Next clip.

Is how you should cover a show.

Sam Beelance's truck. Wonder what he wants for it. Huh?

Huh.

What the hell am I going to look at it?

I I couldn't afford you and I got ya.

Thank you.

You could afford me, Charlie.

You just didn't know it.

Uh give me a hand on the other side, honey.

Huh. Crazy kid.

Alright.

Ho ho ho ho Will you look at that beauty?

I got I'd love to own that rig.

You know, honey, under the right circumstances this thing can do about a hundred and twenty five miles an hour.

And what are the right circumstances?

Yeah.

With me not in it.

Ha ha ha.

Charlie Get that look out of your eyes.

Oh.

I think you know what you're doing, huh? Of course I'm a genius. Except when you're driving. I don't live to drive, I drive to live. Question of priorities.

Thank you.

Now let me tell you how this thing's gonna work.

Illegally of the yeah.

Now, Just before the power curve dips, we get maximum power.

Power.

That's what you set the nozzles for seven point nine millimeters. Mm-hmm.

So Mike, is this guy showing up or what? Yeah.

Yeah, that's chicken's uh chicken.

Who is this?

Who is this guy?

Hi some smart ass new kids. So he's gonna show us country boys how to drive.

Yeah.

Right.

Right.

Who's taking care of the fuzz?

Alright, so um the the b we see a biker is the one like on a crotch rocket keeping the uh cops busy and there's a big chase. It's a pretty good chase scene too. Uh it wasn't uh too bad.

Yeah. And uh but uh we see that who's the the the bike driver is the lady waitress who also dates the nerd dude uh and the grandson's friends.

I did wanna point out too she tricks the cops into going off a fucking pier. Like

All the way off the pier, the fucking cop cars sink, and you see the stunt men dressed as the policeman getting out of the car and climbing on top of it as it sinks. And then later on you see a shot of it with the lights still going under the water somehow. That was really fucking cool and very funny. And

And that's all right before the reveal that the biker is that waitress who is apparently the hottest girl in town who loves the computer geek.

yeah yeah yeah

Yeah, yeah. Exactly.

Yeah, and that's fucking eighties as fuck.

Fuck. That is so eighties as fuck. Come on.

So the special race city dude shows up and there's more dialogue, so that is our next clip.

race that against my vet. What's the matter?

You look a little uptight.

Up tight. Me? Uptight? Yeah, like we couldn't have pounded needle.

Needle up your nose.

Sure you got the thousand bucks? Said I'd race, didn't I?

Look, dummy, I didn't come out here to be stroked by some squirrel who hasn't got the bucks.

Chris!

your truck

Fuck.

Who's yours?

You're on.

[Silence]

Oh shit.

Shit is right.

I told you I didn't want you doing any more drag racing.

Maggie, I have a chance to win a thousand dollars tonight. And suppose you get arrested?

Suppose you give it a word.

I'm not gonna

And I'm not gonna do it.

I'm not gonna lose.

What am I gonna do with you two?

You're as bad as he is. You encourage him. Now wait a minute.

Wait a minute, uh it's in his blood, honey. I mean what the hell he's just trying to help.

Help. I know he's trying to help.

But there must be some other way.

Damn!

Chris, I appreciate what you're doing, but well for God's sake, be careful.

No sweat.

Why don't you get onto the finish line with Kim?

You know your grandmother's right. I mean there's gotta be an easier way to run.

All right, I'll do it.

[Silence]

Uh nitrous oxide.

In the engine? What do you say about the noddle?

Open is better.

Oh really?

Really? Well

Open is better, old man. Uh so anyway, the kid wins the race in his truck and everyone's like woo and they're gonna go celebrate. And then we cut to an armory with the bad guys, and that is again our next clip.

Man, this is how you gotta cover a movie these days.

Yeah, pretty much.

Yeah.

I'm taking charge of

Next operation

myself.

Myself.

Personally.

We can't afford it.

We can't afford another

Our fault. I know his fault it was.

Yeah.

He's dead.

Fortunately for him and

and us.

When do we move again?

Move again, Carlos.

And when we

And when will that be?

Will that be? I said when I get the word.

The word.

I'll check with you in the next day or two.

In the meantime You stay out of sight.

Oh let's set the stage.

Oh yeah.

Oh, the side.

Hell with Carlos.

Hey Wolf, how about some bright lights?

Lights.

Yeah.

لماذا؟

So now we cut to a bar and we see the kids are there, you know, cutting loose after a a big win and the guitar chase and the bad guys are also there. Well anyway, everyone's kinda dancing having fun, and then a different guy gets a little too handsy with the blue

So the her nerd boyfriend tries to stand up for and he gets the shit kicked out of him which starts a bar fight and everyone gets kicked out of the bar fight. So then we cut to the home of the nerd and he's kinda really hurting and all that kind of shit and

But his his girlfriend's giving him uh, you know, like she's like, Let's get you into a shower and he goes, All right, and he steps into the shower and she gets naked and and you get a view of the back end, so thank you, movie.

Well as she steps in the shower you do get a little view of the front and what she turns around too and it's a double.

Either way, thank you, movie.

And also the kid didn't just get his ass beat by like one dude. He took on the

Three dudes and they fucking stomped him. And that's what started the bar fight because they're like, Hey, there's three of you and one kid.

But also he he got a few licks in. You know, hey, he was brave. Yeah. Um

And uh so anyway, and he he goes now she goes now. So it's like yeah, you fucking now. Uh I don't know what else you think you're doing. Dude

Dude, you're

You tr you started a bar fight to defend the honor of your girl and she wants to thank you for that apparently.

And you should uh Letter.

Yeah, shower titties are the best titties.

Oh yeah, man. Uh y you may be sore, maybe you got a bad headache. She she'll make you feel good.

Don't worry about that concussion. Start worrying about that can come in.

Yeah.

Word up Fuck, we're sick. So anyway, uh

You're not wrong.

Yeah, yeah. Uh so then we cut to uh Papa's uh uh quarry that he has, and there is, you know, dialogue, so of course and naturally this leads to our next clip.

Listen, I want you to get the guys looking real busy for these investors today, hear me?

Hear me?

Get'em all moving around doing something. I don't care what you're.

Ready!

[Silence]

I'll throw him a beer button Saturday night, all right. Who the hell can be in that fancy car? George Adams!

Right off my left!

How the hell are you? Behind! Behind! Hey! Hold tight, I'm...

Okay, I'll be right back.

Good.

Oh yeah.

Charlie, my God. Charlie.

[Silence]

It's been a long time.

Too long.

Too long, too long.

Last time I saw you you were racing a ten wheeler down in Atlanta.

Thunder.

That's right.

That's going on last week.

Fine now.

How long do you think it'll take you to fix her up?

That's a rubber.

talking about.

I have a situation that might interest you.

Interesting.

I need a truck and the best driver in the world.

[Silence]

Could use a little capital, huh?

Yeah, okay. Can I show you around? Sure.

Sure.

Yeah, there's cobalt here.

Ball here all right.

Put too much in it. Right.

Right.

My grandson Chris, he loves it. He's been living with us ever since.

Her husband got killed. Sally How?

Eh, crazy automobile.

Autobobile accident. Sorry, Charlie. Yeah.

[Silence]

Covered in the flotation.

Lotation circuit.

Circuit at breakfast.

That brick building down there.

Well, you wanna invest in a whole

[Silence]

Oh I left two years ago. You were right to put after the war, Charlie, it wasn't the same.

Yeah, no more fun like knocking those.

Knocking those tanks over at Inshan. Oh, at derailing freight trains at Tucson Hunter. Ha ha. So I started my own business, providing security confidential shipments.

I'm kidding.

I want you to move a consignment for me, Charlie, on Saturday.

I'd never get old Thunder ready, need a new

Need a new track.

Say again.

No, don't. I heard you the first time.

What the

The hell are you moving? A mountain of gold?

Gold, good as plutonium.

I thought that was the army's job. The government want to keep a low profile. But there's another reason. A group of terrorists that also want that plutonium and they've tried once already. We're setting a trap, Charlie, and you are the base.

Thanks.

Thanks. Now don't worry, my boys will be there to spring the trap. All you have to do is lead them to it.

[Silence]

A four of a million dots.

Fifty thousand now.

Oh great.

Oh Chris. George Adams, an old army buddy of mine, son.

Hi Chris.

Maggie says the investors will be here by eleven.

Uh no no. Why don't you smoke the house?

up the house. Eight five, Maggie's got a hot outfit. Next time. Say hello for him.

Oh and don't forget, me tomorrow at one o'clock at the Edgewater Hotel. I'll be there.

I'll bring you there.

İzlediğiniz için teşekkür ederim.

Thanks a lot.

Yeah.

I'll explain it to you later. And don't say anything to your grandmother about it. I'll tell her no. Ah well there is Crazy Paul and his little entourage.

All right, anyway, so the investor meeting, uh the investors show up and uh the nerd kid who's trying to figure out uh this crane uh or uh whatever kind of piece of equipment uh and he accidentally runs over the investor's fucking convertible.

Um, which is probably not the way the investor meeting was supposed to go. So now they're not gonna get investors and uh that's definitely gonna be a problem, uh which will make him definitely have to take this new job that's been offered to him. And when all that's over, that's the end of the first thirty minutes.

I wanted to point out too the kid kinda purposely did some shit to dump the car dump the dirt on the d investor because he grabbed at the girls' asses. That's true.

That's true, yeah, he did.

He did. And the accident was that he went to dump it in the car for assaulting the two women and then he accidentally, while trying to figure it out, did run over the guy's car. That part was the accident, but he purposely dumped a lot of dirt on the car.

اشتركوا في القناة

Yeah, for the assaults, for the dual

For the assaulting.

Yeah, the dual instant assaulting of the women. Yes, that's why we're going to be able to do it.

The maidens, if you will. Yeah.

Yeah. This is such a fucking Andy Sederis fucking plot. I've been saying it in the clips. Like we've been talking about it. This is such an Andy Sederis style plot. And really the only thing that we're missing is the people driving the truck need to be like, I don't know, like Shannon Tweed. Yeah. Or

Yeah, it needs to be bucked some ladies.

But some blondes usually is what he wants.

Some blondes.

Yeah.

Maybe one brunette in there because, you know, he gets weird. Yeah.

No, no, I got it. Julie Strain is your fucking lead because Julie Strain is great in every fucking Sederis film that she shows up in. And

And here it is.

She's the one that drives it.

That needs to be the bad guy.

Because the bad guy also needs to be a female.

Okay, so Julie Strange can be the bad guy'cause she's brunette and

And then and then Shannon Tweed will be the the the the driver.

Yeah. I forget the other what was the other actress that he used for like everything? It's been so long since we've done those movies and

Oh fuck yeah, I don't even know.

Yeah.

Just those two, the two yeah we just mentioned.

But like if you put those ladies, you can't do that.

in it, you uh automatically have an Andy Sederis film. Like it's just that exploitative and weird and nonsensical and silly and fun. Like this this movie is dumb as fuck. I'm not saying that it's not. It's just so fucking fun too. Like I don't give a shit. Yeah.

No, it's when you get this good a shit, you're not gonna really much care.

care.

Yeah, so far it has been a hoot, and the sillier it gets, the more just the sort of over-the-top action and silliness and just everything, like pot contrivance and ease of everything. Like this was just a joy to watch so far. Yeah. And once you move further into the

film, it just gets sillier. So I don't want to delay that. Let's move on to the next act.

All right. The next thirty. Well, we're back at the casino and hey, it's our next clip.

[Silence]

But it'll work.

Maybe.

Maybe it's worth two hundred and fifty thousand.

Yeah, wow.

No.

Oh all right, let me run this by you one more time. I'll leave the mine at midnight Friday at point A, pick up the plutonium at four AM Saturday at point C and start to run two hundred miles back.

to the uh Naval Test the summer.

You got it.

You said they tried this once before. What makes you think they're gonna try again?

This plutonium is worth a fortune. Those sons of bitches will be after you all of it.

[Silence]

Barrel right through into the tunnel.

[Silence]

Here.

Here.

Solid steel barrier that springs up out of the ground. It's activated by an electronic code. It's changed every day.

Yeah.

Now that's the entrance to the tunnels. You can't see it in black and white photo, but inside the tunnel there are laser beams set up to chop any intruder to pieces.

Hey nice.

I'll see to it the both the barrier.

And the laser tunnel are deactivated.

Where do you figure they're going to hit us? They'll be safe.

We'll be safe for the first hundred miles. Too much traffic.

But after that, once you're off the main highway It'll be Mig Alley.

Ha ha ha.

Ha ha ha ha!

Bruce, where the hell did you come from?

I wanna talk to you about the run.

I wanna go with you.

No no chance. Huh?

It's gonna be dangerous.

And if it's gonna be dangerous, you can't go alone.

What are you talking about?

George has got everything covered. All I gotta do is get in the rig, drive it down.

Drive it, keep it between the white.

Lines.

Yeah.

Like I said.

It's not gonna be dangerous. So why can't I go?

With the mind.

Clean up after your

After your dear friend Paul, huh?

Oh only gonna be gone.

I'm only gonna be gone one day.

Charlie.

Charlie.

Спасибо.

Uh Chris.

You want to do me a favor?

That means I got a new trap, huh?

You said yourself you don't know how many guys you'll send after you. I mean

I need you at the mine.

Now you just sold yourself a truck, dude. That's cash.

That's cash.

I gotcha, I gotcha.

I don't see what you need a truck for.

Four.

Said yourself the box of the plutonium.

It's part of George's plan.

Big rig like this. Keep cool, huh?

I think it's crazy.

But the money is smart.

Smart.

And uh what are you gonna tell Maggie?

Oi, Ran.

[Silence]

You should see the expression on your face.

Je sais que je devrais vous dire, mais je ne voulais pas vous upset et avoir vous joué à me.

What?

All right You know that belt you were looking at the other day?

감사합니다.

That looks real nice on you.

Nice on you.

I will tell you the whole story.

Story.

I can have a piece of that.

piece of that pie before it gets cold.

All right. So now they're setting up the rig for the ride. Uh they're informing uh Papa of all the stuff they're doing, and that kind of leads to our next clip.

Man, you are doing this movie so right.

I'm just telling you, man.

'Cause you know what? You front load with clips because after a while when we get into that final go, almost the final thirty, there ain't a whole ton of clips.

Yeah.

That's right.

And I think these babies are gonna do just what you want.

And I really appreciate the fact that you're

We plowed all that ground fall. Let's get on with it.

Yes, sir.

Yes, sir. Well this is a regular C V, except for channel eight. I put special crystals in your C V and Kind of familiar civil defense system.

Now uh

Yes.

This is my

My PA still resistance.

They just uh

By punching in the code, it will dial the present computer entry in the facility's master computer.

Yeah.

And deactivate the laser system.

The lasers in the tunnel.

on the steel barrier.

I thought you said George was gonna make sure they'd be deactivated.

He will.

[Silence]

No, they change that code every day, so I have to radio it to you on Saturday.

[Silence]

No sweat.

Don't talk about it. Just make sure it works.

This is going with it.

No.

Thank you.

You understand why it can't take this long.

Maybe you better explain it to him. I mean he has a

Stubborn.

And I want to remind you guys that.

you guys got that from.

[Silence]

I just totally appreciate y'all like it is.

I think he does.

Well, I hope you two work it out.

Maggie and I have had more than

More than that.

Good years together than I can remember.

We take care of each other.

कर दो

Thank you.

شكرا

[Silence]

They're hauling the shipment in this rig.

Driver knows the area well. So he may use side roads.

As well as the highway.

But he'll be under constant surveillance.

Soon as we spot his rig.

You'll be contacted by radio.

And these are the best locations to jump them.

Those hills here and here.

The railroad process.

Road crossing.

The three about twenty five.

Twenty five miles.

five miles from the Neville testing sites.

Yeah. We get close enough to see the entrance.

We've been advised to call off the operation.

For good reason.

Reason.

The barrier doesn't get you.

The laser beams will cut you to shreds.

Run starts Saturday.

[Music]

КОМОН, СЛАКИ!

Don't worry.

Can't help it, Charlie.

I got a bad thing.

Yeah, yeah.

I didn't know everything's gonna turn out all right. I wouldn't be making this run.

That big beauty is gonna take me out and bring me back.

You like the idea of going back in the road, don't you?

Okay.

I gave up trucking with no regrets at all. But this one's different. This one's for you.

Damn near everything I do is she Thank you.

You know.

Okay. So Papa takes off for the run, makes his first C B uh call to the kids, and that is our next clip.

Wow.

Wow.

I'm impressed.

I don't know.

Paul? Paul, are you there?

This is base.

Hi Charlie, this is Paul. We read you loud and clear. Looks like we got a launch.

اشتركوا في القناة

Sure does Big C. Is there anything else I can do for you? Make sure

Make sure I get the laser coat tomorrow morning.

Uh piece of cake. Kim was just saying something. Hi Charlie.

Tell Chris I'm real mad at him for going.

Altyazı M.K.

Alright, honey, over and out.

Chris, what the hell are you doing here?

Go on here.

Let me explain before you get mad. Mad.

Bad. You don't know anything about bad. I mean, come on, fresh, you know better.

No better.

I have to go with you.

No way.

No way, I told you. No way in the world, son.

Please will you just listen to me, please?

All right.

Get it off your chest in a hurry because it's a long way back to that mine. You got a hitchhike for twenty miles. I have not got time to take.

Yeah.

Charlie, okay, I know that the only reason you're worried is'cause you're worried about me

I told you.

I told you there's nothing to worry about.

There's nothing.

There's nothing to worry about, you'd want me along like a shot. And why else would he give you all that money?

Chris, let's let's think about your grandmother, Maggie. I mean, bad enough if something should happen to me, but my God, if anything happened to you, that poor lady would just

Nothing's gonna happen to me as long as I'm with you. And nothing's gonna happen to you as long as you're with me.

You're with me.

I mean Chris, please don't push me.

If I stay here and let you go alone, I'll go crazy.

If anything was to happen to you, I mean, you know, you're not just my grandfather.

My father.

You're my friend. Besides, you need me.

I mean, how else are you gonna drive this rig and Talking to C V, push all the buttons on that thing and uh Eat a piece of Maggie's apple pie at the same time, huh?

God, you're full of good ideas, thank you. But now listen, let's understand each other. I am the boss. You're gonna do exactly what I say. When I say to do and when I say jump I mean you jump.

You got it.

God knows what they got in mind to try and do to this rig. I

What if they put Thunder out of commission?

Commission. Oh, don't worry, they will not put Thunder out of commission. You can believe me on that. But what if?

What if? I had an idea.

Yeah. Grown ass man fucking hiding in the truck.

I mean, I don't know about grown ass man. He's a k he's I think he's still a kid. I mean,'cause he's the grandson.

Yeah, but he's...

And this guy ain't that fucking old.

Fucking old. He's old enough to be able to start betting on street races and drive, so he's a grown ass man.

True. Yeah. All right.

All right.

Yeah.

Yeah. So...

So, um and he you know what he is dating a woman who lives in her own houseboat.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So yeah, okay, I get ya. Um

Um kids grew up faster back then.

Yeah, that's true. That's true. So anyway, they pick up the cargo. Uh they strap the tiny little plutonium into the big truck. Then the boys stop to watch the sunrise, and that is our next clip.

Goddamn, you were covering the hell out of this market.

You've got a lot of years ahead of you to enjoy that.

Yeah. When do we get going?

Anxious.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I felt like that too before.

Chris, there's something you gotta understand.

There are people out there someplace that are gonna try to hurt us, stop us.

Any way they can.

Sure.

Just remember what I told you. When I say jump.

You chunk.

You can depend on me, Grant.

Dummy Grants.

I know that.

You're a man I'll ride the river with any time.

Alright, so

So, uh then we get some more driving. This is kinda where the montage really hits in this movie is th this part. It's kinda just driving around. Well now it's time for the tech guy to do his part and there's dialogue, so let's clip that motherfucker.

This is definitely how you have to cover a movie like this.

Yeah.

Korea. Rough stretch seems to lay in wait for our bombers there.

For me to make you so tense this early in the morning, Paul, but Charlie and Chris's lives are at stake.

Oh no. No. I had it all set.

It's Saturday, right? Yeah.

Well they changed the password for the weekend. I don't know what it is.

It is.

What are you gonna do?

Yeah.

Maybe it's programmed to help.

[Silence]

Try and raise'em on the C B, find out what's happening and tell'em we're having some problems but we'll work it out somehow.

This is base calling big C

So the grandpa's backstory is that he was a vet in Korea, like he fought in the Korean War, but he also handled making runs that he was supposed to be getting bombed and all of that stuff too. So he does have this specialist kind of skill thing. And also, anyone who survived either

Korea or Vietnam in the eighties in movies was automatically given a pass into thinking that they were the most deadly warrior you could ever possibly come across, even in everyday regular cront, right? Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah. The only ones who got to be better than just even grunts is the Green Berets. That was another big eighties thing with the Green Berets. Yeah, always right. The nineties kind of saw the going away of the Green Berets in favor of Marines.

Yeah.

And seal. Then it was just about how marines were

And maybe two.

80s, it was all about the Green Beret.

Right.

For sure. I just wanted to point that out. So, like, there is some kind of precedent as to why this specific man is the the one for the job. Yeah. Yeah. But he's.

But he's also the best apparently driver ever because he was a s when he got home he was a semi truck driver, so he's apparently supposed to be the best ever at that.

Yeah, he based basically can handle any really dangerous transportative load. Like he's the guy that's gonna be driving the ex super high explosive or really corrosive chemicals, like the real hazmat shit. This is what this guy specializes in.

He's the MacGyver of driving.

Yeah, he's like the fucking A team of truck driving.

[Silence]

Yeah. We can move on now. I just wanted to point that out.

Yeah.

Alright, so uh the couple uh they pull up and they're driving alongside and they're on a motorbike and uh girl uh who's her hand on the back of the bike, she takes out a gun, she starts firing at the truck. Well they they kind of rig this truck up and there's a lot of buttons.

And the grandpa papa said, listen, I you do what I tell ya,'cause that was the whole part, press button number I think he said two. He did. And it lit the bike on fire with everyone else killing them. That was solid.

And here we have Mad Max anti theft device that this guy built in and it's amazing. Yeah.

But I mean, rarely in the eighties did you see like an old man willing to light a woman on fire. But he lit a woman on fire to death.

He had a justification that they were trying to kill them too, so he's like, Yeah, I'm just gonna burn these people horribly alive because it's easier that way. You know why? Because he fucking survived Korea.

That's y fucking A. I think I think you're exactly right. Yeah.

I was just like, Jesus.

Yeah, he survived the Korean War. He's going to be the type of person that has done stuff that he's not proud of to stay alive and will continue to do stuff he's not proud of to stay alive.

Exactly. And now that his grandson's there he's definitely not gonna let him get hurt.

Right. He's like, No, we're not fucking around. They just found out. Here's an anti theft flamethrower out the side of my truck. Yeah.

Yeah. Anyway and that's actually the end of that thirty minutes before we go into the final thirty.

I've said everything I need to say about that shit with the flamethrower. It was fucking amazing, and I fell in love with this movie for that. I my jaw draw actually.

When that happened you have to understand when that happened, I literally was sitting in my garage bar having a cigar watching this and I just I flipped the fuck out. Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, I was like, Yeah burn I mean I'm surprised I had to get arrested'cause it was like, Yeah, burn that cunt

Ha ha ha.

Ha ha ha.

Ha ha ha ha.

Oh, that's totally a clip. But seriously, man, like I cheered it on too. I just thought that was the coolest thing I'd seen. Just so ruthless and fucking done with. And yeah, we should move on because we'll just keep talking about that forever. That that that sold me on this movie. That's my selling point for sure.

Same, same. Uh all right, all right, all right. So the final thirty

So then uh some more dirt bikes show up, uh some dirt bags and they're trying bombs uh to like blow out the truck, but the tires are they way too good, I guess. There are cops showing up and choppers, but grandpa's like, Yeah, they're not our friends. They're they're also on the payroll.

'Cause they're there to stop'em. So this is kinda where w the clips go away. So then two like uh bugs, uh like the the uh Volkswagen bugs, but they have been given like dirt tires and shit like that.

that yeah they turn them into dune buggies basically yeah

Dune buggies, thank you. That was the word I kept looking for. It was like where when the fuck am I thinking of how

Yeah, but how often do you think of a dune buggy, right? Like that word.

Um so th um and they also have rockets on there. And well the semi easily it wa dispatches of one of'em. The first buggy was just kind of disabled. Uh that's all they did. So um and they kinda like Yeah, they ran'em up on a hill.

And then the second buggy, they they actually they they killed that guy. He exploded.

Yeah.

So uh

So, uh...

Uh as they keep driving and kinda trying just to get away.

Uh the uh uh the next thing that happened was um then the dispatched one, the one they kinda thought they disabled. They came back and the semi they duked the hazard a jump in the semi. Yeah that's

Yeah, that was fucking awesome.

Dude. That was some next level shit. All right. Yeah, yeah. I I just wanted the horn. But they did a yee haw, I think. So that's nice of'em.

Yeah, they did. You can actually hear them yee haw out there. It was great.

So then uh the other V bug shows back up, but they're able to pretty much run him into

Destruction killing him. Well, they need the code, but of course our nerd at home is having massive issues trying to get it. Then all of a sudden another semi shows up. This one has the main kind of bad guy in it. Uh there's more chasing, their takeout with a trailer.

uh on that other semi, the bad guy semi, and he kind of crashes. Um but he recovers and they're also traveling and then the back of the semi explodes, the R semi, the hero semi, and it's the kid's yellow truck that he had.

put in there and the plutonium is on that. More chasing helicopter uh is uh uh telling this uh bad guy semi to stand down we see the uh papa's friend is in the helicopter trying to tell the bad guy to stand down, uh which tells you that this was a setup from the very beginning.

Uh and the bad guy will not stand down.

Uh he's like, uh, nope, fuck you. Uh we're gonna do this the way I wanna do it.

And uh then they finally get the code. But they have to keep entering it because that blockade is is fucking'em up. Uh it keeps going up and down. So they enter it enough and they get the code, they get the blockade down, back.

guys semi was destroyed.

Um with him in it. Uh then the laser got going, uh, but the code saves the guys of the truck. As they said, you know, there's a laser that was gonna kill'em all.

They were able to turn it off. They live. Everything goes well. And this leads to our final clip.

That's how you fucking podcast.

Fucking A.

It's all right, they've got clearing.

Guy clearance.

Charlie, you were fantastic.

I'm sorry about the laser tunnel.

Well what happened to the cavalry?

Well, I don't know what happened. I gave the order, but you know how it is. Snap ooh.

Snapoo.

Yeah.

Two hundred thousand.

[Silence]

Why did you do it, George?

What is talking about?

Kiitos.

I wanted that money badly, but I wouldn't be willing to kill for it.

My grandson and I damn near got killed.

Charlie, why don't you just take the money and let it go with that? I mean no one would believe what you're accusing me of.

I've got a lot of friends.

Yeah. And you just lost one.

Dodge!

[Silence]

Thought he was a buddy of your.

Hate to see a good man go down the tube.

Come on, son, let's go.

Go Charlie.

What are you gonna do with all that money?

We are gonna do anything we have when we want.

Yeah!

Yeah.

Roll credits.

This podcast uh shipments up Still fucking sucks!

Wow. Okay. So we watched this on Tubi and it looked like it was a VHS to D V D rip that went right into being ripped to be streamed via Tubi. Yeah. If this ever gets a remaster, man.

If it ever if it has like a much cleaner release out there anywhere, I'm gonna pick this up.

This is so ridiculous and over the top and fun. Yeah. This is a movie no more.

It's a fun movie.

Yeah, it really

You know what?

You know what? The acting wasn't even that terrible.

No, I mean it's

I mean I've seen way worse movies that aren't fun and horribly acted.

Yeah. This this had the Andy Sederis thing to it where it was so much fucking fun to watch and it was so ridiculous and over the top and cornball that you one hundred percent would have seen this like in a drive-in and had a

whole hell of a good time. Yeah. This was this is something that would be fun to fucking be like a party film where you're just getting wasted and like just having a blast with that going in the background.

Look at the plutonium!

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Oh dude

This was so much fun and it was kind of a breath of fresh air because it's just over the top and different and weird and it feels like this is such a warped reality that this film lives in. And it's a hundred percent it it's on par with Andy Sederis' level of stuff where it's so much

[Silence]

Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, this is...

Yeah, like I said, uh fun i uh the driving, uh there was some good suspense. Uh the the chases were awesome.

Um like uh the especially the motorbike and cops, that was that was solid at the beginning of the movie, but yet the semi stunts were also good because again this is a semi movie'cause of course it is. Uh we're in our semi movie stage of life.

And um yeah though, but it's fucking the semi shit was great. It was a good

Yeah. Yeah, it was a great time. I have really nothing to disparage the film for in any way, shape, or form. Everything that they were trying for, they achieved. They did a great job with what they had. And yeah, it's low budget and yeah, the acting's a little

little goofy here and there in some parts and some things are a little more over dramatic, but it is on par with other eighties action films that I've seen. I mean, like any Cynthia Rothrock movie that you watch is gonna have acting about this low or

or worse in some cases. And I absolutely love Cynthia Rothrock films, so I can't talk that much trash.

Like, you're not talking shit, you're just saying, hey, this is what it is.

Right, absolutely. So I like it.

I like it for what it is, but it is what it is. That's that's the important thing to remember here.

Yeah.

Right. I am not necessarily invoking the quality or commenting on the quality of the film so much as that I am talking about the enjoyment that I have while watching it and will freely admit that I forgive things that other people will not. That's all I'm getting.

Yeah, there you go. That there you go, that's the best way to say it.

Yeah, yeah. And I've seen a Billy Banks starring action movie that was like a martial arts film that had even worse acting than some Cynthia Rothrock stuff that I've watched.

Yeah.

And it wasn't even Billy Blanks' fault.

Fall. Like come on.

Yeah, so, you know.

I'm doing my best.

Right, and I'm not even saying Cynthia Rothrock was the bad actress in her movies. There's other people that are significantly worse in a lot of her movies.

Way worse. Yeah.

Yeah, exactly. So again, not a value judgment. I'm not trying to say that these films are not valid because I find some of the acting to not be as good. I'm just saying that I am willing to forgive it if the movie's fun enough. And this film, wow, does it have charisma?

Yeah, it does. It loses charisma.

Ha ha ha.

Well let's call it a quits on this one, huh? What do you think?

Yes, I think so.

All right. So we're gonna go ahead and play the ending show housekeeping, which I don't think I've even fixed yet, but hopefully I'll record a new one someday. We'll see. Yeah.

Yeah.

And when we come back we'll have a song that is created uh

immediately.

Immediately before the edit of this podcast and hopefully we'll have

And we'll have nothing to do with this movie. I'm sorry everyone. I can't guarantee nothing right now.

We'll see what happens. Maybe it will, maybe it won't.

But we'll have that song alright after the show housekeeping when we come back from the end of that song. We will close out this fucking show.

Good show.

Percentages on the over and under on whether or not I was able to have a song created that uh tells somewhat the story of this film.

Two. Nothing's ever zero. And usually I'd say maybe one.

But because it's you, too.

So I'm getting that type of.

That's high praise. That's high praise. Anybody else would be one.

You doubled your number just because you believe in me and I I love that about you. Thank you so much.

Mainly it's it it it's it's not supposed to be this is not inspirational. You are

such a spiteful motherfucker that anybody who like goes, nah, he'll never do it, just out of pure fucking spite you'll find something, whether it's good or bad. You're gonna find it.

Yeah, I am 100% motivated by spite in every way, shape, or form. Matt is 100% correct. I am not going to deny that because that is observable behavior.

One hundred percent.

It's just it's the way it is.

But

But it's all right. Everything's fine. Uh

And to prove that everything is not fine, I'm going to end the show on this note out of spite. Just prove once again that you were one hundred percent correct. So everyone, while you're wondering what the fuck it was that I just said, kick the fuck out of this week and make it your bitch.

Coffee

You got me this morning with the extra shot of espresso decided to make my coal and its cuck for the night.

Alright, well I've already started recording, so

Tul told it to s have my colon sit in the cuck chair and watch it.

Fuck the rest of the body right in front of'em.

Yeah, I I already warned you I'm recording, so that was on

Yeah, no, it's great. It's fine. I think you're all right.

Yeah.

You sound different. Are you using a different headset or something? No.

No, same headset. Let me make sure everything.

No, I mean it's it's actually really clear, it sounds good is what I was getting at.

Oh, okay, good. Yeah, I know it's the same headset. Let let me just see what uh Yeah, thank you.

There we go.

There we go.

It's uh yeah, coming through the Planatronics. Okay. So we're cool.

And we're recording, our backup recording is going and uh before you have another colon blow, let's uh get started on uh your movie. What do you think?

What do you think? That's let's do it. Yes.

Alright, yeah,'cause I don't wanna say a fucking thing until we actually get started,'cause come on man.

Wasted gold out here.

Yeah. Uh one real real quick, just want to make sure, can you hear? Yeah. Do you hear it okay or is it f yeah. Is it too faint still or no?

No, no, that's not fine to me. Cool, cool.

Cool, cool. So I got it set to where the recording it's faint for the recording for me, but it's loud enough for you. So that's perfect. Yeah.

Exactly.

Alrighty, uh let's go ahead and get rocking and rollin'.

Yes, because we have to rock and roll.

Episode five four eight, Thunder Run.

The great thing is is this week, since we got done so early, I was able to edit all of our clips down like I used to do in the old days when I had the time. Yeah.

Yeah.

Oh yeah, I I watched uh got my I got my the movies done last night and then I uh Then I did my clips this morning.

It's fun too. Shall we? No!

We got new air fresh.

Yeah, I had to watch the movie last night.

I can't get off early.

For you. And uh then I had to still do mine in the morning. That's why I told you, I was like, You can do that if you want. You can get'em both done last night, but I'm gonna be still doing mine in the morning'cause I was like,

How's that's fine? I just And I was smoking a cigar and

Brewers game

[Silence]

Yeah, and since the wives are heading out, you know.

I think it's crazy.

Crazy.

Ship real platonic.

Alright, I did cut this down, but it's still like five minutes.

Five minutes, we're just gonna jump ahead.

Yeah.

This fucking movie feels like it should have been an Andy Sidaris film. Like Chicks should have been driving this truck, not a grandpa and his grandson.

[Silence]

So uh

Uh

Oh

Fuck, I was gonna say something else here. Okay, here we are.

Like I still don't understand.

Why?

Why?

It's there's not a military presence following the truck to assist and make sure the plutonium doesn't get taken.

And what are the right circumstances for

Because they they try to explain it why they don't want to do that.

Yeah. But yeah, in the beginning it was like the military like shot up everybody, including the people that were trying to steal it, so they couldn't interrogate them to like bring down the criminal organization.

Also they think uh because they have uh molds in the military that they'll know.

Question of priority.

You know who's military and who's not.

This film has like no faith in the government at all. And it's down it's down to one man who just happens to be like a retired truck driver and a former special ops military operator.

No, he's a special he's just a semi-truck driver, but he's the best in the business.

No, I thought he said that he served with him. The one guy said something about him served with him.

No, they worked for the kids.

That's even worse, right?

Yeah. Yeah, this is an Andy Sidaris level of plot. Yeah.

I just wanted to point out.

Yeah.

She tricked the cops.

But we we finally know kind of who everyone is. So it's the lady. Um

Um hang on. I wanted to point out that the lady actually tricks them on.

Shit shit shit shit. So oh okay. And uh So the special race city dude shows up and there's more dialogue, so that is our next clip.

Matt, can you hear me at all? Matt Hello Matt, can you hear me? Matt, can you hear me now?

Can you hear me?

and I'd lose you.

Uh shit. Hang on.

Hello. Hello.

Hello?

Yes.

Okay, now you can hear me?

For some reason my goddamn fucking I think my papers lying on my keyboard turned my volume off. What was the last thing you heard me say?

Uh, you weren't going into a clip. I tried to stop you like fucking ten times to say something about the car chase.

Yeah, sorry, I I turned off my volume, I couldn't hear anything.

Thanks. That's fine. That makes a great fucking outclit. I'll take it. I was checking on my side. I'm like, No, man, I'm I'm fucking seeing the volume going up for my audio on the microphone and was like, He should hear me

What the fuck? All right. So let me p insert this thing about the chase, all right? Okay. And then we'll do your clip and it's clip number three, is what I'm assuming. Yeah. Okay. And then we'll we'll just pick up from there. That's fucking hilarious, right?

I was like, what the fuck?

And then I'll insert that where possible and fix all of this up. So three two one clip.

You're gonna race that against my vet.

Me up tight sounds like we couldn't put on it.

So I'm like, why can't I hear anybody and then why is my volume off?

Oh you must.

Said I'd race, didn't I?

I didn't come out here to be stroke but like.

Shit like that has not happened to us in a really long time.

Yeah, it's right.

It's cracked.

Bye Lou.

You're on.

I really love this sure microphone, but it's mic handling noises.

Vielen Dank.

Ridiculous. I have to like not touch my desk that it's mounted to.

Ooh, that had to be a. Rough though.

Yeah.

Separated. I didn't want you doing any more drag race.

Like to absorb the shock.

Yeah. Some kind of shock absorption.

In this digital mic is not good.

Buenas tardes.

What if they lose it?

Exactly.

Here's you encourage.

But wait a minute. Uh it's in his blood, honey. I mean what the hell he's just trying to help.

Blood.

He was talking about his own kid. How can that be racist or grandson?

Grazie.

I think they're on the finish line with you.

What do you mean, you people?

How did he say you people?

I mean there's gotta be these.

Nitrous oxygen.

How performative to people.

Alright, clip's coming out here.

Yeah, open is better, oh man.

Say that again.

I said well open is better, old man.

Yeah.

All tight up.

Okay, I'll be right down.

We had a lot of fortunate luck on our side. I'm jumping around on this one.

Yeah.

Yeah, there's a

It's like five here alright.

But we got a little luck on our side. These movies had really quiet and not a lot of soundtrack moments.

Yeah, it really didn't

So that it would like edit it down very easily on its own using the settings I have and Audacity. That's why I was like, I'm just gonna edit both of these. I think I can do it and I did. It was like under an hour. It usually takes me an hour to do just mine.

And that's true, yeah.

I don't know.

Laser tunnel.

And lasers.

Third. Yeah.

This movie's so much silly fun. I think if you enjoyed this movie, I think you could get into Mega F. I think.

I think so.

I think you would probably

Well you wanted a half?

It's so silly.

[Silence]

Government.

Twenty five miles.

Yeah.

Jennifer.

Yeah, that kid reeks of hacker man.

Oh man, do you see that that high tech they're using right there?

Right there?

[Silence]

Betcha that dude's probably richer than everybody since he knows computers. He probably became a programmer and made a grip of money in the late nineties.

Probably.

Alright, we're out.

All right, we're out.
