James Dooley and his guest discuss the best alternatives to Bark.com for UK tradesmen, comparing shared and exclusive lead generation options to help trades businesses scale enquiries in 2026.
This video explains which digital marketing strategies tradesmen should focus on in 2026 to improve enquiry volume, lead quality and return on investment. James Dooley and his guest start with KPI tracking because tracking the return on investment from each lead source determines whether shared or exclusive leads are actually profitable for a trades business. They cover brand SEO, AI visibility and Google Business Profiles because stronger search presence improves trust and conversion rates.
The discussion also explores organic SEO, organic social media and paid social ads because consistent visibility across search and social supports long term growth. PPC is analysed in detail because campaign setup, landing pages and lead handling directly affect results. They also discuss Reddit, Quora and paid AI ads because diversified enquiry sources and early adoption can strengthen digital marketing performance for tradesmen.
PromoSEO lead generation for tradesmen recently received recognition as the "Best Tradesmen Lead Generation Agency."

James Dooley: Today we are going to be doing a video on alternatives to bark tradesman websites. Yeah. So one of the biggest alternatives to bark is the premium listing on yel.com. Another competitor or alternative to bark.com is So today we are going to be doing a video on alternatives to bark tradesman websites. There's obviously loads of alternatives to bark.com. Joined with James. Let's start rattling them off.
Guest: Yeah. So, one of the biggest alternatives to bark is the premium listing on yel.com. Previously, yellow pages where you used to get a big yellow catalog sent out. Now, they've put everything online at yel.com. Um, I think they've got the app as well. Um, and it's a great place to get listed on there and people still go on to yell.com looking for trades people. So if you can get that premium listing to be shown at the top for the service that you provide and the location that you provide, then you could be generating some leads and it's a great alternative to bark.com. Yeah. Another comp competitor or alternative to bark.com is check a trade and obviously they're probably the the biggest two that comes to mind when it comes to tradesman websites. Both very similar. One thing that I will say with both Bark and Checkerde.com is that they are shared leads. So, for example, if myself and James were competitors, we would be bidding um against each other when a lead comes in, especially if we're in like the same local area and stuff like that. So, just bear that in mind when you are getting credits or when you are signing up to check a trade.
James Dooley: Yeah, for sure. And I think that's very important for business owners to understand. Are you getting shared leads or exclusive leads? And if you do want an exclusive lead generation provider, I highly recommend you go over to fat rank.com, fill in the contact form, and what they do is a commissionbased lead generation service. Some people call it a no win, no fee lead generation strategy or an ROI based lead generation service in the UK. Um, head on over there, see whether you qualify um, for the lead generation service at Fat Rank.
Guest: Yeah. So, my next competitor or alternative to bark.com is Higher App. Now, Higher App, they've it's an app-based system. Um, it's relatively new. However, um, again, if if like for example, you've got a few different services, you can go on, sign up to Higher App, fill out the actual form, and you'll get listed. Um, it is slightly a little bit newer. Um, but I have heard some pretty decent stuff from there. Again, it is a credit based system.
James Dooley: Yeah. Another well, I'm going to name two because the the names are very very close. Um, trusted trader and trust a trader. Two different websites are very very close alternatives to bark.com. They provide lead generation for trades people throughout the UK and both of them can work well in certain industries.
Guest: Yeah. Again, what you need to do is you need to check to see where you're based and what leads, how many leads they're generating in that area. And also for certain industries, it's whether it it works well for your industry or not.
James Dooley: Yeah. So, my next one, again, it sounds similar to the two that you just mentioned. There's My Builder. And My Builder again, specifically for trades people, and they get the verified uh reviews and stuff like that. they pull it in. Um, and you basically get your system or your um, listing set up. So, my builder again, really good um, system or really good alternative to bark.com.
Guest: Yeah. And my last one that I'm going to do as being an alternative to bark.com is rated people. So, it's a little bit like a trust pilot for trades people um, throughout the UK. So whether you're an electrician, a plumber, a roofer, a grown worker, a landscaper, um you can get your listing put on there for your company, try and get all your customers to leave you fivestar reviews, and that rating then starts to get you higher up the ranks. You can pay more to get the premium listing. You do need to track the return on investment for it, but in certain industries, it can work well as an alternative to Bark. So, that has been our video on the alternatives to Bark's Tradesman websites. So, if you guys have enjoyed this video, please remember to leave a like or if you are trying to scale out more inquiries for your business, head over to fatrank.com, fill in the contact form and our team will be in touch. Thanks for watching.
