Punchy, actionable insights and tips to make the life of the team leader a breeze.
[00:00:00] Pia: Teams are here to get stuff done together. So this new miniseries on execution is going to be action packed and we hope will become a key part of your leadership toolkit. Here at Spotify, we build and work tested a form of agile that any team can use to unite and accelerate. We're gonna let you in on some of those secrets. I'm Pia.
[00:00:22] Dan: And I'm Dan, and this is Squadify Connects. Yes, we are going to let you into some secrets, but let's first, as we always do, look at the why. Why do we think that teams need to up their execution game? The old way was what's called waterfall detailed planning of a predictable future, and sometimes that's just what's needed.
[00:00:43] But Agile helps us to work in a way that allows us to get things done in today's fast moving environment. Here are a few challenges to get you thinking and also. These will become the topics of this miniseries. First of all, things are changing rapidly so people can lose clarity. We'll share with you what we have learned about using sprints so that everyone knows what they're doing and how that Connects with the overall team goal.
[00:01:10] Pia: And no athletic ability required. Um, on the second point, it's easy to take action, but how do you keep an eye on the longer term goal to maintain alignment? So we'll share with you how you can use roadmaps to stay aligned without spending hours on project management.
[00:01:28] Dan: We've seen already that in a complex world, we don't know what the impact of our actions will be, so we have to move fast and learn by doing. Well take a look at how you can do that too.
[00:01:39] Pia: It's hard sometimes to balance the need for steady, disciplined execution with fast emergent strategies that need to be tested. We will show you how to bring this tension into light through the art of experimentation.
[00:01:53] Dan: Another thing we've seen is a very easy for individuals to become isolated and for their actions to be disconnected from those of others in the team. We'll share with you how to use radical transparency. To keep everyone connected.
[00:02:06] Pia: And finally, too often the continuous flow of tasks means that we never stop to learn. So yeah, we will share a really effective way to do that in order to be able to review and get the best learnings out of what we've done.
[00:02:22] Dan: So we'll break down this approach and we'll also avoid the jargon so that you'll end up with a new way of doing things. Or if you're an agile exponent already, we hope, having learned a few things.
[00:02:32] Pia: So this week's task is just to observe your team. So think about these three things. How aligned is everyone to a long-term goal? How good is the team at. Changing direction and keeping everyone with it. And then how good are we at reflecting to learn how to execute better? So enjoy your week. Tune into how your team gets stuff done, and next week we'll get stuck into creating the right level of clarity, the roadmap. So see you then.
