Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

But let us keep our eyes fixed upon Christ, and He will preserve us.
Looking unto Jesus, we are safe. – Steps to Christ, pg. 72
“Hey, guys! Why don’t we let the professional show us how to
do it?” Mr. Pasos announces emphatically.
Bashfully, I shake my head. “No, I’m not a professional,” I
reply, glancing down at the lush carpet of green beneath my bare feet.
Eventually, after much persuasion, I reluctantly give in. Placing
my foot on the slackline, I stand. Beginning to find my balance, I
intentionally set off towards my goal: the other end. Just one step at a
time, that’s all I have to do.
“You’ve got this!” Someone proclaims with full confidence.
My eyes flicker to the side, desiring to know who in the
assembled crowd had spoken. Immediately my body tilts, gravity
wishing to claim me. My eyes scramble back to the end of the
slackline, hoping to regain what my self-confidence had almost lost.
My mistake was just like the apostle Peter’s when he was
walking on the water. He became very self-confident and had turned
to see the other disciples. However, as soon as he took his eyes off
Jesus—his goal—he was overtaken by the Devil’s waves of conceit.
Crying out, “Lord save me!” he was immediately met by Christ’s loving
expression of mercy. Jesus then pulled him up out of the watery
depths and into His almighty arms.
With my eyes focused on my destination, I continue to walk
across the line. The slackline’s continual shaking challenges my
footing, but I take slow, steady steps forward. Seconds pass, and
an exhilarating feeling fills my being. Only one more step! I take it.
Leaping off, relief floods through me: I have completed my goal.
