This show includes stories from real RescueMeds injured workers and their journey navigating through their workers comp attorneys, doctors and getting prescription medication. It will also include resource information for injured workers and news about workers compensation laws, insurance companies and PBMs (Prescription Benefit Managers).
Hi, everybody. You caught us in the middle of a conversation. This is Kevin from RescueMeds Pharmacy. Welcome. Welcome.
Kevin:We're having a quick, meet and greet and howdy do with, Chris DeVoe. And Chris has been with us since 2021. And he you were a police officer for the city great city of Salisbury, as I recall. Right, Chris?
Chris:Yeah. That's correct.
Kevin:Yep. And probably seen seen some things you can't unsee, which, that comes in the line of duty. And, what, how did you, you've been with us since 2021 or 2022. What what brought you to us? How'd you hear about us, and what's what's the difference it's made?
Chris:So so what brought me to using rescue meds was actually the psychiatrist I was seeing referred me over to you guys. Okay. It's either him or my attorney I used and sent me over to
Kevin:Yeah. So again, folks, this is Kevin with ICU Meds Pharmacy, and I'm talking to Chris, he was just explaining to me how he came to be with the Rescue Meds Pharmacy. And you say you were referred over by the doctor you were saying at that time?
Chris:Yes. He sent my prescriptions to RescueMeds.
Kevin:And were you doing prescriptions before RescueMeds with workers' comp?
Chris:Not with workman's comp, but I did I was using a local pharmacy for my medication.
Kevin:Okay then. How's how's your experience been? I mean, you've been with us for quite some time now. Well, been doing it.
Chris:Rescue meds, it's been great. There was a gentleman that I speak with all the time. I believe his name is Kevin. And every time I have a question, he always answers his telephone and works the situation out.
Kevin:That is me.
Chris:That is you. Okay. So you're the one I talk to all the time. Okay. Okay.
Chris:It gets worked out where it's it's stress free for dealing with all mental health and trying to get your medications and get it on time.
Kevin:Yeah. It's bad enough. You you need a little something to take the edge off after the job you did. And then on top of that, you got to fight for your medications. And thankfully, you don't want to do that.
Kevin:Have a lot of guys that come to us pretty beat up and pretty battered out of the workers' comp world that have actually gone years of every month having to jump through a hoop and do these mother may eyes just to get their monthly fill of medications. Or go
Chris:to CVS
Kevin:and then they're told, Nope, looks like you're not, you don't have pre authorization. Then you have to go home. And then they get a call right when they get to the house. They go back down again and it's these silly reindeer games and we just alleviate all that. Just
Chris:Yeah. I mean, it's the same thing Workman's Comp is doing right currently with my new doctor because my old doctor, he retired, so I had to get a new psychiatrist. And it's the same thing with Workman's Comp. It takes forever.
Kevin:Yeah. Yeah. Well, you were fortunate that when you when you started out with Workman's Comp that, I believe you had a doc Shant but he sent you to us. I'm glad he did. Yeah.
Kevin:He just he just retired out too, actually. Yeah, he did. He was pretty good at what he did. He he worked he had his practice for a long time.
Chris:Yeah. He had a lot of knowledge too. A lot of knowledge.
Kevin:Yeah. And John Hall is your attorney?
Chris:Yes. John
Kevin:Hall. Yeah. John Hall. He's pretty pretty good at what he does too. He's he's good at his game.
Kevin:He he takes care of a lot of people in in the workers' comp world, and he's got a lot more lot more w's than he does l's. So he does
Chris:Yeah. And he's a lot more trustworthy than most of them as well.
Kevin:Yeah. Yeah.
Chris:He really is.
Kevin:I agree. John John's a he's a straight shooter, and he'll he'll always do his best. Works him and Ben Barnes over there. They're pretty good guys. Well, we just we want to make these videos and kind of put some faces to the names of people that we're helping and people all over the place that need the type of services that before that they just can't get out there.
Kevin:The workers' comp world is so broken that people just struggle. And I watch people as their life gets dismantled because they can't work, so they're not making any pay. And then eventually they're not driving their car because they don't have gas money. And then they're selling their car because they can't afford the payment on or the insurance. And then before you know it, I've seen people that literally lose their house.
Kevin:Oh, yes. They just had the medication to either take the edge off on a mental level or take the edge off on a pain level. They could go out and they could work and they could get back to it, but they can't even get the medication. And it's just so disheartening.
Chris:Well, I had a I had a few times. I don't know if you remember this where they cut off a couple of my medications that I needed.
Kevin:Yeah. We had
Chris:to go to war.
Kevin:Yeah. I had to go to
Chris:war with it so I could get the proper medications because not every medication doesn't work for medication is particular to the person that's taking it. Workman's comp will say, well, you need this. And they never looked at the fact that I've tried that and it doesn't work. This is what works. And they go after the lower cost ones all the time.
Kevin:Right. Focus on penny, not the
Chris:Yes.
Kevin:Yeah. And I get that to a degree, know, that they're trying to run a business too, but it gets dysfunctional to the level that they do that. It's upsetting. But it does they create the need for me, you know, because
Chris:Oh, absolutely.
Kevin:Own hard headedness. Yeah. Yeah. So because I get a prescription. I fill it.
Kevin:I ship it to you. If there's a fight to be had, I have that fight. You don't have that fight. You got No.
Chris:I don't have. I just have to get my medication and it gets here within a couple days and I'm good.
Kevin:Yeah. There you go. Yeah. Well, fantastic. But yeah, that's what we're trying to do.
Kevin:Like I said, just kind of get the story out there, let people understand who we are and what we do. Maybe anybody else is out there that needs our help, can contact RescueMeds Pharmacy in Annapolis, Maryland. Our CEO is Colleen Shields. This is her brainchild. Kudos to her.
Kevin:And kudos to my producer, Kevin Tomko, who's the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain right now.
Chris:Oh, is he?
Kevin:Yeah. He's back there. You just can't say that he's back there. So, Chris, man, thank you so much for coming on, buddy. It's good to it's good to see your face finally.
Kevin:I mean, all the years you're Yeah. Last time You know, you know You know
Chris:how when you talk to someone, you picture what they look like, and I'm sure I don't look like what I pictured.
Kevin:I'm sure neither of us do, but it's all good. It's a real pleasure visiting with you today and I appreciate you coming on. Thanks again. This is Kevin from RescueMed Studio. Thank you so much for stopping in and listening in.
Kevin:Have a great day. Thanks, Chris. Take care.
Chris:You too. Thank you.
Kevin:Yeah. Bye bye.
