Here is the news on the Radio Safety Show from Feature Story News in New Delhi. Indonesia is battling massive wildfires with the haze from the blaze reported in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Indonesia has deployed cloud seeding and firefighting aircraft in an effort to prevent fire and smoke from spreading in several key hotspots, including on Borneo Island. Laura Westbrook has more.

Indonesia's health ministry has recorded over 50,000 cases of respiratory infections between July and August that were linked to land and forest fires. Over 12,000 of those cases are of children under the age of 5. About 1.4 million students in 6 Indonesian provinces Schools in provinces hit hardest by forest and land fires have now shifted to online learning. Indonesia has intensified efforts to try to contain the haze caused by wildfire. Filipino meteorologists, meanwhile, say the haze is being blown north from Indonesia to the Philippines.

More than one week since catastrophic floods struck the Nepal-China border, the death toll has now crossed 1,200. Nearly 4,000 people are still missing or unaccounted for. As hope of finding anyone alive now has dimmed. Ishan Garg has more.

The crucial 72-hour window for finding survivors after a natural disaster expired days ago, and families say that their hopes of seeing their loved ones alive are fading. The UN's humanitarian agency says that aid efforts in Nepal are entering a new phase, with some of the hardest-hit areas still out of reach for workers, food, And relief material is being dropped using drones. The other challenge following the flooding, they say, is the risk of diseases due to contaminated water supply and overcrowded relief shelters. Incessant rain across the region is further complicating relief efforts.

US President Donald Trump has launched a fresh attack on Canada, even as Canadian Prime Minister has told Washington to stop posturing and return to serious talks. Canada has now announced retaliatory tariffs on around $28 billion worth of American goods. Which will take effect next week. President Trump also announcing a further 50% tariffs on Canadian cars and parts from January. Nick Harper in Washington is saying the president avoiding the question on restarting negotiations entirely.

He didn't go into that. Instead, he jumped into a laundry list of grievances, complaints, really riffing over many of the same ideas he has harked back to. Things like saying that Canada is harder to deal with than China, that Canada needs the United States more than the United States needs Canada, and also saying when it comes to banks, US banks are not allowed to do business in Canada. Now that's a falsehood that he's pushed a couple of times. US banks have been doing business in Canada, located there for about a century.

Anyways, let's continue talking about some things that are going on inside of the world of the multiverse, because that's just kind of what we do around here. We talk a little bit about this, we talk a little bit about that, and then we kind of move forward. So if you're good, let's kind of do some catch-up. Let me, uh, or should I do the magical aspect of the whole thing? Let's, uh, Do some, uh, catch-up on some of the information we've been talking about over the last few weeks. Tiger Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving in Florida after reaching a deal with prosecutors following his March DUI arrest. Woods had originally faced a DUI charge but will now have his driver's license suspended for 5 years. Uh, he arrived at court with a girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who stayed by his Aside throughout the hearing, Woods was found, uh, um, after his SUV crashed, uh, into a tractor-trailer in March, and police said that, uh, he had, uh, opioids in his pocket and refused a urine test. So here you go, take a listen to the sentencing.

Sir, I want you to understand the fine for driving is for the safety of the public. There are no exceptions.

If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail.

So here's what—

here's the interesting part, and I'm not picking, I am just saying, let's just kind of state the obvious. I think the man can afford to have somebody drive him around for the next 5 years, just saying. So some stuff to think about. So we're gonna go in a little bit deeper with this, but let's kind of go through some other aspects. President Trump says that he has been urging Tiger Woods to stop driving himself and hire a personal driver long before the golfer's recent DUI case. Trump called Woods' plea deal fair and said that Woods will now have someone drive him after his license was suspended for 5 years. Trump defended Woods, saying that the golfer has dealt with severe back pain and prescription pain medication. Woods pleaded no contest to reduced reckless driving charges after his Land Rover crashed and rolled over in Florida 5 months ago. Here's what Trump's comments about the whole thing.

They didn't find alcohol on him. You know, he didn't test positive at all for alcohol. But he, because of his horrible back, because he had a, in my opinion, a bad doctor, but he had a back operation that did not work out well. And he is under pain. And so it's a tough deal when you're taking a painkiller because you're under pain and tremendous pain and you have a problem. you test positive, he would have told him that. I mean, it's a prescription painkiller, but I thought it was very fair. I mean, I think he's going to have somebody drive him. I told him that a long time— why don't you get somebody to drive you? So he's going to have somebody drive him from now on. And, and, you know, he's just a very special guy. I'm glad, I'm glad that was resolved.

Okay, so there you go. The president's glad that it's resolved. In regards of it, so of course the question has come up, can Tiger Woods legally drive a golf cart? Initially, the answer wasn't uncertain, according to the Florida 19th Judicial Circuit State Attorney, who told reporters that his team will have to look into that after Woods received a 5-year driving ban yesterday following his March DUI arrest. You know what, you got me, said, uh, said Thomas from the Office of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court, uh, said that, um, in response, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis then weighed in, writing, Tiger should be able to drive a golf cart on a golf course, in a post on X later yesterday. Thomas told the Associated Press that Woods is allowed to drive a golf cart in Florida, explaining that the law states that anyone over the age of 18 is permitted to be behind the wheel of a golf cart on public or private property. So here's what Thomas was being asked the question about Tiger driving the golf cart yesterday. I guess it was a shock. Oh my God, that's a great question. Actually, you do.

So let's talk because, you know, we talk about everything that goes on inside of the multiverse around here. because that is what we do. If we didn't do that, we'd be doing something else. So let's do this. A federal judge has rejected the Justice Department's push to break up Google's digital advertising business but ordered the company to make changes to the system behind the dominance— hold on— the dominance online. Uh, so there you go. The ruling is another legal win for Google, which faced multiple antitrust challenges, uh, over the business practices. The government wanted Google to sell part of its ad tech operations, but the stopped short of that. Critics say that the decision doesn't go far enough, while Google says that breaking up its ad tools would, uh, have been extreme and could hurt small businesses. The full ruling is expected to be released after a 14-day review period, so we'll see exactly what takes place there. So I mean, I don't know, do you look into business breakups and separations and all that other horseshit? Uh, because if you want to take a look at an interesting one that happened many, many moons ago. You have AT&T that had to kind of break up and do some weird things. At one point, AT&T was no longer AT&T and they became Cingular. If I remember correctly, the title, they had kind of an orange bluish tone type of thing going on. It was really random. And then eventually they became AT&T again. I don't know. I don't even understand how half of this crap works, but all I know is we're part of the process. At least it seems that way when we're actually going through the whole thing. More sarcasm.

I mean, I don't know, what a weird thing. So here we go. I mean, you know, some renaming has been taking place as of recent. Some lakes, some, let's see, the lakes, the Gulf, some renaming. Well, let's just not stop there. President Trump is suggesting another geographic name change, but this time proposing that the Strait of Hormuz be renamed Trump Strait. Yeah, Trump says the U.S. now has almost total control of the strategic waterway and argued the new name would make it even hotter than ever. The strait bordered with Iran and Oman carries roughly a fifth of the world's oil and gas shipments. Traffic has fallen sharply during the ongoing war with Iran and amid the U.S. naval blockade, pushing energy prices higher. Trump previously suggested making the U.S. Strait— or the strait U.S. territory, but offered no details on how that would happen. So there you go, some stuff to think about. What do you think about this? I mean, renaming stuff and, uh, kind of focusing on some weird shit, because that's really what it is at this time. Shouldn't we be focusing on what needs to be done with the economy? I mean, some people think that the economy is okay, some people think that it's not, that it's not. I don't know. It's kind of like, I can tell you this, um, paying some of the shit out now that it needs to be paid seems to be higher than what it was before. I'm just throwing that out there if you haven't noticed, because it definitely seems that way.

Okay, so I, I will tell you, I have only heard parts of this thing and I have not seen the full thing. Uh, so let's kind of go, uh, slow because that's probably what needs to be done, duh, in regards to talking about this. A 56-year-old woman is facing an aggravated juror intimidation charge after allegedly photographing jurors outside of the Massachusetts courthouse where Lindsay Clancy's murder trial is taking place. Dawn Light reportedly took photos and videos from her car and told police that she was waiting for Clancy. She pleaded not guilty, and her attorney called it a complete misunderstanding. Light was released without bail and ordered to stay away from the courthouse, jurors, and anyone connected to the trial. So there you go. There you go. So this trial seems to be pretty interesting in regards of what's going on, especially because they kept on having, um, they were— I was gonna say a hung jury, which was not the correct term. They were at a deadlock the last time that I heard, but we'll get into a little bit more of that here in just a few. But what an interesting time, um, in regards of people taking a look at this case. And like I told— and like I talked about it yesterday, it's not that far off, um, in regards of, uh, what it sounds like what happened with the Benoit case many, many, many years ago, except that Benoit took his life at the end of it. So there you go. Some other stuff going on. Let's continue talking. Former NFL cornerback Alphonso Smith Jr. has reportedly died by suicide at the age of 40 in Florida, according to TMZ. Earlier that day, a disturbing post appeared on his Facebook account referencing personal demons, childhood trauma, and belief that, that he needed, uh, help but never received it. Smith apologized to his children, family, and friends in a post that expressed deep remorse. Authorities have not publicly released additional details surrounding his death. A Florida native, Smith played college football at Wake Forest from 2004 till 2008 before the Denver Broncos selected him 37th overall in 2009. He was traded to the Detroit Lions in 2010, played 3 seasons in Detroit. Smith appeared in 42 NFL games, finished his career with 88 tackles and 8 interceptions. So there you go, some information for you. Kind of sad to totally hear everything that's going on there, But don't even know how to explain some of it in regards to what we're talking about. That is for sure. So let's continue talking about some other stuff that is going on inside of the multiverse, 'cause that is, uh, what we do around here. A lot of stuff always going on. So let's talk about it, 'cause there you go. Um, take a listen to this. Hold on. Police in Kirkland, Washington got a 911 call about a loud banging inside of a home. Officers arrived expecting a burglar but instead found a bobcat perched at the top of the stairs. They used drones to keep tabs on the furry intruder to guide them into an empty room. Wildlife officials later sedated the animal and then released it into the wild, into the wilderness area. Police believe that the bobcat climbed through a tree and then jumped through what is now an open window, or better known as an open window because that would have been the only way to get in, possibly while chasing the homeowner's cat, uh, who survived the encounter. So there you go. I know it sounds definitely like a Law and Order case for sure when you start thinking about it. Okay, so how do we want to do this? A lot of stuff to talk about. So let me, let me think about, uh, this next one because it could be, uh, controversial as we are talking. Should we do it this way or should we do it a different way? I never know when I start talking about some of this stuff. Let's do it like this because I think that this is going to be the Better option. So let me just talk about it, we'll go from there. A Montana woman had to pull out her bear spray when an aggressive moose charged her dogs in, uh, in her backyard. With Big Sky, uh, Shelly Thornburn said that she was especially worried about her 14-year-old dog Annie, who is deaf and losing her vision. Doorbell footage of Thornburn spraying the moose, it was immediately, uh, immediately took off. She got, um, all of her dogs safely inside, but thankfully nobody was injured. The U.S. Mint released a new gold-colored one coin featuring President Trump as a part of the 250th anniversary celebration, and collectors rushed to buy it. The demand was so intense that shoppers were stuck in virtual lines for more than an hour. The coin is legal tender but doesn't— isn't actually made out of gold. It's mostly copper with nickel and some other rare Metal. The Mint is selling them for the collectors, bags of 25 or 100 for either $61 or $154, meaning that buyers are paying a hefty premium for the coin's face value of $1. Trump's appearance on the coin breaks with a longstanding tradition of not putting a living president on the U.S. currency. He's the only second-sitting president to appear on an American coin, falling Calvin Coolidge in 1926. So there you go, some things to, um, to talk about. So what do you think here? Some interesting times. Let's talk about this one real quick because I think it's interesting. If you work certain jobs, be aware that your coworkers may be, uh, egomaniacs. And here are the jobs that most, uh, let's see, say that they have the most arrogant workers. I'm just telling you, don't hate me. I'm just telling you, uh, what— how it is listed. A 20-year-old Florida woman was killed by a bizarre chain reaction crash on I-95 just hours before she was scheduled to be sworn in as a law enforcement an office official. Uh, Cassie Taylor swerved to avoid a Mercedes that was, um, had hit an alligator, lost control of her pickup, and was thrown, uh, from the truck. She was then, uh, struck and hit in, uh, and run over by a driver while lying in the roadway. Investigators say that she wasn't wearing the seat belt. Taylor had joined the sheriff's office just a month earlier. The alligator also died during the crash. I mean, what a cluster. I mean, that's not even, uh, not even one of those things that you take a look at and go, oh, okay, this makes sense. I mean, that is definitely next level as we are talking, no doubt about that. A Tampa server says one particularly difficult table spent the night demanding free food and extras and then left her with one tip on a $69.99 bill. When the bill came, they handed her $70 and told her to keep the change. She says the customer later returned and complained to the manager, claiming that she refused to honor the birthday reward. McKenzie says that she simply weren't enrolled in the restaurant reward program at the time. When a Fayetteville, North Carolina woman played an online lottery game for the first time after her mom introduced her to the lottery games and immediately hit $325,758 jackpot. Troywani Davis said that she was speechless. She's splitting the winnings with her mom and then plans to invest her share and put some towards starting a cosmetology business. Mom taught her how to play. Apparently, mom also taught her how to skip directly to the winning part. So there you go. I mean, I guess that works out well. Well, if someone teaches you how to exactly, uh, do this. So there you go. There you go. So a lot of stuff going on, um, inside of the multiverse is definitely what it sounds like. Detroit Tigers have reportedly reached a pre-agreement with 12-year-old Dominican prospect Kevin Sosa. He's 12, by the way, for a $4 million signing bonus. Even though the Major League Baseball players generally can't officially sign international contracts until 16, international baseball teams routinely make verbal deals with prospects years before they're eligible. But Sosa's reported $4 million bonus would make him the youngest player ever to secure a deal of that size. He's already being described as an elite talent and reportedly can handle fastballs at 91 to 93 miles per hour. There was one pretty big catch though. This is only a pre-agreement. Nothing is signed. Either side can walk, and the MLB can push an international draft that could also change the situation. Meanwhile, the Tigers are 63-75 and out of the playoff contention, coming back-to-back losses to Minnesota by scores of 11-1 and 15-2. So Detroit may be thinking long-term because the president isn't exactly going too well. Well, So there you go, some stuff to think about. So with that being said, let's go ahead and get into it. Okay, so let's talk real quick because there's always some confusion in life. There's always some of those things in life where you start having these discussions and you go, is this a good thing? Is this a bad thing? Is this a whatever thing? Because it's definitely time to do some of the stuff that we need to talk about. And I have to tell you that sometimes for the work that we do, and I'm talking about the safety business, I'm talking about making sure that people are safe, I'm talking about— Going forward in talking about this stuff, you definitely have to love the process. And let me make sure that I'm clear when I say that. You have to love the process. There is this strange thing, strange thing that occurs, and I've noticed this for years now, where people will get involved with safety And they don't love the process. They come to this conclusion that for some reason, because of what they do, they are going to be considered a savior. Yeah, you heard me correctly say that. They're considered that they are going to be seen as a savior. That's not how this works. Or they come into this other thing that they might be talking about this, talking about some of this safety stuff, and people start recognizing them in this field. And now they have come under this assumption that they are like a Hollywood megastar. Let me say that one more time, a Hollywood megastar. Where they all of a sudden have this weird assumption That the moment that they walk into the room, that they're going to be known as a popular musician or a popular actor who has won Oscars, Emmys, maybe some Golden Globes. That's not this business. This business that we're involved in is very, really, it's very, very, very, very, very, very, very strange. And really awkward at times is probably the way that I should say it. Because look, people want to be safe. People want to make it back home. They want to get back home at least in the condition that they left home with, and then get there and take— make sure that things are taken care of. But for some reason, some of the people that don't love the process feel like they're going to be helicoptered up to the top of the mountain And all of a sudden people are going to admire them. That is not how this shit works. What ends up taking place is that you need to have strong fundamentals in regards to the virginity of safety that you want to know about. The reason that I say this, and I want to talk about this today, there is this belief that if you have X person endorse you, This other person, uh, write a foreword to your book that you're going to be the next—

Good luck. That's not how this works. You're only as good as the last thing that you've actually done. You know this. You know how this goes. I'm only talking about this this morning because I think it's so important to talk about. If you're coming in here with some level of belief that you are going to be recognized as the next big thing, or you are just the coup de grâce, not the business for you. Probably go find something that might be a little bit different in regards to what you're looking for. Sometimes people look at this low— the low-hanging fruit and not realizing on how important these aspects are. People normally don't give a lot of thought about what's going on with safety programs and, uh, things related to safety until something catastrophic occurs within the organization. I will tell you, and exactly how it occurred with me, is that I did not pay a lot of attention to stuff that was going on with safety in the organization that I was in until there was a catastrophic event that led to a fatality. To me, it was like, oh yeah, we need to do that for the safety department. Check. And, uh, let's make sure that we do that and move forward. And not really giving two shits until something, um, extreme happened. So once the extreme happened, then all of a sudden it was a thing. All of a sudden it was, uh, one of those deals that I thought it was important to talk about. Until then, didn't really care. So with that being said and coming to that acknowledgement, maybe that's some of the stuff that we should give some consideration to, opposed to it just being, hey, What's going to be in it for me? Why don't we think about the future and go, how can we assist the organization? And it's not about me, it's really about making people get home safe. It's not about me, it's about helping the organization become better. I will tell you something that I have learned throughout the years. You don't have to go out there and toot your own horn. If anything, learn that other people will talk about you if you're doing good work. Other people will take care of it. One of the weird parts is that you always hear people talk about, what do you want my safety legacy to be? Nothing. It's not for you to make that determination. It's for somebody else to determine what your legacy is. If anything, if you could ever be a person that was considered helpful in regards of getting— making things safer, that should give you validation enough. It's not really some other crap that's going on where people are going, oh, now I need this to get street cred. It becomes so weird sometimes. I just don't get it.

Several major medical groups have issued fall recommendation for RSV, flu, and COVID-19 vaccines because the CDC has not released an updated guidance. The group says that their advice is based on the latest research and that vaccines remain effective and preventing serious illness, hospitalization, and com com com. Let's see, complications. I guess I can't talk. Insurance companies have, uh, indicated that the shots will be covered. Illinois is having a wild year with severe weather, with the state already setting a record for the most tornadoes in a single year. Now it can add another record to the list. A 6.6-inch wide hailstone found in, uh, Kankakee on March 10th has officially been confirmed as the largest largest hailstone, uh, ever recorded in Illinois. So there you go. What else do we got? Here's, uh, last night's winning Powerball numbers for $146 million. It was the number 3, 10, 29, 58, 64. Powerball was 14 and Power Play was 2. So there you go.
