Midday motivation every time you press
ball.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
CrossFit, boobies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate.
Tune in now, you part of the fam.
What is going on, everybody?
New theme song, new intro,
added Corey to everything,
and he takes a day off.
So here we are.
We are back.
We are better than ever.
Meredith, it's not snazzy.
It's jazzy.
Let's get it right.
Come on.
I've only been off one day,
but we got to remember the terminology of
what's going on.
Um, so yeah, uh,
just for Mira says sick, sick intro.
We got a cool intro from Craig.
Uh, Sean says, whoa, new music,
much better than the previous one.
Uh, I don't know.
I like the old one too,
but this one is way,
way more personal solid from John George.
Um,
Speaking of Jazzy,
they brought back more salted caramel.
Thirdsy has brought back more salted
caramel.
If you want to get yours now,
go to thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
That's used code Jazzy at checkout.
It'll get you fifteen percent off your
order.
So there we go.
Getting Jazzy with it.
We are trying to become more professional,
you know.
So before we get into all the stuff
I want to talk about,
yesterday I had my procedure, and...
went in early in the morning.
They hooked up two defibrillators to it,
to me, that is.
The first one,
they put one pad on the front left
and the other pad on the back right.
Then they put the second one front right,
back left.
They hit one defibrillator,
did not go back into rhythm.
Hit the second defibrillator,
did not go back into rhythm.
hit both defibrillators,
went back into rhythm and the shock of
it all woke me up out of anesthesia,
saw the nurses and the doctor celebrating
that they got me into rhythm.
I was super stoked.
I think I yelled,
let's go when I heard it.
And then they got me unhooked and we
wheeled back into the room and
And I'm back in rhythm.
And the ablation happened a couple weeks
ago.
So hopefully this means that we are back
in rhythm forever.
And it's over.
So, uh, today, uh,
just a little bit sore yesterday.
It was a little bit sore today,
a little bit more sore, just back,
just feel muscle soreness and where the
pads were is really itchy because it's
like a sunburn yesterday was a little bit
of Bernie.
Today's a little itchy, uh,
as it's healing up.
But other than that, man, we are,
we are ready to rock and roll in
a couple of days.
So super excited about that.
Finally,
after everything that I've been through,
we are back in rhythm.
We are back ready to go.
And so there we are.
CrossFat always checking my repetition of
my words.
That's what it is, dude.
I was sore.
I was sore.
I'll say it a few more times.
There it is.
Thank you, everybody,
for the thoughts and prayers.
So many of you reached out to me
over the last twenty four hours.
It was awesome to get your messages and
your thoughts and your prayers and
everything.
Sean says,
wishing you speedy recovery and comfort to
you and your wife.
Yeah, we're both ecstatic.
Glad you're back, homie.
Yeah, me too.
Glad to be back.
um tristan says glad you're home feeling
better dude so yeah everything's great
guys again thank you so much to everybody
you guys are the best so while i
was out yesterday i andrew hiller decided
to cut up sunday night show and make
a real
where I had made the comment that if
you go to CrossFit competitions in the
Masters Division,
the people that win those events are not
natural.
Of course,
there was a little bit of context taken
out of that
what we were talking about is the more
power output events these strength events
we were going through what legends has put
out and what they're doing is they're
putting
They're upping weights.
They are reducing a ton of gymnastics as
the ages go up,
which is a huge mistake in my opinion
because all they're doing is promoting
people to get stronger.
And with that,
we already have an epidemic in the Masters
division.
Now you're just promoting people
that more and more people do whatever it
takes to get stronger on the one event
with the the chest of our pull-ups and
the sandbag cleans they reduced the chest
of our pull-ups by five as you go
up and they did not reduce the weight
on the sandbag
leaving it heavy for the older age groups
as it goes, but reducing the gymnastics.
And they just seem to keep doing this
over and over and over again.
And all it's doing is promoting more TRT
use,
more PED use throughout the Masters
community.
Because if you want to compete,
you just have to get stronger.
And it's getting more and more ridiculous.
The more I thought about this,
if you look at the elite semifinals this
year,
Syndicate and Mayhem got three spots to
the games.
Legends and NorCal Classic got two each.
And why is that?
Trust.
Trust.
CrossFit HQ cannot trust NCC and Legends
to get the right people to the games.
Two things have to happen when you are
looking at this situation.
Either one,
CrossFit gives more oversight into the
programming and the way the event is run,
or two,
you take away their event from them.
I believe that Ben and Blair at NorCal
Classic want to do everything they can to
become an event that is trusted.
And they're working to do that.
So that NorCal Classic is looked at as
a respected,
good option as a semifinal going forward.
I do not think that Joe and Bob
give a shit about
what crossfit thinks of their programming
what crossfit input is given to them they
are changing the weights and the rep
schemes on events the week of the event
again which shows me lack of preparation
lack of testing and it is turning into
a complete cluster as to what's going on
at legends
And they just are not going to be
able to be trusted.
The problem is we need another Masters
event group to become that trusted entity
that not only can do the semifinal piece,
but can take over the games.
Because right now,
I think they are the only option unless
Magic City can jump in and do something
to take on that role and to earn
that trust with CrossFit HQ.
The other thing Legends did is they're
only having five events today.
Five events for semifinal.
You want athletes to pay for flights,
pay for hotels,
pay an enormous entry fee to go to
a semifinal,
and then they get five events.
And the older age groups,
this probably means that they only have
four events.
Four events to qualify for the CrossFit
Games.
If it's too much for you,
you need to hand it off to somebody
else.
Ortega predicts that Magic City will take
over from Legends next year.
Five events is whack.
Has to be a perfect weekend for an
athlete.
The theme as you age for legends is
reduce gymnastics before weight.
Seems odd to me, but I'm a weakling.
It's just dumb.
It's dumb.
They are eliminating because when Joe and
Bob were athletes,
they were strength athletes.
They program what they like,
what they like to do.
They don't do what's best for the
community.
I have tried to give them the benefit
of the doubt over and over and over.
And I just can't anymore.
It is utterly ridiculous what they are
putting out as a programmed workout.
And this is carrying over to elites.
Elites are only getting five events.
It is mind-boggling that they have been
given more power to determine who gets to
the games on more levels than they've had
before.
Train Olive says, that's crazy.
It should be a minimum of six.
John George, not surprised at all.
They have been clueless and they suck.
I'm right in that camp now, John.
Right in that camp.
What happens to Masters Fitness
Collective?
I don't know.
I mean,
I was hoping that they would be given
a shot.
I think they're trying to do a team's
Masters thing now.
But man,
somebody's got to take over because these
guys are showing that they cannot handle
it.
They can't do it.
Yes, Shanna, your age group has four.
Four workouts to get to the CrossFit
Games.
Hey,
go buy a five hundred dollar ticket to
fly out here.
Go pay a thousand dollars for a hotel
room.
Pay us four hundred and whatever dollars
to be able to compete.
And we're only giving you four events.
And you better be freaking strong because
we're taking away all the gymnastics too.
Daniel Arnson says, ma'am does the same.
They program what they like,
but you get a better product out of
what they give.
They program what they like,
but they make it well-rounded.
It has all the elements that you learn
about in your CrossFit level one.
All of the elements.
Ask anybody who watched Mayhem this
weekend who has done programming for
events,
and they will tell you that that was
a well-rounded competition.
Yeah.
Is it going to have GHDs?
Yes.
Is it going to have rope climbs?
Yes.
Is it going to have handstand walks?
Yes.
Because Mayhem loves them.
But everybody knows that goes to Mayhem to
compete that those events will be there.
It is not a secret.
And they know they're going to get a
well-rounded test.
Who runs MFC?
I think it's Jamie free,
but it was a collective.
It was a,
it was a group of masters athletes who
got together and would train together and
work out together to get themselves to the
games.
When COVID came in,
they took it upon themselves when the
masters games was canceled to come up with
an event that became their CrossFit games
that season.
why that didn't keep going.
I have some theories about that.
I was at all of those events,
but they have gotten better and better
over time.
Um, I don't know.
I, so I don't know where they are.
I know the leadership has changed, um,
since they initially started to now,
Jamie free is a great dude.
I enjoy him very much.
Um,
But yeah,
I don't know where they are because they
canceled their event for this season.
And we're gearing up for something next
game season.
Vicky says,
I know Jamie Frew was trying last year.
Not sure what happened out of it.
Four workouts is bonkers.
It is.
Jody says,
I don't know enough about Masters to
participate,
but I'm finding this discussion
interesting.
Good topic and perspective.
Thank you, Jody.
Does this mean online will have four?
Does that mean Magic City will have four?
I don't believe so, Shanna.
I don't believe so.
I think that Magic City is going to
have six.
I think online, gosh, what?
Online's always had five or six, correct?
Cows and CrossFit,
I was under the assumption they were
moving to June to try to be a
semifinal.
It was pretty vague, their press release,
and I don't know.
I hope it's another option.
I hope...
Jonathan Ortega can do four workouts in a
training session,
and he's not even that fit.
Yet another reason why one entity,
maybe it needs to be Mayhem or Syndicate
or JR,
needs to be in control of semifinal
programming instead of everybody just
doing whatever the heck they want.
I think that's the carrot that was handed
out to these events.
to get them to come on and do
and host these events,
giving them the ability to program
whatever they wanted.
But it's a mistake.
That needs to be reeled back in.
There's talk,
and you hear Dave talk about it.
I've talked to Boz about it personally,
that they are supposed to have oversight
over this programming.
But I don't think it's a hard oversight.
I think it is a quick glance at
best.
But I agree.
I think Boz is doing elite online.
Why not just have one person from the
CrossFit Games team like Boz or hire
somebody like JR or Rich or whoever?
and have them do it and do the
programming across the board or actually
dig in and give oversight on the
programming.
Sean says CrossFit HQ needs to get a
grip on all these semifinals.
They're so inconsistent and out of whack.
I do not disagree with that,
especially now that you're adding masters
elements to this.
And my fear is a population that I
love dearly in the masters community is
getting lost in the shuffle of the mess
because I think their mess is really big.
um daniel says i know i beat the
regional stuff like a dead horse but all
around it it was well it was a
well-rounded era where everybody did the
same workouts and everybody had the same
amount of workouts it was an equal test
daniel i i don't care for the let's
just go back to regional approach
I do like what regionals brought to the
table in many aspects,
but they were not affordable.
We have to find solutions to the problems
that regionals had and make a amalgamation
of what they were and what they could
be.
And I would even say the semifinals of
twenty one,
twenty two were pretty good with way more
oversight than we have today.
But CrossFit was running those semis, too.
So we there has to be a way
to figure it all out.
think this is a one and done for
masters in person semis I regretfully I do
just because of how far down the list
they had to go to get participants
better to regroup and rethink Masters in
person.
This is not working this year.
It is not.
And to be fair to event organizers,
Masters are, what,
fourteen divisions that all have to do the
same workouts over the same weekend?
I proposed this a while back.
I think if you're going to go live
semifinal with masters,
you have to cut it to a group
of age group,
like thirty five to forty nine.
That is the biggest group that sign up
for the open and do a master semifinal
for them till you figure it out.
Then once you figure it out,
maybe you can pull in some of the
others.
Daniel says, which year was it,
HQ mandated,
that every semifinal had to do a few
workouts that they gave each event?
That was twenty twenty two.
I believe.
Twenty twenty three, twenty twenty three,
because that's when we had the weights on
the on the slip of paper that was
drug across the floor.
Yeah, it was that year.
Or to guess why regroup, Shanna?
I do think it needs to be looked
at again, Jonathan,
before we just blanketly say,
let's just do them again next year.
It has to be reworked.
You can't be resorting to inviting number
three eighty from the list to your event
because of lack of participation.
You just can't.
So.
The other thing,
and I can't find it again,
so if anybody saw this,
I saw a post that Del Mar and
Magic City were both going to be on
Flow Elite.
Man, take me back to Waterpalooza,
where you had to pay for everything.
I'm trying to find it again.
I don't know.
I'll try to find out more before tomorrow,
but
That is craziness.
If we're going back to flow elite for
coverage, you had to pay for it.
And it was terrible, terrible coverage.
So we'll see what happens.
Train Olive,
and so not a free stream for Masters.
I can't find it again, Winter,
to be able to know.
And I don't know if it's exclusively for
Masters because Legends is doing Elites as
well.
It's a mix of Elites and Masters this
weekend.
And I saw a post that said on
Flow Elite, but I can't find it again.
Daniel says,
if we can't get the same test across
the board for whatever reason,
that's not a terrible idea to stick to
each semifinal has to do three specific
workouts.
And from there,
HQ has still has some oversight.
Yeah, I'm okay with that.
I think the oversight is key.
Amanda says,
I think Savant's crew is doing elites.
Yeah,
but we don't know where it's being
broadcast.
If Savant's crew is doing it,
it could be put on a Flow Elite
platform.
PC says up here that Flow Elite has
been reaching out to a bunch of
competitions, including WFP.
Again,
I'll keep digging and see where we're at
with this and see if it is going
to be a pay stream.
I don't know.
Again, I just saw it this morning.
I heard Jenny talking about it.
So I'm just trying to figure it out.
I can't imagine the Savant crew doing it
and not holding it on their platform.
The one benefit they get is to grow
their channel.
So...
Maybe it was an April Fool's joke that
came way late.
I don't know.
Yeah.
So last night,
Matt Frazier was on with The Boys
Interrupted.
I'll be honest with you.
I tried to watch it as I went
to bed.
But after everything I went through
yesterday, staying awake was not...
priority for me or very easy to do
so I floated in and out of consciousness
throughout it I thought what was enjoyable
was Matt's a great storyteller and I
thought they told stories very very well I
hear a lot of people today talking about
um matt and hq trying to make sure
that he did not succeed all these things
and everybody upset about matt again i
said this what a week ago two weeks
ago matt has never changed
Matt is the same dude that showed up
in twenty fourteen and he has never ever
changed.
He has been consistent to who he is.
You can love him.
You can hate him.
He don't care.
He's just going to be him.
So for people to expect him to come
on to a podcast and all of a
sudden become Rich Froning,
it's never going to happen.
The guy is who he is.
And he built a huge amount of fans
being him.
So, and like Teresa says here,
didn't like him then don't like him now.
And that's,
and that's probably fine with him.
Um,
So that's wild to me that people think
all of a sudden he's going to become
this ambassador for CrossFit.
He was never that.
Matt was always about making himself the
greatest athlete to ever set foot on a
CrossFit floor.
He never did it for CrossFit.
He never did it for anybody else.
He did it for him.
That's who he is.
Love him or hate him.
He just is what he is.
Train to love, loved Matt.
Then love them.
Now a clock says we know who he
is and we're going to keep pointing it
out.
Matt was always about Matt,
never a community guy.
That's who he was.
And what we loved about him in twenty
fourteen is he was the anti rich.
Rich was the wholesome Midwesterner that
had won three in a row,
was going for four.
Matt was this.
Cocky.
trash talking dude from Vermont who came
in and tried to take the crown from
the King.
And he didn't do it.
And the next year, everybody was like,
well,
now is the cocky kid going to take
it from Ben Smith?
No, we didn't.
And then he did in,
and he wrote it for five straight
championships.
And it was who he was never,
ever been anybody else.
So there it is.
I'll try to go back and watch it
again.
It's just a long podcast.
I can't do these like Rogan-esque podcasts
anymore.
So Tristan says,
Rich was like the famous German shepherd
everybody loved,
and Matt was the scrappy pit bull.
right matt was that dog on the chain
that everybody kept outside and once a
year let loose to see if he could
do something amazing uh train says he
looked at it as his job which is
what made him so successful
Carolyn Prevost says, Matt,
I don't remember Matt being cocky.
Well, I do.
I remember him being very confident in his
own abilities.
And I don't mind cocky.
It's sport.
Cocky's good.
Believing in yourself and believing in
your ability is a good thing in sport.
Just because I say cocky doesn't mean it's
bad.
I argued two weeks ago that when you
had Matt versus Rich and Matt versus Ben,
it was when the sport was the best.
So I don't look at cocky as a
negative term.
Caleb Williams is the quarterback of the
Chicago Bears, and he is cocky,
and I want that.
I want my quarterback to be cocky.
I want him to think he's the best
out there.
John George says Matt is the noble of
athletes.
Use CrossFit to create his brand,
and now on to bigger things.
Exactly, Jay Birch.
If he can back it up,
it's not a brag.
It's just fact.
Train all of people like Colton being
cocky now, but not Matt being cocky.
Then it brings spice to the sport.
And that AI just keeps rubbing salt in
the wound.
The Jets are never getting Tyson.
I must really be tolerant.
I don't pick up any of these things
from Matt.
And I do agree.
I do agree.
No rep puppy.
I think he is happier now.
I think he's happier now being away from
the sport.
It consumed him.
Now he gets to be a dad.
He gets to be a husband.
He gets to do all that stuff.
And he doesn't have to be in the
limelight anymore.
I don't think he ever wanted to be
in the spotlight.
I think he used the spotlight to get
him to where he was and now he
just wants to go to his farm in
Vermont and be a dad.
So the last thing I really wanted to
talk about is I caught up on American
Gladiators yesterday.
What's been cool is
was watching it to see how danny spiegel
did which in episode three she crushes she
crushes it um but what i found fascinating
is there's a contestant in episode three
when they showed her highlight reel it was
footage from the syndicate crown i think
she's a team athlete i know i've seen
her
And I just couldn't place her in my
mind as to where she was from.
But it is so cool that Gladiators uses
the term CrossFit.
They talk about CrossFitters.
There's been two contestants that have
claimed to be CrossFitters.
They talk about Danny Spiegel being a
CrossFitter.
And I think it's really good as a
promotion for the sport and for the
methodology, quite frankly.
It's been a fun watch.
If you watched back in the day,
the games are pretty much the same.
I do think that the Gladiators are more
athletic than they were back in the day.
They weren't just all – they're more than
just muscle.
They are athletes who can move.
Danny was a savage on the climbing chase,
whatever it's named.
I know.
That's episode three.
She was incredible at that.
And if you have not seen gladiators,
it's on prime Amazon prime,
go check it out.
It's really good.
There's three episodes released now.
I know that Jordan chefs,
the semifinal athlete is going to be a
contestant probably in the next episode or
two.
Cause I think there's only four prelims
maybe.
Maybe there's six.
Maybe there'll be three more.
So anyway, yeah, go check it out.
It's awesome.
You get to see Danny Spiegel,
pure athleticism.
And if you like Gladiator back in the
day, it's pretty fun to watch now.
Kenneth DeLapp,
I liked when Jen Witterstrom was a
gladiator.
Jen from Biggest Loser was also a
gladiator.
Yeah,
I watched Gladiator every time it was on.
It's been something that I really wanted
to, I thought was fun to watch.
I guess Copa Sur workouts are out.
I've not seen them yet.
We'll probably pull them up tomorrow.
But we got legends this weekend.
I think they're the only semifinal going
on this weekend.
So we'll check that out for sure later
in the week and see what's going on
there.
Last thing is all of the episodes of
Hattie behind the scenes at the CrossFit
Games are out.
Episode four was released yesterday or
Sunday.
All my days are mixing together.
The last episode, I think,
is the best one.
kind of wraps up the weekend again tristan
and her were both awesome to sit down
with me after it was all over for
a lengthy period of time to talk about
the weekend as a whole the last episode
captures all of that so make sure to
go check that out it's right here on
this youtube channel
And with that,
I'm going to go for the day.
Thank you again to everybody for the
thoughts and prayers over the last twenty
four hours.
But I'm back, baby.
I'm back and I'm back in rhythm and
ready to do this thing called CrossFit and
ready to get after some stuff.
So.
We'll be back tomorrow.
Hopefully we'll be back with the cowboy
and we'll see everybody tomorrow on lunch
with the Clydesdale.
And with that,
I'm leaving you with the new open as
the ending for today.
Cause it's so damn cool.
So when that lunch bell ring, yeah,
you know what to do.
Hit play, stay strong.
Let the park carry you.
Clydesdale cowboy.
Yeah.
We stay on track.
Midday Kings of the mic.
Yeah.
We always come back.
Yeah.
from the gym to the screen yeah we
cover it all midday motivation every time
you press call lunch with the
